The Minnesota chapter of an organization that promotes Islam and Sharia law throughout the United States, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, whose national organization has been designated as a terror organization in Texas, is attacking an activist who released a video exposing the “vouching” program through which people can register to vote in Minnesota on election day, and vote immediately.
The charge from CAIR-Minnesota is that the activist, James O’Keefe, allegedly attempted to impersonate a Minnesota voter at a polling station.
CAIR charged, “The video reportedly shows an individual falsely identifying himself to election officials as William Pomeranz, a real Minnesota voter.”
The video by James O’Keefe and Cam Higby showed how they were told they could, if registered voters, vouch for up to eight more unregistered people in a plan set up by the state that would then allow those eight to vote immediately. They confirmed, “No ballots were cast, no affidavits were signed, and the sole purpose was to test and expose the system.”
And actually, there are multiple people with the name “William Pomeranz” in a variety of positions and locations.

CAIR-Minnesota wants a criminal investigation.
CBS claimed that the undercover video could cause “legal trouble” for O’Keefe.
The legacy network said the activists “in what they called Muslim costumes, using fake accents, and claiming to be Minnesota voters vouching for the others.”
CBS claimed it spoke to “the real William Pomeranz” who was contacted “about my identity being misrepresented.”
This Pomeranz said, “I got to vote that evening without a problem. So, you know, the voting process, in my mind, worked.”
David Schultz, of Hamline University, told the network it is illegal in Minnesota to “impersonate another voter, and this is apparently what O’Keefe did.”
CBS said, “Impersonating a Minnesota voter at a polling place is a felony punishable by a maximum of seven years in prison and a fine of up to $20,000.”
A report at Minnpost accused O’Keefe of delivering a “heavily-edited” video.
And state Secretary of State Steve Simon, as WND has reported, immediately lashed out at O’Keefe calling the activists “members of a widely discredited Florida-based political group.”
Simon said the situation was being reviewed as “{W}e have zero tolerance for lying, lawbreaking, and disruptions at our polling places.”
CAIR-Minnesota, in a statement, admitted the activists did not cast ballots, but claimed O’Keefe identified himself as “William Pomeranz.”
CAIR-Minnesota chief Jaylani Hussein complained, “Using fake Muslim identities, accents and religious stereotypes as part of a political stunt is not a harmless prank or political stunt. When individuals allegedly impersonate real voters and potentially violate Minnesota election law while portraying Muslims as deceptive or fraudulent, the public deserves accountability and a serious investigation.
“If someone believes Minnesota’s voting laws are vulnerable, there are lawful ways to raise those concerns. Falsely impersonating a real voter, and using anti-Muslim stereotypes to do it, is not an acceptable substitute for legitimate civic oversight.”
Hussein pointed out CAIR recently announced the launch of Muslims.Vote, a platform intended to given Muslims guidance on voting.
The national group, for example, has created a list of questions that Muslims are to ask candidates in the 2026 election.
A report from the Gateway Pundit pointed out O’Keefe explained the state’s “voter vouching” strategy.
“Under Minnesota’s Statutes § 201.061, a registered voter can sign an affidavit affirming that they know another individual resides in the same precinct, allowing that person to register at the polls without presenting standard proof of residence. One registered voter can vouch for up to eight people,” O’Keefe said.
“We wanted to find out what this actually looks like inside a polling place and how far election workers would let us take it,” he said.
The original reporting by O’Keefe and Higby noted O’Keefe was told “You’re the ID” for extra voters.

State workers even, the original reports said, were comfortable with individuals introduced as “Hamas militants” voting.
Yesterday I walked into a polling location in Minneapolis with two Muslim men and told the poll workers that they were Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip.
The poll workers were ready to get them registered to vote so long as I “vouched for them”.

O’Keefe had just finished an investigation in Michigan, discover that voters sometimes voted twice.
