Game of Thrones: Kingsroad Offers a New Way to Experience Westeros

March 27, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: ENTERTAINMENT, IGN

If you’ve been itching for a game that lets you dive into the world of Game of Thrones, then the free-to-play action-adventure RPG Game of Thrones: Kingsroad that’s coming soon on PC and mobile will be right up your alley.

Bringing a new, original story in Westeros, it’s set during the latter half of Season 4 of Game of Thrones. Your character is a new addition to the series lore, an heir to House Tyre, a minor house in the North that has been caught up in the web of political intrigue of the realm

Your journey will bring you into contact with well-known characters like Jon Snow, Samwell Tarly, Lord Varys, and Cersei Lannister, and you’ll see events you’ve never gotten to witness before — from House Bolton’s shifting allegiances to the rise of the White Walkers. Players will travel across the continent to iconic locations like King’s Landing, Castle Black, and Highgarden, which have been re-created to emulate their look from the show.

The game’s open world exploration allows you to freely roam through each of these locations, as well as the wilderness beyond the Wall and in new hidden towns to discover. Within each town, you’ll find unique quests and challenges to complete that tie into the rich lore of the Game of Thrones world.

As well as the familiar main quests to propel the story forward and side quests to keep you bust, there are a bevy of other activities to keep you entertained as you explore Westeros. Faction and Estate tasks let you earn money, gear and crafting items to customize your loadout and character just the way you want to.

This being Westeros, your travels will be full of danger — and not just the political kind. The realm is full of desperate people willing to kill to survive, which is where the action RPG combat comes in.

Combat is defined by the character’s class. There are three options: Knight, Sellsword, or Assassin, each of which is inspired by types of characters in Game of Thrones. The Knight is based on Westerosi knights. They use a longsword and rely on precise, calculated strikes. The Sellsword relies on raw, brute strength, inspired by Wildlings and the Dothraki. Assassin wields double daggers with deadly agility, inspired by the Faceless Men and fighters of Dorne.

Each class offers unique gear, traits, and skills, so how your character evolves is up to you. Trait trees are separated into Attack, Defense, and Support, each containing unique nodes that grant fixed effects. Players can choose to specialize in one of those areas or spread out their growth to be a jack of all trades. Four skill slots are available, where you can equip special skills you unlock, and each class has its own unique skills.

Combat is reliant on reading enemy attacks and reacting accordingly. Players can guard and parry, but some enemies have unblockable attacks that can only be avoided if dodged. That means you need to pay attention, analyze enemy attack patterns, and strike when the opportunity is right. You’ll need to think strategically to claim victory over your enemies, this isn’t a system where you simply mash one button over and over to win every fight.

In addition to the main single-player story mode, there’s a multiplayer mode called Altar of Memories where players can team up with others to fight legendary creatures.. That includes ice spiders the size of hounds, unicorns from Skagos, majestic griffins, and grotesque cockatrices.

The game will launch in Early Access on March 26, and you can pre-register for Game of Thrones: Kingsroad on the official website right now. Pre-registration is available on both PC and mobile devices, and you can wishlist it on Steam. It’s scheduled to release in 2025 and will offer cross-play and cross-progression across all its platforms. To stay up to date on all news and updates, you can also follow the game on Twitter, Facebook, and Discord.

Patapon 1+2 Replay Brings Classic PlayStation Games to PC and Nintendo Switch This Summer

March 27, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: ENTERTAINMENT, IGN

Cult-classic rhythm strategy bundle Patapon 1+2 Replay is bringing two beloved PSP games to PC, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5 (PS5) July 11.

The two-pack remaster was revealed during today’s March 2025 Nintendo Direct alongside gameplay and its summer launch plan. It’s a move that finally allows two hidden-gem PlayStation games from the mid-2000s to stomp onto non-PlayStation platforms for the first time while updating them for PS5 players, too.

“Having lived in the desolate frontier for years, the Patapon tribe was driven from their home by the Zigoton army,” an official description from new publisher Bandai Namco said.

“This drove them to become fierce warrior spirits that can only be commanded by the beat of the war drum, played by the Mighty One (the player). Their wait has finally come to an end as the drums of war are heard once again by the Almighty’s return to guide the Patapon tribe through their adventures to fight against challenging enemies and return them to their homeland.”

Patapon 1+2 Replay seems to come with a few upgrades not seen in the 2017 PS4 remasters. Bandai Namco specifically lists upgraded graphics as one of the more noticeable additions, though returning Almighty will also notice added Easy, Normal, and Hard difficulty modes, as well as timing adjustment and constant command display options. While Patapon 1+2 Replay aims to bring the classic 2007 and 2008 titles to players better than ever, there’s no sign of the PSP’s 2011 title, Patapon 3.

Patapon may not be one of PlayStation’s more recognizable franchises, but it’s still a name that has been associated with the brand for nearly 20 years. It’s unclear why or how it’s leaping other platforms now or if the series will continue to blossom with any new entries in the future. There’s also been no mention of a potential Xbox version, so it’s best to expect Patapon 1+2 Replay on PC, Switch, and PS5 to be where things end for now.

For more on today’s news, you can catch up with everything else revealed during the March 2025 Nintendo Direct here.

Nintendo Switch 2 Image in the Nintendo Today! App Confirms Mystery Joy-Con Button Is Indeed the C Button

March 27, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: ENTERTAINMENT, IGN

Nintendo has confirmed the Nintendo Switch 2’s mysterious new Joy-Con button is indeed the C button, as had been rumored.

Confirmation comes from the just announced and released Nintendo Today! app, whose App Store and Google Play store listings include an image that, when looked at closely, reveals the C on the button.

The new button was revealed alongside the Switch 2 earlier this year, but at the time images of the new Joy-Con did not include a letter on the button. Prior reports indicated it was called the “C” button, and so it has proved.

There’s a great deal of speculation about this button. Some suggest it may relate to “casting” the Switch 2 to a TV wirelessly, or screen sharing of some kind. Others have wondered whether it’s the button to press in order to change the Joy-Con’s functionality, for example into mouse mode. There’s also speculation that the button may relate to new group or voice chat functionality.

Nintendo has announced a Switch 2 Direct for April 2, so hopefully we’ll find out more then. Until then, here’s what we know for sure:

  • Nintendo Switch 2 is out in 2025, probably not before June though if the hands-on event schedule is anything to go by.
  • Nintendo Switch 2 is larger than the original Switch, with larger Joy-Con that look like they can be used as a mouse.
  • There are two USB-C ports on Nintendo Switch 2, one at the top and the other at the bottom. The original Nintendo Switch had one.
  • The Nintendo Switch 2 is backward compatible, and the reveal video confirms the Switch 2 plays both physical and digital Nintendo Switch games, as well as Switch 2 exclusive games. Certain Nintendo Switch games may not be supported on or fully compatible with Nintendo Switch 2, however.
  • There’s a new Mario Kart game for Nintendo Switch 2.

Meanwhile, Nintendo just hosted a Direct focused on the original Switch (here’s everything announced). It was during this show that the Nintendo Today! App was announced.

Video game legend Shigeru Miyamoto spilled the beans on the company’s latest news push as a last-minute stinger during the showcase. This all-in-one phone application comes with a variety of perks for die-hard Nintendo fans to be aware of.

This hub for all things Nintendo serves as a daily calendar and news machine to drip feed information directly to players as it happens. Miyamoto used the example that, after the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct premieres next week, fans will be able to log into the Nintendo Today app to catch all of the updates, with more news arriving “daily” from there.

This Stylish Anker 10K mAh Power Bank is Just £7 at Amazon UK Today

March 27, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: ENTERTAINMENT, IGN

Power banks are more essential than ever, but the higher prices for reliable brands can always be off-putting, making this £6.99 deal on the Anker 313 with its 10000 mAh one of the biggest steals I’ve seen in the Amazon Spring Sale so far.

Originally £22.99, you also need to apply a 50% voucher coupon available until March 31. With its decent features and high-quality design, you’ll regret missing out on this one if you’re in need of a portable charger.

Depending on your exact device-charging needs, a power bank needs to be either bulky to hold multiple charges or modest for easy portability. The Anker 313 looks to offer the best of both worlds by packing a slimline design that doesn’t skimp out on power with its 10000 mAh capacity.

Anker also offers charging versatility with the 313’s inclusion of its exclusive PowerIQ & VoltageBoost technologies. While one delivers 12W charges, the other becomes optimal for low-power devices with a trickle-down mode, both making sure whatever you hook up receives the ideal charge without overloading.

While also built to last, the Anker 313 also boasts a comfort grip at the back, so when you’re charging your phone on the go, you can take both out of your pocket and use your device on the go without worry of slips.

The £6.99 you can pay is for the USB-C-only model. However, for £8 more, you can also buy the Anker 313 with a USB-C input and output at £14.99.

With 17% knocked off from £17.99 as part of Amazon’s Spring Deals Day sale, you can make use of the extra output slot to charge both the Anker 313 and a device hooked up to it simultaneously.

There’s sadly no 50% voucher for this one, but it’s still a solid go-to if you’re the type who looks to have multiple devices charged and ready to go in a quick amount of time.

The Stunning Lord of the Rings LEGO Model of Barad-Dûr is £60 Off Today at Amazon UK

March 27, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: ENTERTAINMENT, IGN

Instead of going all the way to Mordor, bring its coolest part right in your living room by building a LEGO Lord of the Rings model of Sauron’s central stronghold, Barad-dûr—now £339.99 thanks to a £60 price slash at the Amazon Spring Deal Days sale.

Made up of 5471 pieces, this makes for a detailed replica of Sauron’s signature fortress, where his giant, fearsome orange eye rests on top. Position it so it the Eye of Sauron can gaze at any who enter the room, be it elves, Hobbits, your Aunt Sheryl, or the puppy you and your partner just bought.

That £339.99 price tag doesn’t just go toward a plain black and grey tower either. As you put together this beast of a LEGO set, you’ll also assemble a variety of detailed features in this stronghold—like throne room fit for a dark lord, a weapons room, forge, and even a prison.

To populate this epic stack of bricks, the Barad-dûr model LEGO set also includes ten Lord of the Rings minifigures. These include favourite characters like Frodo, Sam, Gollum, Gothmog, the Mouth of Sauron, and even an Orc. There’s even one of Sauron himself clad in this iconic black armour, along with added accessories like helmets, his mace, light of Eärendil, and the One Ring.

For those looking to expand their LEGO collection of Middle Earth memorabilia even further, the Amazon Spring Deal Days sale has also knocked £64.50 off the very scenic Rivendell set, which packs its own special lot of features and minifigures of beloved characters.

Although not on sale at the time of writing, Amazon is also selling two LEGO BrickHeadz sets: one of Gandalf the Grey & the Balrog for £35.77 and Frodo & Gollum for £25.99. If you want your Lord of the Rings LEGO collection to be a bit more character-focused, these make for adorably brilliant additions.

A Working Man Review

March 27, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: ENTERTAINMENT, IGN

“At best this could be a Jason Statham movie,” reads a two-star Goodreads review of Levon’s Trade, the first of 12 novels following the exploits of Royal Marines commando-turned-construction worker-turned-vigilante Levon Cade. Well, congratulations to that clairvoyant user, because Levon’s Trade has now become the Jason Statham vehicle A Working Man – though the word “best” doesn’t belong anywhere in the conversation about it. The British action star can do, and has done, much better than this raggedy and aesthetically unpleasing adaptation, a lousy extension of his creative partnership with The Beekeeper director David Ayer (who performs the same role here) and his fellow Expendable Sylvester Stallone (who co-wrote the script with Ayer).

It starts off well enough, with Levon demonstrating his unique skillset on some nameless thugs trying to rough up one of his construction co-workers. He swiftly deals with them by throwing a bucket of nails, a bag of cement, and a fair few punches – choreography that makes fun use of the tools around him. But the fights grow excruciatingly dull from there. After Jenny (Arianna Riva), the teenage daughter of his boss, Joe (Michael Peña), is kidnapped, Levon investigates her disappearance, a quest that puts him in the unimaginatively depicted crosshairs of a one-dimensional drug-dealing biker gang, cartoonish human traffickers, and a Russian mafia brotherhood seemingly ripped off from the John Wick franchise.

The later parts of A Working Man lack thrills because there’s never any sense that Levon is genuinely in danger. He’s so superhumanly efficient and deadly, he makes easy work of every goon who squares up to him. Even Dutch (Chidi Ajufo), a drug baron and fellow former marine who spends most of his time sitting on a ridiculous chrome throne in the back of a biker bar, lasts about five seconds against our hero.

But it’s mostly over-zealous editing and tight framing of the gritty, unflatteringly colored images on screen that do Statham a disservice. He battles bad guys in the back of a van and Dutch’s bar without any of the visual finesse, thrilling use of space, or playfulness that we’ve seen in his past films like War, or in the Transporter and Fast and Furious franchises. A Working Man is very bash, bash, bash, break, break, break – copy-and-paste choreography that only grows lazier across a 116-minute runtime. That tediousness even sucks the life out of the operatic setup for Levon’s climactic confrontation with the bad guys, which takes place in an old house fit for a Meat Loaf video (complete with a piano on which Jenny, in one heavy-handed scene shoehorned between fight sequences, performs Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata). This should be the staging ground for some over-the-top entertainment, but sadly it’s not.

For all the ass-kicking qualifications Ayer and Stallone bring to a character like Levon (only to squander them), they’re not entirely equipped to deal with what makes him tick. Whatever he got up to in his previous 22 years of military service left Levon with untreated PTSD and violent rage, a mental-health issue that’s never really made clear in Statham’s drier-than-usual performance. It is used against him in a battle over custody of his daughter, Merry (Isla Gie), though. Levon’s wife’s offscreen death by suicide makes room for this threadbare subplot; “she battled depression” is all the explanation given. The bland direction of a scene where Merry tells her dad, “I’m mad at mama for dying,” offers zero emotional depth nor room exploration as the story progresses, typical of A Working Man’s laughable attempts to fill out its characters.

It’s also emblematic of the unintentional knee-slappers that clutter Stallone and Ayer’s script. “I don’t trust people, I trust biology,” Levon tells a drug-dealing bartender at one point. (Your guess as to what that means is as good as mine.) Stranger Things’ David Harbour makes an appearance as one of Levon’s former military comrades; after reflecting on how he’s still alive thanks to Levon, Statham comes in with a flat delivery of “I’m sorry I couldn’t save your eyes.” You’ll be forgiven for rolling yours.

A Working Man tops off its feeble fights, clumsy dialogue, and caricatured villains with some pretty outlandish costume choices. Peña seems to wear the same shirt and tie in all of his scenes, while Jenny and her college gal pals dress like middle-aged paralegals for a night out. (Has anyone involved with this movie met Gen Z?) Then there are the flamboyant tracksuits a pair of Russian mobsterswear for a joke that never lands, and the cheap-looking goth attire of the henchmen. It’s an ill-conceived world where everyone looks like guests at a fancy dress party no one quite understands the theme of.

VERDICT:

Score: 3
