Microsoft Xbox Wireless Controllers Are Down to as Low as $34.99 at Lenovo

April 9, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: ENTERTAINMENT, IGN

Lenovo just kicked off the best deals we’ve seen this year on official Xbox Series X wireless controllers. Starting today, the Pulse Red and Shock Blue colors cost only $34.99 after you apply coupon code “SPRINGGAMES“. The Carbon Black, Velocity Green, Astral Purple, Electric Volt, and Deep Pink colors are $39.99 after you apply coupon code “SPRINGBACK“. Not only are these the best controllers for the Xbox at this price, they’re also one of the best PC gaming controllers.

Update: Some color options are going out of stock.

Xbox Controllers From $34.99

Aesthetics aside, these Xbox wireless controllers are identical to the one that’s bundled with the Xbox Series X and S console. Standard features include textured grips, hybrid D-pad, button mapping with the Xbox app, a 3.5mm audio jack that works with any wired headset, and a Share button to upload screenshots and video.

The controller supports both Xbox wireless and Bluetooth connectivity. That means you can use it for your PC or mobile device. In fact, we think this is the the best PC controller you can get. If your PC doesn’t have Bluetooth, you can still use it in wired mode with a USB Type-C cable or go out and buy a Bluetooth or Xbox wireless adapter.

Best PS5 and PlayStation Deals Today (April 2025)

April 9, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: ENTERTAINMENT, IGN

If you’re on the hunt for some great PS5 deals, we’re here to help. Here we’ve gathered up some of the best PlayStation deals available at the moment, including the fantastic new PlayStation 5 Slim Astro Bot bundle. With this you’re getting Astro Bot for free alongside a new PS5 Slim console, what could be better than that? Another great deal is on Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which has dropped to its lowest price ever at Woot. You can see these deals and so many more below. Here are IGN’s top picks for the best PlayStation deals today.

PS5 Slim + Astro Bot Bundle

The PS5 Slim and Astro Bot bundle is one of the best PlayStation deals available at the moment. You can choose between the PS5 Slim Disc Edition console or the Digital Edition, which will set you back $449.99 and $399.99, respectively.

Astro Bot is a really enjoyable addition to a PlayStation library, too. IGN’s Simon Cardy said in his review that it’s, “A collection of endlessly inventive levels and fantastically fun abilities, it delivers joy in spades, never once becoming even remotely dull or repetitive.”

Best PS5 Video Game Deals

If you’ve been looking to pick up some new PS5 games, now’s a great time to do it with some excellent discounts available. From Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (now down to its lowest price ever) to Sonic X Shadow Generations to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, there are plenty of great deals worth checking out. Woot’s deals only last for a limited time, though. So if something catches your eye, act fast to pick it up at that price.

Best PlayStation VR 2 Deals

The PSVR2 Horizon: Call of the Mountain bundle has gotten a price drop down to $399.99, $200 off its original list price of $599.99. This package is a great value for everything you’re getting (the PSVR2 headset and controllers alongside the Horizon Call of The Mountain game), and pushes the PSVR2 as a strong contender against budget-friendly VR options like the Meta Quest, delivering a premium virtual reality experience without the eye-watering cost.

Sony also recently gave the PSVR2 a new lease of life by adding PC VR support, allowing owners of the second-generation headset to play PC VR games like Half-Life: Alyx, provided they have the new Sony-made adapter.

Best PS5 SSD Deals

PS5 games continue to grow in size, and with SSD prices climbing, finding the right storage at a great price is more important than ever. We’ve listed our favorite deals just here, but you should ensure you’re checking back here for more updates as often as possible, as new SSD deals pop up all the time.

Keep in mind that not all SSDs are compatible with the PS5. To ensure optimal performance on the best PS5 SSD, you’ll need a PCIe Gen4 x4 M.2 drive with a minimum read speed of 5,500MB/s to match the console’s internal storage.

Where to Buy: PS5 Pro

Launched with widespread availability – unlike the infamous scarcity of the original PS5 launch – the PS5 Pro is currently still in stock across major retailers.

The PS5 Pro is designed for gamers who prioritize graphics and performance, especially those with high-end TVs that can take full advantage of its power. But it comes at a premium: At $700 plus tax (and minus a disc drive), it’s an investment that only makes sense if you’re looking to elevate your gaming experience.

Not everyone needs it, of course; if you’re satisfied with your current visuals or aren’t particularly sensitive to frame rates, the PS5 Pro may be more of a luxury than a necessity.

Where to Buy: PlayStation Portal

The PlayStation Portal has come a long way since its launch. Initial skepticism surrounded the device, but over time, it has proven itself as a handy companion for PS5 owners.

Despite stock challenges and surges in demand, a new feature is making the Portal even more appealing to potential buyers. Sony recently rolled out an update for the PlayStation Portal, currently in opt-in beta, allowing PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers to stream games from the cloud.

This means you can now enjoy a library of games on the go—even if you don’t own a PS5. The update adds another compelling reason to consider the PlayStation Portal.

How to Trade in Your Old PlayStation Consoles

If you’re looking to trade in your old PlayStation consoles, you can do so at select retailers in-store and online. Often, the most widely available retailers are GameStop and Best Buy. However, you can also trade your used devices online at retailers such as Amazon and Microsoft.

Some retailers will offer you cash for your used goods, while others may provide you with a gift card that can be used in-store and online. This is a great way to offload your old gaming gear and get some money that you can put towards a newer console and games.

While trading devices in at retailers will often net you the lowest amount for your used consoles, there are also online marketplaces such as eBay, Craigslist, and OfferUp that may fetch higher prices, but you’ll often be responsible for packing and shipping costs, or be required to meet someone in person for the transaction. The latter of which poses its own risks.

Switch 2 GameCube Controller Appears to Be Compatible With GameCube Classics Only, According to Nintendo Small Print

April 9, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: ENTERTAINMENT, IGN

Nintendo GameCube is coming to Nintendo Switch Online alongside the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, with a classic controller on the way too. But some small print indicates that Nintendo’s new GameCube controller for the Switch 2 may only, officially, be meant for GameCube use.

Spotted in the details of the UK version of the Switch 2 GameCube controller trailer (thanks, VGC), a statement read: “The controller is only compatible with Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics.” This would indicate the GameCube controller is only going to work properly when playing GameCube games on the Switch 2 Online Expansion Pack, and not other Switch 2 games.

As VGC notes, it’s worth considering that other Nintendo controllers with similar disclaimers have not been fully limited. Players have been able to make retro controllers work where applicable. Also, the same disclaimer isn’t there in the Nintendo of America version of the trailer.

It’s still interesting, given the classic GameCube controller has enough buttons to manage many common gameplay inputs on the Switch 2. It could be a case of setting expectations, or trying to avoid frustrations if someone, say, tries to use their GameCube controller like a mouse.

Even if this particular GameCube controller isn’t your jam, Nintendo has confirmed the GameCube Controller adapter will work with the Switch 2 dock via USB port. Those who picked up the adapter back in the Wii U days are certainly getting some mileage out of the accessory.

The Classic GameCube controller for the Nintendo Switch 2 is planned to go live at launch with the new console, but the exact date those go up for pre-order hasn’t been announced yet. Pre-orders have been on shaky ground as U.S. tariffs have introduced a fair bit of chaos.

It’s a major update to the Nintendo Switch Online library that will grant subscribers access to a laundry list of classic 2000s-era titles, including The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, F-Zero GX, and Soulcalibur 2, which will all be available at launch this summer. Of course, this library will be expanded upon in the years to come, with some teased titles including Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi’s Mansion, Super Mario Strikers, Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, and more.

If you’re looking to pre-order a Nintendo Switch 2, GameCube controller, or other accessories and games, make sure to keep an eye on our Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order hub, which will stay updated with news and info.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Drops to Just £48 Using This Promo Code in the UK

April 9, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: ENTERTAINMENT, IGN

While still usually priced at around £55 minimum if you want to get a physical copy, you can grab Assassin’s Creed Shadows on PS5 for just £48.02 with Monster Shop on eBay.

Originally £56.49, already down from its base price of £69.99, you can get 15% taken off thanks to the “RALLY15” coupon code usable on any of the outlet’s items available in the store right now. Apply the code at checkout, and you’ll have £8.07 taken off with no delivery charge either.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is still priced at £69.99 for a digital copy on the PSN Store. So, if you want to own the game without paying £14.99 a month via the Premium tier of the Ubisoft+ subscription service, this is the best way to play on PS5.

If you end up playing through it quickly enough, you’ll then be able to exchange or sell the physical copy to make some money back and get the best level of bang for your buck.

The bargains don’t end there, however. Because the discount applies to every game on Monster Shop’s eBay store, you can net yourself some other great deals at 15% off — like getting a pre-order of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 for only £39.52 on PS5 or £37.40 on Xbox Series X|S.

An upcoming story-driven single-player RPG by new studio Sandfall Interactive, out on April 24, Expedition 33 has been quite the eye-catching game to look out for—catching our “undivided attention” during our preview.

As far as gripping narrative-based games go, based on first impressions, paying just under £40 on a pre-order is quite the steal in itself.

At Monster Shop’s full list of items on sale, there are some other decent PS5 deals you can get as well, like SpongeBob SquarePants: The Patrick Star Game for £25.49, Two Point Museum – Explorer Edition for £27.62, or Bleach: Rebirth of Souls for £40.37.

We currently don’t know how long Monster Shop is keeping the RALLY15 code active for, but it looks like the stock of the biggest games is selling out fast. If you’re keen for any of these new titles to add to your backlog, get on them while you can.

Did Daredevil: Born Again Just Confirm A Popular Foggy Nelson Fan Theory?

April 9, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: ENTERTAINMENT, IGN

Streaming Wars is a weekly opinion column by IGN’s Streaming Editor, Amelia Emberwing. Check out the last entry Daredevil entry: Daredevil: Born Again — An Unexpected Connection to the Netflix Series Could Right a Decade-Old Wrong.

This column contains spoilers for Daredevil: Born Again through Episode 8.

Fans were aghast when Foggy Nelson took his last breath in the series premiere of Daredevil: Born Again. After all the outcry and fanfare to get Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll back as Foggy and Karen respectively, it felt like madness that the first thing the writers did was tragically kill off one of the Avocados at Law. But eagle-eyed fans immediately noticed an Easter egg that may give hope that Foggy could have another day in court. The fan theory gained traction once it was confirmed that Henson would be in Season 2 of the series — despite the likely possibility that he’s in a flashback or a dream — and the end of Season 1’s penultimate episode offers one final tidbit that may confirm it all. Let’s go on a journey, shall we?

First, the Easter egg. The address for Nelson, Murdock and Page is 468. There have been 680 total issues of flagship Daredevil comics, but they’re not always numbered that way. The 468th issue of Daredevil is actually numbered Daredevil #88 (created by Ed Brubaker, David Aja, Frank D’Armata, and Cory Petit). In that issue? Foggy narrowly avoids death to go into witness protection. “The Secret Life of Foggy Nelson” has some differences from Daredevil: Born Again like, for instance, the fact that Foggy’s death in the previous issues “The Devil in Cell Block D” and “Heaven’s Half Hour” is way more ambiguous than Born Again’s version where Matt hears his friend’s heart stop beating while Karen screams on the street. But hey, the MCU has always been prone to take some liberties.

The question remains though: would they really bring Foggy Nelson back to life in Born Again after his death played such a pivotal role in the story arc so far? The official Daredevil account fueled the fan theory flames when they posted pages from Daredevil issues related to the arc of Foggy’s death being faked, but that could be as simple as a social media manager seeing an opportunity for engagement. What’s way more interesting now as we head into the last episode of Daredevil: Born Again is the revelation that Vanessa Fisk (Ayelet Zurer) was behind Foggy’s murder. We learn in the last moments of this week’s episode that it was she, rather than Fisk, who contracted Bullseye to pull the job which, once again, adds to the chances that Foggy might be alive after all.

Like before, the comic run plays out a little bit differently than what we’re seeing unfold on screen, with Vanessa being terminally ill in the comic but what’s important here are the parallels of her being frustrated with both Daredevil and her husband and her being the one to facilitate the whole Foggy Nelson death scare situation.

The fact of the matter is that there are a whole lot of parallels between the comic and what we’ve seen play out on screen, even if they aren’t 1:1. In addition to the possibly coincidental number 468 and Vanessa Fisk orchestrating everything, “The Devil in Cell Block D” features Matt being persecuted for being a vigilante. In Daredevil: Born Again, it is Hector Ayala (Kamar de los Reyes) being punished for his role as White Tiger. So, once again different, but also once again close enough to make you wonder.

But the real question kind of boils down to why. Why would Foggy agree to such a thing? Some have theorized that it’s to get Matt back for choosing the cowl after all of their back and forth in Season 3, others have wondered if he thought his death would be the only way to show Matt how far he would go as Daredevil when pushed, but I’m not quite convinced Foggy could be so cruel.

Frankly, while I definitely see the signs and want all of them to be true, I don’t know that I’m on board with the theory that Foggy Nelson is alive to begin with. I think it would be poetic if it were true, but my skepticism is because of Bullseye. He’s not missing a shot on an unmoving target unless he was paid handsomely to miss on purpose. The end of this week’s episode made it abundantly clear that he and Vanessa are not on good terms and, given that he was rotting in a cell and then was moved to gen pop against his will, I can’t imagine that money would be a meaningful motivator. Add that to the fact that he had ample time and plenty of reason to tell Matt that Foggy was still alive while he was begging his lawyer to get him moved back into solitude, and it just doesn’t add up.

That being said, I want nothing more than to be wrong here. Long live Foggy Nelson.

Microsoft Confirms Xbox Games Showcase 2025 for June, Plus the Outer Worlds 2 Direct

April 9, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: ENTERTAINMENT, IGN

Microsoft has solidified its plans for June, confirming an Xbox Games Showcase 2025 as well as an The Outer Worlds 2 Direct.

Microsoft normally hosts a June showcase to reveal upcoming Xbox games, and 2025 is no different. Xbox Games Showcase 2025 will be livestreamed on Sunday, June 8, starting at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern / 6pm UK time.

Xbox Games Showcase 2025 will offer a look at upcoming titles from across Microsoft’s first-party studios, Microsoft said, “in addition to incredible new titles from our third-party partners across the globe.”

So, what could Microsoft have up its sleeve? It has a long list of games in development, including the new Fable, which was recently delayed to 2026, the Perfect Dark reboot, inXile’s Clockwork Revolution, Ninja Gaiden 4, Contraband, from the developer of the Just Cause series, Rare’s Everwild, which Microsoft gaming boss Phil Spencer recently checked out, The Coalition’s Gears of War: E-Day, Hideo Kojima’s OD, and Undead Labs’ State of Decay 3. Psychonauts developer Double Fine is also working on a new game.

On the Activision Blizzard side of things, there will of course be a new Call of Duty game later this year, and various releases from Blizzard itself. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 launches in July, so that may make the cut.

As for Bethesda, could it finally be time to find out what’s next for Starfield? We are, after all, still waiting for that PlayStation 5 release date confirmation. Could we get a look at The Elder Scrolls 6?

And there’s always the potential for Microsoft to reveal new Xbox hardware. It is reportedly set to release a next-gen Xbox console as well as an Xbox handheld at some point in 2027, so this year’s showcase may be too early to find out more. But Microsoft may take the opportunity to touch on Xbox-branded handhelds from third-party companies.

And following in the footsteps of the 2023 Starfield Direct and 2024 Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct, this year Microsoft will follow its Xbox Games Showcase by The Outer Worlds 2 Direct. The Outer Worlds 2 is from Obsidian, which is fresh from the release of Avowed. The direct “will bring you inside the walls of Obsidian Entertainment, revealing new gameplay, details, and developer insights, straight from the people making the sequel to the award-winning, first-person sci-fi RPG.” The Outer Worlds 2 is expected out later in 2025, so it seems likely we’ll get a release date during the showcase.

Airtime for the Xbox Games Showcase followed by The Outer Worlds 2 Direct in local time zones:

  • PDT: June 8, 10am
  • EDT: June 8, 1pm
  • BST: June 8, 6pm
  • CET: June 8, 7pm
  • JST: June 9, 2am
  • AEST: June 9, 3am

Microsoft said the Xbox Games Showcase and The Outer Worlds 2 Direct will be digital-only, which means there’s no theatre experience for fans and media this year. But it promised that its livestream will bring fans “everything you’ll need to know about what’s next for Xbox, no matter where in the world you’re watching.”

Trump’s Tariffs Hit PC Hardware, Razer Gaming Laptop Removed From Sale

April 9, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: ENTERTAINMENT, IGN

The import tariffs imposed by U.S. President Trump are once again impacting U.S. gamers, this time affecting Razer’s Blade 16 gaming laptop.

Tariffs are essentially taxes placed on the cost of importing certain goods. While it’s possible for companies in the supply chain to simply eat these costs, more often than not these taxes are passed onto consumers. And unfortunately for gamers, rising prices are very likely to impact tech and gaming goods.

But some products are now being temporarily pulled from sale. As spotted by The Verge, although the Blade 16 had initially been listed for sale to the U.S. as recently as April 1, the option to order the laptop has now disappeared from the website entirely.

Whereas European gamers can order the all-new gaming laptop right now (well, if it’s in stock — it’s not in the UK), the U.S. site only invites prospective buyers to hit the “Notify Me” button to get updates — and there aren’t any prices listed whatsoever. The Buy Now page takes you to a 404 error page.

It’s not just Razer that’s quietly removed sale information until the markets settle down, either. The tariffs against China and Taiwan — where many PC components are made — will also affect U.S. players as firms like Micron, a memory manufacturer, warned of surcharges. PC company Framework has “temporarily paused” some U.S. sales completely.

Last week, the Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order date — initially listed as today, April 9 — was removed in the United States after import tariffs enacted by President Trump sent financial markets spiraling. Just a few days later, the issue spread across the border, with Nintendo Canada also confirming pre-orders would now be delayed there.

Nintendo fans and analysts are now concerned Nintendo will raise the price of the Switch 2 and its games even further, even as it suffers a backlash to its pricing following the console’s reveal.

Hades 2 Coming to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 as a Timed Console Exclusive

April 9, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: ENTERTAINMENT, IGN

Hades 2 is coming to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 as a timed console exclusive.

While we don’t yet have a firm release date, developer Supergiant confirmed the highly anticipated sequel would release on PC and Nintendo Switch 2, as well as the OG Switch, at the same time later this year.

We knew Hades 2 was coming to Nintendo’s beefed-up Switch 2 courtesy of last week’s Nintendo Direct, of course, but developer Supergiant has now confirmed that it’s not just coming to Switch 1 and 2, but it’ll be a timed exclusive on Nintendo’s console, too.

“Hades II v1.0 will launch simultaneously on our Early Access platforms (Steam and Epic Games Store), Nintendo Switch 2, and the original Nintendo Switch,” the team recently clarified on X/Twitter

Hades II v1.0 will launch simultaneously on our Early Access platforms (Steam and Epic Games Store), Nintendo Switch 2, and the original Nintendo Switch.

— Supergiant Games (@SupergiantGames) April 8, 2025

Right now, it’s not clear when Hades 2 will make the inevitable jump to other consoles like the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X and S.

Hades 2 is the sequel to Supergiant’s hit first game, mixing engaging storytelling and roguelite action elements in a dungeon-crawling experience.

“Hades 2 feels impossibly huge and unbelievably polished by any standard, much less an early access game,” we wrote in IGN’s Hades 2 early-access review, awarding it 9/10. “Mel is awesome, the new tweaks to the combat and progression are excellent, and it’s just unbelievably feature packed with twice the content of the first.

“What’s here right out of the gate is astounding, and the thought of more coming on the way is a tantalizing treat.”

For more, check out all the third-party games confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2.
