Progress! Sen. Mike Lee says ‘we’ve turned kind of a corner’ on SAVE Act
Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah (Screenshot)
Senate Majority Leader John Thune already has committed to bringing the SAVE America Act, which would provide vast new levels of security and integrity to American elections, to the Senate floor soon.
It’s already passed the House.
And now Sen. Mike Lee, the primary sponsor, has confirmed a “corner” has been turned in the plan.
“Look, I am guardedly optimistic. We’ve turned kind of a corner over the last few days,” he said.
“There’s been some uncertainty about exactly what procedure we will and will not be using. In the end, we’ve been working closely with Leader Thune and his staff, and they’ve been great to work with.
“What we’re coming up with is something that I think is best described as a hybrid version of the talking filibuster. But look, let’s not get mired down in nomenclature. What matters far more than what we call it is what we do with it.
“We’re going to bring it to the floor. We’re going to debate it for an extended period of time before filing cloture. And in my view—at least, I don’t want to speak for anyone else—this bill needs to remain on the senate floor before we file cloture for as long as it takes to get it done,” he said.
“Now, the fact that Leader Thune and his office have been willing to work with us on this, and that they appear open to a variation of that, is a good thing. So let’s keep up the momentum. Let’s encourage them to continue to do this. Let’s put the bill on the floor. Let’s make those who want to filibuster speak, and keep it on there as long as possible.”

The Gateway Pundit explained, “That means Democrats will be FORCED to take the floor and defend their radical anti-voter-ID agenda, possibly for HOURS or even DAYS, against a bill that 85% of the American people support.”

Earlier, Thune, a South Dakota Republican, confirmed plans to address the plan.
“I can’t guarantee an outcome on this legislation. But I can guarantee that we are going to put Democrats on the record,” Thune told lawmakers. “That they will be forced to defend their outrageous positions on these issues – and explain to the American people why common sense and the Democratic Party have parted ways.”
The plan would have Americans display a valid ID to vote in federal elections, require proof of citizenship when registering to vote, and require in-person voter registration for federal elections.
It also has states take all noncitizens off their voter rolls.
“Only American citizens should be able to vote in our elections. Period. This shouldn’t be controversial,” explained Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo. “If Democrats want to block something that the overwhelming majority of Americans agree with – be my guest.”
Democrats have alleged it will make it harder for minorities to vote, or the disabled. They even claim married women might not be able to register because they often change their last names when they are married, meaning their name would not batch their birth certificate.
Thune says such rhetoric is “unforgivable” and “insulting.”
“Either Democrats are just reflexively opposing this proposal because it originated from Republicans, or Democrats believe that there are in fact people out there voting illegally and that it’s benefiting Democrats, and they want to keep it going,” Thune told lawmakers Thursday

Ghislaine Maxwell’s Lawyer Says She Is Still Seeking a Trump Pardon, as the Epstein’s Accomplice Serves Her 20-Year Sex-Trafficking Sentence
Sentenced to 20 years in prison, Maxwell is seeking a presidential pardon.
Gmax is still looking for a pardon.
While all around the world the ‘Epstein files’ are causing ripples that affected the life of the rich and powerful, causing from reputational harm to criminal prosecutions, one woman continues to serve her sentence and dream of a pardon.
Jeffrey Epstein’s accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted of sex-trafficking and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
But after she collaborated with the DOJ by giving two days of testimony, she was transferred from the hard FCI Tallahassee in Florida to a ‘Club-Fed’ Camp Bryan in Texas.
But she wants more.
She has been trying to overturn her conviction and sentence by filing various appeals, and she is also still seeking a pardon from President Donald J. Trump, according to her lawyer.
Maxwell is portrayed in countless documents, emails and photos from the ‘Epstein files’.

Politico reported:
“The remarks from Maxwell’s lawyer, David Oscar Markus, came during an on-stage conversation at an American Bar Association conference with Barry Pollack, the attorney for another high-profile defendant, deposed Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.
During a discussion about their media strategy in which Markus derided reporting about Maxwell’s prison transfer to what some outlets have described as a ‘country club’-like prison facility, Pollack suggested one goal in talking to reporters might be to alter the public perception of a defendant in hopes of leniency from the president.
‘I can imagine, for example, maybe you’re hoping — not in that case, but in a case — to get a presidential pardon or commutation’, Pollack said, at which point Markus interjected with a smirk to say, ‘that case, too’.”
Epstein and Maxwell in one of his planes.
“Pollack continued: ‘and maybe if the public hates your client, thinks that you’ve already gotten a sweetheart deal, it may be politically more difficult for the president to do that. But maybe if you set the record straight a little bit, it’s a little easier’.”

“Serve Your Country”: Uncle Sam Seeks Investment Bankers For ‘Economic Defense Unit’
The Department of War is reportedly building a 30-person investment banking team, called the “Economic Defense Unit,” to deploy $200 billion in private equity over three years into defense companies and, more importantly, war unicorns, as the race to secure the Western Hemisphere and counter China, Russia, and Iran intensifies in the Trump era.
Seamfor reviewed a slide deck from the headhunting firm Heidrick & Struggles that says DoW is seeking to stack EDU with bankers from Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan, and Bank of America.
The presentation pitches bankers a once-in-a-lifetime chance to “serve your country” and deploy “more capital than most investors deploy in their entire careers,” as well as an opportunity to sell a large amount of stock tax-deferred.
Seamfor noted that EDU will report to former Cerebrus alums David Lorch and George K. Kollitides II, the former Remington CEO who is now a partner at private equity firm Alvarez & Marsal Capital.
Heidrick & Struggles’ deck also promises bankers “unmatched access to top-level government officials and privileged information flow—whatever you need, you can get.”
Finance influencer High Yield Harry published on X what he claims is the deck that headhunters sent to investment bankers.

North Korea Fires 10 Ballistic Missiles During U.S.-South Korea Freedom Shield Drills
Credit: President of Russia website
North Korea launched roughly 10 ballistic missiles on Saturday, escalating tensions in the region as the United States and South Korea continued joint military drills designed to deter exactly this kind of communist aggression.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said the missiles were fired from the Sunan area near Pyongyang at about 1:20 p.m. local time and flew roughly 350 kilometers before splashing into the sea off the North’s east coast, Reuters reported.
Japanese officials said the projectiles did not land inside Japan’s exclusive economic zone.
RTL Today reported:
Pyongyang recently dashed hopes of a diplomatic thaw with Seoul, Washington’s security ally, describing its latest peace efforts as a “clumsy, deceptive farce”.
Seoul’s military detected “around ten ballistic missiles launched from the Sunan area in North Korea toward the East Sea at around 1:20pm (0420 GMT),” JCS said in a statement, referring to South Korea’s name for the body of water.
The missiles flew a distance of around 350 kilometres, they said adding that South Korean and US authorities are analysing their exact specifications.
The South Korean military is ready to “respond overwhelmingly to any provocation,” JCS added.
Japan’s defence ministry also confirmed North Korea launched multiple ballistic missiles that reached a maximum altitude of about 80 kilometres and fell outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone near the Korean Peninsula’s east coast.
[…]
“Global attention is currently focused on the war in the Middle East and North Korea has historically carried out military provocations when it wants to draw attention to its presence,” Hong Sung-pyo, a senior researcher at the Korea Institute for Military Affairs, told AFP.
“And that motive likely underlies this launch as well,” he added.
The launch came as U.S. and South Korean forces carried out the annual Freedom Shield exercises, which both allies have repeatedly described as defensive readiness drills.
Of course, the Kim regime predictably lashed out, once again portraying lawful allied defense cooperation as some kind of “provocation” while it continues violating U.N. sanctions and threatening its neighbors with missile barrages.

Prominent DC NeverTrumper Admits to Collaborating with Epstein in Bid to Take Down Trump
For a committed NeverTrumper, opposing Donald Trump apparently excuses anything — including cultivating convicted sex criminals.
According to a Politico review of documents related to the now-deceased Jeffrey Epstein, Juleanna Glover, a Washington political insider with a long history of opposing Donald Trump’s political rise, engaged with Epstein for more than a year before his death in a federal prison cell.
Her defense now for the relationship? It was all about getting Trump.
The time frame for Glover’s extensive emails with Epstein was from late May 2017 to five months before his body was found in the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan in August of 2019.
When it started, Trump was in his first term, with Republican majorities in both houses of Congress, the “Russia collusion” smear was still gathering steam, the COVID nightmare was far in the future, and NeverTrumpers — conservatives and Republicans who swore they would “never” support Trump — were looking for every bit of ammunition they could use against his expected re-election bid.
Glover and Epstein were introduced by author Michael Wolff, another anti-Trump figure who was acquainted with both.
“I rolled the dice when Michael Wolff asked me to meet with Epstein against the backdrop of Epstein talking publicly about Trump,” Glover told Politico in a statement.
“My interactions with Epstein were in service to that objective; not to help him in any way or improve his image. Wolff was seemingly positioning me as someone smart enough for him to take advice from.”
At the time, Trump and Epstein had been estranged for years. Epstein had been convicted of soliciting a minor for prostitution and was a registered sex offender.
There had been no indication that Trump was involved in any of Epstein’s questionable activities — as there is no indication now — despite ferocious coverage of Trump from every angle in the establishment media.
But, as Glover explained to Politico, she thought she might get Epstein to damage Trump politically.
It came to nothing, if that was ever even true in the first place.
While Glover has told Politico she had two meetings with Epstein and three phone calls, the bulk of their interaction was via 31 emails, and Politico noted, “there are no emails between Glover and Epstein that show her soliciting information from him about Trump.”
The emails instead show Glover the political consultant using, or attempting to use, Epstein in a business sense for one of her clients — one Elon Musk, the founder of the Tesla electric car company.
They show her chatting about potential third-party presidential tickets that could defeat Trump in 2020.
“Their correspondence about centrist fantasy politics was only a small piece of a professional and political relationship that stretched across more than a year,” Politico’s Daniel Lipman wrote. “Their workaday messages about third party campaigns, conversations that could have easily been with a well-regarded opinion columnist, underline the degree to which a large number of influential people treated Epstein as if he was just another rich guy to be courted rather than a convicted sex criminal with a troublesome reputation.”
But the biggest takeaway from the Politico story is not so much what Glover and Epstein might have talked about, but the way she defended the relationship as simply another avenue of opposition to a man who’d been elected to the presidency against the expectations of the entire political establishment — left and right.
To be associated with the name Jeffrey Epstein now is politically and professionally toxic — just ask former Obama administration Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, now-former World Economic Forum President Borge Brende, or even Democratic Virgin Islands Delegate Stacy Plaskett, who called herself a “friend” of Epstein and whose texting relationship with the sex criminal extended to exchanging texts with him for instructions on what to ask former Trump attorney Michael Cohen during a congressional hearing in 2019.
Summers, Brende, and others have lost their jobs because of the Epstein association.
Plaskett is holding onto hers — so far, anyway — and interestingly, her explanation for her relationship with Epstein is the same as Glover’s.
“I believe that Jeffrey Epstein had information, and I was going to get information to get at the truth,” Plaskett told CNN on “The Situation Room” in a November interview.
Now, Plaskett is a Democratic left-winger, so there’s little that could be surprising there.
Glover, on the other hand, is a longtime political operative from the Republican side of the field. Her resume boasts service on the staffs of former President George W. Bush, former Vice President Dick Cheney, former Sen. and Attorney General John Ashcroft, and Sen. John McCain.
Her orbit, according to Politico, includes ardent NeverTrumpers like Lincoln Project co-founder Rick Wilson.
In short, if she was any more Beltway-Establishment-Republican, she’d be the Lincoln Memorial and the Eisenhower Memorial combined.
But both women have rolled out the same excuse for their associations with Jeffrey Epstein long after the legal world had branded him as among the most morally depraved of men — even if it had not punished him accordingly.
Both claimed they were seeking the real dirt on Donald Trump. The unspoken assumption, the quiet part, is that they believe — or at least they believe their listeners believe — that anything is excused if the goal is to defeat Trump and his supporters. It’s a glimpse into the hive mind of contemporary American politics.
It’s proof positive, as if any more were needed, that the only thing that matters to Trump’s opponents — whether they’re on the left or the right — is bringing him down.
And bringing down his supporters with him.
