A county judge in Milwaukee has been arrested by the FBI and now is facing two felony charges including obstruction for allegedly concealing an illegal alien sought by federal authorities for deportation and helping him escape federal agents, who were waiting at the court to arrest him.

It is Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan who now finds herself on the wrong side of the courtroom desk.

The 65-year-old appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Stephen C. Dries in the federal courthouse, but made no public comments. Her lawyer, Craig Mastantuono, however, claimed Dugan “wholeheartedly regrets and protests her arrest. It was not made in the interest of public safety.”

FBI chief Kash Patel said in a statement that was posted online, deleted, then reposted, “Just NOW, the FBI arrested Judge Hannah Dugan out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin on charges of obstruction — after evidence of Judge Dugan obstructing an immigration arrest operation last week. We believe Judge Dugan intentionally misdirected federal agents away from the subject to be arrested in her courthouse, Eduardo Flores Ruiz, allowing the subject — an illegal alien — to evade arrest. Thankfully, our agents chased down the perp on foot and he’s been in custody since, but the Judge’s obstruction created increased danger to the public.”

A report at Fox news said Dugan allegedly hid the illegal alien “in her jury room in order to stop that person from being arrested by ICE.”

The report explained when Dugan found out that the federal agents were intending to make an arrest, she “demanded that the officers proceed to the chief judge’s office. At that point, they say the judge left and that the undocumented individual’s hearing concluded and that he had quickly left the building.”

The situation developed on April 18 when the illegal was in for a court hearing.

Earlier, Dugan claimed that local reports about her behavior were not accurate.

Fox reported that state Rep. Bob Donovan, a Republican, charged, “In all my years of Milwaukee politics and public safety issues, working with cops, district attorneys, and judges, I have never seen a more irresponsible act by an officer of the court, let alone a judge, if true.

“This borders on obstruction of justice and I hope the FBI continues a thorough investigation and, if warranted, prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.”

The report said Dugan has worked with legal aid organizations over the course of her career.

The Washington Examiner said the U.S. Marshals Service confirmed Dugan was arrested at 8:30 a.m. Friday.

He initially was billed $600 for the ride. Then when he informed officials he had insurance, his billed was jacked up to $2,342, of which is insurance paid less than $1,100, leaving the rest for him.

“This is not satire. This is the state of healthcare in America—a lifesaving ambulance ride for my daughter. The state of California is penalizing citizens who have insurance,” he said.

He explained to the operator he got the bill for $600, then provided insurance information, and was billed more than double.

The first showed the state-mandated discount, he is told.

“Can I go back to the discount without the insurance?” he asks.

No, he is told. “Since you’re insured, you’re not eligible for the discount.”

How about canceling the insurance?

Not good enough, because that would have had to have been done before the service was needed, he’s told.

“You’re only eligible for the discount if you’re uninsured,” he is told.

He’s told, “This is just a new law that started in 2024—AB 716. The law is that you receive a discount if you’re uninsured. When we first send an invoice to the patient, we bill them as if they’re uninsured. If you’re insured, unfortunately, you’re not eligible for the discount.”

The Gateway Pundit noted Witt was interviewed by Fox:

“Your whole life you’ve been told, right? Like, you want to buy health insurance so that if something – God forbid – happens, then you will get a lower rate than if you didn’t have the insurance. Like, that’s what we’ve all been told our whole lives. And then the exact opposite happened. My real problem, I guess, is that it’s based off of insurance and why this bill wasn’t written based off of income… So in fact, you could have a higher-income family than me who decides to say, you know what? We’re not going to buy insurance. And now, all of a sudden, their ambulance bills are going to be cheaper, even though they’re higher income.”

He noted, “Sometimes when they go to legislate these things, I don’t know if they ran out of IQ points to get it done, but it just doesn’t make sense to me that you would offer discounts based on whether someone’s insured and not based off of their W-2 income.”

A federal judge Thursday temporarily blocked the Trump administration’s memo prohibiting race-based preferences and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs in schools.

The National Education Association (NEA) and the Center for Black Educator Development (CBED) filed the lawsuit against the Department of Education (ED) in March over the Feb. 14 memo reminding schools of their obligation to adhere to civil rights laws. The lawsuit claims ED’s actions violate federal law by “directing or controlling schools’ curricula,” violate the First Amendment and are “arbitrary and capricious.”

“The 2025 Letter targets speech based on viewpoint,” the court decision issued by Obama-appointed Judge Landya McCafferty reads. “It concludes that schools may not use DEI programs to ‘toxically indoctrinate[ ] students with the false premise that the United States is built upon ‘systemic and structural racism’’ or to ‘teach students that certain racial groups bear unique moral burdens that others do not’ in any “aspect[ ] of student, academic, [or] campus life.”

Not long after the February memo, ED launched investigations into over 50 universities over alleged “race-exclusionary practices.” On April 3, the department put out a memo notifying states they are required to certify all schools are in compliance with the order with a deadline that was later extended to April 24.

Several education officials vowed to take a stand against the administration’s rule.

DEI initiatives were heavily promoted under the Biden administration, which spend roughly $600 million on diversity training programs for teachers alone, which instructed them to “to take personal and institutional responsibility for systemic inequities” and acknowledge “systemic forms of oppression and inequity, including racism, ableism, ‘gender-based’ discrimination, homophobia, and ageism.”

Since returning to office, President Donald Trump has worked to root out DEI initiatives as well as lessons on critical race theory from schools and federal agencies, signing several executive orders banning the use of federal funding to support such topics, such as the day one order “ending radical and wasteful government DEI programs and preferencing.” Hundreds of documents outlining DEI practices have been scrubbed from the ED’s website, staff members have been placed on administrative leave and all DEI training has been halted under Trump’s direction, with widespread support from voters.

NEA, CBED and ED did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.

A report at the Post Millennial said the investigation conducted by Homeland Security Investigations initially targeted Nancy Cano, but then also involved the former judge, who has been barred from the court system by the New Mexico state Supreme Court.

“Initially, we came back here to arrest his wife, and as we started conducting our interviews and started looking at evidence, we subsequently arrested Mr. Cano as well,” explained Jason T. Stevens, special agent.

The former judge, Joel Cano, was in the courts in Dona Any County before his abrupt resignation.

Officials with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said the two are accused of conspiracy and evidence tampering. Tren de Aragua is a violent Venezuelan gang that has been designated as a foreign terror group.

The report explained, “Cano rented out property to Cristhian Oretega-Lopez, an alleged gang member, at his wife’s behest last year. They met Ortega-Lopez when he was hired by the couple to do homework for them, the criminal complaint reads.”

Prosecutors also charged that Cano’s daughter had firearms in the home and let Ortega-Lopez pose with them, and fire them.

Ortega-Lopez, who admitted to entering the United States illegally in 2023, was arrested and the firearms were seized weeks ago.

Stevens explained several others were living at the residence at the time, and all three, “we believe, are alleged members of that (Tren de Aragua). Obviously, we continue just to focus on the totality of the investigation instead of just zeroing out on them.”

ICE stated, “On April 24, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement executed a search warrant and probable cause arrest at a residence in the 1200 block of North Reymond Street in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Homeland Security Investigations special agents working with federal law enforcement partners, took Nancy Cano into custody as part of an ongoing HSI-led criminal investigation.”

A new poll found that a majority of federal employees who previously voted Democrat are geared up to act against the interest of their elected boss, President Donald Trump.

The data, released Thursday by the Napolitan Institute, shows that 76% of voters for former Vice President Kamala Harris working under Trump say they will “resist” his plans, while 75% say they would hypothetically disobey, or “do what [they] thought was best,” when given a legal order that they disagreed with. The Napolitan Institute said the numbers show a “deep partisan divide in the Administrative State” as Trump moves to bring the numerous halls of government in alignment with his agenda.

“Our research confirms that the Administrative State is not composed of thoughtful, nonpartisan experts who are making neutral decisions for voters,” Napolitan Institute founder Scott Rasmussen said in a press release. “The deep partisan divide within the federal bureaucracy and the shifting public opinion present significant challenges for the current administration.”

The survey asked respondents to “imagine that you were the head of a federal government agency” and “President Trump gave you an order that was legal but you believed was bad policy.”

“Would you follow the president’s order or do what you thought was best?” The questionnaire asked.

The results showed that 75% of bureaucrats who voted for Harris for president would “do what [they] thought was best,” in regards to Trump’s orders, while 9% were unsure and the rest would obey him. This contrasted with 80% of Trump-voting officials who said they would follow the president despite their disagreements, with 2% saying they were unsure and 18% saying they would not.

Harris supporters in the government also said their own “political efforts” will be to either “strongly resist” or “somewhat resist” Trump’s agenda by 56% and 16% said they would “neither support nor resist,” the Napolitan Institute found.

The group surveyed 500 officials “living in the National Capitol Region and earning at least $75,000 annually,” noting a margin of error of 4 percent.

Trump’s efforts to bring the bureaucracy to heel included a day-one hiring freeze “throughout the executive branch,” payouts for federal workers, funding cuts for left-wing priorities like transgender ideology as well as the creation of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which has cleaned house at several agencies.

“The silver lining is that with such high levels of chaos in this bureaucratic ‘civil war’, there may be an opening for the common sense voice of the American people to rise above the political noise and once again become the shaping force of the nation’s dialogue,” said Rasmussen.

It was only days ago that the Washington Examiner editorialized about the affinity Democrats have for violence.

Really bad violence.

The report noted more than half of Americans who “identify as ‘left of center’” think assassinating President Donald Trump is ‘justifiable.”

“That’s what a new study from Rutgers University has found. According to the survey produced by the university’s Social Perception Lab that asked 1,264 U.S. citizens about their attitudes toward political violence, 55% of all self-identifying ‘liberals’ believe killing the president is a justifiable means of pursuing their political goals.”

The Examiner explained, “This is the fruit of hysteria that Democratic politicians and their allies in the news media have nurtured in their followers for the past eight years. This is a political faction that considers ‘misgendering’ to be ‘literal violence,’ but it is one also building an assassination culture.”

The attitude really isn’t that new. Fox News reported months ago that Democrats’ violent rhetoric was exploding.

That conclusion followed two assassination attempts against Trump during his campaign in 2024, including one in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a bullet nicked his ear.

Trump has said he thinks God allowed him to escape that assassination attempt so that he could be president and help America.

That violent rhetoric included comments from both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris that Trump is a “threat” to democracy.

One Democrat, Rep. Dan Goldman, a Democrat, said Trump is so dangerous he “has to be eliminated,” and then quickly apologized.

Now those circumstances have drawn from Victor Davis Hanson, a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, a warning about what result the circumstances could produce:

He said, “So, they are lowering the bar on what’s permissible. And we’re going to see something like we saw with these two assassin[ation] [attempts]. I don’t want to predict it; I hope it never happens.”

He added, according to the Daily Caller News Foundation, “But if they keep this language up and you start to see polls that say 50% of self-identified leftists think it’s okay to shoot, and you see them romanticizing a assassin [allegedly] like [Luigi] Mangione, and you see them go fund an alleged murderer like Karmelo Anthony and basically saying that he was a victim and you see this [alleged] MS-13 wife beater who was pulled over for trafficking and let go and was found — yes, everybody, he was found by a immigration judge to have MS-13 ties. Even his wife did not deny it. She didn’t deny that she was beaten by him either.”

He explained the result is a growing risk of more assassination attempts against the president.

In light of the Democrats’ popularity being assessed as low as 27%, he said, there will be a desperation.

“I’m just watching this and I see that the more impotent they are and the less actual power they wield, and the less the public likes them — if you look at the polls of the Democratic Party, 29%, 27%, one poll I think was 23% approval — they react to that by being crazier and more strident and upping the, you know, not just ‘fascist,’ but the other day [Democratic Texas Rep.] Jasmine Crockett said that Trump was like worse than the MS-13 gang member, you know.”

In fact, Crockett claimed she believed alleged MS-13 member Kilmar Abrego Garcia was “less criminal” than Trump, the report explained.

Hanson said being created is a “climate of fear and legitimizing violence and something’s going to happen.”

A plan being pushed by lawmakers in Washington state actually would allow “infanticide,” according to a new report from a legal team that has announced its campaign to oppose the move.

The lawyers at the American Center for Law and Justice say they have written Gov. Bob Ferguson to urge him to veto Senate Bill 5093.

That piece, called “An Act Relating to Dignity in Pregnancy Loss,” actually would strip legal protections from newborns and victims of abuse and trafficking, they explained.

The ACLJ explains the problem. “At the heart of our concern is the bill’s repeal of Washington statute § 9.02.050, which criminalizes the concealment of a child’s birth. This law plays a vital role in protecting both mothers and infants from abuse, violence, and exploitation. Its removal opens the door for infanticide to be carried out without fear of legal consequence, very relevant in cases involving trafficking, coercion, or domestic abuse.”

The organization continued. “By decriminalizing the concealment of the remains of a child who was born alive and then died, it legalizes infanticide.”

Then, too, it cancels a coroner’s jurisdiction “to investigate the death of an infant after a botched abortion. Specifically, the bill strikes a key phrase from current law, removing the ability of the coroner to investigate ‘where death results from a known or suspected abortion.’ This dangerous bill effectively legalizes infanticide,” the report said.

The proposal would conflict with state law that already exists, specifically multiple criminal statutes, “including those concerning murder, manslaughter, and unlawful disposal of remains.”

Under state law now, the report said, “Infants born alive during abortion procedures must be given the same medical care as premature babies. SB5093, however, effectively legalizes disposing of the remains of a baby who was born alive after a botched abortion and removes the ability to investigate a ‘suspected abortion,’ thereby making it nearly impossible to enforce, creating a disturbing and unconstitutional disparity in equal protection under the law.”

In fact, the ACLJ documented, supporters have stated specifically what they are demanding: To block “investigations of certain abortions.”

The plan deserves a veto because it only offers “legal ambiguity” and “a weakening of law enforcement investigating authority,” will would cancel legal protections now helping infants who are born alive.

The governor of Illinois, a far-left extremist who is very confident of the influence he wields, has promised to fight President Donald Trump over El Salvador’s custody of an El Salvadoran citizen who was determined likely to be an MS-13 gang member who was caught in an apparent human trafficking scandal and is known to have abused his wife.

Gov. J.B. Pritzker, a billionaire several times over, also promises to punish El Salvador, and is being ridiculed for his agenda.

A few of the snarky comments that appeared in response were documented by RedState.

For example, there was, “You are such a clown. Imagine believing you matter to [El Salvador President Nayib Bukele].”

And, “You are on the wrong side of history here, dude. No one agrees with you.”

And, another noted Pritzker’s state is “in shambles, but [he] is once again playing international warrior – threatening El Salvador like he’s on a diplomatic mission.”

Maybe, said one, he should “read the Logan act.”

He also has revealed that his state possibly will boycott El Salvador.

The fight is over the Trump administration’s deportation and El Salvador’s present custody of Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

He’s suspected of being a member of the terror group MS-13, of being involved in human trafficking and abusing his wife. He was cleared for deportation by the judicial system, only he apparently wasn’t at that time supposed to be deported to El Salvador.

But he was, and that nation’s president has said he won’t be returned to the U.S., where he likely would end up going through another deportation process anyway.

The RedState report explained Pritzker told state agencies to review and possibly boycott any business with El Salvador.

He said, “The United States Constitution guarantees due process. We are witnessing Donald Trump erode our fundamental Constitutional rights in real time, and we must fight to restore the balance of power. The state of Illinois will stand up for the Rule of Law and do everything in our power (to) stop the Trump Administration from ripping apart our most basic rights.”

RedState explained, “In short, Pritzker is drawing a line in the sand and shaking his meaty fist in defense of … a gangbanger.”

The report also pointed out that Pritzker issued no call for “due process” “when January 6 protesters were denied due process.”

Or how about Hamas terrorists who still are holding captives, a year and a half after their terror attack on Israel.

The report continued, “Pritzker, it should be noted, did not look into boycotting Mexico when Baltazar Perez-Estrada, who illegally entered the United States from that country, murdered his wife. She lived in Carol Stream, Illinois. Perez-Estrada stabbed her dozens of times and nearly decapitated her. Nor did he order a review of government business with Ecuador or Venezuela when two illegal aliens from those countries were arrested in connection with the murder of George Levin in the ‘sanctuary’ of Chicago’s Norwood Park neighborhood. Levin was found bound and killed in January.”

President Donald Trump snapped at a reporter Thursday who accused him of not putting enough “pressure” on Russia to end its war against Ukraine.

Russia launched its deadliest attack against Kyiv, Ukraine, since summer of 2024, killing 12 people and causing over 16,000 to take shelter in local subway systems. Trump warned Russia that he will “not be happy” if the country continues to launch attacks against Ukraine and urged both countries to make peace.

“I didn’t like last night. I wasn’t happy with it and we’re in the midst of talking peace and missiles were fired. And I was not happy with it,” Trump told CNN’s Jeff Zeleny.

Another reporter then asked why Trump is “not putting more pressure on Russia” to stop launching attacks against Ukraine. The president said the administration is “putting a lot of pressure on Russia” to negotiate peace.

“Mr. President, why are you not putting more pressure on Russia? I know a lot of your Europeans want to see more,” a reporter asked.

“I’m putting a lot of pressure on Russia. They’re dealing,” Trump responded. “You have no idea what pressure I’m putting on Russia. I’m putting a lot of pressure. We’re putting a lot of pressure on Russia and Russia knows that and a lot of people close to it know or [Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store] wouldn’t be talking right now. The prime minister knows that better than anybody. He wouldn’t be talking right now, and he’s talking. And we’re putting a lot of pressure, I think [Russian President Vladimir Putin] wants to make a deal. We’re gonna find out very soon. But it takes two to tango and you have to have Ukraine want to make a deal too and they’re being hit very hard and I do believe they want to make a deal.”

Trump expressed disdain for the attack on Kyiv in a Truth Social post on Thursday, stating that it was unnecessary and “very bad timing.”

“I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying. Let’s get the Peace Deal DONE!” Trump said.

The president has also grown exasperated with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who stated that Ukraine will not recognize the Russian occupation of Crimea. Trump said on Truth Social Wednesday that Zelenskyy’s statement will “prolong the ‘killing field” and make it more difficult for a peace deal to be made.

“The statement made by Zelenskyy today will do nothing but prolong the ‘killing field,’ and nobody wants that! We are very close to a Deal, but the man with ‘no cards to play’ should now, finally, GET IT DONE. I look forward to being able to help Ukraine, and Russia, get out of this Complete and Total MESS, that would have never started if I were President!” Trump said.

A Minnesota prosecutor said she declined to bring felony charges against a state official whom police said vandalized six Tesla vehicles due to “public safety” and “recidivism rates.”

Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty explained Wednesday why a fiscal policy analyst under Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s administration qualified for pre-charge diversion for causing more than $21,000 in damages to Teslas. The left-leaning prosecutor dismissed mounting accusations that she is soft on crime, and asked why the community wasn’t talking about gun control instead.

“If [defendants] go through the traditional system and they have a felony conviction on their record, they are much more likely to come back and commit a new crime,” Moriarty said at a press briefing. “That is because a felony conviction destabilizes their lives, they may lose their job, lose their housing and it can just lead to future criminal activity.”

“We are very much focused on public safety,” Moriarty said. “Now … there are some people who want people to have felony convictions. That’s fine if that’s what they want, but that is not about public safety.”

Moriarty’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Minneapolis police previously released footage of the suspect, whom they said was Dylan Bryan Adams, a fiscal policy analyst for the state’s Department of Human Services. Videos appeared to show the suspect scratching and writing on the Teslas, mirroring a trend of attacks on the vehicles stemming from anger toward the vehicle company’s CEO Elon Musk’s politics.

A lawyer for Adams did not immediately respond to the DCNF’s request for comment. The attorney previously said Adams “is very remorseful for his actions and is beginning the process of making sure the victims are made whole financially.”

After answering questions about Adams’s case, Moriarty pivoted to advocate for gun restrictions, which the briefing had originally focused on.

“I think the puzzling thing about this is that that is a low-level property crime, and so why aren’t we talking about gun violence?” Moriarty told her audience. She went on to promote “extreme risk protection orders” allowing judges to revoke weapons from people they deem dangerous.

Moriarty ran for office on a platform focused on promoting alternatives to punishment in the justice system and has repeatedly been accused of giving too much leniency to criminals. Following public outrage, Gov. Walz moved in 2023 to remove Moriarty from a murder case in which she offered plea deals to juveniles charged with killing a young woman.

The lead prosecutor for a conservative-voting county in Minnesota said his office would likely have charged a suspect like Adams.

“Just so that no one gets any silly ideas in the North Metro from this story,” Anoka County Attorney Johnson said in a Wednesday Facebook post. “Offenders who commit a crime spree causing tens of thousands in damages to multiple victims will not be approved for pre-charge diversion in Anoka County. This is especially true if the lawlessness is politically motivated.”

“It makes it worse that the offender is a State employee in a position of public trust,” Johnson said.
