WATCH: Congressman asks if U.S. marshals could haul Trump to jail for ‘contempt’

Democratic Rep. Hank Johnson of Georgia asked a federal judge Tuesday if U.S. Marshals could haul President Donald Trump to jail for “contempt” for any legal cases that pertain to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Circuit Judge Timothy Tymkovich of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit testified Tuesday at a hearing held by the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property and the Internet. Tymkovich discussed a shortage of judgeships on the federal bench before Johnson asked about the marshals.

“If a president willfully failed or refused to comply with a court ruling, they could be held in contempt of court theoretically, but it would be up to the U.S. Marshals Service, which is a part of the Justice Department, to be the enforcement arm for the federal courts. Is that correct?” Johnson asked.

WATCH:

“Your hypothetical would have to play itself out,” Tymkovich said.

Since President Donald Trump established DOGE by rebranding the United States Digital Service in a Jan. 20 executive order, the agency has faced legal challenges from government employee unions and Democratic state attorneys general.

“It would be the U.S. Marshals, who fall under the Department of Justice, who would have to carry out the contempt order,” Johnson said. “And so what would happen if the U.S. Marshals Service, under the command of the Justice Department, at the direction of the president, refused to carry out a court order of contempt? What — what would then be the state of our democracy?”

“Again, I’m here on behalf of the judicial conference to talk about the shortage of judges that we have, and I would comment on those needs in particular,” Tymkovich said.

Johnson previously asked if the deployment of additional military personnel to Guam would cause the island to capsize. He also claimed that classified documents were planted in the house of then-President Joe Biden.

(JUST THE NEWS) — Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem on Tuesday announced the creation of a new registry in the agency that requires illegal migrants to register and be fingerprinted.

The department said it will enforce the 1952 Immigration and Nationality Act, and urged illegal migrants to deport themselves on their own before the United States gets involved.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem announced that she will be enforcing the Alien Registration Act.

Kristi: “The Alien Registration Act says that within 30 days of being in this country illegally, someone must register with the federal government, and they will be fingerprinted.”

“President Trump and Secretary Noem have a clear message for those in our country illegally: leave now. If you leave now, you may have the opportunity to return and enjoy our freedom and live the American dream,” an agency spokesperson said in a statement.

‘Perverse incentive’: Ex-Dem congressman publicly names ringleader in Biden cover-up

Former Democratic Minnesota Rep. Dean Phillips called ex-Biden adviser Mike Donilon one of the “ring leaders” attempting to keep former President Joe Biden in the 2024 race, warning that people like him are only concerned with “self-preservation.”

Before Biden dropped out of the 2024 race in July of that year, Democrats supported the former president, attempting to dismiss concerns from Republicans about his mental fitness. During an interview with Harvard’s Institute of Politics on Feb. 13, Donilon said the party had “lost its mind” over Biden’s disastrous debate performance, adding that sometimes people simply have “terrible debates.”

On “The Ingraham Angle,” guest host Kayleigh McEnany asked the former Democratic representative if Biden would “have prevailed” if he had stayed in the race.

“Now Kayleigh, Mr. Donilon, with all due respect, was one of the ring leaders of the cover-up,” Phillips said. “You know that wasn’t just a bad debate. That was a symptom of a president who was reaching the end of his first term not on solid footing and was not going to win that race no matter what and surely could not serve another four years.”

WATCH:

Before Biden took the debate stage against President Donald Trump on June 27, advisers to the former president touted his policies and what they said was his mental fitness. Former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre attempted to downplay concerns, accusing Republicans of creating a negative narrative and dismissing videos of Biden appearing confused or stumbling over his words as “cheap fakes.”

However, after Biden was seen struggling to finish his statement and freezing mid-sentence during the debate with Trump, lawmakers, donors, and pundits called for Biden to end his campaign.

“Mr. Donilon knows that, but we have this really perverse incentive in Washington D.C. on both sides of the aisle to protect and preserve your proximity to power,” Phillips said. “I’m afraid Mr. Donilon, like so many others on your show, and on all the evening cable shows, say the same thing months down the road and forget where they were when the real issues happened.”

“I’m afraid he’s just one of them, and that’s the problem,” Phillips said.  “People more concerned about their self-preservation than their principles. Yeah, power is intoxicating. We see it all too much in Washington.”

Since Trump’s win, which cost Democrats their stronghold on key voting blocs, the party has struggled to unify behind a single message as the midterm elections approach. Major party donors are reportedly pausing donations to left-wing activist groups due to the party’s failures, causing many to struggle for cash, according to the New York Times.

‘No more tunnels, no more fear’: Watch Trump video envisioning Gaza paradise

(THE HILL) — President Trump on Tuesday evening shared a video using artificial intelligence (AI) that showcases his proposals for the potential development of the war-torn Gaza Strip, complete with a golden statue of his likeness and beachfront skyscrapers rising from the rubble.

The 33-second video, which the president shared on Truth Social, starts with a shot of the city in ruins after the Israeli military’s 15-month bombardment campaign. Text on the screen then reads “Gaza 2025 — What’s next.”

The video also features bearded men in bikini tops.

The AI footage then pans to a scene of presumably tech billionaire and senior advisor Elon Musk enjoying a meal and laughing, as the sun shines and people dance around him.

State copies Trump’s federal DOGE force, creates its own efficiency panel

President Donald Trump and his executive branch Department of Government Efficiency, run by billionaire Elon Musk, are working to save American taxpayers perhaps up to a trillion dollars.

Already, estimates are that $65 billion has been cut from federal spending.

Now states are getting in the act.

Although they don’t deal with trillions of dollars, savings of millions, hundreds of millions, even billions, will impact taxpayers significantly.

Just the News documents how Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has announced his state’s version, the State Department of Governmental Efficiency Task Force.

“Florida has set the standard for fiscally conservative governance, and our new Florida DOGE task force will do even more to serve the people of Florida,” DeSantis explained. “It will eliminate redundant boards and commissions, review state university and college operations and spending, utilize artificial intelligence to further examine state agencies to uncover hidden waste, and even audit the spending habits of local entities to shine the light on waste and bloat.”

It’s actually not an entirely new concept in the state, as it has “eliminated dozens of unnecessary boards and lifted needless regulations,” already saved billions for residents, and paid down 41% of state debt while boosting rainy day funding by more than $9 billlion – all since DeSantis took office in 2019.

The state said the new task force will use a variety of methods to target and eliminate bureaucratic bloat, including artificial intelligence.

Its goals include eliminating another 70 boards and commissions, taking a deep dive into “all facets of college and university operations and spending,” and look at local government spending.

“Florida will utilize AI to supplement ongoing efforts to review operations at our state agencies and identify more ways to cut unnecessary spending and eliminate bureaucracy,” the report said.
