‘As good as it gets’: Americans are happy, but media concealing it to ‘slow support’ for Trump

Americans are happier with their government than they been for a really, really, long time but that fact is being suppressed by the “liberal media” because members of that industry hope “to slow the support for President Donald Trump and his second-term agenda.”

That’s the verdict from Washington Examiner’s columnist Paul Bedard, who explained that Americans now “have the best outlook for the nation they have ever had, a remarkable turnaround so far kept secret by much of the media and Washington,” which is hoping to undermine Trump.

FULL INTERVIEW: Rasmussen Polls Highest Number EVER of Americans Saying Country is on the Right Track and is President Trump Laying the Foundation For the End of The Federal Income Tax? @Mark_R_Mitchell @Rasmussen_Poll pic.twitter.com/HCP7p5t8qw

— WorldviewTube (@WorldviewTube) February 14, 2025

He reported the results are from Rasmussen Reports pollster Mark Mitchell who explained to the Washington Secrets column that for the last week, “likely voters who believe the country is headed in the right direction have been about even with those who believe it is headed in the wrong direction.”

Then last week “right direction” came in a point higher than “wrong.” And Trump’s approval soared to 54%.

“Trump approval hit 54%, net plus-10, and on Thursday, right direction tied the out all-time high. But here’s what’s crazy. Right direction exceeded wrong track by 1 point, which has never happened in our polling, ever,” Mitchell explained.

That, he said, is “pretty much as good as it gets.”

The report noted that just as Joe Biden was preparing to exit the White House, wrong direction was at 61%, to right direction 30%.

“And in its poll released Monday, likely voters picked Trump as the ‘best’ president of all recent presidents. He was judged ‘best’ by 34%, followed by former President Barack Obama at 32%,” the report said. “But he was also judged the ‘worst’ by the highest share,” revealing the deep extent of division in the country after four years of Biden.

Instead of reporting on the results, however, “the liberal media have instead spun out negative stories about his Department of Government Efficiency and international strongarm efforts that have, so far, worked to cut waste and led to de-escalation in world hot spots.”

Mitchell described the atmosphere among the deep state in Washington.

“It turns out people like where Trump and Elon Musk are going, and now people in D.C. are panicking, searching for terms like defense lawyer, extradition, and immunity.”

‘Weaponizing language’: White House hammers AP for ‘partisan’ misinformation

February 17, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: THE NEWS, WND

(Video screenshot)

(Video screenshot)

For decades the AP stylebook, promoted widely to the world’s news industry, had been advertised as a standard go-to source for spelling, punctuation and appropriate references to a wide range of issues.

Then, a few years ago, it turned left, insisting that “they” was grammatically correct for a single person, that “a person’s sex and gender are usually assigned at birth by parents or attendants” and that can be “inaccurate.”

It warns against writing things that could “cause feelings of gender dysphoria” to resurface.

On the topic of the Second Amendment, it insists on calling semiautomatic rifles “assault weapons,” even though that term already was used for “fully automatic weapons used by the military.”

It insults those who don’t accept the propaganda about global warming line for line as being “doubters.”

The New York Post once reported that its “progressive bias is out of control.”

The report explained, “While it may have started out as an objective source, as with so much of the media it serves, the Stylebook has long since discarded fairness for a liberal bias that betrays the goal of its authors and tilts the playing field against conservatives.”

And now we’re learning that dispute is at least a part of President Donald Trump’s battle with the legacy wire service.

The AP’s refusal to go along with Trump’s by-the-book name change of the Gulf of America, from the former Gulf of Mexico, prompted the White House to limit AP access to some Oval Office and Air Force One events.

The wire service immediately complained of First Amendment violations but while the First Amendment protects what it writes, and still does, there’s nothing in the First Amendment specifically giving the AP access to those presidential locations.

President Trump’s decision to limit AP reporters’ access is as much fight over the Gulf of America as it is a protest of what White House advisers say is years of liberal word choices that AP’s influential stylebook has spread across mainstream mediahttps://t.co/H7hJrsY44r

— Marc Caputo (@MarcACaputo) February 17, 2025

Taylor Budowich, deputy White House chief of staff, said, “This isn’t just about the Gulf of America. This is about AP weaponizing language through their stylebook to push a partisan worldview in contrast with the traditional and deeply held beliefs of many Americans and many people around the world.”

According to a report at RedState, the White House moves have “a lot to do with how they’ve (AP) conveniently adjusted their stylebook over the years to accommodate leftist dogma.”

“By spotlighting AP, Trump is amplifying Republican and conservative criticisms that the AP Stylebook, a first reference for most U.S. news organizations, shapes political dialogue by favoring liberal words and phrases concerning gender, immigration, race and law enforcement.”

The report noted AP may resort to courts to force “a change back to the status quo as least as far as press access goes.”

But the report explained, “In the meantime, Trump and his team are shining a mega-spotlight a big problem with the media outlet over the fact that they really aren’t neutral observers and recounters of current (and past) events and haven’t been for quite some time.”

The White House earlier confirmed it had promised to call out lies by the media, and with AP, it was doing exactly that, as the name formally has been changed to Gulf of America.

The White House said earlier, “The Associated Press continues to ignore the lawful geographic name change of the Gulf of America. This decision is not just divisive, but it also exposes the Associated Press’ commitment to misinformation.

“While their right to irresponsible and dishonest reporting is protected by the First Amendment, it does not ensure their privilege of unfettered access to limited spaces, like the Oval Office and Air Force One. Going forward, that space will now be opened up to the many thousands of reporters who have been barred from covering these intimate areas of the administration. Associate Press journalists and photographers will retain their credentials to the White House complex.”

— Taylor Budowich (@Taylor47) February 14, 2025

It was the Daily Caller News Foundation that earlier reported when CNN senior political commentator Scott Jennings poked fun at AP for “not dealing in reality” over the issue.

“We have a lawful process in this country for changing the name of it, the president went through it with the Secretary of Interior [Doug Burgum] by the way … We also have the ability to change this body of water,” Jennings said. “I think, look, this smacks to me of a news organization looking for a way to pick a fight with Donald Trump over something that they don’t need to pick a fight over. He is the president and there is a lawful process that he went through to do it, so why won’t they just respect that?”

He continued, ““Why would I respect a news organization that doesn’t live in reality?”

One social media commenter suggested, “I think it’s alarming that the AP continues to deadname to Gulf. It identifies as American now and it should be respected.”

RedState also pointed out that AP has accepted funding for specific reporting beats.

‘This is lunacy’: Trump’s new Energy secretary implores Europeans to ‘return to sobriety’ on climate, energy

On the heels of Vice President JD Vance challenging Europe’s regulatory, energy, and security environments in Paris and Munich, President Donald Trump’s newly minted energy secretary, Chris Wright, piled on in a virtual address at the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship (ARC) conference in London.

Wright particularly called out Net Zero 2050 in his conversation with Chris Uhlmann of Sky News. “Net Zero 2050 is a sinister goal,” he said. “It’s terrible.”

Energy policies like Net Zero 2050, “have not delivered any benefits, but it’s delivered tremendous costs,” Wright said.

The energy secretary suggested these costs go far beyond the gas pump or a family’s energy bill. It materializes in the form of large-scale deindustrialization, which impoverishes workers and increases inequality. He cited the United Kingdom as an example:

If you make energy more expensive and less reliable, as the United Kingdom has done over the last couple of decades, you lower the standard of living of your population, shrink their opportunity set, and you simply export your industry.

No one’s going to make an energy-intensive product in the United Kingdom anymore. It’s just been displaced somewhere else. It’s going to be made in a coal-powered factory in China, loaded on a diesel-powered ship to get down the river, on a bigger diesel-powered ship to be unloaded at the docks in London.

Wright said this cycle “is not energy transition.”

“This is lunacy,” he said. “This is impoverishing citizens for the delusion that this is somehow going to make the world a better place.”

Wright fielded a question from Uhlmann about Vance’s remarks Friday.

“Energy realism is critical if you want to have humanism,” he said, specifically addressing Vance’s critique of European energy policy.

“Germany itself has spent a half a trillion dollars in an attempt to revolutionize or change their energy system,” Wright explained. “They went from 80% of their primary energy from hydrocarbons to 74%. They didn’t switch away from hydrocarbons; they just invested in a whole new energy system that added tremendously to costs.

“[Germany] doubled—more than doubled—the capacity of their electrical grid, and delivered 20% less electricity at two to three times the cost,” he added. “This is a proud, great industrial nation in Germany.”

“What I would love to see is the return to sobriety,” Wright told the crowd assembled in London. “And it’s not just in Europe. We have plenty of it in the United States as well.”

When I skydived with the president

February 17, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: THE NEWS, WND

With today being Presidents’ Day, I thought I’d share with you my personal stories of being friends with two modern presidents whom I grew to love like family. One I even skydived with!

But first, a little interesting background information on this day if you didn’t know it.

Presidents’ Day started as a day to remember George Washington’s birthday and eventually evolved into a day to honor all U.S. presidents.

Americans began celebrating Washington’s birthday on Feb. 22 after his death in 1799.

In 1862, Lincoln issued a presidential proclamation to celebrate Washington’s birthday.

In 1879, Washington’s birthday became a federal holiday.

But with Lincoln born on Feb. 12 and Washington on Feb. 22, the nation created one day to celebrate them both.

So, in 1968, the Uniform Monday Holiday Act moved President’s Day to the third Monday in February.

Over time, the idea behind Presidents’ Day evolved not only to recognize Washington and Lincoln, but all presidents, as well as to celebrate the office of the presidency itself.

Who are my favorite presidents? I’m glad you asked!

I’m a big fan of America’s founding presidents, but if I have to choose, in more modern times, my favorites presidents were Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush.

I met President Reagan in the 1980s when I accepted an invitation from first lady Nancy to her White House celebrity tennis tournament.

One day Nancy’s assistant called my office. She explained that the first lady was having a tennis celebrity event at the White House, and she wanted to invite me to participate.

My assistant said she would call me and then let her know if I would be able to make it to the event.

When my assistant called me and explained Mrs. Reagan’s personal invitation, I replied that I definitely wanted to go.

But then when I hung up the phone, it dawned on me that I had never played tennis in my life!

So, I hired a tennis teacher to give me 10 days of intensive lessons before I had to fly to Washington, D.C.

It was a lot of fun playing in the White House tennis event. I had a great time. I didn’t play so great, but at least I didn’t embarrass myself!

After the event, those participating were all invited to a special evening at the White House, during which we would have the opportunity to meet President Reagan.

When I met him in person, I immediately knew that he was not only a fine man but also a great leader for our country.

A few years later, during Reagan’s second term in office, I was invited back to another event at the White House. This time I had the pleasure and honor to talk a little more with the president and first lady. They were among the most wonderful people I had ever met.

Here I am at the White House with the Reagans.

When President George H.W. Bush and first lady Barbara succeeded the Reagans, my wife, Gena, and I became even closer friends with them because we worked together over the years in lots of charity work.

In 1990, President Bush even helped us start our nonprofit foundation and life’s mission for students, Kickstart Kids (KSK), which helps middle-school students develop their character (and health) through karate. (In 1990, KSK was first called, “Kick Drugs Out of America.”)

President Bush helping me to start Kickstart Kids.

President Bush, first lady Barbara, Gena and I shared many wonderful and memorable times together over the next few decades, especially because they lived only an hour away from us in Texas.

One of the most fun was when I went skydiving with President Bush! No joke!

In 2004, I was asked by President George H.W. Bush to skydive with him in celebration of his 80th birthday. Yes, his 80th! (As a former World War II pilot, he used to celebrate every fifth year of his life by skydiving.)

Once I realized President Bush was serious, I thought, “If he’s willing to skydive at 80, then how can I refuse him at 64?!”

We jumped in tandem with members of the U.S. Army Parachute team, the Golden Knights.

We landed in a large field near the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library in College Station, Texas, where he also landed five years earlier in a similar skydive for his 75th birthday. (Believe it or not, Bush skydived two more times, on his 85th and 90th birthdays!)

President Bush and I skydiving on his 80th birthday.

In 2009, I was super honored to receive the McLane Leadership in Business Award from President George H.W. Bush, given for my achievements in sports, entertainment and philanthropy.

I couldn’t be more grateful to be chosen for that award by a man whom I had admired for more than 20 years at the time.

On our way home after the award evening had concluded, I asked Gena how my speech had gone.

She said, “It was great, and it was so cute, too, because after you would say something funny, Drayton McLane (owner of the Houston Astros) would lean over to me and say, ‘Boy, he sure is funny!’ And then when you would say something endearing, President Bush would lean over to me from the other side and say, ‘Boy, he sure is sweet!’”

“Oh,” I replied. “In other words, I’m a sweet comedian!”

In all sincerity, when they were all alive, Gena and I felt very privileged and blessed to have called the Bushes and the Reagans our friends. They all were the most genuine, benevolent, and amazing people we’ve ever met, and our country is better off for them leading us.

The Bushes, Gena, me, and our friends Keith & Alice Mosing.

We think of the Reagans and Bushes fondly on this President’s Day as well as all the other great presidents America has had to lead her, including of course President Trump!

Happy Presidents’ Day to y’all!

Judge who ruled against Trump spending cuts apparently has serious conflict of interest

A federal judge who ruled against President Donald Trump’s announced freeze on federal spending has been found by a legal organization to be an executive of an organization that has taken millions of those federal dollars, meaning the judge, in his ruling, chose to stop a program that could reduce funding for an organization for which he’s been a board member or executive for years.

The problem is for John McConnell, the Rhode Island judge who stopped Trump’s temporary spending freeze, a move announced so that expenditures and handouts could be evaluated as part of Trump’s agenda to eliminate fraud, waste and abuse in the federal government.

Trump set up the executive Department of Government Efficiency and tasked Elon Musk with that chore to fulfill his campaign promise, which voters endorsed, to cut federal spending and eliminate those problems, even identifying individuals who may be taking advantage of the system.

The report is from America First Legal, which posted an extended series of statements on social media explaining its findings.

The report explains over the 18 Years McConnell has been on the board of Crossroads Rhode Island, that group has taken some $128 million in government funding.

/12 Federal law, 28 U.S.C. § 455, requires judges to disqualify themselves “in any proceeding in which [their] impartiality might reasonably be questioned.” pic.twitter.com/mOSomMgwUc

— America First Legal (@America1stLegal) February 16, 2025

“When Judge McConnell ruled against the Trump administration and required federal taxpayers to continue funding the state of Rhode Island, it seems that he also required continued funding for his pet ‘non-profit,’ Crossroads Rhode Island,” the report said.

That organization has been getting funding from the state, through which federal dollars for various projects flow.

The report said McConnell previously was the chairman of the board of that group, and currently is listed as chair emeritus.

“In fact, Judge McConnell has appeared as a director on Crossroads’ IRS Form 990 every year since he took the federal bench in 2013,” the report said.

The AFL report explained, “It is common practice for the federal government to disburse money to the states, which then hand it out to NGOs like Crossroads Rhode Island. Here, Judge McConnell ordered taxpayer dollars to continue flowing to the states, including Rhode Island… USA Spending shows that in the past 15 years, 155 federal grants to Rhode Island state and local governments list Crossroads Rhode Island as a sub-awardee. In FY2023 alone, the organization’s audit shows that more than $10 million in federal funding flowed through Rhode Island.”

The social media thread also points out, “Federal law, 28 U.S.C. § 455, requires judges to disqualify themselves ‘in any proceeding in which [their] impartiality might reasonably be questioned. The law further requires judges to disqualify themselves when they are a fiduciary or have any other interest that could be substantially affected by the outcome of the proceeding.’”

Directors of nonprofits have a fiduciary responsibility to act in the best interests of the organization, under Rhode Island law, and, “Given the heightened public scrutiny of this case and the profound constitutional implications inherent in binding the actions of the president of the United States, the appearance of a conflict of interest is highly problematic, to say the least,” the report said.

AFL said McConnell “must recuse himself immediately.”

And a report at Clash Daily said, “The problem with judge-shopping to push your case through, there’s always the chance that the judges you are counting on to push your agenda have their own skin in the game. That’s the case with a judge who has offered very dubious rulings on whether Trump can suspend his USAID money. We’ve got a thread from America First Legal making the case online that Judge McConnell, the Rhode Island judge who put an end to Trump’s spending freezes, ought never to have heard that case in the first place.”

— America First Legal (@America1stLegal) February 16, 2025

The report explained if Trump is successful freezing spending, that funding for McConnell’s group also gets cut.

The judge, meanwhile, has claimed that the Trump administration has violated a court order by refusing to reverse a spending freeze and start handing out billions of dollars again.

The report continued, “Judges are expected to recuse themselves from cases in which they have any personal stake in the outcome. When a company on whose board you sit is downstream of the threatened funding to the tune of millions of dollars… that would be an example of a reason to recuse. And yet, he heard the case anyway. Ruled on it, even. And wouldn’t ya know it, the ruling happened to align with his personal interests.”

Elon Musk bombshell: ‘This might be the biggest fraud in history’

Bela Lugosi as Dracula in the 1931 movie classic.

Maybe there are vampires after all.

And they’re collecting Social Security.

That stunning conclusion comes from Elon Musk, chief of President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency, and is a result of DOGE’s initial review of the nation’s Social Security, its payouts, and more specifically, those getting the benefits.

According to the Social Security database, these are the numbers of people in each age bucket with the death field set to FALSE!

Maybe Twilight is real and there are a lot of vampires collecting Social Security pic.twitter.com/ltb06VX98Z

— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) February 17, 2025

Musk posted on social media the comment, “According to the Social Security database, these are the numbers of people in each age bucket with the death field set to FALSE!”

He continued, “Maybe Twilight is real and there are a lot of vampires collecting Social Security.”

The chart, for example, lists one person each in the age range 360-369 and 240-249.

That would make those beneficiaries older than the Civil War, older than the Revolutionary War, older than the Constitution, older than … the United States, which is coming up on its 250th next year.

Musk noted that, “This might be the biggest fraud in history.”

Yes, there are FAR more “eligible” social security numbers than there are citizens in the USA.

This might be the biggest fraud in history.

— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) February 17, 2025

Some 20 million are beyond the age 100, including about 2,700 who, purportedly, already have celebrated their 200th birthdays.

Social media commenters suggested the impossible age scenarios have come about because illegal aliens have been using the numbers of deceased Americans.

And a comment at the Gateway Pundit explained Musk unearthed a “jaw-dropping irregularity from the U.S. Social Security database.”

“The numbers are truly mind-boggling: over 25 million Americans registered aged 100 and older, with some purportedly older than the U.S. Constitution itself.”

That report pointed, out, “As of 2024, the U.S. Census Bureau estimates that approximately 101,000 Americans are aged 100 and older, representing about 0.03% of the total U.S. population. This group, known as centenarians, is projected to more than quadruple over the next three decades, reaching around 422,000 by 2054, according to the Pew Research Center.”

The report noted there are 136 Americans considered “supercentenarians,” who are 110 or more.

PALM BEACH, Florida – Legendary comedian Steve Martin is clowning about recent political controversies, as he delivered the opening monologue Sunday during a 50th anniversary special for “Saturday Night Live.”

“I’m Steve Martin, Saturday Night Live’s newest diversity hire,” the comic began.

“It was only a few days ago that [SNL boss] Lorne [Michaels] told me I was doing the monologue,” Martin continued. “I was actually vacationing on a friend’s boat down in the Gulf of Steve Martin.”

Gulf of Steve Martin? (X)

The comic also mocked SNL’s age while also calling the monologue “traditionally the weakest part of the show.”

“A fun fact,” Martin said. “A person born during the first season of Saturday Night Live could today be easily dead of natural causes.”

Martin was joined by fellow comedian Martin Short, who was introduced as “the only Canadian who wasn’t in Schitt’s Creek.”

Short’s time on stage was literally cut short as the Canadian actor was asked if he had his passport handy before ICE was called. He was then rushed off stage by two people sporting ICE uniforms.

Martin said about his colleague, “Marty and I have worked together for so long that we can actually finish each others … careers.”

Is the news we hear every day actually broadcasting messages from God? The answer is an absolute yes! Find out how!

Meanwhile, John Mulaney, a popular host and a former longtime writer on the show also joined Martin on stage.

“I believe that the heart and soul of this show is the celebrity hosts, many of whom are in this room tonight,” he said.

“As I look around, I see some of the most difficult people I have ever met in my entire life. Over the course of 50 years, 894 people have hosted Saturday Night Live, and it amazes me that only two of them have committed murder.”

Mulaney never specified to whom he was referring, but he likely was “alluding to the murder trial of O.J. Simpson, who hosted the show in 1978, and actor Robert Blake, who hosted the show in 1982 and was found liable for murdering his second wife in civil court in 2005,” according to NBC5 in Chicago.
