WATCH: CNN analyst admits Trump ‘strategy’ on border and DOGE is ‘not unconstitutional’

CNN legal analyst Elie Honig said Monday President Donald Trump’s efforts to address wasteful government spending and illegal immigration were “not unconstitutional.”

The Trump administration is appealing injunctions imposed by federal judges that targeted the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and Trump’s Jan. 20 executive order ending birthright citizenship. Honig said Trump’s plan was to “make plaintiffs” and force them to “sue” to stop his efforts.

“Look, the strategy that Donald Trump has used here so far is he’s going to do what he wants first, and then he’s going to make plaintiffs,” Honig told “CNN News Central” co-host John Berman. “He’s going to make state attorneys general. He’s going to make private citizens go sue him in court if they want to stop him from doing what he wants, they have to make him. So that’s definitely been a strategy by the president. But that’s not unconstitutional.”

WATCH:

“Where it crosses a line is if that happens, he goes into court and a court says, you’re not allowed to do this executive branch or I’m putting it on hold, I’m putting an injunction and then if the president or the executive Branch defies that, that’s where we get into real trouble here,” Honig continued. “So for sure, Donald Trump has taken a conscious legal strategy of, I’m going to do what I want, maybe I’ll lose in the courts. That’s fine. I mean, I think there’s problems in that, but that’s not unconstitutional.”

Honig additionally poured cold water on fears the Supreme Court would be a rubber stamp for Trump, even with six conservatives on the court.

“This Supreme Court has generally been taking a broad view of executive power. But I also think it’s a mistake to say, oh, there are six, three Supreme Court, they ruled in favor of Trump on immunity, they’re going to do whatever he said,” Honig said. “They have rejected Donald Trump at many key junctures. They rejected his election fraud claims. They rejected some of his efforts to stop prosecutors from taking steps against him. They rejected his efforts to resist a subpoena. So, I think this Supreme Court will not tolerate if the executive branch crosses that line of defying the courts.”

The Supreme Court struck down several executive actions taken by former President Joe Biden’s, most notably rejecting his effort to forgive student loans in a 6-3 ruling in June 2023. Despite the court’s ruling, Biden forgave student loan debt through his Department of Education on numerous occasions.

President Donald Trump on Monday morning took action to help purge the woke mindset from the U.S. Armed Forces.

“Our Service Academies have been infiltrated by Woke Leftist Ideologues over the last four years,” Trump posted on Truth Social.

“I have ordered the immediate dismissal of the Board of Visitors for the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard.

“We will have the strongest Military in History, and that begins by appointing new individuals to these Boards.

“We must make the Military Academies GREAT AGAIN!”

Is the news we hear every day actually broadcasting messages from God? The answer is an absolute yes! Find out how!

According to the U.S. Air Force, “The Board inquires into the morale, discipline, curriculum, instruction, physical equipment, fiscal affairs, academic methods and other matters relating to the Academy which the Board decides to consider.”

“The Board consists of six members appointed by the president, three appointed by the vice president, four appointed by the speaker of the House of Representatives, one designated by the Senate Armed Services Committee and one designated by the House Armed Services Committee.”

‘Super shady’: Elon Musk demands impeachment of ‘corrupt’ Obama-appointed judge for blocking DOGE access to key Treasury-payment system

Tech mogul and free speech advocate Elon Musk has called for the impeachment of an Obama-appointed federal judge after a controversial decision to block the newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) from accessing a crucial Treasury payment system.

The ruling, handed down by Judge Paul A. Engelmayer, effectively cripples the department’s ability to carry out its mandate to root out waste and streamline government spending.

Judge Engelmayer’s ruling, prompted by a lawsuit from 19 far-left state attorneys general led by New York Attorney General Letitia James, claims that DOGE’s access to Treasury systems poses risks of “disclosure of sensitive and confidential information” and increases the “risk that the systems in question will be more vulnerable than before to hacking.”

Moreover, Engelmeyer ordered the destruction of any downloaded information from the payment system by anyone given access to it since January 20, the date Trump was inaugurated.

A hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 14, 2025, to address the attorneys general’s request for a preliminary injunction in the case.

By restricting DOGE’s access, Judge Engelmayer is effectively shielding the opaque and often inefficient operations of federal agencies from much-needed scrutiny.

DOGE’s mandate is to identify and eliminate wasteful spending, ensuring taxpayer dollars are used effectively.

Blocking access to payment systems impedes this mission and protects those who benefit from government inefficiency.

Elon Musk exploded after hearing the so-called judge’s decision.

“This ruling is absolutely insane!” he wrote. “How on Earth are we supposed to stop fraud and waste of taxpayer money without looking at how money is spent?”

“That’s literally impossible!” Musk added. “Something super shady is going to protect scammers.”

In a separate post, Musk called for the impeachment of Engelmayer, who is a corrupt partisan operative whose decision serves entrenched bureaucratic interests rather than the American taxpayer.

“A corrupt judge protecting corruption,” Musk wrote. “He needs to be impeached NOW!” he added.

(ESPN) — Defense, the old coaches used to tell us, wins championships.

And while the scoring-happy modern NFL sometimes makes that old saw sound silly, the Super Bowl LIX champion Philadelphia Eagles would like a word.

Sunday night in a city that’s hosted as many Super Bowls as any other, the Kansas City Chiefs’ quest for Super Bowl history never even got off the ground. Philadelphia’s swarming defense held Patrick Mahomes and the two-time defending champions to just 23 yards in the first half, led 24-0 at halftime and rolled to a 40-22 victory that kept the Chiefs from becoming the first team to win three straight Super Bowl titles and instead delivered the second in Eagles history.

Make no cents! Trump orders end to production of new pennies

It could be called “cents insensibility.”

President Donald Trump said Sunday night he’s taking action to end production of pennies in America.

“For far too long the United States has minted pennies which literally cost us more than 2 cents,” Trump posted on Truth Social.

“This is so wasteful! I have instructed my Secretary of the US Treasury to stop producing new pennies.

“Let’s rip the waste out of our great nations budget, even if it’s a penny at a time.”

According to the U.S. Mint, the cost of producing a single penny was nearly 3.7 cents in Fiscal Year 2024, and the coin has cost above face value for 19 consecutive years.

Before 1962, pennies were composed of copper, and are now made mostly of zinc, with some copper plating.

The Treasury Department says President Abraham Lincoln has been featured on the penny since 1909, and the penny was the first coin ever made by the U.S. Mint.
