White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt: ‘America not a dumping ground for world’s illegal criminals’

The first illegal criminals arrived at Guantánamo Bay on Tuesday via a military plane. President Trump signed an executive order directing the secretaries of the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security to prepare the facility to be able to hold as many as 30,000 illegal criminals. This first flight was carrying 10 illegal criminals.

“These 10 high-threat individuals are currently being housed in vacant detention facilities,” the Defense Department said in a Wednesday statement, according to ABC News.

This particular course of action is being called a “temporary measure.”

The statement also noted that, “U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is taking this measure to ensure the safe and secure detention of these individuals until they can be transported to their country of origin or other appropriate destination.”

“Well, they have seen that President Trump is not messing around, and he’s no longer going to allow America to be a dumping ground for illegal criminals from nations all over this world…” said White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt according to Fox News.

The Iranian regime is at its most vulnerable point in decades. Faced with mounting internal dissent after four major nationwide uprisings in the past seven years, growing international isolation, severe blows to their regional strategy, and tightening economic and diplomatic pressure by the international community, the mullahs in Tehran are racing against time. Their desperate push to accelerate their nuclear weapons project is not a show of strength but a sign of profound weakness. Now, Iran’s nuclear ambitions are once again at the forefront of global security concern.

For years, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) has warned that Iran’s nuclear program is not meant for peaceful purposes. Tehran has systematically deceived the world while working toward nuclear weapons capability. The West is gradually recognizing this reality.

On Feb. 4, President Trump signed a new memorandum reinstating the ‘Maximum Pressure’ policy.

This move will further restrict Iran’s access to financial markets, intensify sanctions on individuals and entities tied to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and prevent the regime from acquiring the resources needed to advance its nuclear and ballistic missile programs.

According to news reports, Trump’s order, among other things, orders the U.S. treasury secretary to impose “maximum economic pressure” on Iran, including sanctions and enforcement mechanisms on those violating existing sanctions!

The Iranian people, who have long suffered under the brutal dictatorship, have shown unwavering resilience. Over the past four decades, 120,000 political activists, the overwhelming majority of them affiliated with the main Iranian resistance movement, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), have been executed. Inside Iran, protests have erupted in nearly every major city. From factory workers to teachers, students to retirees, all have taken to the streets demanding change. The regime’s response has been predictably violent – mass arrests, torture and executions. But this has not deterred the Iranian people; it has only made them more determined.

Iran’s accelerated nuclear ambitions: A sign of desperation

A recent U.S. intelligence assessment confirmed what the NCRI has been exposing for years: Iran is fast-tracking its development of a nuclear weapon. Tehran knows that it may not have the luxury of time. With growing internal unrest and external pressures mounting, the regime is desperate for leverage. By rapidly assembling a nuclear capability, it hopes to blackmail the international community into easing sanctions and granting concessions.

For too long, world leaders have played into this strategy. Iran’s leadership understands that nuclear brinkmanship creates panic in diplomatic circles. It uses the threat of weapons development to extract favorable deals from Western negotiators. But history has proven that such negotiations only embolden the regime. The 2015 nuclear deal (JCPOA) failed to curb Iran’s nuclear ambitions; it merely gave the regime financial resources to suppress the Iranian people and to fund further instability across the region.

The Free Iran Rally: A global call to action

As the world is grappling to define a correct policy on Iran, thousands of Iranians and supporters of democracy will gather in Paris Feb. 8 for the Free Iran Rally. The event, organized by the NCRI, is not just another protest – it is a powerful declaration that the Iranian people reject the dictatorships of both the shah and the mullahs and demand democratic change. They support the 10-point plan of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the NCRI, for a free, democratic republic, which calls for separation of government and religion, gender equality, coexistence with the rest of the world and a non-nuclear Iran.

Among those attending will be former political prisoners, activists and international political leaders who recognize that the time for decisive action is now. This rally will shine a spotlight on the Iranian people’s struggle and serve as a counterweight to the regime’s propaganda. It will remind world leaders that appeasement is not an option – only a free, democratic Iran can bring stability to the region.

The rally will also focus on exposing Iran’s human-rights abuses. Over the past year alone, Tehran has dramatically increased its executions, many of them targeting political dissidents. The victims of this repression are not criminals; they are teachers, students and journalists who have dared to speak out. The Free Iran Rally will amplify their voices to the world.

Why this matters now

The world faces a critical decision: Will it continue to ignore Iran’s nuclear ambitions and human-rights violations, or will it stand with the Iranian people in their quest for freedom? The NCRI has long argued that the only sustainable solution is regime change from within by the Iranian people and the organized resistance. The Iranian people have proven they are ready for this change, but the international community has a duty to stand on their side.

The Free Iran Rally will make clear that the Iranian people, not the mullahs, should determine their nation’s future. The international community must take concrete action and stand on the side of Iran’s democratic opposition and prevent the regime from acquiring nuclear capability. It is time to act decisively.

The Iranian regime is on borrowed time. Internal unrest is growing, its economy is in shambles, and its nuclear ambitions are being exposed. The NCRI and the Free Iran movement are leading the charge.

The days of appeasement must end. The Iranian people are ready for change. It is time for the international community to stand with them.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the front man for Joe Biden’s handling of the COVID-19 crisis, in which the China virus likely escaped from a lab working on dangerous diseases and killed millions worldwide, was handed a pardon from federal charges for his actions by Joe Biden.

But he still theoretically could face state charges, and now a coalition of attorneys general is asking Congress whether members can share evidence of those violations.

Fauci used to lead the National institute of for Allergy and Infectious Disease, and was paid an extraordinarily high salary for a government worker. He’s now retired and his pension is in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

He recently was involved in a scandal for the tens of millions of dollars taxpayers paid for his “security” even after he was a private citizen and not on the government payroll.

A report from the Washington Examiner said 17 state attorneys general now have asked Republican congressional leaders for information on the COVID-19 origins, and more.

“As state attorneys general, we possess the authority to address violations of state law or breaches of public trust,” they told Congress. “We are fully committed to investigating any malfeasance that may have occurred to the fullest extent of our authority and are prepared to collaborate with you in further efforts.”

Alan Wilson, South Carolina’s attorney general, organized the letter to House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune.

They want “information that could outline potential courses of action under state law, should they exist.”

What’s known, from a Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic report from Congress, is Fauci “prompted leading scientists to discredit the possibility that the virus originated as a result of an accident at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China,” the report said. That’s commonly considered the explanation for the virus now.

There also were allegations that Fauci “misled Congress regarding federal funding of potentially hazardous virtual research at the WIV.”

Biden’s protective order for Fauci applied a pardon to “any offenses which he may have committed or taken part in” beginning in January 2014.

“To say we are troubled by the scope and timing of the pardon – on the heels of the Subcommittee’s Final Report–would be a gross understatement,” the letter from the states explained. “To ensure that former President Biden’s shameful pardon does not frustrate accountability, we urge Congress to consider using all available tools at its disposal.”

U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., already has committed to using his work in the Seante to hold Fauci account for any involvement in offenses. Fauci, at one point in the COVID pandemic when he insisted that others accept his version of events, called himself the “science” on the topics at hand.

As the 2022 Iranian uprising reached a critical turning point, with brave women and young people seemingly poised to consign the religious dictatorship to history, Reza Pahlavi, the son of Iran’s last Shah, ramped up his travels across Europe – particularly in France – seeking to position himself as a political alternative. In doing so, he courted support from certain Western conservative circles, aiming to secure media visibility.

At the height of the uprising, while Iranians risked their lives for freedom, Pahlavi sought to insert himself into the narrative as a viable replacement for the regime. Yet, for those who had sacrificed everything in the fight against tyranny, a fundamental question arose: Was their struggle meant to culminate in the return of a figure with no history of resistance and no concrete vision for Iran’s future?

In a recent interview, Pahlavi himself admitted he was unwilling to sacrifice his friends or his personal freedom in the U.S. for Iran. This statement only deepened skepticism about his commitment.

A political analyst close to the current theocratic Iranian regime wrote in his widely circulated doctoral thesis: “Monarchism is an opportunity for the Islamic Republic. Monarchists have no realistic path to power, and by fostering division within the opposition, they have provided an invaluable service to the regime.”

A monarchic system in irreversible decline

Iran’s monarchy, one of the world’s oldest political systems, lost its legitimacy by the late Qajar era due to corruption, inefficiency and authoritarian rule. The 1906 Constitutional Revolution, inspired by the French Revolution, marked a shift toward a system based on popular participation.

Ultimately, the Pahlavi dynasty was overthrown in 1979 after decades of repression and economic mismanagement. The last Shah’s exile and death – like those of his Qajar predecessors – symbolized Iran monarchy’s irreversible historical collapse.

Ever since, for over four and half decades, Iranians have sought a democratic alternative, one rooted in justice and human rights. The slogans of the 2022 uprising – such as “Death to the Tyrant, Be It the Shah or the Mullah” – clearly illustrate the public’s rejection of both the current theocracy and a return to monarchy.

A virtual movement without popular support

The influence of monarchists remains largely confined to social media and exile circles. They exploit the crises inflicted by the current Islamic Republic – poverty, repression and executions – to position themselves as an alternative. However, they ignore a fundamental truth: The Islamic Republic rose to power in 1979 largely due to the Pahlavi regime’s systematic suppression of democratic forces.

As a former regime official recently admitted, “The infernal machine of SAVAK under the Shah paved the way for the Islamic Republic.”

Even in exile, monarchists have failed to establish credibility as a political force. The collapse of the “Reza Pahlavi is my representative” campaign, which sought to position Pahlavi as the undisputed leader of the opposition, demonstrated the widespread rejection of his leadership within the Iranian diaspora.

Moreover, analysts point out that “Even Western nations opposed to the Islamic Republic have recognized this reality and place greater hope in the ‘hypocrites’ (a derogatory term used by the theocratic regime for its arch-enemies, the People’s Mojahedin Organization) than in the monarchists to bring about its downfall.”

The Iranian regime’s role in promoting monarchists

A particularly striking phenomenon is the disproportionate online presence of monarchists. Given that some former Iranian intelligence officials are closely linked to Reza Pahlavi, legitimate questions arise: Are their financial and technical resources partially supplied from within Iran?

Additionally, the monarchists benefit from the vast fortune the Pahlavi family transferred abroad before their exile. However, rather than presenting a clear vision for Iran’s future, they focus primarily on undermining other opposition groups.

Peace in the region, security in the world

For more than four and half decades, the Iranian regime has destabilized the entire Middle East through hostage-taking, terrorism and regional wars, including the ongoing Gaza crisis. This strategy has cost hundreds of thousands of lives and exacerbated global instability.

Now, as the Iranian regime faces its weakest moment – following the decline of its regional proxies and the fall of Bashar al-Assad in Syria – it seeks to compensate for its vulnerabilities by pursuing nuclear weapons. The international community must take this threat seriously and recognize the Iranian people’s right to resist.

Feb. 8: The voice of the Iranian people in Paris

On Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, tens of thousands of Iranians will gather in Paris to demand that the international community recognize their right to resistance and support the establishment of a democratic and secular republic in Iran. Their vision: Just as the right of the French people to resist the Nazis was upheld, it is now time for the world to stand with Iranians in their fight for freedom.

They suggest that supporting the Iranian Resistance and its resistance units is the only path to ending dictatorship, securing peace in the region and ensuring global stability.
