Some benefit changes are coming to the popular cash back credit card.
Fidelity recently notified existing cardholders that it will swap two existing benefits for two new perks.
Let’s take a quick look to see whether it changes your view of using the card going forward.
Fidelity Reveals 2 New Travel-Related Cardholder Benefits
We’ll start with the good news. Cardholders will receive a new car rental benefit to complement the existing auto rental damage waiver coverage. They will also receive new emergency medical and dental coverage on travel that is booked with the card.
Here are the details:
National Car Rental Emerald Club Executive® Level Membership
“Receive one year of complimentary Emerald Club Executive® level membership when you enroll by December 31, 2026. Enjoy faster services, special offers and upgrades, and savings of up to 25% when you rent with National® Car Rental.”
Emergency Medical and Dental Coverage
“When you use your card to book travel, you can be reimbursed up to $2,500 for emergency medical or dental expenses incurred due to a sickness or accidental injury suffered while on a covered trip.”
Fidelity Removes 2 Consumer Protection Benefits
The announced changes are not all good news. Effective January 1, 2027, the card will be removing Purchase Security and Lost Luggage Reimbursement from the menu of benefits.
A quick reminder of what will be going away at the end of the year:
Purchase Security
“Purchase Security protects new retail purchases made with Your eligible Account and/or rewards programs associated with Your covered Account within the first ninety (90) days from the date of purchase. To be eligible for this coverage, You need to purchase either a portion or the entire cost of the item using Your Account and/or rewards program associated with Your covered Account. “At the Benefit Administrator’s discretion, this benefit replaces, repairs, or reimburses You, up to the total purchase price of Your item for a maximum of five hundred dollars ($500.00) per claim and fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00), per cardholder, in the event of theft, damage due to fire, vandalism, or accidentally discharged water or certain weather conditions.”
Lost Luggage Reimbursement
“Your checked or carry-on luggage is covered up to $3,000 if lost or stolen when you charge your common carrier ticket to your eligible Visa Signature card.”
Bottom Line
Fidelity is making some changes to the fringes of its benefits package that will primarily impact cardholders who use it for travel.
The no-annual-fee card’s most popular travel benefits include:
Up to $100 in Reward Points once every 4 years toward Global Entry® or TSA PreCheck®
No foreign transaction fees
Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver (provides reimbursement for damages caused by theft or collision, up to $75,000)
These remain unchanged and are key perks alongside the unlimited 2% cash back you can earn when you automatically deposit your rewards into an approved Fidelity investment account.
