Republicans Open New Front In Growing Battle Against “Climate Lawfare”
Republicans Open New Front In Growing Battle Against “Climate Lawfare”
Republicans in Congress are taking action to shield U.S. energy producers from “Climate lawfare,” the relentless barrage of frivolous lawsuits orchestrated by radical environmental activists.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) introduced S.4340, a bill that would bar frivolous lawsuits from green activist groups seeking damages, injunctions, or other relief for harms allegedly caused by the end use of energy products. Senators Ted Budd (R- NC), Tom Cotton (R-AR), and Mike Lee (R-UT) are cosponsoring the legislation. The House companion bill, H.R. 8330, was introduced yesterday by Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-WY). The bill would also void any energy penalty law and preempts any states’ attempts to regulate interstate and global emissions.

— Senator Ted Cruz (@SenTedCruz) April 20, 2026
“Radical environmental groups have waged a coordinated campaign to weaponize our judicial system against American energy producers, including many in Texas,” Cruz said in a statement. “They’re using meritless lawsuits to bankrupt our energy industry, kill good paying jobs, and drive up the cost of electricity and gasoline for hardworking families. I am proud to lead this bill to stop that abuse to protect American jobs, lower energy costs, and defend American energy dominance.”
“Energy security is national security, and we will not self-sabotage our critical industries with a cascade of costly lawsuits and extreme penalties that jeopardize American drilling. America’s energy producers should be protected from the dangerous legal precedent that would be set by the retroactive punishment of lawful activity,” Hageman said.
The bill has already won applause by energy groups aligned with President Donald Trump’s pro-growth agenda.
“Green left activists have always gone to extraordinary lengths to impose their anti-energy agenda on Americans. Filing sweeping lawsuits against oil and gas companies in an attempt to force policy outcomes they have failed to achieve in the legislative and administrative arenas is some of their most egregious work yet,” American Energy Alliance president Tom Pyle said. “This kind of politically motivated litigation threatens not only energy stability, security, and affordability but also the integrity of our legal system.”
The legislation arrives as California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Vermont have taken landmark legal action aimed at holding fossil fuel companies accountable for misrepresenting to the public about their products’ role in climate change.
On Friday, the Supreme Court delivered a unanimous procedural victory for sanity, ruling that certain environmental damage lawsuits, including one against Chevron for alleged destruction of coastal wetlands in Louisiana, can be removed from hostile state courts to more neutral federal forums.
“Chevron’s case fits comfortably within the ordinary meaning of a suit ‘relating to’ the performance of federal duties,” said Justice Clarence Thomas. “Chevron has plausibly alleged a close relationship between its challenged conduct and the performance of its federal duties —not a tenuous, remote, or peripheral one.”

Sidney Crosby reacts to the first embellishment penalty of his 21-year career
The Philadelphia Flyers took a pretty handy 5-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins in Wednesday night’s Game 3 to take a commanding 3-0 series lead, but there was plenty to talk about, including the first embellishment penalty of Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby’s career….No, you read that correctly.Coming into the game, Crosby had played 21 NHL seasons and had never gotten the game for embellishment, until a bizarre sequence between whistles.Flyers forward (and top-tier agitator, it must be said) Garnet Hathaway skated between Crosby and the linesman ahead of a faceoff in the Flyers’ defensive zone and was, let’s just say, “Careless” with his lumber. There was no doubt it caught the Pens’ captain in the face, but there was also no doubt that it wasn’t hard enough to send Crosby sprawling to the ice as a sniper had fired from the rafters. Both were sent to the box, and the game continued at 4-on-4.After the game, Crosby offered his reaction to that incident and to another scrum involving teammate Bryan Rust a bit later that resulted in a Flyers power play and a power play goal.PANTHERS’ MATTHEW TKACHUK’S TALKS GAME 3 CHAOS: ‘IF YOU HAVE TO TAKE A PUNCH IN THE FACE, TAKE IT'”I don’t know how Rusty ends up with the extra [penalty] out of all of that, I don’t know how I end up with the embellishment,” he said. “It’s hard to understand, but you gotta play through that.”I mean… you did sell it a bit, Sid.Now on the Rust situation? The Flyers did luck out.THE NHL NEEDS TO GIVE US A FLYERS-PENGUINS GAME AT BEAVER STADIUM ASAPBut back to the most talked about dive since the days of Greg Louganis. During the broadcast, it was revealed that this was Crosby’s first-ever penalty for embellishment. Fortunatley, I wasn’t drinking anything when I heard this because I would’ve choked on it.For 21 of my 30 years on this glorious space marble we call Earth, I’ve been tormented by Sidney Crosby, and a big part of that was his penchant for diving and whining. Now, he has kind of grown out of that, but it was such a known thing that fFormer Flyers goalie Brian Boucher alluded to his old habits during TNT’s broadcast of Game 3.Hell, I remember reading in former NHL referee Kerry Fraser’s book about this habit.ZERO BS. JUST DAKICH. TAKE THE DON’T @ ME PODCAST ON THE ROAD. DOWNLOAD NOW!And still, this was the first time?!Unbelievable. While the Penguins were not happy about the officiating — and I do think they had a pretty legitimate case on that Rust incident — they can’t be hung up on these things down 3-0.The Flyers have been the more solid team all series long, and that’s why they have their cross-state rivals on the ropes going into Saturday night’s Game 4 in Philadelphia.

Colorado DA pursues assault charge against federal immigration officer, DHS condemns ‘political stunt’
A Colorado district attorney charged a federal immigration officer with third-degree assault and criminal mischief on Tuesday in a move the Department of Homeland Security called “unlawful” and a “political stunt.”Eric P. Murray, the district attorney for Colorado’s 6th District, announced Tuesday he’s charging U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer Nicholas Rice with the two counts for an incident that occurred during an immigration enforcement activity in Durango, Colo., between Oct. 27–28.Anne Francesca Stagi told investigators that Rice knocked her phone out of her hand while she was protesting outside a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Durango, according to The Associated Press.Video of the incident shows Stagi holding her phone in front of a masked immigration agent’s face before the agent grabs it.DOJ SILENT ON WHETHER NYC POLITICIAN WHO ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTED ICE OFFICER WILL FACE CHARGESStagi then appears to grab the officer’s shoulder as he walks away at which point he grabs her and, along with other federal agents, brings her to the ground, the video shows.Stagi claimed that the officer put her in a chokehold and that she still feels pain when she puts on a jacket. The prosecution comes after the Colorado Bureau of Investigations (CBI) opened a probe into the incident at the behest of Durango Police Department Chief Brice Current, according to the AP.DHS claimed that the prosecution was a political stunt and that states have no authority to investigate cases of this nature. “Federal officers acting in the course of their duties can only be investigated by other Federal agencies,” DHS told the AP in a statement.ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT SUSPECTED OF GANG TIES ARRESTED AFTER ALLEGEDLY RAMMING ICE OFFICERThe agency is still investigating the case, per the AP.Fox News Digital contacted DHS, CBP, Colorado’s 6th district, CBI and the Durango Police Department for comment but did not immediately receive a response. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
Germany Unveils Strategy for Turning the Bundeswehr Into Europe’s Strongest Military

Germany is up in arms.
Yesterday (22), Germany revealed for the first time the new strategic documents for the most comprehensive revamp of the Bundeswehr in decades.
Germany wants the Bundeswehr to be Europe’s strongest military – Wiki Commons
The documents include a ‘standalone military strategy’, a ‘new capability profile’, a plan for growing troop numbers, and a new reserve strategy.
This overhaul was first announced by Defense Minister Boris Pistorius in November, calling it ‘a historic turning point’.

Defense News reported:
“Defense leaders presented the finished documents to lawmakers this week, offering unclassified outlines for public consumption at an April 22 press conference in Berlin.
‘Rarely has a military strategy been as necessary as in this historical phase’, he told reporters. The documents, which the ministry describes as classified ‘living documents’ subject to ongoing revision, will serve as the strategic foundation for the Bundeswehr for the next 20 years.”

“Titled ‘Responsibility for Europe’, the military strategy identifies Russia as the primary threat and sets out scenarios for potential attacks on NATO territory. Pistorius declined to detail the classified threat assessments, quipping that releasing them would be tantamount to ‘adding Vladimir Putin to our email distribution list’. The strategy also marks a doctrinal shift toward a ‘one theater approach’, treating NATO territory, the Middle East and the Indo-Pacific as interconnected security spaces rather than discrete theaters.
The accompanying capability profile moves away from rigid hardware quotas − the number of tanks, aircraft or ships − toward a flexible, effects-based planning model. The question is not how many battalions the German army needs, but what effects it must be able to produce, said the defense minister. He cited deep precision strike, air defense against hypersonic missiles, and drone capabilities as priority areas, stressing that Germany was essentially starting from scratch on long-range strike.”

‘Absolutely insane story’: Trump deploys jet to Cuba to rescue child allegedly kidnapped by trans father
The Castle by the Sea in Havana, Cuba
The Trump administration has facilitated the rescue of a child allegedly kidnapped by a transgender parent by dispatching a jet to Cuba to pick up the 10-year-old, who already had been located there by Cuba authorities helping in the operation.
The U.S. attorney’s office in Utah confirmed that there also are two suspects in custody as a result of the operation, including the young boy’s father, who identifies as a woman, and has been thought to be grooming the boy for transgenderism.
“Rose Inessa-Ethington aka Eri Ethington, 42, and Blue Inessa-Ethington, aka Carly Ann Crosby, 32, both of Cache County, Utah, were deported from Cuba on Monday with the assistance of the FBI. Upon landing in the United States, the two defendants appeared in court for an arraignment in Richmond, Virginia, and will be transported to the District of Utah at a later date for the remainder of their court case at the Orrin G. Hatch United States District Courthouse in downtown Salt Lake City,” federal authorities said.
The family feared the father, Eri Ethington, was taking his son to Cuba for “gender reassignment surgery,” authorities said.
The suspects are accused of allegedly skipping out on a planned camping trip to Canada with a shared custody child and instead taking the 10-year-old to Havana, Cuba, without the biological mother’s knowledge or court approval.
On March 28, the child was supposed to be traveling by car to Calgary in Alberta, Canada, for a “planned camping trip with the minor victim’s biological father Rose Inessa-Ethington, Rose’s partner Blue and Blue’s 3-year-old child, prosecutors said.
They never arrived at the hotel where they were expected to be in Calgary.
They disappeared after the 10-year-old told his biological mother via telephone they arrived in Canada.
At the time the mother shared custody with her former spouse. On April 3, the boy was scheduled to rejoin his biological mother, but never arrived.
Court complaints outline how the group went to Canada, then immediately took a flight to Mexico City and then boarded another jet to Havana.
“Mexican immigration authorities confirmed their arrival and departures utilizing their U.S. passports,” the government said.

The FBI just rescued a 10-year-old child who was KIDNAPPED and taken to Cuba by a TRANSGENDER parent to undergo m*tilation surgery.

“As alleged in court documents, interviews with the 10-year-old’s family provided significant concerns for the minor’s well-being, as the child was born male, however, identified as a female child, which family members largely believed to be due to manipulation by Rose. Concerns existed that the child was transported to Cuba for gender reassignment surgery prior to puberty,” the U.S. attorney’s office noted.
A state court in Utah responded with an order returning the boy to his mother and giving her exclusive custody, but he was not returned. On April 16, law enforcement in Cuba located the group.
Melissa Holyoak, first assistant U.S. attorney for the district, said, “We are grateful to law enforcement for working swiftly to return the child to the biological mother.”
The case is being investigated by the FBI Salt Lake City Field Office. The U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Services and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Enforcement and Removal Operations in Havana played a key role in recovering the minor victim safely, along with the FBI’s Mexico City Law Enforcement Attache Office.
A report from the Gateway Pundit commented the Trump administration took the “extraordinary step” of sending government Boeing 757 directly to Cuba to bring the boy home safely.
“He has now been reunited with his biological mother,” the report said.
