More Than 450 TSA Agents Have Quit During DHS Shutdown

More than 450 Transportation Security Administration agents have quit since the start of the partial Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shutdown.

The partial shutdown has been ongoing since March 15, when funding for the agency lapsed without additional funding in place.
Lauren Bis, acting assistant secretary for Public Affairs at DHS, told the Epoch Times in an emailed statement that as of day 38 of the partial shutdown, American travelers are facing hours-long waits at airports across the country.
“More than 450 TSA officers quit and thousands have called out sick from work because they are not able to afford gas, childcare, food, or rent,” Bis said.
“President [Donald] Trump is taking action to deploy hundreds of ICE officers, who are currently funded by Congress, to airports being adversely impacted. This will help bolster TSA efforts to keep our skies safe and minimize air travel disruptions.”
The department stated that callout rates for TSA agents remained elevated, reaching almost 11 percent on March 23, representing 3,200 officers absent from duty. The recorded high callout rate for the shutdown was nearly 12 percent the day before.
Major airports saw higher than average absences among agents, including 33.7 percent at John F. Kennedy International Airport, 30.4 percent at Baltimore/Washington International Airport, and 27.5 percent at Pittsburgh International Airport
LaGuardia Airport’s callout rate was 20.3 percent, 37.4 percent at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, 34.9 percent at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, and 40.3 percent at William P. Hobby Airport in Houston.
Federal immigration agents were deployed to 14 U.S. airports starting on March 23.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents went to the international airport in Atlanta, airports in New York City, and a dozen others to help TSA personnel as long lines formed due to a lack of agents.
As part of the deployment, ICE agents have been sent to Chicago-O’Hare International Airport, Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Houston’s William P. Hobby Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport (New York), LaGuardia Airport (New York), Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, Luis Munoz Marin International Airport (San Juan, Puerto Rico), Newark Liberty International Airport, Philadelphia International Airport, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Pittsburgh International Airport, Southwest Florida International Airport (Fort Myers, Florida), and Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
Senate Republicans are working on a plan to fully fund DHS, but that would exclude ICE enforcement and removal activities. The lawmakers say they would then look to fund the remainder of ICE through the reconciliation budget, which could be accomplished through a simple majority, rather than the 60 votes needed for the current funding plan.
Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) is cautiously optimistic but said the proposal needs to be in writing.
“I think the deal is possible, but we’re down to that point where, like lots of people are talking, but you’ve got to reduce it to writing, and you’ve got to actually trade paper,” he told reporters.
Coons said he won’t support a bill that doesn’t include reforms to ICE’s detention and deportation operations.
“Conversations are ongoing, but this deal seems to be acceptable,” a White House official told The Epoch Times on March 24.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) said, “All I can say is that the discussions have been very positive and productive, and hopefully headed in the right direction.”
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) offered a similar sentiment, telling reporters, “Both sides are working in a serious way.”

US troops brace for ‘hit-and-run’ guerilla attacks as 82nd Airborne deploys to Iran, military analyst warns
Iran could significantly increase U.S. casualties if its elite military and proxy forces shift to guerrilla-style hit-and-run attacks in the region, a leading military analyst has warned.Michael Eisenstadt of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy spoke as the Pentagon moved elements of the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division into the Middle East amid a new escalation in the conflict, according to reports.”Iran has large infantry units in its military that are equivalent to the brigade combat team of the 82nd Airborne,” Eisenstadt, a former U.S. Army Reserve officer, told Fox News Digital.”The 82nd Force is too small to cause significant harm to Iran, but it is large enough to be vulnerable to Iranian strikes, and this would enable Iran to significantly increase U.S. casualties,” he said.HEGSETH WARNS ‘MORE CASUALTIES’ EXPECTED IN OPERATION EPIC FURY AGAINST IRANEisenstadt, who has worked as a U.S. government military analyst, claimed that, even if major conventional operations begin to wind down in the Middle East region, the danger may only evolve rather than disappear.”We could see an end to major combat operations, with activity shifting to guerrilla-style hit-and-run attacks in the Gulf and other gray-zone activities by Iran,” he said.”Think of the aftermath of the 1991 Gulf War with Iraq, in which we had to contain the Iraqis for a decade after a very successful war.”US COULD TAKE IRAN’S MAIN OIL EXPORT HUB ‘AT A TIME OF OUR CHOOSING,’ JACK KEANE SAYSFox News chief national security correspondent Jennifer Griffin reported Wednesday that the U.S. has ordered the deployment of an additional 82nd Airborne forces to the region. The contingent is expected to include Maj. Gen. Brandon R. Tegtmeier, the division commander, elements of his headquarters staff, and infantry battalions from the division’s Immediate Response Force. Officials also indicated that the total number of troops ultimately sent could still change.Eisenstadt said this new deployment is intended to increase pressure on Tehran as the U.S. pushes for new ceasefire terms, set in place by President Donald Trump.WINNING THE BATTLES, LOSING THE WAR? AMERICA MUST DEFINE THE ENDGAME IN IRAN”This deployment is intended to create leverage over Iran and pressure it to accept U.S. terms for a ceasefire agreement. It would also create military options if Iran rejects those terms,” he said.In that scenario, he said, the 82nd could potentially operate alongside Marine expeditionary units in operations to seize and hold terrain, including Kharg Island, located roughly 20 miles off Iran’s Gulf coast.U.S. forces struck military targets there March 13, destroying more than 90 Iranian military sites while deliberately sparing key oil infrastructure, according to multiple reports.IRAN’S REMAINING WEAPONS: HOW TEHRAN CAN STILL DISRUPT THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ”The brigade combat team of the 82nd could work with the 11th and 31st MEUs, or independently, to seize and hold terrain — such as Kharg Island,” Eisenstadt said.”This would provide leverage over Iran by denying it the ability to export oil and helping end the war on terms favorable to the U.S.””There are risks involved though, because Iranian units on the mainland could bombard Kharg Island and inflict casualties on U.S. troops there also,” Eisenstadt said.JACK KEANE WARNS CEASEFIRE WITH IRAN WOULD ‘PLAY RIGHT INTO THEIR HANDS’ AS TRUMP SIGNALS DEAL PROGRESSThe latest military buildup comes as the conflict that began with Operation Epic Fury on Feb. 28, has also centered on the Strait of Hormuz, with Iran restricting access.”The 82nd deployment is intended to increase psychological pressure on Iran and support efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz so it can once again be used by all countries,” Eisenstadt explained. The 82nd Airborne is one of the U.S. military’s premier rapid-response units, trained to parachute into hostile or contested territory to secure key ground and airfields.Portions of the division have also spent recent days at the Joint Readiness Training Center, sharpening infiltration, surveillance, combat and resupply skills, Axios reported.”Iranian military officials have welcomed news of the dispatch of these units to the Gulf because it potentially creates options for them to impose costs on the U.S.,” Eisenstadt said.

MUST WATCH: James O’Keefe Blasts Pam Bondi’s DOJ for ZERO Arrests After Exposing California Voter Fraud: ‘I’m Pissed Off… I’m Not Going to Put My Life in Harm’s Way for NOTHING’
Screenshot: The Benny Johnson Show
Legendary investigative journalist James O’Keefe absolutely torched Attorney General Pam Bondi’s Department of Justice for failing to make a single arrest after his O’Keefe Media Group (OMG) team risked their lives exposing a massive California cash-for-ballots voter fraud scheme on Skid Row.
O’Keefe laid it all out: organized crime, out-of-state operators raking in suitcases of cash, possible gang involvement, and forged signatures from homeless people paid pennies to steal elections.
But with Republicans in full control of Congress and the DOJ, NOT A SINGLE ARREST has been made.
The Gateway Pundit has been leading the charge on this story from day one:

James O’Keefe and OMG Team Violently Assaulted on Skid Row While Exposing Voter Fraud
BREAKING: California Election Fraud Crimes Caught on Camera: Homeless People Paid by Petitioners to Forge Real Voters’ Signatures
During the interview, Johnson pressed O’Keefe on who might be funding and orchestrating the fraud network.
O’Keefe confirmed that his team is actively tracking a coordinated system involving petitioners, coordinators, and potentially out-of-state actors.
O’Keefe emphasized that his team is continuing to investigate and expose the higher-level operatives behind the scheme.
But the core issue, according to O’Keefe, is not exposure; it’s enforcement.
O’Keefe reserved some of his sharpest criticism for Attorney General Pam Bondi, accusing her Department of Justice of inaction despite clear evidence of voter fraud.
Watch the MUST-WATCH clip from Benny Johnson’s show below. O’Keefe lays it all out:
James O’Keefe:“But I think the question we have to ask ourselves is: without accountability, what does it matter? What does it matter if no one is held accountable? Does bringing it to light even matter?
I guess the question for your audience—a rhetorical question—is: Do you want me to continue doing this?
Do you want me to continue exposing it? Does it even matter? I mean, that’s a rhetorical question. I’m not going to answer that because I can stop. I can give up. I can retire.
But I’m not going to put my life in harm’s way—and my people’s lives—because they were almost killed, for nothing. It’s not worth it. I think you would agree with that.
So I can go away. I can go on sabbatical until someone is arrested. But I’m not going to put my people’s lives in danger every week for nothing to happen. That’s honest. I’m just being vulnerable and transparent with the world.
I’m not going to get killed. I saw what happened to Charlie Kirk. I don’t want to die. I need to stay on this Earth to keep exposing the truth.
So I can go on vacation. I can go away. And when y’all are going to arrest somebody, I’ll come back. Because I’ll tell you what—getting punched in the neck and having nobody get arrested, it’s not right. It’s immoral, is what it is. And the Republicans are in power.
The Attorney General of the United States has the jurisdiction to arrest someone tomorrow. I haven’t seen any statements on the internet, or on Fox News, or anywhere else about this.
And frankly, I get that there are egos involved, but I think it’s a form of cowardice. I’m glad the president is talking about it—I think he should continue to talk about it.
And I will continue to keep releasing videos this week, but I’m pissed off. I’m pissed off because my friend and my closest colleague was violently assaulted, and we came an inch from losing our lives. Knives and guns—there.
And I need something to happen. I really need something to happen. Otherwise, I’m going to have to stop doing what I’m doing.
And I don’t know what else to say.”
WATCH:
The message from O’Keefe is loud and clear: If the Republican-led DOJ won’t hold these fraudsters accountable, why should patriots like him keep bleeding for it?
California is ground zero for the left’s voter fraud empire, and this Skid Row scandal proves it’s not “isolated incidents,” it’s systematic, paid, and protected. With Republicans in full control, excuses are running out.

Transgender Illegal Alien Child-Rapist Gets ‘Time Served’ Sentence in Sanctuary NYC
A transgender illegal alien – who was previously released by a sanctuary city – has pleaded guilty to raping a 14-year-old boy, but won’t spend any additional time in prison after he is sentenced to “time served” on April 27.
Nicol Alexandra Contreras-Suarez, a biological male and illegal alien from Colombia, pleaded guilty to second-degree rape in Manhattan Supreme Court Tuesday in exchange for a sentence of the six months he has already served in prison.
Before the plea deal, Contreras-Suarez was facing charges for first-degree rape of a child less than 17 and stalking, according to a July 2025 news release from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
On February 11 of last year, Suarez followed a 14-year-old into the bathroom of a Harlem bodega, where he raped the minor. He was caught on camera leaving the bodega and was arrested the next day. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) issued a detainer request to Manhattan Central Booking on February 13, in hopes taking custody of Suarez for deportation.
New York City, where Suarez is being detained, is an illegal alien “sanctuary,” however, meaning it has a policy of denying ICE detainer requests and refusing to cooperate with federal immigration authorities. Suarez has been imprisoned at Rikers Island (part of New York City) since legal proceedings began in July 2025.
He was previously arrested in Massachusetts on robbery, weapons and prostitution charges, but was released due to local sanctuary city policies, according to (DHS) officials.
In March of 2023, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) arrested Suarez for illegally entering the United States at San Ysidro, California, but he was later released.
Suarez’s freedom might be short-lived once the judge approves his plea deal on April 27, however.
“We expect the defendant to remain detained and be deported following sentencing, due to the felony conviction,” a spokesperson for the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office said in a statement, suggesting potential cooperation with ICE, in Suarez’s case.
