Networks Show Mixed Interest in The Atlantic’s ‘Operation Get Kash’ Smear
Another day, another anonymously sourced hit piece run by the Elitist Media against a member of the Trump Administration. The playbook run against then-Judge Brett Kavanaugh and then-Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth is now being deployed against FBI Director Kash Patel. But the network evening news seems to show early mixed interest in this operation.
Watch as the NBC Nightly News ran a report that sought to substantiate the allegations against Patel but did little more than rehash Patel celebrating with Team USA:

TOM LLAMAS: Now to that $250 million defamation suit filed by the FBI director over a report accusing him of excessive drinking. He dismissed it as a hit piece designed to drive him out of his job. Kelly O’Donnell has the late details.
KELLY O’DONNELL: Tonight, a battle over reputation and reporting.
KASH PATEL: You want to attack my character, come at me, bring me on. I’ll see you in court.
O’DONNELL: Today, FBI Director Kash Patel filed a defamation suit seeking a staggering $250 million against The Atlantic Monthly Group, after its April 17th story citing anonymous sources reported that bouts of excessive drinking and erratic behavior have put his job on the line. NBC News has not independently verified that reporting. The story claimed on multiple occasions, the director’s security detail had “difficulty waking Patel” and states that “a request was made late last year for breaching equipment to gain entry”. Patel’s lawsuit calls that claim “pure fantasy” and states that breaching equipment “is provided to all FBI protection details”. Patel had faced criticism for this moment, when he partied with U.S. Men’s Hockey winning Olympic gold. He responded that he was extremely humble to celebrate with the boys.
The director’s lawsuit alleges The Atlantic’s story contains false and obviously fabricated allegations, and ignored the FBI’s response before it was published. While The Atlantic says, “we stand by our reporting on Kash Patel.” Tom.
LLAMAS: OK Kelly, thank you.
So committed is Kelly O’Donnell to this charade that she quoted the article’s original title in her introduction to the report, the “put his job on the line” phrase, despite the fact that The Atlantic changed that title via ghost edit- as one does when they “stand by” their reporting.

It says quite a bit about this article that ABC’s World News Tonight, the most Trump-deranged among the traditional broadcast nightly network newscasts, ran a brief at the bottom of A-block, as opposed to some 3-minute top shelf item with Mary Bruce or Rachel Scott.

DAVID MUIR: To other news this Monday: tonight, FBI director Kash Patel filing a $250 million lawsuit accusing The Atlantic of defamation. The FBI director furious over a report in the atlantic alleging he has, quote, bouts of excessive drinking impacting his job performance. The report claiming it is a source of concern across the government. The lawsuit claims, quote, the atlantic knowingly published defamatory information. Patel telling ABC news the story, quote, “is a lie.”
This doesn’t exactly instill confidence in The Atlantic’s reporting. CBS thought better than to air these allegations and declined to run them on the Evening News.
The Atlantic has a history of running Trump-deranged fiction that won’t play anywhere else. The most notorious example of this genre is the despicable Suckers and Losers Hoax.
Patel’s defamation lawsuit against The Atlantic will endure as a story long after this operation fades from the headlines. Meanwhile, the Elitist Media continue to remind us why trust in media is at an all-time low.
After Netflix, What Is Democratic Megadonor Reed Hastings’ Next Move?
The founder and chairman of Netflix, the Democratic megadonor Reed Hastings, is stepping down from the company’s board in June “in order to focus on his philanthropy and other pursuits,” the company announced late on April 16.
Netflix stock price sagged on the news and was trading in the $94.50 range Monday afternoon, down from a close of $107.49 on the day of the announcement. Hastings, 65, owns about 21 million shares, which were worth more than $2 billion at the higher price, and less than $2 billion at the lower price.
The departure’s significance is not just financial; it’s political. Hastings, whose net worth Forbes estimates at $5.2 billion, is already a prolific Democratic donor; federal campaign finance records show he gave more than $20 million from 2020 onward to Democrat-affiliated or anti-Trump committees. His wife, Patty Quillin, gave an additional $5 million. Leaving the helm of a publicly traded company may free Hastings up to devote even more time and money to politics and to policy-related charitable giving.
President Trump is following the story and took a shot at Hastings in a Truth Social post issued at 10:55 pm Friday night: “Was Reed Hastings forced to leave the Netflix Board because he’s a SLEAZEBAG? What was his Crime, and how many did he commit?”
President Obama and Michelle Obama announced over the weekend that their production deal with Netflix, which began in 2018 and was extended in 2024, is now “in a process now of transitioning to a more independent [future] where we can work with a bunch of different studios,” Deadline reported. Obama administration official Susan Rice remains on the Netflix board. It’s not clear whether the end of the Obama deal is related to the departure of Hastings, but it hasn’t exactly been a huge success either commercially or as a government-relations move.
Securities law mandates disclosure of stock sales by corporate directors, but not by former directors. Exiting the board will allow Hastings to sell his shares without being subject to insider-selling filing mandates, prompting some discussion.
Netflix had been competing with Paramount Skydance Corporation for control of Warner Bros. Discovery, which controls CNN; Paramount, led by David Ellison, won that takeover battle earlier this year.
In addition to being involved with the national Democratic Party, Hastings and Quillin are also politically active in California. Hastings gave $7 million in 2018 to “Families & Teachers for Antonio Villaraigosa for Governor 2018, sponsored by California Charter Schools Association Advocates,” California records show, and $3 million in 2021 to “Stop the Republican Recall of Governor Newsom.” Quillin gave more than $7 million from 2020 onward to California committees working on “decarceration” and fighting against tough-on-crime ballot initiatives.
Hastings, a board member of Bloomberg, shares some of former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg’s more constructive philanthropic passions when it comes to charter schools and education reform. He is on the board of KIPP, a charter school network, alongside Emma Bloomberg. He’s also on the board of City Fund, alongside Romy Drucker, who directs the education program at the Walton Family Foundation, which also supports charter schools. He’s on the board of Khan Academy, the ed-tech project that grew out of Sal Khan’s viral educational videos. In 2020, Hastings and Quillin announced a $120 million gift to historically black colleges, another area that has also been a focus for Bloomberg.
Quillin’s giving and volunteering is more idiosyncratic. She’s on the board of The 19th, which covers “gender, politics, policy and power” and describes itself as a newsroom “born out of the 2016 election, when Hillary Clinton lost to Donald Trump following a campaign that far too often centered around questions of a woman candidate’s ‘electability’ or ‘likeability.’” She’s also on the administrative board of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, which is focused on birds.
“A pivotal moment in Patty’s journey occurred in 2016 when she visited a group of young men serving life sentences at San Quentin State Prison. This experience profoundly impacted her, leading to three years of volunteering at the prison and sparking a deep passion for criminal justice reform. Patty is now a passionate advocate for creating a more humane and rehabilitative justice system,” according to a bio of her on the website of Chicken & Egg Films, another project where she is a board member.
Quillin’s bio also describes her as “Founder and Board Chair of Meadow Fund, a donor-advised fund of the Silicon Valley Community Foundation.”
Lateefah Simon had served as president of the Meadow Fund and now describes herself as “the first Muslim woman elected to Congress from California and the first member of Congress born with congenital blindness.” Simon has been churning out press releases calling for President Trump’s impeachment on the grounds that the conflict against Iran “puts him squarely in violation of the U.N. Genocide Convention, the Geneva Convention, and the Rome Statute.” Simon’s financial disclosure form as a congressional candidate in 2023 lists her as having earned income of $557,700 from “Patricia Quillin” in 2022.
Time reported in 2025 that Hastings and Quillin had given 2 million shares of Netflix—”worth about $1.1 billion in January 2024—to their education-focused Hastings Fund, a donor-advised fund at the Silicon Valley Community Foundation.” Because the Silicon Valley Community Foundation is a pooled fund, it’s hard to track what gifts coming out of it are directed by Hastings and Quillin, and what is directed by other donors. The Silicon Valley Community Foundation tax return for the year ending December 31, 2024 lists donations of $31.5 million to the City Fund and $26,651,118 to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology (Sapsucker Woods Rd, Ithaca NY).
Quillin and Hastings in 2012 signed the giving pledge, a commitment to give more than half of their wealth to charity. The Giving Pledge website links to a Variety report about a $5 million Hastings gift to White Stork, a Ukraine-focused charity that “will use the funds to support combat medics along the frontline with anti-drone jamming systems and other help.”
Spokespersons for Netflix and for the Silicon Valley Community Foundation did not respond by deadline to inquiries about Hastings’ plans.

NewsBusters Podcast: With Violent Crime In DC, Not All Victims Matter
Violent crime has declined dramatically in the District of Columbia since 2024, but can we trust the statistics? Washington Examiner reporter and author Anna Giaritelli discusses her book “Under Assault” and how her sexual assault in 2020 was left out of the DC police statistics, as well as how crime and illegal immigration are filtered through the elitist media.
Managing Editor Curtis Houck joined the show to draw details out of the book. The homicide rate so far this year is just 20, down 55 percent from 2025 at this point, and way down from the annual toll of 274 in 2023, under Biden. Many blue cities have seen a dramatic decline in crime, but who gets the credit? The liberal elitists of the media want to credit mayors, and make no connection to mass deportation of criminals under Trump.
Trump’s deployment of the National Guard to DC was treated as wildly controversial when it began. It was considered unnecessary, provocative, a waste of money — they showed troops standing around — as if their presence didn’t act as a deterrent. As crime went down, they didn’t want to cover it any more.
Anna recently reported that ICE announced that 457,000 illegal immigrants have been arrested in Trump’s second term, and of those, roughly 281,000 of them, or 61%, had criminal histories — they’ve been convicted or they’re currently facing charges. The 457,000 also included 1,600 known or suspected terrorists. Our media like to claim that most immigrants have no criminal histories, ignoring that illegal entry into the country or overstaying a visa is a crime.

New World Order: Lefty Elites Gathered for Global Progressive Summit Backed by Alex Soros
It appears that the newly minted king of the Open Society Foundations empire, Alex Soros, is cashing in on years of cultivating relationships with some of the world’s most powerful leaders to wage a global political assault against the right.
The radical leftist political party of Spain, El Partido Socialista led by Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, hosted the inaugural Global Progressive Mobilization summit between April 17-18. The whole affair was characterized as a “necessary alternative to conservative and far-right forces” the summit website and boasted that by “uniting regions and generations, we will defend democracy and advance social justice.”
The chilling goal, according to the mission statement, is to “turn conviction into action and ambition into results.” Soros couldn’t contain his enthusiasm regarding his involvement with the event in his April 18 X post, “It was an honor to welcome so many incredible leaders and advocates to Barcelona for the inaugural Global Progressive Summit.”

Soros praised the gathering as “a first-of-its-kind gathering that brought together thousands from over 100 countries and organizations.” Soros’ support for the Spanish-led global socialism shindy reflects his with the leftist country’s virulent opposition to President Donald Trump and Israel’s move to decapitate the murderous Islamic regime in Iran. “Why aren’t more Europeans standing up to an illegal war! Same with Canada! They make nice speeches at conferences, but do little. Spain is becoming the leader of the free world,” wrote in a March 2 X post. More like “leader” of a New World Order?
The summit was co-signed by a number of lefty outfits and socialist political organizations, such as the Soros-financed European Council on Foreign Relations and the Center for American Progress Action Fund. The ECFR and CAP Action received $49,987,199 and $5,265,000 respectively from the Soros empire between 2016 and 2024. The Soros-funded CAP Action, in particular, was listed as one of the summit’s “organizers.”
The anti-American/anti-Israel undertones of the event was further reflected by the high profile leaders who were in attendance. Jewish Insider noted a “chorus of anti-Israel voices,” beginning with Sanchez himself and including figures like Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, were all counted amongst the attendees. Sanchez, reflecting the Soros vitriol against the Jewish State, demanded April 18 for a downgrade in EU-Israel relations.
The Jewish Insider also reported that “Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sent video messages” in support of the gathering.
Talk about terrifying.
Democrats Have a Drinking Problem (But Not in a Good Way)
Democrats are out of control. It’s time to admit they have a problem and seek help. In recent days, several Democratic lawmakers have come under fire for excessive drinking—but not in a fun way.
Eric Swalwell, the former congressman and notorious degenerate accused of sexual assault, routinely used campaign funds to pay for alcohol. Swalwell placed more than a hundred orders on Drizly, the now-defunct alcohol delivery app, between 2020 and 2024. His prolific booze purchases accounted for almost 25 percent of Drizly payments by political campaigns, campaign committees, and PACs during that period, according to federal election records.
Swalwell was a founding member of the “Cool Kids Clique,” a group of Democratic lawmakers known for their heavy drinking and shameless philandering. One of the cool kids, Rep. Jimmy Gomez (D., Calif.), was seen making out with a much younger Democratic aide outside a party Swalwell hosted in 2023. Gomez, 51, was married with a small child at the time. Swalwell, 45, has three children and has been married to his second wife since 2016. Another member of the clique, Sen. Ruben Gallego (D., Ariz.), served his first wife with divorce papers in 2016 when she was nine months pregnant.
Democrats at the state level are also disgracing themselves with public drunkenness. Joe Fitzgibbon, the majority leader of the Washington state House of Representatives, had to apologize in February after slurring his words and falling asleep during an appropriations committee hearing. “This was a painful and embarrassing lesson, one I won’t forget,” Fitzgibbon said.
It would be natural to assume the Democratic Party’s drinking problem is most prevalent among male lawmakers, but the evidence suggests otherwise. Many Americans have expressed concern about Hillary Clinton’s relationship with alcohol. The failed presidential candidate recalled imbibing a “fair share of Chardonnay” to console herself after losing to Donald Trump in 2016. Kamala Harris also faced persistent rumors and allegations about her alcohol consumption. While we can’t prove that Clinton and Harris have a substance abuse problem, it might explain why both women were such terrible candidates.
Congresswoman Susie Lee’s recent behavior bears the hallmarks of chronic drinking. Earlier this month, the Democrat from Nevada fired off a profanity-laced X post at around 1 a.m. in response to an article about Trump’s plan to attend oral arguments at the Supreme Court. “So fucking fucked up,” Lee wrote. “I’ll pray they fuck him to his face. Sorry, I say fuck a lot these days.” Conservative commentator Steve Guest suggested the congresswoman was either “blackout drunk when she tweeted this or it was a staffer posting from her account.”
Less than three weeks later, Lee was reportedly spotted in a Whole Foods buying wine at 11:40 a.m.
Copious alcohol consumption might explain why Lee took part in a bizarre “Choose Your Fighter” TikTok video alongside Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) and other Democrats in 2025. Even CNN’s Abby Phillip found it appalling. Conservative commentator Scott Jennings spoke for millions of Americans when he described it as “the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen.”
Lee has demonstrated an eagerness to attend alcohol-fueled celebrations—even if it means putting her fellow citizens at risk. On several occasions during the COVID-19 pandemic, the congresswoman defied her state’s mask mandate to party with rich folks and celebrities. In October 2021, Lee was photographed dancing (somewhat tipsily) without a mask at a ritzy gala honoring Chinese-Malaysian billionaire K.T. Lim. The event was sponsored by Moët Hennessy, the French wine and spirits conglomerate.
California governor Gavin Newsom has also faced criticism for glugging wine at fancy restaurants during the pandemic. He has also faced questions about providing alcohol to minors. This week, a video resurfaced from a 2006 interview in which Newsom, then 38 and mayor of San Francisco, lashed out when confronted with allegations of letting his 19-year-old girlfriend drink wine at an official event.
Republicans have also faced allegations of problematic drinking, but these instances have typically involved behavior that most Americans would describe as fun, whereas Democrats seem to be abusing alcohol as a means to commit sexual crimes, cheat on their wives, endanger the lives of their fellow citizens, and illegally inebriate their barely-legal girlfriends.
Jack Schlossberg, the (allegedly) sober yet deeply troubled Kennedy scion, is currently favored to win a seat in Congress. Despite lacking any discernible skills, Schlossberg is outpolling his Democratic primary opponents due to the fact that liberals continue to revere the Kennedy family—a vile consortium of bloated alcoholics and chronic sex pests—for reasons that defy explanation.
Swalwell’s devious escapades are in keeping with the Democratic tradition established by Schlossberg’s great uncle, Ted Kennedy, who suffered no consequences for driving his car off a bridge and killing Mary Jo Kopechne. Kennedy, who went on to serve in the U.S. Senate for four decades after the incident, is best known for making a “waitress sandwich” with former Sen. Chris Dodd (D., Conn.) during an alcohol-fueled romp in 1985.
Donald Trump, by contrast, has been a teetotaler his entire life.
