REVEALED: George Soros Poured $36.8 Million into Apparatus Controlling His Prosecutors

February 7, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Newsbusters

It turns out that leftist billionaire George Soros was much more financially involved with the group controlling his radical prosecutors than originally analyzed.

MRC Business’s landmark investigation, “Law & Dis-Order: How The Soros Machine Directs and Controls Prosecutors Across America to Implement His Leftist Agenda,” revealed how the Soros machine directs and controls the radical soft-on-crime prosecutors tearing apart the justice system across the country.

The findings were based on MRC obtaining 7,785 pages of internal communications and documents through multiple public records requests. One of the prominent Soros-backed groups uncovered in the report setting the agenda for the prosecutors, Fair and Just Prosecution, is a project of the leftist Tides Center, which the report noted had received at least $14 million between 2016 and 2022 from Soros, including a $10,000 grant Soros directly gave to FJP through Tides.

But it turns out Soros funneled much more than that into Tides Center’s coffers. The Open Society Foundations database only permits users to view grant records as far back as 2016, which means any funding prior to that year is obscured. MRC Business researchers then searched through Foundation Directory Online, another database which includes data on grants given and received by philanthropic organizations based on 990 tax filings. After manually compiling the data, MRC found that Soros actually gave at least $36.8 million total between 2003 and 2022. That now brings the total he’s spent on groups that would end up working to direct and control his 126 radicalized prosecutors across the U.S. to at least $140,228,678. This includes the now-adjusted $100,228,678 he poured into the 20 nonprofits controlling his prosecutors in addition to the $40 million he spent getting his prosecutors elected in the first place.

Spending $140 million just to further a leftist political agenda should shock the conscience.

This development comes after the firestorm over social media regarding the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) having a total obligation of approximately $27 million to Tides Center between 2016 and 2024. This and Soros’s funding perfectly encapsulates the “whole of society approach.” That is the phrase the Biden administration used to describe its plan to harness an interconnected alliance of public and private actors for furthering the leftist agenda. Soros is most definitely in the top echelon of this vendetta, if not the primary force behind it.

To be clear: USAID’s funding of Tides is an egregious abuse of taxpayer dollars to begin with, but is still much less than the total piles of cash Soros has spent on Tides Center overall.  Readers shouldn’t be under any illusion that Soros is a minor player in any of the causes or candidates he backs. As Soros told The New York Times in 2019, “‘The arc of history doesn’t follow its own course. It needs to be bent,’ he said. ‘I am really engaged in trying to bend it in the right direction.’”

Soros also boasted that “[i]t is a sort of disease when you consider yourself some kind of god, the creator of everything, but I feel comfortable about it now since I began to live it out,” according to The Independent in 1993.

I’m gonna lose my mind.
No… USAID did not fund the Soros DAs https://t.co/07CRmcDDHW pic.twitter.com/uOlSN8UtX2
— Parker Thayer (@ParkerThayer) February 7, 2025
The important thing to note about any funding that Soros gives to anything is that it comes with the presupposition that his empire will have either direct or indirect influence in how his political candidates and grantees operate, including whatever projects they launch. In MRC’s report on Soros prosecutors, researchers included detailed descriptions and images of communications that prosecutors directly had with the Open Society Foundations, explicitly implicating Soros in influencing how these prosecutors operate aside from Tides’s FJP, among the other Soros-funded groups involved in this scheme.

As the recently-discovered USAID-backed Politico noted in an August 2016 headline on Soros, “George Soros’ quiet overhaul of the U.S. justice system.” The lede paragraph speaks for itself:

While America’s political kingmakers inject their millions into high-profile presidential and congressional contests, Democratic mega-donor George Soros has directed his wealth into an under-the-radar 2016 campaign to advance one of the progressive movement’s core goals — reshaping the American justice system.

In other words, transforming the U.S. criminal justice system into his personal plaything was always Soros’s personal endeavor, before USAID even began its obligations to Tides around September 30 2016.

A radical billionaire with a self-admitted god complex precludes any notion that he would be subservient to the whims and fancies of any government entity in an apparatus that he’s worked decades to influence. As former president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Morton Abramowitz once said of Soros in 1995, “He’s the only man in the U.S. who has his own foreign policy – and can implement it,” and that’s with billionaires like Bill Gates being very much active at the time.

Former Morgan Stanley Dean Witter Chief Strategist Byron Wien even said that Soros wielded “‘more influence in the world than anyone who has ever held high elective or appointive office,’” according to late New York Times journalist Michael T. Kaufman’s book Soros: The Life and Times of a Messianic Billionaire (2002).

Late City Journal contributing editor Stefan Kanfer (a former Time writer), who referred to Soros as a “Connoisseur of Chaos,’’ perfectly summarized the Soros empire’s global agenda: “Underneath its lofty rhetoric, the organization was clearly devoted to the eradication of national sovereignty.”

Harvard Business School Isidor Straus Professor of Business History Geoffrey G. Jones even co-authored a study on Soros, describing his persona as a “stateless statesman.”  In essence, Soros isn’t a simple benefactor by any means. He’s very much an active player in what he finances, and he answers to no one but himself.

But that in no way cancels out the horrific abuse of taxpayer dollars perpetrated by the government hacks over at USAID. If anything, the revelations of USAID funding should encourage readers to view them as being aligned with the Soros vision, not the other way around. As Daily Signal managing editor Tyler O’Neil wrote, “It is no accident that USAID’s funding has dovetailed with the grantmaking of leftist billionaire George Soros’ Open Society Foundations—and the foreign funding pause will undermine his efforts.” According to O’Neil, Soros and USAID have worked in tandem with one another for years, putting an exclamation point on the government influence that Soros largely wielded under the radar:

‘[President Joe] Biden’s USAID and George Soros’s Open Society Institute frequently partnered by co-funding joint programs that promoted radical social agendas throughout the developing world,’ Max Primorac, former acting chief operating officer at USAID, told The Daily Signal in an interview Tuesday. Primorac served at USAID from February 2018 to January 2021.

It’s no wonder then why Biden would cap off his tumultuous term as president by giving Soros with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The Soros empire is a dark monolith that every American who cares about the American justice system should be wary of. Soros’s career is marked by using his fortune to turn American society on its head, and the halls of government, including USAID, are just a few of the many vehicles he uses to do it.

NBC Contradicts Itself After Bashing Trump for Saying Air Traffic Control Comments

February 7, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Newsbusters

On Friday morning, NBC chief Capitol Hill correspondent Ryan Nobles was tasked with providing Today with a full segment updating viewers on the investigation into the deadly January 29 mid-air crash over the Potomac River between an American Airlines flight and an Army black hawk helicopter, but predictably made sure to attack President Trump.

Nobles slammed Trump for “suggesting the aviation system is outdated without providing many examples.” In a clip from remarks to the National Prayer Breakfast, Trump said this: “We should have had better equipment. We don’t. We have obsolete equipment.”

Fact-check to Nobles: Pants on fire. The air traffic control system (ATC) is, in fact, antiquated. Says who? Well, here was Nobles’s own colleague Tom Costello — who actually covers aviation for NBC — hours earlier on Thursday’s NBC Nightly News:

COSTELLO: [T]he FAA has notified airlines that it’s cutting the number of arrivals from 28 to 26 per hour at Reagan National with investigators concerned for air traffic controllers, “who have an increased level of stress while also having a front row view of the accident recovery.” Today, President Trump suggested the nation’s antiquated ATC system played a role in the accident.

TRUMP: We should have had better equipment. We don’t. We have obsolete equipment.

COSTELLO: The new Transportation Secretary, Sean Duffy.

TRANSPORTATION SECRETARY SEAN DUFFY: I had a conversation with Elon Musk yesterday.

COSTELLO: — says Elon Musk will help overhaul air traffic control, which the FAA has spent years trying to upgrade but without full congressional funding.

How embarrassing.

Worse yet, Nobles (and Costello) played clips of National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy as having said she’s open to “anyone” trying to help upgrade the system with Elon Musk being “certainly on the cutting edge of technology.”

And there’s plenty of articles prior to the crash sounding this alarm. This was a Wired headline from February 2014: “Why 40-Year-Old Tech Is Still Running America’s Air Traffic Control.”

Over two years later, an Economist headline read: “Antiquated air traffic control systems are becoming a serious threat to safety.”

How about CNN? In January 2023, an article on their website declared “Aging, outdated technology leaves air travel at risk of meltdown.”

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) — chairman of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee — said at a December 12, 2024 hearing that this has long been a problem plaguing the industry.

Putting it more bluntly, Steve Forbes said this week that our air traffic control system is so old it uses “technology that belongs in the Smithsonian.”

Sure, the industry has discussed pleading with Congress for funding, but was it their clear top priority. A January 2023 article by our friend and MRC Bulldog Award winner Andrew Kerr of the Washington Free Beacon suggested, under Biden Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, that wasn’t exactly the case.

Trump Wants Him Fired! The Worst of Eugene Robinson

February 7, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Newsbusters

President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social account to call for Washington Post columnist and MSNBC contributor Eugene Robinson’s firing after he attempted to “justify the waste, fraud, and corruption” at USAID.

On Friday’s edition of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Robinson railed: “They don’t care what happens to the people of the world because they don’t vote in the United States. They don’t care that hundreds of millions of people are going to have to be on the edge of starvation if these programs aren’t restored immediately.”

A look through Robinson’s recent past shows he has an abiding hatred of all things Trump. The frequent MSNBC panelist also loves to defend Democrats like former Presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama, as well as Rep. Nancy Pelosi.

The following is just a few of the most obnoxious outbursts (via the MRC’s archive) from Robinson:

Trump Is a “Really Damaged Person” and That Makes Him “Really Dangerous”

“Beneath all that bluster — who am I to diagnose him, I’m not a psychologist. But there’s clearly some deep insecurity and, and feeling of inadequacy that causes him to, to, to continually lash out and puff himself up, and adopt this air of infallibility, which is, which is absurd. But that’s who he is. I think he is a really, really damaged person. And, you know, because of that, and for a lot of other reasons, he’s a really, he’s really dangerous. He proved that in four years as President. He would prove it again if he were ever allowed near the White House again. This is, this is not a well man.”— MSNBC’s Morning Joe, August 2, 2024.

Journalists Are Too Soft on Trump’s “Non-Stop Lies, Ominous Threats” and “Utter Gibberish”

“Harris was criticized for not doing enough interviews — so she did multiple interviews….She was criticized for not doing hostile interviews — so she went toe to toe with Bret Baier of Fox News. She was criticized as being comfortable only at scripted rallies — so she did unscripted events, such as the town hall….Trump, meanwhile, stands before his MAGA crowds and spews non-stop lies, ominous threats, impossible promises and utter gibberish. His rhetoric is dismissed, or looked past, without first being interrogated.”— Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, October 25, 2024.

Trump-Vance = One of the “Weirdest Tickets”

“So he [J.D. Vance] says this really kind of stupid, geeky, weird, dorm room, late at night kind of thing, right? He tosses off this insult about childless cat ladies, trying to be clever with Tucker Carlson. And it comes back to haunt him. And he can’t just take it back….He kind of doubles down and doubles down, because that’s what he’s expected to do if you’re Donald Trump’s running mate….I think this is going to keep sort of cropping up. So now, we have in Vance and Trump, one of the, like, weirdest tickets that I can recall. These are two really unusual people who say and do weird things.”— MSNBC’s Morning Joe, July 30, 2024.

Democrats “Can Really Slam Donald Trump” In this Election!

“What are Democrats doing? They are, they are voting with their dollars. They’re voting with their feet. There is an excitement, and enthusiasm, and optimism. A feeling for the first time in many months that this is not only a winnable race but that they can — they can really slam Donald Trump in this election coming up.”— Washington Post columnist on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, July 23, 2024.

Biden Is “Sharp As a Tack”

“Anybody who spent any time with Joe Biden since he’s been in the Oval Office knows that the reality is [he is] nothing like the, the, the dystopian picture that the Republicans are trying to paint, of this senile, doddering president. And he’s as sharp as a tack.”— Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, July 14, 2024.

Time to Sound “Alarm” of Trump’s Nazi Threat

Host Joe Scarborough: “When is the time to sound the alarm? When is the time to start saying, well, does this look like Germany in 1932? Does this look like Germany in 1933? Is now the time to start asking that question?”Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson: “Well, the time to start sounding an alarm, a general alarm, was some time ago. And people should be screaming now. The alarm should be at full volume. You know, one thing you — most columnists wisely resolve, is don’t bring out the Hitler/Germany analogy, you know? That’s — you never use that. We’re getting close.”— MSNBC’s Morning Joe, July 23, 2019.

Upset That Democrats Didn’t Attack “Lord Voldemort” Trump

Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson: “The absence of Trump in this discussion actually surprised me a lot. – ”Host Brian Williams: “Almost he who will not be mentioned. Robinson: “Exactly. It was like Lord Voldemort. You know, you couldn’t say his name whereas for a lot of people in the country that is the main issue.”— MSNBC’s Democratic Debate: Post-Debate Analysis, June 26, 2019.

Nancy Pelosi Has Made Ours A More Perfect Union

“Along with thick skin and a wicked sense of humor, these skills helped make Pelosi by far the most consequential Speaker of our time….When she said she prayed for the presidents she supported and those she opposed, including [Donald] Trump, she was serious. Nancy Pelosi is a believer. And her belief has made ours a more perfect union.”— The Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson in November 17, 2023 article “Nancy Pelosi was the Most Consequential Speaker of Our time.”

“American People” Acting Like “Spoiled Brats” Under Obama

“According to polls, Americans are in a mood to hold their breath until they turn blue. Voters appear to be so fed up with the Democrats that they’re ready to toss them out in favor of the Republicans — for whom, according to those same polls, the nation has even greater contempt. This isn’t an ‘electoral wave,’ it’s a temper tantrum….The American people are acting like a bunch of spoiled brats.”— Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson, September 3, 2010.

Missing Obama…

Hardball host Chris Matthews: “I’m going to start right across the table. American eloquence certainly.”…Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson: “It is wonderful to hear that man [Barack Obama] speak. I mean, the eloquence is so impressive. This was basically a speech to my ears about the Affordable Care Act, about health care, and that was the one area of substance that he really went into and he said it is a profile in courage for the freshmen Democratic members of Congress who voted for the ACA to do so knowing that they were risking their political careers.”— MSNBC’s The Profile in Courage Award: Barack Obama, May 7, 2017.

Hyper-Hypocrite Scarborough, King Of Nazi Analogies, Rips Trump For Criticizing Dems

February 7, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Newsbusters

I’m not big on recycling, and have even run afoul of the volunteer recycling police at our little community here, who discovered that I had put cardboard in the garbage dumpster.

So permit me to atone for my crimes against the planet by recycling one of my columns from five years ago.

I do so in response to Joe Scarborough’s castigation of President Trump on today’s Morning Joe for having criticized Democrats at yesterday’s National Prayer Breakfast, suggesting that they oppose God. (Some of us remember the 2012 Democrat convention, where a large number of Dems loudly screamed as they restored a menition of God to the party platform.)

Insisting he was “not preaching,” Pastor Joe went on to cite Scripture, in effect accusing Trump of being a bad Christian:

“Nancy Pelosi, even when Donald Trump was deriding her personally, attacking her personally, even when he mocked and ridiculed Nancy Pelosi’s husband being brutalized within inches of his death, she still talked about praying for Donald Trump.

And it was a concept he didn’t understand. It’s a concept that actually Jesus talks about in the Sermon on the Mount. I’m only bringing this up. It’s not preaching. This is just reporting on, if you’re going to the prayer breakfast, and you’re saying Democrats are godless heathen, and you don’t even understand that Jesus is, one of the first things that we learn in Matthew on the Sermon on the Mount is that you pray for your enemies. You pray for those who want to persecute you. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall be shown mercy. When you’re asked to forgive, you’re asked to forgive 70 times 7. That’s, that’s like the perfect number. So that lies at the heart of Jesus’ ministry.

“If you’re trying to bring the country together, you can pass on the whole; Democrats are godless Marxists because, yeah, maybe the most intense of the base believe it. But it’s kind of hard to spread that message at the same time you’re destroying PEPFAR. At the same time, you’re destroying all these other aid efforts that were actually inspired by religious organizations and presidents’ belief in Jesus Christ and the need that we needed to help the poorest among us.”

In that 2019 column, I noted Scarborough rebuking the inimitable Sen. John Kennedy [R-LA] for having said of Nancy Pelosi, “It must suck to be that dumb.”

As I wrote in response [emphasis added:

“When it comes to insulting Donald Trump in crude terms, Joe Scarborough is the veritable Don Rickles of political pundits. Scarborough’s faux-outrage could go down as one of the most egregious examples of hypocrisy and lack of self-awareness in recorded television history.”

The column detailed that in the previous few years, Scarborough had:

Called President Trump a “thug” and a “goon.”
Written that Trump “is not mentally equipped to continue watching our show.”
Smeared Trump in one long breath as a “bumpkin, fool, idiot, stupid old blubbery man who doesn’t know what he’s doing; weakest leader on the planet;” suffering from “pre-dementia.”
Called Trump a “jackass” and “plain out stupid.”
Accused Trump of “malignant idiocy,” and transforming into a “tyrannical president.”
Called Trump a “schmuck,” a vulgar Yiddish term, and compared him to a kid “pooping his pants.”
In more recent times, Scarborough has, of course, made a cottage industry of calling Trump a fascist and even “full-on Hitler.” Our Alex Christy has reported that, based on an analysis of a year’s worth of comments, Scarborough won the dubious distinction of being “The King of Nazi Analogies.”

Note: For the second day running, Scarborough misrepresented Trump’s restrictions on foreign aid. Yesterday, we caught Scarborough claiming that Trump’s executive order on USAID is “literally killing people across the globe right now.” Scarborough failed to note that Trump had excluded life-saving actions from his restrictions on aid activities.

Today, Scarborough accused Trump of “destroying PEPFAR,” the program aimed at curbing AIDS abroad. Scarborough failed to report that Trump has issued a waiver, permitting PEPFAR to continue distributing HIV medications.

Here’s the transcript.

MSNBC
Morning Joe
2/7/25
6:00 am ET

DONALD TRUMP: Because here in America, we are once again a nation that believes in ourselves. We believe in our destiny and trust in the providence of Almighty God.

And I can tell you the opposite side, the opposing side, and they oppose religion. They oppose God. They’ve lost their confidence. They’ve lost their confidence as a different group of people than I remember.

As the Bible says, blessed are the peacemakers. And in that end, I hope my greatest legacy, when it’s all finished, will be known as a peacemaker and a unifier. I hope that’s going to be clear.

MIKA BRZEZINSKI: All right. President Trump there with his unique style as unifier in chief yesterday at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington.

. . .

JOE SCARBOROUGH: It’s always fascinating to see Donald Trump at these prayer breakfasts. Because you never — it’s like a box of chocolate. You never know exactly what you’re going to get.

And so you have these calls for unity, and you also have these suggestions that Democrats were godless heathens that had lost their way. And of course, this suggestion that now suddenly, over the past couple weeks, America has become a great country again.

. . .

But it is interesting, and it does need to be brought up, that Nancy Pelosi, even when Donald Trump was deriding her personally, attacking her personally, even when he mocked and ridiculed Nancy Pelosi’s husband being brutalized within inches of his death, she still talked about praying for Donald Trump.

And so I just remember when Nancy Pelosi talked about praying for Donald Trump. He said, oh, nobody believes that. How could you ever do that? He’s also a man who has said that he’s never had to ask God for forgiveness, either.

So again, what one does at the prayer conference when — prayer breakfast — when one is President of the United States, obviously is up to them. I would say, though, just a recommendation, if you’re trying to bring the country together, you can pass on the whole, Democrats are godless Marxists because, yeah, maybe the most intense of the base believe it.

But it’s kind of hard to spread that message at the same time you’re destroying Pepfar. At the same time, you’re destroying all these other aid efforts that were actually inspired by religious organizations and presidents’ belief in Jesus Christ and the need that we needed to help the poorest among us.

And so, interesting time to be delivering that message. Let’s hope, again, a page is turned. Hope springs eternal. Let us hope that the two sides can figure out how to get along. And that starts by one side not calling the other side godless heathens. Just a suggestion. Just a suggestion.

MIKA: Just one small suggestion.

SCARBOROUGH: That may not be the best way forward.

CNN, Tapper Wants to Downplay, Dismiss Muslim Rape Gangs in the U.K., Decry Musk Spotlight

February 7, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Newsbusters

The liberal media had become so anti-Elon Musk they wanted to dissuade everyone from listening to what he had to say, including his pointing out of the Muslim rape gangs going unprosecuted in the U.K. Near the end of the first hour of Thursday’s edition of The Lead, CNN host Jake Tapper ran a report from CNN international diplomatic editor Nic Robertson decrying Musk for “opening old wounds” despite no justice ever being served in a crime spree that was still ongoing.

“Mr. Musk has been targeting Britain’s prime minister, Keir Starmer, over a sex abuse scandal from more than a decade ago, when Starmer was a prosecutor,” Tapper griped as he was leading into the segment. “CNN’s Nic Robertson has more for us now on how Musk’s actions are opening old wounds in a town in northern England.”

Despite admitting that “gangs of predominantly Pakistani heritage men groomed and gang-raped vulnerable young girls, exploiting them under the noses of authorities,” Robertson ignored that no one had been brought to justice and called it a “painful national scar that Elon Musk has helped reopen using his social media platform X to call for a national inquiry into these awful events more than a decade ago.”

Accusations from “more than a decade ago” never stopped the liberal media from continuously bringing up the sexual misconduct scandals in the Catholic Church, despite people being brought to justice and the reforms made.

Robertson also huffed that it was “winning Musk fans” in the forms of one of the victims. “I honestly can’t thank him enough for doing this because we need justice and we can’t keep going on year after year, decades on and still getting nowhere,” Samantha Walker-Roberts said. “Everyone’s finally listening.”

Not mentioned in the on-air report – only included in the online write up – Robertson noted that Walker-Roberts “believes that children from vulnerable backgrounds are still being groomed.”

While Robertson admitted that “For years, rape was happening in plain sight” and “Institutional failings repeated,” he lamented that Musk was putting a spot light on those in charge, predominately Prime Minister Keir Starmer:

Musk appears to have picked Oldham and the abuse scandal to reignite attacks on UK PM Keir Starmer that began last summer, picking up again early January when Musk began accusing Starmer, who was the chief prosecutor, as the child abuse scandal surfaced, of failing, tweeting: Prison for Starmer; Starmer must go.

Starmer accused Musk of, quote, “lies and disinformation.” The region’s former chief prosecutor questions Musk’s motivation.

With Starmer’s Labour Party affiliation conspicuously absent from both the on-air report and online article, Robertson bemoaned “Musk’s right-wing tweets amplifying posts focusing on crimes committed by, quote, ‘migrants,’ ‘Pakistani Muslim’ and Asian gangs are putting girls at risk.”

“Musk’s divisive onslaught has forced Starmer’s hand, triggering new legislation and a new but non-statutory inquiry for Oldham,” he decried the “bandwagon” effect Musk had created by putting a spotlight on the U.K. government failure to keep citizens safe and “perhaps figures, might drive Starmer from office.”

While being uninterested in holding the government accountable for failing to protect his fellow Brits, Robertson highlighted the outrage of apparent Pakistani heritage men who were public officials of one of the towns the rapes happened:

NAZIR AFZAL (former chief prosecutor for north-west England): He’s just — just stirring up a racist pot (…) When you just focus on the brown guy, you’re telling girls, beware of the brown guy. You’re not telling them that they’re 40 times more likely in this country to be abused by a British white guy.

(…)

ABDUL WAHID (Oldham councilor): Some of the rhetoric is coming out with is probably not helpful (…) It’s unhelpful because everybody starts pitching against each other.

Judging by what was shared in the reports, Robertson didn’t press them on getting justice for the victims and didn’t mention how liberal orthodoxy on cultural issues and fears of being called racist kept other officials from prying.

CNN’s The Lead
February 6, 2025
4:41:34 p.m. Eastern

JAKE TAPPER: In our law and justice lead, the United States is not the only country in the sights of Elon Musk. Mr. Musk has been targeting Britain’s prime minister, Keir Starmer, over a sex abuse scandal from more than a decade ago, when Starmer was a prosecutor.

CNN’s Nic Robertson has more for us now on how Musk’s actions are opening old wounds in a town in northern England.

[Cuts to video]

CAR RADIO: Good morning. Demands for a national inquiry into grooming gangs. Very close to the center of which is Elon Musk.

NIC ROBERTSON: In these northern English streets, gangs of predominantly Pakistani heritage men groomed and gang-raped vulnerable young girls, exploiting them under the noses of authorities.

It is this painful national scar that Elon Musk has helped reopen using his social media platform X to call for a national inquiry into these awful events more than a decade ago.

His intervention, targeting the UK prime minister, is winning Musk fans.

SAMANTHA WALKER-ROBERTS (victim): I honestly can’t thank him enough for doing this because we need justice and we can’t keep going on year after year, decades on and still getting nowhere.

ROBERTSON: What’s different this time?

WALKER-ROBERTS: Everyone’s finally listening.

ROBERTSON: Because of Elon Musk.

WALKER-ROBERTS: Yeah.

ROBERTSON: Sam, who was raped by a South Asian grooming gang, doesn’t want to show her face, fearing a backlash.

WALKER-ROBERTS: I went to the police station to report a sexual assault that had just happened. There were two men behind me. They interrupted and said, “we can give you a lift,” which the officer said, “yeah, go with them.”

ROBERTSON: So, the police handed you over to abusers?

WALKER-ROBERTS: Yes.

ROBERTSON: You were how old then?

WALKER-ROBERTS: Twelve. Yeah. As children we’re meant to trust officials. I was hurt from that.

ROBERTSON: Musk appears to have picked Oldham and the abuse scandal to reignite attacks on UK PM Keir Starmer that began last summer, picking up again early January when Musk began accusing Starmer, who was the chief prosecutor, as the child abuse scandal surfaced, of failing, tweeting: Prison for Starmer; Starmer must go.

Starmer accused Musk of, quote, “lies and disinformation.” The region’s former chief prosecutor questions Musk’s motivation.

NAZIR AFZAL (former chief prosecutor for north-west England): He’s just — just stirring up a racist pot.

ROBERTSON: Worse, he says, Musk’s right-wing tweets amplifying posts focusing on crimes committed by, quote, “migrants,” “Pakistani Muslim” and Asian gangs are putting girls at risk.

AFZAL: When you just focus on the brown guy, you’re telling girls, beware of the brown guy. You’re not telling them that they’re 40 times more likely in this country to be abused by a British white guy.

ROBERTSON: For years, rape was happening in plain sight. Institutional failings repeated.

According to an independent national inquiry, the child abuse scandal spanned dozens of British cities, affected thousands of children, threw shame on national institutions, heightened racial tensions. Particularly in cities like Oldham, historically poorer, with higher than national average immigration.

Oldham, a rust belt type of town, is also pushing back against Musk.

ABDUL WAHID (Oldham councilor): Some of the rhetoric is coming out with is probably not helpful.

ROBERTSON: Why is it unhelpful?

WAHID: It’s unhelpful because everybody starts pitching against each other.

ROBERTSON: Musk’s divisive onslaught has forced Starmer’s hand, triggering new legislation and a new but non-statutory inquiry for Oldham.

Sam says it’s not enough. What she wants from Musk is to stop enabling the right-wing.

WALKER-ROBERTS: He needs to say that this is about survivors, not about everyone else. And too many people are jumping on this bandwagon.

ROBERTSON: A bandwagon, Musk, perhaps figures, might drive Starmer from office.

Nic Robertson, CNN, Oldham, England.

TAPPER: And our thanks to Nic Robertson for that report.

CNN has reached out to Musk’s team for comment. We have not yet heard back. When we do, we will bring it to you.

Charlamagne Demands Dems ‘Donkey Punch These Mother*******’

February 7, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Newsbusters

Radio host Charlamagne Tha God stopped by Comedy Central and The Daily Show on Thursday for one of his irregularly scheduled “In My Opinion” rants. In a wild diatribe, Charlamagne said CEOs are the happiest they’ve been since Luigi Mangione was caught, played the Nazi card multiple times on Elon Musk, demanded he “go back to Africa,” and that Democrats “donkey punch these mother[bleep]s.” (For the unaware, here is a not safe for work Urban Dictionary link explaining what a “donkey punch” is.)

Charlamagne huffed that “three weeks into Trump Part Two, I don’t think he’s going to destroy democracy anymore. I think he’s already done it. The oligarchy is already here. I haven’t seen CEOs this happy since they caught Luigi at that McDonald’s.”

Putting up the picture of Musk on Inauguration Day that has widely and falsely been described as him doing a Nazi salute, Charlamagne rolled on, “Now, Trump has handed over the keys to the whole government to Elon Musk. Yeah, that’s right, Elon Musk, world’s richest man-child! The guy who innovated rockets and really innovated hand waving. And Musk is already doing so much damage to America that ISIS is getting FOMO.”

After a pair of CNN clips detailing the agencies Musk and DOGE are examining, Charlamagne added, “Yeah, Elon is stripping the federal government like it’s Kanye’s wife at the Grammys. If you think about it, Elon is the Kanye of the government, an egomaniac. No, he’s an egomaniac coasting off early success who is way more into Hitler than you would’ve thought. Okay, yeah. Somehow, Trump demanded we get rid of DEI, then gave the job of co-president to an unqualified, unelected African immigrant.”

He also claimed, “This country isn’t supposed to be run by incompetent foreigners. It’s supposed to be run by incompetent Americans. I can’t believe I’m saying this during Black History Month, but Elon, go back to Africa. Yes. And take your little minions too.”

Later in his rant, Charlamagne touched on a growing trend among the comedy shows: expletive-laden pleas for Democrats to get tough, “So we’re in some dark times, people. I just hope the Democrats are organizing an effective opposition to all this. Show them what you’re made of, Dems.”

In a clip, a solemn Sen. Chris Murphy was shown coping, “Hey there, um, Chris Murphy. It’s been a very long, long day today. Full of a lot of bullshit… so I poured myself a drink. It’s pink, it’s pink. It’s vodka grapefruit juice.”

Charlamagne responded, “You’re unwinding with a pink drink in the middle of the game? Mother[bleep], get some amphetamines and get back on the field! Okay? Come on, man. You got Elon out here pumped up on Mars juice and ketamine. And you’re out here having a sea breeze? Get in this fight, Dems. Your mascot is a donkey. Donkey punch these mother[bleep]s. Go hold a rally or something.”

After a cringe-inducing video of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer chanting, “I am going to stand with you in this fight. And we will win. We will win. We will win. We will win. We will win. We – won’t rest. We won’t rest,” Charlamagne broke out his own beverage. “Okay, see, now I need a pink drink. I need something to sip on. Lord have mercy. Yeah, this entire generation of Dem leadership has got to go, man.”

It took less than three weeks for Elon Musk to get liberals and Democrats to turn against rule by unelected bureaucrats, so maybe Musk’s efforts have had some positive benefits.

Here is a transcript for the February 6 show:

CHARLAMAGNE THA GOD: But three weeks into Trump Part Two, I don’t think he’s going to destroy democracy anymore. I think he’s already done it. The oligarchy is already here. I haven’t seen CEOs this happy since they caught Luigi at that McDonald’s. Yeah, and now, Trump has handed over the keys to the whole government to Elon Musk. Yeah, that’s right, Elon Musk, world’s richest man-child! The guy who innovated rockets and really innovated hand waving. And Musk is already doing so much damage to America that ISIS is getting FOMO.

KATE BOLDUAN: Elon Musk has essentially been a bull in the government’s China shop, closing programs, locking out employees from their offices, shutting down websites, locking up email accounts.

LAURA COATES: DOGE has its paws in USAID, the Treasury Department, NOAA, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Labor Department, even the Transportation Department.

CHARLAMAGNE: Yeah, Elon is stripping the federal government like it’s Kanye’s wife at the Grammys. If you think about it, Elon is the Kanye of the government, an egomaniac. No, he’s an egomaniac coasting off early success who is way more into Hitler than you would’ve thought. Okay, yeah. Somehow, Trump demanded we get rid of DEI, then gave the job of co-president to an unqualified, unelected African immigrant.

This country isn’t supposed to be run by incompetent foreigners. It’s supposed to be run by incompetent Americans. I can’t believe I’m saying this during Black History Month, but Elon, go back to Africa. Yes. And take your little minions too.

…

CHARLAMAGNE: So we’re in some dark times, people. I just hope the Democrats are organizing an effective opposition to all this. Show them what you’re made of, Dems.

CHRIS MURPHY: Hey there, um, Chris Murphy. It’s been a very long, long day today. Full of a lot of bullshit [jump cut] so I poured myself a drink. It’s pink, it’s pink. It’s vodka grapefruit juice.

CHARLAMAGNE: You’re unwinding with a pink drink in the middle of the game? Mother[bleep], get some amphetamines and get back on the field! Okay? Come on, man. You got Elon out here pumped up on Mars juice and ketamine. And you’re out here having a sea breeze? Get in this fight, Dems. Your mascot is a donkey. Donkey punch these mother[bleep]s. Go hold a rally or something.

CHUCK SCHUMER: I am going to stand with you in this fight. And we will win.

MAXINE WATERS: We will win.

SCHUMER: We will win. We will win. We will win. We will win. We – won’t rest. We won’t rest.

CHARLAMAGNE: Okay, see, now I need a pink drink. I need something to sip on. Lord have mercy. Yeah, this entire generation of Dem leadership has got to go, man.

Musk vs. The Swamp: Will He and Trump Make Real Cuts?

February 7, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Newsbusters

The Department of Government Efficiency has started making moves.

The D.C. media are furious about his attempts to cut government agencies.

But I take Elon Musk’s side.

More efficient government has been promised often. It’s never happened.

Instead, government just grew.

Sen. Rand Paul showcases stupid government “investments” like the $118,000 study of finger snapping, which the National Science Foundation said was “inspired by the infamous finger snap of the (comic book) villain ‘Thanos.’” The government concluded that “varying degrees of friction between the fingers alters … performance of a snap.”

Gee, thanks.

They even spent thousands of dollars to study whether Neil Armstrong, landing on the moon, said: “One small step for man,” or “one small step for a man.”

NASA says no “a” is audible in the recordings, and I never heard an “a,” but we all paid for an expensive study in which the Science Foundation concluded, “Ambiguity exists.”

Gee, thanks.

They also spent $1.5 million to study ways to improve the taste of tomatoes. Researchers found that sugar helps.

America is going broke. Silly rich people should fund such frivolous research. Taxpayers shouldn’t.

But each special interest will fight for its life, and even if Musk cuts all such funding, it would barely affect our ever-increasing deficit.

Let’s look at bigger cuts:

In my new video, Chris Edwards, editor of the Cato Institute’s “Downsizing Government” website, says, “The first thing I would cut is over a trillion dollars in subsidies to states and local governments — K-12 school funding, school lunch funding, food stamp funding.”

Giving people food stamps sounds kind, but Edwards notes that, “Taxpayers fund candy and cake,” and when “state governments ask to eliminate junk food … they aren’t allowed to.”

Really. States aren’t allowed to limit welfare payments for junk food.

Edwards also proposes cuts to corporate welfare: “Federal government spends $180 billion a year subsidizing corporations … but that doesn’t help the average person.”

More could be saved by selling the government’s stockpile of “an unbelievable 300,000 buildings.”

Many sit empty. The ones in my video look first-class, but government still won’t sell them.

Nor do bureaucrats sell land they don’t use. The federal government owns a lot, including most of the land in America’s west.

“We don’t know the market value,” says Edwards, “It is in the trillions.”

Instead of selling, politicians print more money and use it to buy even more land, like Biden’s recent purchase of 640 acres in Wyoming.

President Donald Trump says he will make cuts. Will he? Last time he didn’t.

This time he seems more serious about it.

He recently moved to end DEI programs, telling federal DEI workers, “Don’t come in.”

But he’s still paying them!

“It’s very difficult to fire federal workers,” Edwards points out.

Also, even if Trump managed to fire every federal employee, it still wouldn’t eliminate the deficit.

It’s almost impossible to do that, without cutting the biggest spending — Defense, Medicare, Social Security. So far, Trump says he won’t touch those.

“Trump does not have to solve the entire deficit problem in his four years in office,” says Edwards, “but he’s got to get the ball rolling.”

Government doesn’t need to balance the budget. If it just slowed spending growth, the private economy might grow enough to reduce our debt.

But how can the private sector grow when there are so many regulations?

“SpaceX had to do a study to see if Starship would hit a shark,” Musk complains. He says he told the regulators, “It’s a big ocean, you know? There’s a lot of sharks. It’s not impossible … “

When regulators finally dropped their shark objections, Musk thought the Space X launch was approved. “We said, ‘OK, now we’re done.’ And they said, ‘What about whales? … If the rocket goes underwater, then explodes, and the whales have hearing damage?’ This is real! It goes on and on.”

Maybe Musk will change that. Hope so. To overcome our ruinous deficits, we need growth. To get that, we need less government spending and fewer rules.

February 7, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Newsbusters

WILL NIEVES: Una gran diferencia.

Antonia Hilton, NBC News, Nueva York.

HOLT: Me encanta esa alegría abierta.

NBC’s Weird Bad Bunny Profile: A Puff Piece in Service of a Narrative

February 7, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Newsbusters

It’s been our long-held position that the “mainstream media” doesn’t care about anything or anyone except in service of an agenda. This is particularly true with regard to its coverage of all things related to Puerto Rico, and NBC’s latest fluff piece on trap megastar Bad Bunny is but the latest example.

Watch the report in its entirety, as aired on NBC Nightly News on Wednesday, February 5th, 2025 (click “expand” to view transcript):

LESTER HOLT: Finally, there’s good news tonight, about the power of music to bring all of us together and get out on the floor, including our Antonia Hilton.

ANTONIA HILTON: In early January, Brooklyn salsa instructor and studio owner, Will Nieves, noticed a lot of newcomers packing his Salsa 101 classes. Turns out, many were inspired by one man: Bad Bunny.

When you compare your beginner classes, pre-album dropping, post-album dropping. What’s it looking like?

WILL NIEVES: Big difference. We were always busy, 30-40, but some of these new classes are like 60, 70.

HILTON: For years, Bad Bunny- whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has been at the top of his game. Popularizing Spanish rap and hip-hop globally. But his latest album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos (I Should’ve Taken More Pictures), explores genres like Salsa and Jíbaro. It’s dominating the charts, inspiring Tik Tok dance challenges, and bringing generations together.

Will showed me the basics of the Puerto Rican variation on Salsa. One song has really struck a chord. Baile Inolvidable (Unforgettable Dance).

HILTON: When his music plays on these speakers, what do you see happen in the room?

NIEVES: Oh, my god, I hear clapping, cheering.

DANCE STUDENT: It channels all sorts of emotions in me, from sadness to happiness.

HILTON: Will says after everything his island has been through, from Hurricane Maria to massive protests, he believes Bad Bunny is sending a message.

NIEVES: I think he’s saying that Puerto Ricans are here. And Puerto Rico is not dying. We’re going to rebuild and grow even bigger.

HILTON: He just hopes we continue to listen, and dance. Antonia Hilton, NBC News, New York.

HOLT: Love that unabashed joy.

Recall that the media didn’t care about the immediate aftermath of the catastrophic Hurricane Maria until a Trump-averse angle could be found, at which time the story could be Trumpwashed. The media disparaged President Donald Trump’s visit to the island as a photo op and reported the paper towel conspiracy as if it were factual, elevating the socialist mayor of San Juan to Resistance Media darling status.

Likewise, the media didn’t (and still doesn’t) care about Puerto Rico’s severe landfill problems, until roast comic Tony Hinchcliffe addressed it at President Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden. Subsequently, the media wishcasted this as being the thing that would finally flip Pennsylvania, Florida, Georgia, and the presidency for Kamala Harris- aided and abetted by the endorsement of…Bad Bunny, bay bay bay.

And that’s really what this weird item about Salsa dancing is about. It’s less about the dancing than about the mainstream media (a): once again pretending to care about Puerto Rico and (b): sending a signal that Bad Bunny is indeed a part of the broader “progressive” culture.

In fairness, Benito’s done all the things required in order to fit into Hollywood culture. From wearing skirts on the red carpet, to dating a Kardashian sister, to endorsing Kamala Harris for president. But, as always when it comes to the mainstream media and who they choose to elevate, you have to look for what gets left out of the narrative.

There is the issue of Bad Bunny’s raunchy and misogynist lyrics, always paired to beats that are absolute ear crack (especially the trap beats). Because he sings exclusively in Spanish, he is able to evade the scrutiny that befell Cardi B, for example, after the release of W.A.P.

Consider this bit of lyrical poetry from his paean to 90s and early 2000s reggaeton, Safaera (STRONG ADVISORY):

Mi bicho anda fugao’ y yo quiero que tu me lo esconda’/ Agárralo como bonga/ Se metió una pepa que la pone cachonda/ Chinga en lo’ Audi, no en lo’ Honda/ Ey, si te lo meto no me llame’/ Que esto no es pa’ que me ame’ ey/ Si tu novio no te mama el culo/ Pa’ eso que no mame

Which loosely translates to:

My cock is a fugitive and I want you to harbor it/ grab it like a bonga/ She popped a pill that made her horny/ She fucks in Audis, not in Hondas/ Hey, if I fuck you don’t call me/ This ain’t for you to fall in love- hey/ If your boyfriend doesn’t eat your asshole/ He might as well not eat at all

Then, there is the matter of politics and political endorsements. Bad Bunny’s endorsement of Kamala Harris (which had zero effect in Pennsylvania and Florida, as hoped) was touted far and wide. His endorsement of separatist communist Juan Dalmau for the governorship of Puerto Rico, though, did not garner as much coverage.

While visiting Venezuela, Dalmau said that he felt like he was “among family” with President Nicolás Maduro and Comandante Hugo Chávez. Upon the death of the homicidal Cuban tyrant Fidel Castro, for example, Dalmau said:

Fidel Castro was a loyal and invincible follower of (Simón) Bolívar and (José) Martí in his incorruptible and consequential struggle for the independence of our Americas and of Puerto Rico. “Not a single step backwards. Not even to gain momentum.”

Although independence is a noble ideal there is little doubt, as I’ve said before, that a free and independent Puerto Rico would be neither of these for very long before quickly falling into the Castro-Chavista axis- which would cause all manner of problems both in the region and here at home.

As always, when looking at what mainstream media chooses to elevate and promote, you have to ask yourself why and why now. This is especially true with regard to NBC’s puff piece on Bad Bunny, a reminder that the media don’t care about Puerto Rico unless there is an agenda to be served.

Lydic Demands Trump Address ‘Reproductive Rights’ Instead Of Protecting Women’s Sports

February 7, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Newsbusters

If there’s one thing The Daily Show’s Desi Lydic hates, it is Republican politicians putting the integrity of women’s sports above “reproductive rights” on their agenda. After President Donald Trump issued an executive order to that effect, Lydic took the Comedy Central airwaves on Thursday to label the whole thing a “performance.”

A sarcastic Lydic teed up a clip of Wednesday’s edition of World News Tonight on ABC by declaring, “He tried to buyout the entire workforce of the CIA, his DOJ is going after anyone who’s investigated him, and now he has defeated America’s biggest threat.”

In the clip, senior political correspondent Rachel Scott used the liberal language to report, “At the White House today, President Trump signing an executive order banning transgender women and girls from competing in women’s sports.”

That was followed by a clip of Trump proclaiming, “With this executive order, the war on women’s sports is over” and “We’re putting every school receiving taxpayer dollars on notice that if you let men take over women’s sports teams or invade your locker rooms, you will be investigated for violations of Title IX and risk your federal funding.”

Lydic returned to first make fun of Trump’s manner of speaking, “You notice how he paused right before ‘Invade your locker rooms?’ Like, ‘Maybe we won’t make that illegal. Should have proofread this.’”

As to the larger point, she continued, “Look, it’s bad enough that he’s banned trans women from sports. But spare us the performance of pretending that this is a top issue for women in this country. Maybe start with, I dunno, reproductive rights, or pay inequality. Or why it’s 2025 and still, none of my clothes have pockets.”

It would be kind of hard to address pay inequality considering it is a myth. It also is just weird that Lydic would claim that there should be a right to kill a baby under the in an abortion under the guise of women’s “reproductive rights,” but she can’t even bring herself to say that female anatomy has anything to do with being a woman. Meanwhile, 79 percent of Americans, including 67 percent of Democrats, agree with the premise behind Trump’s executive order.

Here is a transcript for the February 6 show:
