Democrats Sink to NEW LOW — Now They’re Defending Illegal Alien Human-Smuggling Stash Houses

May 2, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: Gateway Pundit, INVESTIGATIONS

It was only a matter of time… Democrats are now defending illegal alien human-smuggling stash houses.

On Wednesday, crazy leftist lawmaker Becca Balint (D-VT) lectured Congress on how ICE had raided the wrong home in an Oklahoma raid and terrorized a family with young children.

Dem. Rep. Balint defends a stash house in Oklahoma. Bravo, Democrats! You’ve hit a new low.

Apparently, Democrats made it their mission this year to defend violent, wife-beating, gangbanging illegals from deportation from the country.

After all, wife-beaters, human traffickers, and illegal alien gangbangers are people too!

Here is her rant during a House committee hearing.

Rep. Becca Balint:  The morning of Thursday, April 24, about 20 armed federal agents broke into a home occupied by a family of U.S. citizens in Oklahoma City who had just moved there two weeks prior from Maryland. ICE agents, mistaking the current occupants for the former, broke down the door, terrorized the family, and they repeatedly said, we are citizens. You have the wrong people. We are citizens.

It happened in the middle of the night. Three children at gunpoint were forced outside. This was all a colossal mistake. The names on the warrant did not match the people who lived in the house. This is what we have created here.

This is Trump’s America. This is what my colleagues are trying to fund with this bill. Armed federal agents breaking into homes, even of US Citizens, traumatizing them, taking their possessions. This is Trump’s America… Open your eyes! Wake the hell up!

Poor Becca was immediately slapped with a community note using KOMO News as its source: “The April 24 Oklahoma ICE operation was a lawful, court-authorized action explicitly targeting a property that was a hub for human smuggling, not specific individuals, as falsely suggested by media reports.”

And later, Homeland Security released a statement on the Oklahoma raid in response to the outspoken Vermont Democrat.

Here is their response to Rep. Balint and fellow Democrats.

Wrong.

The April 24 Oklahoma ICE operation was a lawful, court-authorized action explicitly targeting a property, that was a hub for human smuggling, not specific individuals, as falsely suggested by media reports.

The day prior to the search warrant issuance and the day of the search warrant, HSI agents conducted surveillance, and confirmed via utility records that a member of the Lima Lopez Transnational Criminal Organization was still paying utilities at the residence.

The warrant, issued by a Federal Judge was based on an 84-page affidavit detailing probable cause that the address served as a “stash house” for human smuggling, authorizing the seizure of evidence such as electronic devices and documents, regardless of who was present.

The warrant targeted the property itself, not specific individuals, and its execution was not contingent on the presence of any person. HSI, with Oklahoma state police support, executed the warrant with precision, seizing electronic devices as authorized.

This court-authorized search was a critical strike against a dangerous human smuggling network in furtherance of our mission to protect American communities from the chaos unleashed by the Biden administration’s open-border policies. This is an ongoing investigation, and we have not ruled out current occupants involvement in the smuggling ring.

Democrats are now defending human smugglers.
It only took 100 days of Donald Trump back in office for Democrats to show the world who they really are.

How to get Trump’s nominations through the Senate

May 2, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, The Blaze

The Senate moved quickly to confirm President Donald Trump’s Cabinet and several key sub-Cabinet positions, including the FBI director and the director of national intelligence. But now, it appears ready to coast through the spring while critical posts remain unfilled. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) could solve the problem in a week — but only if he’s willing to put in long days and late nights.

This isn’t ceremonial work. These vacancies include essential positions, such as ambassador to the United Kingdom — just as the U.S. enters high-stakes trade negotiations with a key ally. The list also includes the undersecretary of defense and the head of the National Counterterrorism Center within the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

It shouldn’t be fantasy to expect a Republican-controlled Senate to work a full week — just once — to help the president build his team.

It doesn’t stop there. The comptroller of the currency at the Department of the Treasury — a post responsible for monitoring the health of U.S. and global banks — remains vacant. So does the director of the Office of Personnel Management, who oversees hiring across the executive branch, including the White House.

Roughly 30 nominees have cleared their Senate committees and now sit idle on the executive calendar, waiting for a vote. One of the most recent is Brian Burch, tapped to serve as ambassador to the Holy See. While the Vatican may not be the most strategic post on the geopolitical chessboard, the United States would be wise to have a representative in place when 1.4 billion Catholics prepare to select their next pope.

The president can’t carry out the most ambitious conservative agenda in a generation without a fully staffed administration. Waiting until August —
as the Senate reportedly plans — is unacceptable.

Here’s the reality.

The Senate’s constitutional role of advice and consent operates on two separate calendars: a legislative calendar and an executive calendar. Right now, the Senate is on the legislative calendar while it handles the budget and other bills. It can’t switch back and forth between calendars at will — unless it has unanimous consent, which it doesn’t. These days, switching to the executive calendar reliably burns 30 hours.

That’s why Thune must act with precision. On a Thursday, before senators flee town for the weekend, he should bring up every nomination on the executive calendar. He should then file cloture on each one individually. That would tee them up for debate starting Monday.

It’s not complicated. It just takes leadership and a willingness to work.

Thune needs to level with his members: We’re staying until the job’s done. This will take time. Senators typically stroll into Washington late Monday and skip town by mid-Thursday — meaning the average Senate “workweek” barely stretches past two days. That needs to end now. Weekend plans can wait.

Most of these pending nominations aren’t Cabinet-level or sub-Cabinet-level posts, so the minority’s power to stall is limited. Democrats can only hold up each vote for two hours. The Senate could start early, stay late, work overnight — whatever it takes. Even if Democrats drag their feet on every single nominee, the whole batch could be confirmed in roughly 70 hours.

Will they dig in for the full two hours on all 30 nominees? Maybe. But more likely, they’ll cave after a few long days. Democrats have lives, families, and fundraisers too.

If Republicans want to shorten the slog, they need to make the Democrats talk. That means showing up and holding the floor. Last year, Thune faced this same problem when he tried to advance the nomination of the Joint Chiefs chairman. Nine members of the majority leader’s own party skipped the 1 a.m. Friday vote! Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), for example, a rock-solid conservative but also no great friend of military brass, had tickets to the Masters Tournament.

I get it: That’s a cool thing for sure, but the weekend tournament is over, so no more excuses.

The dirty secret? Senators hate being on the floor. Despite the job description, they get fidgety, hungry, and thirsty — for more than just water.

So make it fun.

When I need a newsroom full of reporters to put in a 16-hour day — or just stay late — I use a trick that works every time: pizza and beer. It works across generations. Stock a conference room with food. Load the Republican Cloakroom with booze. Come on, folks — this is work, and
it can be fun.

They might even enjoy it. Until they don’t.

Eventually, some senior (or just tired) Democrats will tell their colleagues to knock off the stalling tactics so everyone can go home. This doesn’t need to drag into Saturday. But Thune needs to make it clear: If that’s what it takes, he’ll go that far — and his conference will back him up.

Remember, we live in a post-nuclear Senate. Thanks to the late former Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), confirmations now require only 51 votes. No filibuster, no excuses.

Of course, Democrats could make this easier. If they agree to stop delaying the inevitable, Republicans can hang out in their offices all they want and still finish the job.

None of this is easy. But it shouldn’t be fantasy to expect a Republican-controlled Senate to work a full week —
just once — to help the president build his team.

It’ll take cajoling. It’ll take Grubhub. It’ll take more than a few cases of beer and wine. But it’s doable — and well worth it.

Blaze News original: OB/GYNs not fleeing pro-life states after all, new study shows

May 2, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, The Blaze

A new study from the University of California at Berkeley, of all places, reveals that physicians specializing in obstetrics and gynecology are not fleeing states that have restricted induced abortions in the wake of the 2022 Dobbs decision from the U.S. Supreme Court.

To better understand the implications of the study, Blaze News spoke with Dr. Christine Francis, a board-certified OB/GYN with decades of experience, a current obstetrics hospitalist who specializes in high-risk pregnancies and deliveries, and the CEO of the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

‘Opposite to the expected finding if OBGYNs were leaving states where abortion is threatened.’

The study, published by JAMA on April 21, which obviously presumes abortion to be a critical component of “quality” OB/GYN care, surveyed more than 60,000 OB/GYNs to determine whether the Dobbs decision might impact where they decided to practice medicine. To the surprise of authors Becky Staiger and Valentin Bolotnyy, abortion policies in the individual states “did not significantly” affect the number of OB/GYNs working there.

The authors attempted to minimize the results, stating only that “there were no significant differences in trends in OBGYNs’ practice locations across states with different abortion-related policy environments after the Dobbs decision.”

But that assertion ignores a key finding from the study: States with the most permissive abortion laws post-Dobbs saw the smallest increase in the number of OB/GYNs. While all states apparently had an increase, according to the study, permissive states saw just a 7.7% increase, while states with abortion bans saw an increase of 8.3% and those that have “threatened” abortion saw a startling 10.5% increase.

These results left Staiger and Bolotnyy scratching their heads. Staiger has a Ph.D. in health policy and management and has attempted to identify “racial health disparities” in public health insurance programs in New York. Bolotnyy’s Ph.D. is in economics, and he is tied to the Deliberative Democracy Lab at the Center on Democracy at Stanford University.

“The only statistically significant difference suggested that the share of physicians who are OBGYNs decreased less in threatened states than in protected ones, opposite to the expected finding if OBGYNs were leaving states where abortion is threatened,” the authors ultimately determined (emphasis added).

The conclusion of the study was so out of step with liberal orthodoxy that Dr. Francis made a point of expressing her appreciation to Staiger, Bolotnyy, and JAMA for publishing it even though “it theoretically goes against the … prevailing political narrative.”

“We need to give credit where credit is due,” Francis said.

‘Induced abortion can’t be part of comprehensive reproductive health care if reproductive health care specialists … are not doing it.’

Unlike the authors and the journal, though, Dr. Francis is not at all surprised by the findings of the study. She told Blaze News that they merely reaffirmed what she and her group, AAPLOG, have known all along: that restrictions on abortion would not have any meaningful impact on the vast majority of practicing OB/GYNs.

The main reason they were so confident that Dobbs would have little effect on OB/GYNs is that so few OB/GYNs perform induced abortions. According to statistics Francis cited, anywhere from 76% to 93% of all practicing OB/GYNs do not offer abortions.

“Induced abortion can’t be part of comprehensive reproductive health care if reproductive health care specialists, the vast majority of them, are not doing it,” Francis explained.

Francis noted that such statistics cast doubt on talking points and narratives promulgated by what she called “the abortion industry.” Such narratives have attempted to dupe people into thinking that any abortion restrictions will lead to compromised medical care for women.

False though it may be, the presumption that quality health care for women depends on the ready availability of elective abortion appears to be far-reaching. A quick internet search turned up articles and research that all insisted the Dobbs decision posed a real threat to women and doctors:

  • “In states with strict abortion policies, simply seeing an OB/GYN for regular care can be difficult,” claimed a headline from NBC News.
  • “States With Abortion Bans See Continued Decrease in U.S. MD Senior Residency Applicants,” warned a study from the Association of American Medical Colleges.
  • “Over time, the inability of abortion-restrictive states to recruit new and existing clinicians will exacerbate widening health workforce disparities, with negative consequences for health care access, quality, and outcomes,” wailed a Health Affairs Scholar study.

Even a January 2024 article from JAMA suggested that abortion bans had created an “occupational health crisis for OB-GYNs,” who reported experiencing anxiety and “moral distress,” fears about possibly violating the law, and even symptoms of depression.

Not only does the new study challenge some of those reports, since the number of OB/GYNs seems to be growing across the board despite Dobbs, but, according to Francis, the increase in numbers of OB/GYNs in pro-life states likewise suggests better medical care for the women living there.

“Women that live in states that decided to protect life, it seems, have actually better access to the care of an OB/GYN,” she explained.

Francis described that trend as “encouraging” and “heartening” and expressed hope that it will continue.

Francis cautioned that while the study indicates that states that ban or restrict abortion have enjoyed a higher increase in OB/GYN counts since Dobbs, the study did not attempt to determine the reasons that some physicians moved to a new state.

In fact, Francis said she personally knows multiple physicians who left Indiana and its near-total abortion ban specifically because they wanted to continue performing elective abortions. Still, she claimed that pro-lifers should be encouraged that abortion restrictions have not prompted OB/GYNs to leave states in droves, as had been expected.

“At the very least,” she said, “these pro-life laws are not discouraging OB/GYNs from either coming to that state to practice or remaining in that state if they were already in that state.”

Moreover, Francis continued, by staying put regardless of abortion restrictions, OB/GYNs are signaling the irrelevance of abortion to the overall care they provide. To demonstrate her point, Francis imagined how she might react to restrictions on an obstetrics procedure she considers essential.

“If I was trying to practice in a state that said you can’t do a C-section for any reason,” Francis explained, “then I would probably leave that state because I wouldn’t be able to provide good care to my patients.”

Though promising, the new study is by no means a game-changer and will likely have no impact on any abortion laws at the local, state, or national level. However, it does at least call into question prevailing pro-abortion assumptions as well as demonstrate a willingness from apparently doctrinaire leftists to follow the truth wherever it leads.

As Francis neatly summarized, “This study just goes into that group of studies that help support the notion that we see in real-life, everyday practice that induced abortion is not a part of good health care.

“It’s not a part of essential reproductive health care.”

White House Fires Off Sizzling Response to Kamala Harris’ First Speech Since Election: ‘It Was a Great Reminder …’

May 2, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: Gateway Pundit, INVESTIGATIONS

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller used Thursday’s media briefing to absolutely obliterate former Vice President Kamala Harris.

On Wednesday, Harris gave her first public address since losing the 2024 election to President Donald Trump. This was quintessential Harris with all the cringe-worthy cackling and word salads many have come to loathe.

Miller was asked about the speech and Harris’ remarks criticizing President Donald Trump and his policies.

“I think it was a great reminder to the American people of just how blessed we all are that the leader sitting in the Oval Office today is President Donald Trump and not President Kamala Harris,” Miller told the White House Press Corps.

Miller said the speech was a “helpful reminder,” that a Harris presidency would have been a “travesty” and “a tragedy.”

“It would have been the end of America,” he said plainly.

“If we continued on this road of radical regulation, choking off American energy, sending our supply chains to foreign countries, taxing our economy to death, pushing this cancerous, woke ideology on our children, ending merit, ending scientific innovation, ending public safety … you know, everyone goes to the stores these days, everything’s locked up.

“Criminals roam free. The law-abiding citizens under the previous administration were punished while gang bangers were given red carpet treatment — Democrats, of course, are still giving gang bangers red carpet treatment — and then the border invasion,” Miller said, listing all the things Harris had done along with former President Joe Biden.

“If those policies had continued, it would have been the end of the American republic,” he stated once again.

He then got to what Harris should really be saying.

“The only thing Americans want to hear from Kamala Harris is an apology for joining Joe Biden — and remember she was the border czar — joining Joe Biden in aiding and abetting the invasion of our country. And we’re never going to stop talking about this, because what they did to this country is unforgivable,” Miller said, excoriating Harris and Biden.

He proceeded to call the previous administration’s work “an eternal stain on the Democrat Party.”

After listing countless instances of evil due to that border policy like murder, rape, and drug trafficking, Miller said he felt proud to come to work for a leader like Trump who actually had American citizens as his top priority.

The entire monologue was absolutely eloquent and music to the ears of any Trump supporter.

Miller verbally brutalized Harris in just three minutes.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt put the cherry on top of Miller’s onslaught, adding, “We encourage Kamala Harris to continue going out and do speaking engagements.”

Did Harris think the American people would forget about her time as vice president? There are still people being impacted by her choices in office having lost loved ones to illegal immigrant murderers and rapists.

Harris shouldn’t criticize Trump, but if she insists, we are going to get more great moments like this one from Miller.

Not evil, just incompetent

May 2, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Washington Free Beacon

Sorry, your stupid kid doesn’t need another doll.
Journalists: We’re even dumber than you thought.
Harris returns, Walz won’t go away.
Brian Stelter, enemy of the people.

It’s Friday, May 2, 2025

As expected, Donald Trump’s first 100 days in office have been an unprecedented success. The border is closed, markets are shaking out the last remnants of the Biden slump, and Rosie O’Donnell moved to Ireland. The arc of global trade policy is bending firmly in the direction of justice. This week we learned that Trump has personally saved 258 million lives through his efforts to crack down on fentanyl trafficking, according to Attorney General Pam Bondi. On Wednesday, the president scored a momentous victory for hardworking American families by resolving to end the scourge of spoiled little girls who torture their parents with incessant demands for more stuff. “Well, maybe the children will have 2 dolls instead of 30 dolls,” Trump told a group of childless liberal reporters at the White House. Their feeble minds couldn’t possibly understand this president’s limitless empathy or his laudable disdain for overconsumption. They think we should just give all our money to communists, or worse, the filthy Canadians. Never!

Not guilty by reason of credulity: Journalists were very agitated this week after one of their own, Alex Thompson of the New York Times, suggested the media were at fault for failing to expose the cover-up of President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline, which didn’t really need covering up because it was blatantly obvious to everyone except Democrats and journalists. Chuck Todd, the former NBC host, was shaking with rage. “This is not a media failure, this is a Democratic Party failure,” Todd fumed during a conversation with fellow journalist Chris Cillizza, formerly of CNN. “The virtue signaling that some people have done to try to say that the media missed this story. They didn’t miss this story.” (Yes, they did.)

Cillizza offered a more reasonable take. Democrats missed the story of Biden’s decline, he said, but not because they were willfully covering it up. They were simply too gullible and too blinded by partisanship to even consider that widespread concerns about Biden’s age, based on bountiful evidence, could be anything other than a nefarious right-wing conspiracy theory. Most journalists are Democrats, he noted, which means they have an “inherent and sort of unconscious bias” that made them “too willing to take the Biden team’s word for it” when the White House and other Democrats insisted the president was sharp as a tack or running circles around his younger aides. All that bullshit. “They were too credulous,” Cillizza said.

That’s the most charitable explanation, but it’s not even that charitable. Journalists aren’t the enemy of the people, see? They’re just a bunch of well-meaning and intellectually unserious hacks who are predisposed to serve as obedient mouthpieces for Democratic propaganda. They didn’t conceal the truth on purpose. They’re just incapable of distinguishing the truth from professional spin. It might be their best argument, but to believe it is to accept the fact that our cherished journalists are even dumber and more oblivious than we could’ve ever imagined.

A few of many, many examples that stand out:

Factcheck.org (July 2022): Denounced the Washington Free Beacon and other conservative outlets for sharing a video clip that showed Biden mindlessly reading the words “end of quote, repeat the line” off a teleprompter. Why? Because the clip was “misleading” and gave viewers the “false” impression that Biden “is becoming senile.” The fact-checking experts rendered their verdict based on a White House transcript, which claimed Biden had said, “Let me repeat the line,” even though he clearly hadn’t. The experts assessed that it was “not clear” if the transcript was accurate, even though it clearly wasn’t. They also cited a White House spokeswoman who said Biden’s phrasing was “intentional.” Two months later, Biden called out to congresswoman Jackie Walorski during a White House event, wondering where she was. Walorski had died in a car crash weeks earlier. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre denied that Biden had gaffed, suggesting that the dead congresswoman was “on his mind” and he wanted to acknowledge her “incredible work.”

Associated Press (June 2024): The AP fact-checked a video clip of Biden freezing up at a Hollywood fundraiser and looking bewildered as Barack Obama gently guided him offstage. The outlet spoke to Biden aides who claimed the president hadn’t frozen, he had simply “stopped to take in cheers and applause.” The AP agreed, concluding that Biden hadn’t frozen, he had simply “paused amid cheers and applause as he exited the stage.” The fact-check, published 10 days before the now infamous debate on CNN, was “part of the AP’s efforts to address widely shared false and misleading information that is circulation online.” Less than a month later, Democratic activist George Clooney confirmed that the Joe Biden he met at that Hollywood fundraiser “was the same man we all witnessed at the debate.” The doddering geezer who bragged about beating Medicare.

RIP, Meta Fact-Checkers. Don’t Let the Door Hit You on the Way Out.

What they’re saying: “When things go awry for us, shoot the Jews, it fixes everything.” That’s what one journalist, Samer Elzaenen of BBC Arabic, wrote on Facebook in 2022. He regularly appears on television to discuss his coverage of Israel’s war on Hamas “resistance fighters.” An active social media user, Elzaenen is clearly very passionate about the situation he covers. Years earlier, for example, the journalist mused whimsically: “My message to the Zionist Jews: We are going to take our land back, we love death for Allah’s sake the same way you love life. We shall burn you as Hitler did, but this time we won’t have a single one of you left.”

Would it be fair to say that all journalists love Hitler? Probably not. But it does make you wonder.

Lades and gentleman, the Democrats: The media’s favorite party is having a rough week. Kamala Harris made her long awaited return to the national spotlight this week. The failed candidate gave a paid speech to a group of Democratic activists in California, where she is widely expected to run for governor in 2026. Lurching in tone from loud, inauthentic outrage to the singsong whispers of an inebriated kindergarten teacher, Harris attacked Trump for waging war on “truth tellers” and for overlooking the fact that “courage is contagious.” She explained that since losing the election she had given much thought to a viral video of elephants at the San Diego Zoo, and consoled the attendees, who’d forked over as much as $50,000 for a ticket, with her deeply considered rhetoric. “I am not here tonight to offer all the answers, but I am here to say this: You are not alone, and we are all in this together,” she said, inspiringly.

For reasons that defy explanation, a former Harris adviser requested (and was granted by NBC News) anonymity to speak candidly about why the American people really need to hear from Kamala Harris right now. “There is a clamoring for her voice right now,” the former aide said. “No one can better prosecute the case while inspiring a call to action than the former vice president.”

Fact check: No one has ever clamored for Kamala’s voice. Almost anyone can do it better. Even most Democrats would agree. The efforts to cover up Biden’s obvious decline were motivated in no small part by party leaders who were afraid of getting stuck with Harris as the nominee. Nancy Pelosi didn’t like Harris at all, which is why she was so unnerved by Biden’s disastrous performance at the debate. Her first thought was, “Oh my God, it’s going to be her,” according to Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes in Fight: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House. Meanwhile, Barack Obama, had “deep misgivings” about the VP and favored a “mini-primary” that would “kneecap Harris” because he was sure she would lose.

By the numbers: Trump’s popularity has a taken a hit in recent weeks, but a recent CNN poll found that he’s still beating Harris—45 percent to 43 percent—on the question of who would be doing a better job as president right now.

DEI for white dudes: For reasons that also defy explanation, Tim Walz keeps reminding people that Tim Walz exists and is very annoying. This week he touted his ability to connect with working-class white men, a group Democrats lost by double digits, during an event at Harvard, bastion of the working class. “I was on the ticket, quite honestly, you know, because I could code talk to white guys watching football, fixing their truck, doing that,” Walz said. “I could put them at ease. I was the permission structure to say, ‘Look, you can do this and vote for this.'” In addition to using terms such as “code talk” and “permission structure” while chatting with Ivy League students, Walz has inspired working-class white men by lying about his military service and by using common NFL terms such as “run a mean pick 6.”

Hogging the spotlight: David Hogg, the obnoxious Harvard grad, was elected vice chair of the DNC earlier this year despite vowing never to run for office. “We have enough straight white men in power” he wrote in 2022. “It’d be nice to see some people who actually look like our country and not privilege.” People like Kalyn Free, the Native American activist Hogg defeated in the race for vice chair. She filed a complaint alleging that the “fatally flawed election” had “discriminated against three women of color candidates” in violation of the DNC charter. The committee has agreed to consider Free’s challenge at a virtual meeting later this month. Democrats are already annoyed with Hogg over his pledge to spend $20 million against incumbents he deems insufficiently radical. A notorious history buff, Hogg has expressed admiration for “the founders of the gun violence prevention movement started centuries ago by almost entirely black, brown and indigenous lgbtq women and non binary people that never got on the news or in most history books.”

What’s next: Joe Biden will appear on The View next week for his first television interview since leaving office. His last appearance on the show was in September 2024, when Biden insisted he would have beaten Trump. He also touted his record of providing “so many opportunities for people to correct their lives [incomprehensible], get things back in shape, and, but it’s just, it’s just simply, I mean, the idea, anyway.”

Photo of the week: CNN pundit Brain Stelter looks disheveled with his shirt untucked (and excessively unbuttoned) as he waddles aboard an Amtrak train without shoes following a heavy weekend of partying to celebrate the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, aka “Nerd Prom,” courtesy of our exclusive Free Beacon report. Stelter, who has repeatedly attacked Donald Trump for breaking “rules” and violating “norms,” was in flagrant violation of Amtrak policy, which clearly states that “passengers are required to wear shoes at all times while moving around the train.” Many have argued that Stelter should be imprisoned in El Salvador for his egregious disregard for basic human decency, the sartorial equivalent of violence. At the very least, his behavior is a severe setback to media apologists who claim journalists are not the “enemy of the people.”

Column: Is Oklahoma In Danger of ‘Satanic School’?

May 2, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Newsbusters

The Supreme Court heard arguments on April 30 on whether a Catholic school in Oklahoma named for St. Isidore the Farmer can be the first charter school with a religious foundation. It’s the latest case to alarm the media about the so-called “separation of church and state.”

New York Times legal reporter Adam Liptak cited a study finding that since Chief Justice John Roberts joined the court in 2005, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of religious people and groups over 83 percent of the time, compared with about 50 percent of the time for other courts since 1953. “In most of these cases, the winning religion was a mainstream Christian organization, whereas in the past pro-religion outcomes more frequently favored minority or marginal religious organizations,” two professors concluded.

This underlines how the Left fears “mainstream Christians” are going to ruin public education. On CBS Evening News, Oklahoma’s Republican Attorney General Gentner Drummond was so aggressive about touting a “slippery slope” of allowing Christians to have charter schools, he claimed it would open the door to “Satanic School” and “Wiccan School.”

In reality, many public school teachers today preach the polar opposite of “mainstream Christian” values, but that’s never something that liberal reporters think should be separate from the state. Take a look at the LGBTQ-pushing teachers sporting purple hair featured on “Libs of Tik Tok.” You can put up rainbow flags on the wall, but you can’t put up a cross. You can’t “establish” religion, but you can establish its godless opposite.

A week earlier, when the high court took up Maryland’s Montgomery County removing any parental choice in opting out students during discussions of illustrated children’s books like Pride Puppy and Uncle Bobby’s [Gay] Wedding. Liptak found two professors who argued “The First Amendment does not shield public school students from the mere exposure to ideas that conflict with their personal views, whether secular or religious.”

How does Liptak reconcile these two arguments about public schools? It would seem that introducing Catholic views is a dangerous intrusion, but introducing the LGBTQ advocacy is merely “inclusion.” If a religious parent showed up in the grade-school classroom to add a little balance to the discussion, they wouldn’t welcome that as “the mere exposure of ideas” some find disagreeable.

At least reporters can clearly label the two sides of this debate. On NBC Nightly News, legal reporter Laura Jarrett (daughter of Obama’s White House chief of staff Valerie Jarrett) touted the views of Oklahoma’s Erin Brewer, as just a “mom of two teens.” Brewer argued “For the government to choose a particular religion to force us as taxpayers to fund it or to force us as students to study those tenets, that’s un-American.” Jarrett didn’t tell viewers that Brewer was a losing Democrat candidate for the Oklahoma state senate in 2024.

Brewer, like many liberal journalists, decries the spread of “Christian nationalism” and campaigned against Oklahoma superintendent of schools Ryan Walters, who has touted bringing the Bible back into public schools.

Secular reporters often betray that their minds meld with Ron Reagan Jr. and the Freedom From Religion Foundation. “Freedom” is about keeping religion out of the public square, while the opposing view gets untrammeled promotion. “Freedom” also somehow means preventing parents from opting out on the propaganda, and calling that a lesson in “civility and respect.” That’s Orwellian.

BREAKING: Trump Signs Executive Order to End Tax Money for ‘Radical, Woke’ PBS and NPR

May 2, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Newsbusters

Late on Thursday night, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to cut taxpayer funds to PBS and NPR through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. The text was posted on the Trump team’s “Rapid Response 47” account on X.

It said: “@POTUS just signed an executive order ENDING the taxpayer subsidization of NPR and PBS — which receive millions from taxpayers to spread radical, woke propaganda disguised as ‘news.’”

The executive order includes this argument:

Unlike in 1967, when the CPB was established, today the media landscape is filled with abundant, diverse, and innovative news options. Government funding of news media in this environment is not only outdated and unnecessary but corrosive to the appearance of journalistic independence.

At the very least, Americans have the right to expect that if their tax dollars fund public broadcasting at all, they fund only fair, accurate, unbiased, and nonpartisan news coverage.

Since PBS and NPR are funded by all the American people, it should reflect the viewpoints of the people, and instead, after Trump was re-elected, both networks have doubled down in their anti-Trump animus. This was the top of the NPR home page on Thursday morning:

PBS News Hour marked the first 100 days of Trump with White House correspondent Laura Barron-Lopez quoting federal judges slamming Trump for a “path of perfect lawlessness” and bringing in leftist historian Mark Updegrove to proclaim “Donald Trump campaigned on the notion of making America great again. We have seen him tear down much of what has made America great to this point.”

Earlier this week, the CPB sued Trump over his move to fire three members of its five-person board that were Democrats appointed by President Biden.

The Trump administration has been working to defund the U.S. Agency for Global Media, including Voice of America and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, which were founded to provide unbiased broadcast news coverage for people inside totalitarian regimes, but now sound more like NPR. You can tell, because liberal media outlets have presented them as journalistic heroes. Federal judges have ruled against some of these efforts, finding that funds were already appropriated by Congress.

The White House was expected to send a request to Congress this week that they rescind forward funding for the CPB, which has been given $535 million a year to provide a taxpayer-funded TV and radio equivalent to MSNBC.

The order demands an end of their taxpayer funding not just through CPB, but through :all executive departments and agencies,” since public broadcasting entities have received grants through the Department of Education, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and other federal sources.

New Jersey Rep. Mikie Sherrill Sees Assets Soar While Serving in Congress

May 2, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Washington Free Beacon

She’s the queen of Capitol gains.

New Jersey congresswoman Mikie Sherrill (D.) has banked millions of dollars since coming to Congress in 2019, a review of her financial disclosures by the Washington Free Beacon shows.

In her 2019 financial disclosures, Sherrill reported assets totaling between $733,209 and $4,321,000. By 2024, those figures had ballooned to between $4,840,076 and $13,975,000. The wide swing of ranges comes because federal financial disclosure forms require each asset to be listed as between a range of values. That requirement means that Sherrill, in theory, could have only seen an asset increase of roughly $500,000, but that possibility is unlikely. Using the average of the two ranges would place Sherrill’s asset increase at just under $7 million.

Members of the House of Representatives make an annual salary of $174,000, and the meteoric rise of Sherrill’s net worth comes as a result of the exemplary performance of her stock portfolio.

Though it remains controversial, members of Congress are allowed to trade stocks as long as all transactions are assiduously reported within 30 days under the rules of the 2012 STOCK Act. Sherrill is one of the chamber’s more prolific traders, with hundreds listed on her reports since her election. In December, she paid a $400 fine after failing to disclose up to $350,000 in stock sales.

Most eyebrow-raising are the hundreds of trades Sherrill made during the coronavirus pandemic. As a member of Congress sitting on the House Armed Services Committee, she had access to information surrounding the unfolding pandemic not available to the general public.

In a flurry of purchases on Feb. 21, 2020, Sherrill bought into a number of funds that went on to post handsome profits, according to data from Nasdaq. That month she purchased up to $250,000 of iShares Expanded Tech-Software Sector ETF, which has risen 62.11 percent since then. Another purchase of up to $250,000 in Nuveen ESG Large-Cap Growth ETF is up 60.03 percent since Sherrill’s purchase. A third acquisition of up to $250,000 in SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 Growth ETF is up 66.2 percent. A fourth purchase of up to $250,000 to Fidelity Dividend ETF for Rising Rates is up a comparatively modest 26.8 percent.

The day before, Sherrill unloaded stock in 112 individual companies, which raised eyebrows at the time from the New Jersey Globe. Team Sherrill insisted in April 2020 that the congresswoman’s move away from individual stocks had been made before the pandemic and before receiving any briefings on it. But the buying and selling kept going throughout the year, as the pandemic raged, with dozens more trades happening on July 17, records show.

Both tranches of sales came at the end of scheduled House recesses, just before the House reconvened for voting sessions, according to a 2020 House congressional calendar.

Sherrill is married to Jason Hedberg, a top official at UBS, where he serves as Head of Americas Equity Derivatives Flow, overseeing how the bank handles complex financial contracts which are tied to the stock market.

Sherrill and Hedberg currently reside in a seven-bedroom, five-bathroom mansion in Montclair, N.J. The 19th century empire Victorian is “one of the most extraordinary homes in Montclair,” a local blog gushed in 2019. Sitting on more than an acre of land, the manse features a sports court, cathedral-style ceilings, and weeping cherry trees, among other accoutrements.

A mortgage for the estate was provided by UBS, records show.

Sherrill has cosponsored legislation that would ban members from trading individual stocks, something her office said she no longer does.

“Mikie’s life has been about public service and she has been more than clear about her commitment to transparency and accountability in government,” said her spokeswoman, Carly Jones.

House members benefiting from stock trades has long been a thorny issue, most famously among former House speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif). The octogenarian progressive and her husband Paul Pelosi, also a financial professional, have repeatedly profited handsomely from exquisitely timed market moves, like a $3 million sale of Google stock just weeks before the Department of Justice launched an antitrust probe.

In November, Sherrill announced plans to run for governor of New Jersey. She is currently locked in a six-way Democratic primary for the state’s top job.
