INVESTIGATIONS

David Brooks says Trump buried virtue. He’s ignoring the real killer

May 1, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, The Blaze

New York Times columnist David Brooks’ recent essay in the Atlantic mourned the corrosion of America’s moral fabric. Naturally, Donald Trump is to blame.

Trump’s “narcissistic nihilism,” Brooks argues, is driven by a single philosophy: “Morality is for suckers.” Christian virtues are for the weak. Nietzschean pagan values of power, courage, and glory are for winners. And although many in Trump’s administration “have crosses on their chest,” they harbor “Nietzsche in their heart.” This “deadly cocktail” has transformed America into an entity unrecognizable from the “force for tremendous good” that, according to Brooks, was laid in its coffin on January 20, 2025.

Trump’s appeal to many wasn’t that he embodied virtue. Rather, it was that he promised to protect what remained of the institutions that made virtue possible.

Brooks isn’t the first to hurl such accusations against the president, though, admittedly, he does so in a manner that tickles my philosophical fancy. America’s moral decline has been an issue of concern long before Trump took office.

But is Trump — or any single political leader — really to blame?

Politics follows culture

Like many veterans of the political class, Brooks puts too much faith in institutions. Both parties cling to the comforting illusion that culture flows downstream from politics. Spend enough time inside the D.C. bubble, and even sincere conservatives start to believe that electing the “right” people or passing the “right” laws can do more than govern — that politics can redeem souls from moral collapse.

But pretending policy carries no moral weight is equally foolish. Ask anyone who’s lived under a truly corrupt regime. Still, culture shapes politics more than Washington bureaucrats care to admit.

Diagnosing America’s cultural decline requires more than scolding a single president or passing a bill. It means examining the social landscape that produced such politics in the first place. To understand Washington, we must first look to the soul of the voters who send their leaders there.

Yes, speaking of a national “soul” risks painting in broad strokes at the expense of nuance. Even Brooks would likely concede this much. Americans are desperately reaching for moral touchstones that the culture once upheld. Those touchstones — faith, family, tradition — have been torn down by the very ideologues Trump was elected to oppose.

Up from disillusionment

Brooks concedes a sliver of the truth, admitting that the left has built “a stifling orthodoxy that stamped out dissent.” But his diagnosis barely touches the depth of America’s moral confusion.

More than 40 years ago, Alasdair MacIntyre warned in “After Virtue” that modern society had gutted the moral framework needed to make moral language coherent. Today, we still invoke that language — justice, dignity, meaning — but with no shared foundation beneath it. Efforts to rebuild those foundations now face open hostility.

When public figures like Jordan Peterson face censure for reviving moral guidance once common in homes, churches, and civic life, it reveals something darker. Americans have lost access to the moral raw materials required to build a meaningful life.

Trump’s appeal never rested on personal virtue. It rested on his willingness to defend the institutions that make virtue possible. For millions of voters, he stood as a bulwark against moral collapse — not a saint but a protector of sacred ground. That’s what won him the loyalty of Americans disillusioned by the left’s assault on the moral structures they once relied upon.

The government’s job isn’t to redeem souls. It’s to safeguard the conditions under which people can pursue goodness, truth, and a flourishing life. That means defending the cultural space where moral frameworks can take root — and keeping vandals from tearing it apart.

Brooks calls this “narcissistic nihilism.” In reality, it’s something far rarer: hope — the hope that virtue can still grow in the soil that remains.

Dimming the sun? Air Force whistleblower breaks down chemtrail military cover-up

May 1, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, The Blaze

If you say the word “chemtrails” to any government-trusting American citizen, you’ll be painted as a nutty right-wing conspiracy theorist.

However, there’s good news for those who’ve been sounding the alarm. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has recently confirmed the use of chemtrails over America — and so has an Air Force whistleblower and exposure scientist, Kristen Meghan, who’s been making claims about a secret government chemtrail program for over a decade.

Meghan has worked in occupational environmental safety and health as a senior industrial hygienist and an exposure scientist for 23 years. For nine of those years, she worked on active duty in the Air Force in a field called bioenvironmental engineering.

“So, for people to understand, it’s like the DOD’s equivalent of OSHA, EPA, DOT,” Meghan tells Sara Gonzales on “Sara Gonzales Unfiltered.”

When her brother showed her a documentary on chemtrails, Meghan recalls believing it was “the most ridiculous thing” she’d ever heard.

“In my journey of trying to debunk it and basically tell everyone they’re ridiculous, I realized not only is it real, but it’s coming right through my office,” she explains. “A lot of people that have industrial jobs are familiar with something called a safety data sheet.”

“Basically, there’s certain things that are on those sheets, and it has to have packing group information. Like, if you’re shipping it, is it double-contained, all these things. It was missing so much information, and I always say I’m never going to jail for anybody,” she continues.

“Then later, it hits me,” she says. “These same things that are coming in, like powdered oxide form — these heavy metals are the same metals that people are claiming.”

Before telling anyone, she did tests on her own.

“I started doing soil sampling, air sampling, different types of techniques, and … I finally went to my supervisors and was like, ‘Is this this?’” she tells Gonzales.

“There’s things that I can’t tell you, but I’m telling you the aircraft was being retrofitted, and that is the earth-shattering moment,” Meghan adds.

In 2008, just a few days prior to telling her supervisors, Meghan had won noncommissioned officer of the quarter for her exemplary performance. Right after, she began being treated differently.

“They threw the, ‘Are you okay?’ You know, ‘You’re looking a little depressed. I can put you on a 120-day mental hold. Who would watch your daughter?’” she recalls. “I was actually supposed to re-enlist, and without any warning, with about 10 days left, I was out the door. No job.”

“It scared my higher-ups, and I immediately got an attorney, got whistleblower protection, and I was very vocal for a long time,” she continues, noting that they’ve “admitted” why they do this.

“It’s to dim the sun because of global warming,” she says, adding, “but I wonder, though, if a lot of people that are behind this actually believe in global warming.”

VIDEO: Stephen Miller Spits FIRE at Press Conference, Gives Incredible Case Against Amazon for “Clear Attempt to Try to Undermine Trade Negotiations” and Letting China Steal Intellectual Property

May 1, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: Gateway Pundit, INVESTIGATIONS

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller was on fire during a press conference Thursday morning, slamming Amazon for a proposed plan to display tariff costs on their website as well as shilling for liberal states and Communist China.

Miller joined White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt in the briefing room on Thursday to discuss the Trump administration’s return to common sense in the first 100 days.

At one point, the Gateway Pundit reported, he completely demolished the entire press corps in an epic five-minute condemnation of the media’s shilling for illegal aliens when asked a question about deported MS-13 terrorist Kilmar Garcia Abreago.

MUST SEE: Stephen Miller GOES OFF in Explosive Five-Minute-Long Rebuke of the Fake News Media for Shilling for Terrorists and Failing Death and Destruction Caused by Biden’s Illegals (VIDEO)

In another instance, he gave a masterclass on Amazon’s unfair practices to “undermine” trade negotiations with China.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Amazon backtracked on a proposal to display the cost of tariffs on Chinese goods after President Trump called Bezos.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt moved the stock market with a scathing rebuke of Amazon and a call for Americans to buy American goods. “This is a hostile and political act by Amazon,” Leavitt said, attacking the retail giant for not doing this “when the Biden administration hiked inflation to the highest level in 40 years.” She then described the move as “not a surprise,” spotlighting Amazon’s new partnership with “a Chinese propaganda arm.”

Amazon’s share price fell 2% following Leavitt’s comments, and the retail giant then downplayed its plan, issuing a statement claiming that the consideration was only in place for the Amazon Haul store, but not the main retail website. Amazon later said they “never approved” a plan, and it’s “not going to happen.”

The President told reporters on Tuesday that Bezos “did the right thing” after their phone call and Leavitt’s comments, where she slammed the move as a “hostile and political act.”

When a reporter gave him an attempted gocha question regarding the claims of politicization by Amazon, Miller responded with fire, pointing out the clear hypocrisy.

“Of all the different things that go into a theoretical price input, for example, does Amazon list the cost of California’s regulations on everything made in California?” he challenged the reporter. “Anything you make in California, you have a massive price increase because of the health care regulations that are unworkable in that state, because of the labor regulations that are unworkable in that state, because of the subsidies that go to legal aliens in that state, because of all the bureaucracy. So, anything being produced in California has a massive built-in price hike.”

Still, Amazon doesn’t highlight how liberal policies contribute to the increased cost of California goods.

He took it a step further and called Amazon out for selling goods from China that are cheaply made rip-offs of American goods, which he called the “most significant” issue with the company. Previously, Leavitt noted that Amazon’s consideration of displaying tariff costs is “not a surprise,” given Amazon’s new partnership with “a Chinese propaganda arm.”

WATCH:

Reporter: This administration has stressed the need for price transparency for things like health care bills and concert tickets. So why is it a political and hostile act for Amazon to display price transparency on consumer goods?

Miller: Well, I think that’s the wrong way of looking at it, which is why would— first of all, that proposal is down now, but why would Amazon, of all the different things that go into a theoretical price input, for example, does Amazon list the cost of California’s regulations on everything made in California?

Anything you make in California, you have a massive price increase because of the health care regulations that are unworkable in that state, because of the labor regulations that are unworkable in that state, because of the subsidies that go to legal aliens in that state, because of all the bureaucracy.

So, anything being produced in California has a massive built in price hike. So, why wouldn’t Amazon have a list saying if you purchase it in California, instead of in Alabama, this is the premium that you pay. This was a clear intent by whoever proposed it originally—I don’t know, because Amazon says they were never going to do it—to try to undermine our trade negotiations with China.

I’ll make another important point of this, which is that there’s been many complaints about the fact that there are sold on Amazon that are actually rip offs of American products that are then stolen by China, and then they take our IP, and they put them into products and try to undersell our manufacturers.

So, to the extent that we are engaged in labeling issues on Amazon, I would say that would be the most significant one to fix, is making sure we’re not undercutting American consumers.

Rose Unplugged and Dr. Malone

Dr. Malone joined Rose Unplugged to discuss food dyes and other food additives linked to cancer.

Another step forward in the “Make America Healthy Again” initiative is the ban on several chemical food dyes linked to cancer and childhood ADHD. These dyes pose serious health risks — and you might be shocked to learn which everyday foods contain them – and the history of food dye going back to the early 1900s.

Dr. Malone gives us a look behind the scenes to examine and understand why this took so long. The answers are complicated, but some general trends are beginning to come into focus.

NBC Celebrates With Vietnamese Communists, 50 Years After Fall of Saigon, End of War

May 1, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Newsbusters

Days after its sister newscast NBC Nightly News bemoaned tariffs hitting Chinese slave labor-linked shopping apps Temu and Shein, NBC’s Today sent Beijing-based correspondent Janis Mackey Frayer to gallivant around Vietnam for the communist regime’s propaganda parade marking the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War, a shameful scar on the country that’d be repeated in 2021 with Afghanistan.

The networks have done this in the past, but there was no mention of the millions dead at the hands communist dictator Ho Chi Minh — either in camps, executions, or while at sea trying to flee — after the U.S. evacuated remaining forces and personnel when the North Vietnamese army crashed through the gates of the South Vietnamese presidential palace on April 30, 1975.

Instead, it was mostly hunky dory. Co-host Craig Melvin had the first of two teases: “Coming up on a very busy Wednesday morning, we’re going to look back on the fall of Saigon and the end of the Vietnam War some 50 years later. A live report from Ho Chi Minh City just ahead.”

Co-host Savannah Guthrie had the other, saying in-between a soundbite from a 1975 news report: “Plus, 50 years later, we look back at the fall of Saigon…The historic milestone marking the end of the Vietnam War, and we are there live.”

Later, Melvin tossed to Frayer like this was something to celebrate: “Meanwhile this morning, Vietnam is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the end of the war and they’re celebrating with a military parade and a focus on a peaceful future. The fall of Saigon marked the end of a Vietnam that was divided between the Communist north and U.S.-allied south.”

Frayer kept the triumphant mood going:

It was here on April 30, 1975 that North Vietnamese and Viet Cong troops rolled into this city as the last Americans were being air-lifted out and the Vietnam war came to an end. 50 years after the fall of Saigon, a victory parade where spectators waited overnight to witness history. Every year, Liberation Day — as it’s called here — is marked with celebration and this is their biggest yet to commemorate not only the communists’ victory in Vietnam, but America’s defeat. The events included helicopters and jets over the palace where, 50 years ago, a tank smashing the gate ended the war that killed millions of Vietnamese and 50,000 U.S. troops. For the U.S., the fighting came down to a last desperate airlift from the U.S. Embassy here.

She then met with a South Vietnamese Army veteran who doubled as a U.S. interpreter, saying he “wasn’t able to escape” after the war and “now blind.” No word on why he’s blind or what his life was like in the 50 years since!

The only thing we did learn? That he requested Frayer and the NBC crew bring him a can of Coca-Cola because he had not had one in 40 years.

Once she admitted the country is “still changing” since “most of the country’s population born after the fighting stopped,” Frayer saved the only negative comments for….the United States of America:

FRAYER: After serving here in the 1970s, reconciliation lured U.S. veteran Matthew Keenan to come back. He volunteers at a center for victims of Agent Orange, a chemical sprayed by U.S. forces here that he believes caused his own cancer.

MATTHEW KEENAN: They cannot explain why they have a problem they can’t explain about toxic chemicals. I can, and I do that for them.

Only towards the end did Frayer arrive at a more apt view: “While old wounds still linger, today Vietnam and Americans here are no longer enemies. The war pushing further into history.”

Back live, she gushed that “[t]here were several U.S. veterans who were are the parade today, as well as journalists who covered the war back in the day and there were U.S. diplomats spotted on this stage” despite the Trump administration’s ask they not go.

Whether it was the AP falsely claiming Ho Chi Minh was inspired by Thomas Jefferson in leading Vietnam (with an iron fist), taxpayer-funded NPR touting a Time magazine war correspondent being a communist spy, the broadcast networks fawning over Barack Obama’s 2016 visit, or the endless lionizing of the era’s (liberal) legacy journalists (like here and here), the liberal media will always have a soft spot for the war that tore America apart.

CNN’s Bill Weir RIPS Trump’s ‘All-Out Assault on Science,’ Earth Is a ‘Burning Theater’

May 1, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Newsbusters

On Tuesday afternoon, CNN climate correspondent Bill Weir declared that the Donald Trump administration is in an “all-out assault on science,” and compared global warming to a burning theater that the administration is forcing people to stay inside. His assessment came during a segment about the administration firing researchers who were working on a regular report on the climate.

At the top of the 3:00 p.m. hour of CNN News Central, co-host Boris Sanchez teased: “And also, scientists agree that climate change is a threat, but the government under President Trump may soon know far less about it. This is after the White House dismisses all the researchers working on a key new report.”

About 3:33 p.m., Sanchez returned to the story and informed viewers of the firing of scientists in charge of putting together the National Climate Assessment report, which is due every five years. Weir noted that a law was passed in 2000 requiring that the report be done, and then recalled:

In 2018, it was a really blunt assessment and with a prediction that 10 percent of the global economy could disappear by the end of the century as a result of an overheating Earth — too much fossil fuel pollution. The Trump administration then buried it. They released it on Black Friday — the shopping day after Thanksgiving.

After noting that there was a report released in 2023, he added:

…this next one, which is supposed to come out in 2028, was just killed in the cradle. Like, they’re working on it right now, and it is a law that they have to deliver something. So the fear is that they’re just going to deliver pseudoscience and ideology — the kind of stuff we’re seeing in all these environmental and climate-related press releases — executive orders coming out of the White House right now. But this is yet another blow, Boris, in the first 100 days of just an all-out assault on science across every agency. Anything with a hint of climate change attached to it or even ground-level pollution

Which side of this debate — which the Left refuses to acknowledge as a debate — has been delivering “pseudoscience and ideology”? Way back in 1992, CNN ran a scare special called The People Bomb saying the world was overpopulated, and they wouldn’t allow any air time to scientists who disagreed with their doom-saying (and anti-humanitarian) viewpoint.

As he concluded his analysis, Weir took a hyperbolic shot at the Trump administration:

So, right now, everybody is hurting on the front of this story, and it remains to be seen what becomes of this assessment, the people working on it. If they can do one, do they release it to the public? Who knows? But, once again, really hiding the science, telling people essentially to stay seated in a burning theater and removing the exit signs as well.

Wrapping up, Sanchez echoed him: “Staying seated in a burning theater — what a way to put it. Bill Weir, thanks so much for the reporting. Appreciate it.”

Transcript follows:

CNN News Central

April 29, 2024

3:00 p.m. Eastern

BORIS SANCHEZ:  And also, scientists agree that climate change is a threat, but the government under President Trump may soon know far less about it. This is after the White House dismisses all the researchers working on a key new report.

(…)

3:33 p.m.

SANCHEZ: President Trump marked the end of his 100 days — his first 100 days of his second term by firing hundreds of people in charge of a critical report on how climate change is affecting the country. CNN obtained an email sent last night confirming the dismissal of scientists and authors tasked with putting together the National Climate Assessment. Scientists say the report is a valuable resource for officials dealing with extreme weather events at the regional, state and local levels. Let’s get more from CNN chief climate correspondent Bill Weir. So, Bill, what is the goal here by eliminating these scientists?

BILL WEIR, CNN CHIEF CLIMATE CORRESPONDENT: Well, Bill, it’s to eliminate the science that is the underpinning of many lawsuits — that could be a main sort of motive. We saw that in the Project 2025 sort of layout there. But, just to set some perspective here, in 2000, Congress passed a law that, every few years, the best Earth scientists in the country — about 400 of them — would put together a comprehensive assessment that would inform local governments, states, even private industries, about what’s happening when the — to the country — water supplies, energy supplies, to farms and fisheries — every aspects of the economy, and let them know, just no holds barred, so we could better prepare.

I still remember this — I was in Paradise, California, covering that epic wildfire there, and nobody really paid attention. In 2023, under Biden, a new one came out, but this next one, which is supposed to come out in 2028, was just killed in the cradle.

Anything with a hint of climate change attached to it or even ground-level pollution — PFAs, plastics, these sorts of things.

Lee Zeldin just announced they’re going to tackle microplastics, these sorts — but with no real policy plan in place. Meanwhile, laying off the best and brightest scientists really in the world at a time is creating, as you can imagine, incredible angst in this space right now. But, at the same time,  the price of oil is about 50 bucks a barrel, which is a huge money loser for all the oil executives that Donald Trump promised to help with deregulation.

SANCHEZ: Staying seated in a burning theater — what a way to put it. Bill Weir, thanks so much for the reporting. Appreciate it.

AWESOME: Former Democrat Batya Ungar-Sargon Absolutely LIGHTS UP Indian-Born Democrat Congressman Pushing to Impeach President Trump (VIDEO)

May 1, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: Gateway Pundit, INVESTIGATIONS

Credit: Piers Morgan Uncensored

The Michigan congressman who is leading the push to impeach President Trump got absolutely destroyed yesterday by a former member of his party.

As The Gateway Pundit reported on Monday, Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI), a native of India, flew back into DC after yet another unwarranted congressional vacation and decided to file a whopping SEVEN articles of impeachment against President Trump. And unsurprisingly, the catalyst for Thanedar’s filing of articles of impeachment was Trump daring to deport Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a dangerous MS-13 gangster and alleged wife-beater.

“Trump has already done real damage to our democracy,” Thanedar whined. “But defying a unanimous 9-0 Supreme Court ruling? That has to be the final straw.”

“The court said the wrongfully deported Kilmar Garcia must be allowed to return and receive due process,” he continued. “Trump ignored it. He ignored the Constitution, he ignored the very checks and balances that keep our democracy intact.”

Thanedar introduced a whopping SEVEN articles of impeachment against Trump, including for Obstruction of justice and abuse of executive powers. As long as Republicans control the House, his resolution will go nowhere.

On Wednesday, former Democrat Batya Ungar-Sargon got a chance to confront Thanedar for his impeachment push on Pier Morgan’s podcast and did not disappoint. She first debunked the lies surrounding the Garcia case, the crux of Thanedar’s impeachment push.

“Kilmar Garcia did not have an order not to deport him; he had an order not to deport him to El Salvador, so he should have been deported to another country she said. “This person is a wife-beater and a gangbanger and a human trafficker.”We were let down as Americans because he got a lot of due process, and we just didn’t follow through because the immigration courts are deeply flawed.”

Ungar-Sargon then slammed the students supposedly arrested for criticizing Israel, explaining that they belonged to a group that 100% supported Hamas’s total destruction of the Jewish nation. “That is a violation of a green card,” she pointed out.

Ungar-Sargon then turned her attention to Thanadar, setting him ablaze for pushing Trump’s impeachment.

“There is no constitutional crisis. This congressman seems to think that having bad polling numbers is an impeachable offense…It is utterly laughable!” she exclaimed. And it’s because the Democrats have no agenda!”

WATCH:

The “Maryland man,” the U.S. citizen babies, the ones who only “criticized Israel”—the immigration hysteria is hoaxes all the way down. Now Democrats are actually trying to impeach Trump 100 days in for doing what America asked for. It’s the American people they are impeaching. pic.twitter.com/FiNZZm9LY8

— Batya Ungar-Sargon (@bungarsargon) May 1, 2025

Ungar-Sargon went on to tell Thanadar she knows exactly why he and his fellow leftists want Trump gone.

“Donald Trump is running to the left of them on economics, and to the left of them on fighting wars,” she said. “He’s a social moderate; he’s not even a conservative.”

“There is not a single value the Democrats hold that they are not willing to immediately abandon if Donald Trump starts to defend it,” She continued. “It was the Democrats who thought we had to control the border, to protect working-class wages. Now all you see is Democrats pushing free trade…You see Democrats embracing Chinese propaganda because it is merely against Trump.”

At one point, Thanadar tried to interrupt, but Ungar-Sargon quickly shut him down. She then closed with a warning to the congressman.

“And congressman, I’m sorry, but the UAW and the Teamsters have both endorsed the tariffs,” she said. “You are in a lot of trouble in Michigan.”

NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya speaks out on autism and COVID in new interview

May 1, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, The Blaze

Dr. Jay Bhattacharya has landed the coveted role as director of the National Institutes of Health, and those in the Make America Healthy Again movement couldn’t be happier, as getting to the root cause of our nation’s health problems is what Bhattacharya has been working toward his entire career.

“I want to fulfill the mandate that President Trump and Secretary Kennedy gave to me, which is to use the NIH to do the research so we can understand how to make America healthy,” he tells Jill Savage of “Blaze News Tonight.”

And one of the first steps Bhattacharya is taking is launching a major initiative where scientists across the country will be compelled to actually answer the question of why autism has risen so significantly in recent years.

“The problem with autism is that — first, the rise, when you look back, is just meteoric,” Bhattacharya tells Savage.

However, to question the cause of autism or to focus on its rise coincides with a disbelief in vaccines or being “anti-science.”

“Somehow, you’re automatically anti-vaccine if you just notice the fact that there are so many more autistic kids than there were when I was a kid. And you put that together, and what you have is millions of families that don’t have an answer to this question,” he explains.

In the coming months, Bhattacharya tells Savage that Americans can expect to see tons of resources thrown at this problem.

“In just a few months, we’ll have a dozen or more research teams, where we chose them competitively from lots of research teams across the country,” he says. “It’ll be a range of methods, so, you know, basic science lab work to epidemiology to you name it, and with no holds barred as to hypothesis.”

As Dr. Bhattacharya was one of the lone voices that was willing to speak out against the federal government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, it seems that we’re in good hands.

“The rest of the industry was saying, ‘No, you’re wrong,’ and, ‘Don’t say the things that you’re saying,’” Savage comments.

“It was a shocking experience for me. I thought scientists had academic freedom, and I’ve learned differently. In fact, probably the biggest problem during COVID was that. Like normally, if you can’t have free speech, then you can’t have science, is what I learned. And I think that’s why we had such bad outcomes with COVID,” he tells Savage.

“We suppressed speech of scientists. The Biden administration suppressed speech of normal Americans who questioned the school closures, the lockdowns, and all the policies that didn’t actually protect anybody, that yet ended up harming so many people at scale,” he continues.

“That’s actually another one of my priorities. I want to restore free speech in science,” he adds.

Federal judge rules Trump cannot use Alien Enemies Act to deport Tren de Aragua terrorists: ‘Unlawful’

May 1, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, The Blaze

President Donald Trump issued a proclamation on March 15 invoking the Alien Enemies Act and declaring that Tren de Aragua is “a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization” aligned with the Venezuelan Maduro regime that “is perpetrating, attempting, and threatening an invasion or predatory incursion against the territory of the United States.”

“I proclaim that all Venezuelan citizens 14 years of age or older who are members of TdA, are within the United States, and are not actually naturalized or lawful permanent residents of the United States are liable to be apprehended, restrained, secured, and removed as Alien Enemies,” added Trump.

A federal judge ruled Thursday that President Donald Trump’s invocation of the AEA through the proclamation was “unlawful” and barred the Trump administration from using it against Venezuelan aliens in the court’s judicial district.

The administration deported at least 137 Venezuelan aliens under the law on March 15.

‘The Proclamation does not suggest that they have done so through an organized armed attack.’

While claiming at the outset that neither “the Court nor the parties question the Executive Branch’s authority and responsibility to enforce federal laws,” U.S. District Judge Fernando Rodriguez Jr. appears to have done just that.

The judge indicated that Trump’s March 15 proclamation satisfactorily placed responsibility for Tren de Aragua’s actions in the U.S. on the Venezuelan government — precluding the need to determine whether the terrorist gang represents a foreign nation or government. Rodriguez noted, however, that the activities of the terrorist gang inside the U.S. “do not fall within the plain, ordinary meaning of ‘invasion’ or ‘predatory incursion’ for the purposes of the AEA.”

While Tren de Aragua terrorists might have illegally entered the nation, “harmed lives in the United States and engage in crime, the Proclamation does not suggest that they have done so through an organized armed attack, or that Venezuela has threatened or attempted such an attack through TdA members,” wrote the judge.

Rodriguez concluded that “the historical record renders clear that the President’s invocation of the AEA through the Proclamation exceeds the scope of the statute and is contrary to the plain, ordinary meaning of the statute’s claims.”

While numerous courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, have blocked the Trump administration’s deportations under the AEA, Rodriguez is reportedly the first judge to have reached a final decision on the merits.

The American Civil Liberties Union, which brought the lawsuit with the ACLU of Texas to keep suspected foreign terrorists from being deported, celebrated the decision.

ACLU attorney Lee Gelernt said in a statement, “Congress never meant for this 18th-century wartime law to be used this way. This is a critically important decision that prevents more people from being sent to the notorious CECOT prison.”

Reuters indicated that neither the White House nor the Department of Justice responded to its requests for comment.

On Thursday, Rodriguez also allowed Venezuelans targeted for deportation under the AEA to proceed with a class-action lawsuit against the Trump administration, reported WFIN.com.

“The unusual circumstances of this case present a compelling justification to utilize a procedure equivalent to a class action authorized by Rule 23,” wrote Rodriguez.

The First 100 Days for the Trump-Hating Left

May 1, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Newsbusters

President Donald Trump’s approval declined after he announced broad tariffs not just on China but on trading partners who, in his opinion, take advantage of America with their tariffs on American goods. But how quickly those rooting for Trump’s failure forget the mood of the country during the Biden administration.

In September 2024, NBC News wrote: “Two in 3 voters say the country is on the ‘wrong track’ as voters weigh whether Vice President Kamala Harris or former President Donald Trump would be better able to change that less than two months from Election Day.” Not exactly a tough act to follow.

Critics call Trump 2.0 an “imperial” presidency careening toward a “constitutional crisis,” meaning Trump intends to ignore lower court rulings that thwart his agenda. Yet most sat silently when one of the Democrat stars, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-N.Y.,) demanded that President Joe Biden ignore a 2023 lower court ruling to ban the so-called abortion pill. AOC called the ruling a “mockery of our democracy and a mockery of our law.”

When the Supreme Court ruled the Biden student debt forgiveness program unconstitutional, Biden insisted the ruling left him undeterred. He said, “The Supreme Court tried to block me from relieving student debt. But they didn’t stop me.”

Trump has secured the southern border and is fulfilling his promise to deport the estimated 15 million illegal aliens — prioritizing violent criminals — intentionally admitted into the country by Biden. Former First Lady Michelle Obama recently fretted: “I worry for people of color all over this country. … And that makes me — that frightens me. It keeps me up at night.”

Michelle Obama must not have gotten much sleep during her husband’s administration, when even Democrats derisively referred to President Barack Obama as “deporter-in-chief.” In January 2024, PolitiFact wrote: “Under Trump, from fiscal year 2017 to fiscal year 2020, the Department of Homeland Security recorded 2 million deportations … During Obama’s first term, fiscal year 2009 to fiscal year 2012, there were 3.2 million deportations (removals and returns).”

Suddenly, Democrats are pro-“insurrection.” Democrat Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker recently called for “mass protests” against Trump: “It’s time to fight everywhere and all at once. Never before in my life have I called for mass protests, for mobilization, for disruption. But I am now.”

“Fight everywhere and all at once”? The governor will no doubt claim he means “fight” peacefully. But when Trump, on Jan. 6, 2021, urged his supporters to “fight like hell,” his critics described this as the equivalent of ordering his supporters to set the country on fire. Never mind Trump also said, “I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.”

Suddenly, “mocking” one’s disability isn’t such a bad thing after all. An August 2016 Bloomberg poll of likely voters found what most bothered them about then-candidate Trump was that he supposedly “mocked” a disabled reporter, something Trump has denied doing. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Trump supporter, has since 1984 been paralyzed from the waist down. Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) in March, at a California Human Rights campaign event, elicited laughter when she said: “Y’all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there. Come on now. And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot a– mess.” Crickets from most Democrats.

Polls show a majority of Americans support Trump’s border wall and a plurality support his goal of mass deportation. Democrats therefore find themselves thrashing about to decide on an effective anti-Trump attack strategy. What’s their message? Waste, fraud and abuse are to be protected? Illegal alien MS-13 gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia is the equivalent of a political prisoner? Teslas are bad — so much for climate change?

Democrats continue to claim that only the very rich stand to benefit from extending the Trump tax cuts. Biden in his first major speech since leaving office repeated the nonsense that Trump wants to “cut and gut” social security. So, there’s that.

If Trump is proven right on his tariff strategy and our trading partners cut deals that eventually turbocharge the economy, what’s left for the Democrats? Apart from mass suicide, there’s always the Trump’s a “racist/fascist/Nazi” card. It’s better than nothing.
