INVESTIGATIONS

From trauma to truth: How Florida’s surgeon general found courage to challenge the pandemic narrative

May 1, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, The Blaze

On a recent episode of “Back to the People,” Nicole Shanahan interviewed Dr. Joseph Ladapo — a Nigerian-American physician and health policy researcher currently serving as the surgeon general of Florida.

One of the subjects they discussed was Dr. Ladapo’s role during the pandemic. Unlike the great majority of doctors who championed masks, social distancing, and lockdowns, Dr. Ladapo was courageous enough to report the truth: “The government was doing it wrong.”

“You rose to national fame because of your early findings on the lockdowns. You studied the science around mask efficacy and mask mandates and school closures, and like Jay Bhattacharya, you came to the conclusion that the federal government had it wrong,” says Shanahan. “I still remember hearing about how Florida was going to reopen before any other state did, and that was really under your guidance and leadership.”

“Honestly, Governor DeSantis deserves all the credit,” says Dr. Ladapo.

However, his courage to speak the truth traces all the way back to a childhood tragedy.

“I was a victim of sexual abuse,” he tells Nicole.

He adds that it “stunted my emotional development — my ability to emotionally connect with other people.”

It wasn’t until adulthood when he met and fell in love with his wife that he was able to finally deal with the abuse in his past.

“Because my wife is so intuitive, she found a guy, a Navy SEAL named Christopher Maher. … And he’s very talented healer, and I ended up going to work with him … and it was the most transformative experience I could ever imagine,” says Dr. Ladapo.

“When you get rid of 95% of the garbage we carry around to protect ourselves, guess what? You have more access to your love, you have more access to courage, you have more access to virtue.”

Nicole is shocked and encouraged by Dr. Ladapo’s vulnerability.

“You generally don’t hear that level of honesty from people, especially people in official government roles,” she says. “You’re the surgeon general. You are literally the mouthpiece for health in your state, and to hear you use that position of power to talk about healing trauma and what comes from it and through it is so powerful.”

Dr. Ladapo’s story about his journey to well-being isn’t an isolated event, though. It’s a signal that the tides in this country are turning, especially as they relate to health.

“Think about if every person in a position of power … did that kind of work on themselves,” says Nicole.

“The world would look totally different — definitely for people in positions of power, but even for everyone because we are all powerful. We are all reflections of God’s love and God’s light and God’s consciousness,” says Dr. Ladapo.

ABC News Host Suggests Trump RIGGED 2024 Presidential Election

May 1, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Newsbusters

Just over a year ago, in April 2024, ABC News’s The View announced that they had “stopped asking” President Trump to be on the show and said they had banned election deniers. But what if the moderator of the show was an election denier? During Thursday’s opening segment, Whoopi Goldberg suggested that Trump had rigged the 2024 presidential election.

Bitter about Trump posting on social media bragging about investors predicting he would win the election, and trying to gaslight about the Biden economy, Goldberg scolded Trump and warned him to stop lest someone poke around and discover insider knowledge of his impending victory:

I want to remind people that he took credit for Biden’s economy – BOOMING economy, claiming investors knew he was going to win. I think he should stop saying that because you’re going to make somebody investigate how investigators would know you were going to win. I’m just putting that out there. You know.

What triggered Goldberg’s election denialism was a January 29, 2024 Truth Social from Trump where he bombastically declared in all caps: “THIS IS THE TRUMP STOCK MARKET BECAUSE MY POLL AGAINST BIDEN ARE SO GOOD THAT INVESTORS ARE PROJECTING THAT I WILL WIN…”

Goldberg asked the rest of the cast how long the American people were going to put up with Trump as president since “the economy was great when he came in.” Joy Behar agreed by writing off average Americans upset at inflation by arguing that all the “every important person in the economy said” Bidenomics were great.

Further in the segment, Goldberg suggested that Trump “came in with a good [economy]” from Obama during his first term; sentiment shared by an irritated Sunny Hostin, who asserted that Trump had twice “inherited” good economies and tried to falsely give credit to Biden for the post-COVID bounce back:

HOSTIN: I think that Whoopi’s point is very important. Trump inherited Obama’s economy. So, let’s never forget that! And then, he then inherited Biden’s economy. And I know we’re going to have the former president come and talk about his legacy, but I want to mention that his economic legacy historic wage gains, investment in job growth, marred by inflation, of course, but numbers don’t lie. His economy was strong, Trump’s tariffs killed it. The nation’s GDP growth under Biden was impressive; rose at a solid 3.1 percent rate at the end of his term.

BEHAR: Unemployment very low.

HOSTIN: I was going to say, he was the president to oversee monthly job gains for the entirety of his presidency.

“What good has [Trump] done to the economy?! What kind of businessman is that?! A bad one!” Hostin shouted.

Seemingly denying the fact that Trump won the popular vote in 2024, Goldberg suggested that Trump’s economic policies were revenge on the American people. “I think he’s angry at the country because I think he feels that Americans didn’t support him, he feels our allies didn’t support him, and now he’s getting even,” she

“[T]here’s no other reason to do what he’s doing. It doesn’t make sense to me,” Goldberg proclaimed.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: I want to remind people that he took credit for Biden’s economy – BOOMING economy, claiming investors knew he was going to win. I think he should stop saying that because you’re going to make somebody investigate how investigators would know you were going to win. I’m just putting that out there. You know.

Now, how long are people going to put up with this because, you know, the economy was great when he came in?

SUNNY HOSTIN: Yeah.

SARA HAINES: Yeah.

JOY BEHAR: That’s what every important person in the economy said, yeah.

GOLDBERG: Everybody was saying, yes. So, I’m not sure. And I don’t know why suddenly now he said we’re going to have billions and billions and billions. You’re going to get billions and now he’s talking about no dolls on the shelf. I don’t know what to do.

(…)

11:06:13 a.m. Eastern

BEHAR: Alyssa, wasn’t that because he had people around who controlled him?

GOLDBERG: And he came in with a good – He came in from Obama’s economy.

[Crosstalk]

ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN: He had sound economic policy and he had advisers who talked to him about the consequences about across-the-board tariffs. If you want to target some things in China, fine, but work with our European allies, work with our pacific allies. That’s actually how you out China and strengthen America.

BEHAR: Why doesn’t he do that?

[Applause]

HOSTIN: I think that Whoopi’s point is very important. Trump inherited Obama’s economy. So, let’s never forget that! And then, he then inherited Biden’s economy. And I know we’re going to have the former president come and talk about his legacy, but I want to mention that his economic legacy historic wage gains, investment in job growth, marred by inflation, of course, but numbers don’t lie. BEHAR: Unemployment very low.

HOSTIN: I was going to say, he was the president to oversee monthly job gains for the entirety of his presidency. And the U.S. – And get this, Donald Trump is supposed to be a builder, right? He’s the best builder ever. Well, the U.S. added 16.6 million jobs during Biden’s presidency, more than any during any four-year term of any previous president. That is what Donald Trump got.

What we got now, especially in his second quarter, stock market demolished, 401(K)s demolished, Department of Education demolished, DOGE demolishing things, federal government jobs gone. What good has he done to the economy?! What kind of businessman is that?! A bad one!

[Applause]

BEHAR: The way you describe it. Sounds like he wants — he’s like a nihilist, some body who wants to destroy everything.

GOLDBERG: I think he’s angry at the country because I think he feels that Americans didn’t support him, he feels our allies didn’t support him and now he’s getting even. That’s how — because there’s no other reason to do what he’s doing. It doesn’t make sense to me.

‘PBS Really Helps Little Kids’: Tapper Tries To Shame GOP Rep. For Wanting To Defund

May 1, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Newsbusters

CNN’s host of The Lead, Jake Tapper, tried to shame GOP Rep. Brandon Gill on Wednesday for trying to defund PBS and NPR by claiming, “PBS really helps little kids,” citing himself learning how to read by watching Sesame Street as an example. However, Tapper’s days in school were not complete as Gill informed him that the real issue is PBS’s “left-wing propaganda,” whether that be in its newsrooms or on Tapper’s beloved children’s programming.

Towards the end of their interview, Tapper wondered why Gill thinks PBS is such a big deal, “Speaker Johnson has said he would additionally like to cut funding for public broadcasting, PBS, which does receive some support from the federal government. I just — it’s interesting. I just have to say, on a personal level, I learned to read by watching Sesame Street and Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood and The Electric Company. That’s literally how I learned to read as a kid. Why do you not think PBS is important?”

Gill answered the question in two ways. First, he stood up for the basic principle that the government should not be funding media outlets, “One of those that we found, which Republicans and conservatives have talked about for decades, is state-sponsored media in the United States. China and North Korea have state-sponsored media. The United States does not need state-sponsored media. Listen, if Fox News or any other conservative news organization came to me and asked for taxpayer money, I would tell them no.”

Second, Gill brought the attention back to the actual news organization, “I certainly don’t think we should be funding left-wing propaganda outlets, like NPR or PBS. I had a hearing just a couple weeks ago where I got to question the head of NPR and asked her about some of the wild, outrageous things that she had been posting on the internet for the whole world to see, and she had no answer for that. The American people are sick of funding institutions who promote values that they find repugnant, and that’s what we’re doing with NPR and PBS.”

Tapper wasn’t convinced, “Okay. But Sesame Street, I mean, Daniel the Tiger, Wild Kratts, I mean, you have little kids, I know, and I’m sure you, you and your wife can bring them great educational programming. But a lot of kids might not have access to cable, and I didn’t when I was little because cable didn’t exist. But I mean, PBS really helps little kids. I mean, I’m talking specifically about kids learning how to read through Sesame Street in similar programming.”

Of course, Tapper undermined his own argument by illustrating how the media has changed since he was a child, but Gill also informed him Sesame Street isn’t purely a PBS property anymore, “Well, they’ve already spun off Sesame Street to HBO [Max], so that’s not with PBS anymore.”

It should be said that in December, Max announced it would no longer be producing new episodes of the series following the conclusion of its current season, but the point is that Sesame Street could still get picked up by another private entity such as Apple TV+, Amazon, or Netflix. Currently, one can watch Sesame Street on Max for $10 per month nine months before it airs on PBS.

Gill continued, “But what I don’t think the government should be doing is funding these institutions that are radically left-wing and are oftentimes even in their cartoon shows, geared towards young children, promoting far-left ideologies that are not teaching children how to read but are teaching them the trans agenda and other things that large portions of our country do not agree with. Our tax dollars should not be funding institutions and ideologies that are promoting values that many people, including the people of Texas 26, that I represent, find repulsive.”

Between the amount of money it makes from potential streaming partners, its presence at theme parks, and merchandise, Sesame Street will survive. The question for Tapper is why should half of America be forced to subsidize a media organization that acts like it is part of the opposition?

CNN The Lead with Jake Tapper

JAKE TAPPER: Speaker Johnson has said he would additionally like to cut funding for public broadcasting, PBS, which does receive some support from the federal government. I just — it’s interesting. I just have to say, on a personal level, I learned to read by watching Sesame Street and Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood and The Electric Company. That’s literally how I learned to read as a kid. Why do you not think PBS is important?

BRANDON GILL: Well, listen, we were — I’m a member of the DOGE Subcommittee of Oversight. We were tasked with finding waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government and highlighting it. And one of those that we found, which Republicans and conservatives have talked about for decades, is state-sponsored media in the United States. China and North Korea have state-sponsored media. The United States does not need state-sponsored media.

Listen, if Fox News or any other conservative news organization came to me and asked for taxpayer money, I would tell them no. The American people are sick of funding institutions who promote values that they find repugnant, and that’s what we’re doing with NPR and PBS. And that’s what we are hopefully soon, via a rescission bill, going to pull those funds back.

TAPPER: Okay. I mean, I’m talking specifically about kids learning how to read through Sesame Street in similar programming.

GILL: Well, they’ve already spun off Sesame Street to HBO, so that’s not with PBS anymore. Our tax dollars should not be funding institutions and ideologies that are promoting values that many people, including the people of Texas 26, that I represent, find repulsive.

TAPPER: All right. Congressman Brandon Gill, thanks so much. Good to see you, sir.

Former Rep. Yadira Caraveo, Now Looking To Reclaim House Seat, Drove Staffers to Therapy With Abusive Behavior

May 1, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Washington Free Beacon

Former Rep. Yadira Caraveo’s (D., Colo) staffers had to enter therapy after enduring the Colorado Democrat’s abusive behavior as she dealt with mental health struggles, including two suicide attempts witnessed by aides, the Colorado Sun reported Thursday.

Caraveo’s “frightening and traumatizing” behavior while serving in Congress and running for reelection last year prompted her aides to propose a safety plan, according to the Colorado Sun. They requested that sharp objects be removed from her offices and said they didn’t want to be responsible for talking her “through suicidal thoughts” or “keeping her company during a crisis.”

The plan was rejected and the aides were told they had to put up with Caraveo or resign within a day. But apparently it wasn’t just Caraveo’s well-being that was at risk. Former aides told the Colorado Sun that Caraveo—who’s again running for office in 2026—would snap at them and cancel events due to mental health issues, then blame her staff for frayed relationships with community leaders and fundraising problems.

“It’s completely fine to struggle with mental illness,” one former staffer told the Colorado Sun. “But it is one thing to struggle with mental illness and it’s another thing to weaponize it.”

“Everyone left the office because of the way Yadira treated people and her mental stability,” another said.

The aides, who requested anonymity to avoid retaliation, said they were speaking to provide a warning for anyone considering working for Caraveo, who had one of the highest turnover rates in Congress last year.

Caraveo is aiming to reclaim Colorado’s Eighth Congressional District after losing to Rep. Gabe Evans (R.) in 2024 by less than a single percentage point. The swing district’s 2026 outcome could decide which party controls the House—and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is not actively supporting Caraveo.

The Democrat admitted in March that she leaned on her aides and claimed she apologized to them.

“Many times [my staffers] were the only ones that I felt like I could be open with and not pretend to be OK all the time, because that was the rest of my life — pretending that I was OK,” Caraveo told Colorado Public Radio. “I know that it placed undue pressure on them, and I’ve apologized to them many times. But also, [I] needed them to understand and acknowledge that it was an illness and that I couldn’t completely control how I was reacting to that illness until I finally got help.”

But Caraveo’s former aides told the Colorado Sun they never received an apology and felt mistreated from the outset. Some have entered therapy.

Caraveo’s first known suicide attempt came in February 2024 when staffers rushed to her home after she sent them concerning messages. They learned that she’d taken 19 sleeping pills and was drinking alcohol. She was rushed to the hospital and was placed on an emergency mental health hold. A police officer noted in an application for the hold that Caraveo, a licensed physician, said “this will put me to sleep for awhile.”

The Colorado Sun, which obtained the application, learned of the suicide attempt the Saturday before Election Day. Caraveo’s team responded to the outlet’s inquiries with a cease-and-desist letter, threatening to sue if it published a story.

Then, in April 2024, emergency responders were called to Caraveo’s district office to treat a woman suffering from an overdose after taking about 20 lorazepam—an anxiety and sleep drug recently made famous by a suicidal character on HBO’s White Lotus. Multiple sources confirmed to the Colorado Sun that the woman was Caraveo.

She was meeting with local Latino leaders when the drugs took effect, causing the meeting to be cut short. She also had to miss an event later that day opening up her 2024 campaign headquarters.

Caraveo, however, told Colorado Public Radio, that she took a “handful” of medications for a foot injury, resulting in an emergency room trip.

Caraveo’s 2026 campaign did not respond to a request for comment. The Democrat also didn’t answer the Colorado Sun’s questions, including whether she took the lorazepam before or after driving to the April 2024 events at her office, and instead provided a more general written statement.

“As I’ve been open about, I was in a dark place when I was suffering from depression and I know the disease led me to treat my friends, family and my staff in ways that I regret. I’m deeply sorry,” Caraveo wrote. “[S]uffering from depression does not disqualify anyone from doing hard things or working to make their communities better.”

“Through treatment I have seen profound changes in my illness and I wish I had sought this kind of treatment decades ago. It has changed how I interact with others and see the world, as well as how I see and treat myself,” she added.

Radical Far-Left Ilhan Omar SNAPS — Tells Reporter to “F*ck Off” When Asked If More Democrats Will Visit Deported MS-13 Gang Member

May 1, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: Gateway Pundit, INVESTIGATIONS

Screenshot: Daily Caller News Foundation

Far-left Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) told a reporter to “f*ck off” — not once, but twice — after being asked whether more Democrats would be traveling to El Salvador to advocate for the return of a MS-13 gang member.

Myles Morell, a journalist with the Daily Caller, calmly asked Omar if more of her Democratic colleagues would follow her lead in pushing for the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a violent criminal deported under President Trump’s administration and suspected of being tied to the notoriously brutal MS-13 gang.

Rather than answer the legitimate question, Omar exploded with vulgarity.

“Do you think more of your Democratic colleagues should be traveling to El Salvador to advocate on behalf of Abrego Garcia?” Morell asked.

Omar’s response? “I think you should f*ck off.”

Stunned, Morell asked for clarification: “I’m sorry, what, congresswoman?”

“You should f*ck off. You,” she repeated.

WATCH:

This unhinged outburst from a sitting member of Congress — someone sworn to uphold civility and represent the American people — shows just how extreme and unaccountable the far-left wing of the Democrat Party has become.

Rather than denounce violent criminals or answer for her party’s soft stance on illegal immigration, Omar chose to attack the messenger.

four Democratic House representatives—Robert Garcia (CA), Maxwell Frost (FL), Yassamin Ansari (AZ), and Maxine Dexter (OR)—traveled to El Salvador on April 21, 2025, to demand the release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an alleged MS-13 gang member and El Salvadoran national.

The trip, inspired by Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), was undertaken to pressure the Trump administration and El Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele to comply with a U.S. Supreme Court order to facilitate Garcia’s return to the United States.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) is slamming the brakes on Democrats’ little vacation plans to El Salvador.

Representative Henry Cuellar (D-TX) rightfully slammed his spineless party for wasting time defending Abrego Garcia, blasting them for obsessing over irrelevant distractions while ignoring the real issues American voters actually care about.

Yaron Brook: Selfishness, Immigration, War, Love, Liberty and of Course Ayn Rand

May 1, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Newsbusters

Government makes most things worse.

Lyndon Johnson launched a War on Poverty; Richard Nixon a War on Drugs.

Both had good intentions, but their “wars” do more harm than good.

I believed the War on Poverty would lift people out of poverty.

At the time I was a naive Princeton student who believed my professors when they said, “It’s wrong that in this rich country, people are poor, so government should fix that. Targeted programs will lift people out of poverty.”

Have they?

We’ve spent more than $30 trillion so far. Some people were helped.

When welfare began, the poverty rate dropped … dropped for seven years.

But then progress stopped. Since the 1970s, the number of Americans living in poverty rose and fell, but the initial success hasn’t repeated.

That’s because the handouts encourage people to become dependent. Welfare even discouraged marriage because a single parent gets a bigger check.

As a result, welfare created something never seen before in America: a permanent “underclass” — generations raised without fathers, generations who stay poor and passive.

It’s happened because people “are basically told, ‘you can’t take care of yourself’… It doesn’t encourage them to be ambitious,” says Yaron Brook, head of the Ayn Rand Institute, in my new video.

“Once you start paying people not to work … they don’t expect to take responsibility for their own lives.”

The War on Drugs also had unintended consequences.

“When you launch a war on drugs … you create huge profits for cartels because there’s so much at stake,” says Brook.

That led to more illegal drugs, and “massive corruption among police.”

I ask, just “let everybody take whatever poison they want?”

“Yes,” says Brook, echoing Ayn Rand, who said it is “the responsibility of the individual not to take the kind of things … which destroy his mind.”

Brook and I disagree about how to protect the environment. It’s one area where I think we do need government. Our air and water are cleaner now because the Environmental Protection Agency set some rules.

Brook says we could have accomplished that without the EPA, if individuals filed lawsuits.

“You pollute in some way that is clearly making me sick, we have legal redress to deal with that … But once you give it into the hands of bureaucrats … they want to regulate and control every activity that we’re engaged in.”

He cites California’s wildfires and water shortages as an example of “government gone wild.” (That’s also the title of my new book.)

Government has grown wildly. Even with DOGE cuts, it will still grow. It always does.

The EPA once imposed useful rules, but regulators always want more. Today, EPA should stand for Enough Protection Already!

“Northern California has plenty of water,” says Brook. “In the old days, they used to move massive amounts of water from the north to south. … These days, there’s still a lot of water available in the north that cannot be moved south because of some tiny little fish.”

That’s the delta smelt, protected by the Endangered Species Act.

“In the name of some little fish, they’re willing to shut down huge improvements to human life.”

If it’s not the smelt, it’s an endangered plant. Power companies wanted to install fire-resistant metal poles.

“They can’t widen fire lanes because there’s some plant that they had to uproot,”

“They were shut down by environmentalists because of this crazy plant … (also) they can’t widen fire lanes. The consequence, of course, is the burning down of thousands of homes. … When you place the value of a plant above the value of human life, that leads to destruction of human life.”

Brook’s point is not that people shouldn’t try to help the poor, the addicted, and the planet; it’s that individuals do it better than government ever will.

“All these government programs that regulate and control, they institutionalize mediocrity at best.”

White House’s Stephen Miller TORCHES Liberal Media Coddling Dangerous Illegal Aliens

May 1, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Newsbusters

On Thursday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt held yet another unusual morning press briefing, but this time, her guest was Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller to provide barn-burning remarks on what the administration called President Trump’s first 100 days of “Restoring Common Sense.”

Miller repeatedly took the liberal media — living in safe, wealthy confines — to task, particularly for choosing dangerous illegal immigrants over American citizens.

He hit his crescendo in torching the leftist press when CBS’s Weijia Jiang asked whether the U.S. was doing anything to help bring home (alleged MS-13 gang member) Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

Miller first said diplomatic discussions are not for public consumption and then thanked El Salvador for its willingness to take dangerous illegal immigrants out the U.S. But from there, he turned up the heat with a case of bias by omission:

You may have seen recently an FBI assessment that was unclassified, that said that the Maduro regime is using and planning to use Tren de Aragua terrorists to carry out assassination plots on American soil. Now, very few in this room covered that. I’ll let you all ask yourselves why you didn’t cover it, and why your editors didn’t assign that story to you. That’s something I think you should think about on your own, but this is a Earth-shattering piece of news.

As for Abrego Garcia, he went through the facts about Abrego Garcia the liberal media have ignored because they’re too busy “obsessively try[ing] to shill for this MS-13 terrorist.”

Miller next struck at the heart of the liberal media’s obsession with “due process” for illegal immigrants by pointing out the victims of crimes by illegals weren’t granted any mercy. All the while, the liberal media coddle illegal immigrants from their luxurious and safe homes:

Miller led off the proceedings with a series of remarks about areas in which he said President Trump has restored common sense. After highlighting Trump stopping “the wave of racial discrimination, so-called diversity, equity, in exclusion policies,” and far-left academia, he arrived at the issue of transgenderism (and then immigration).

Watch Miller’s remarks below and you’ll see in the caption that this was greeted by the liberal press corps with crickets as nearly all the questions concerned tariffs:

Once he finished extolling the administration’s work on illegal immigration, Leavitt kicked off the Q&A with the “new media seat”:

Jiang’s first question concerned Amazon’s embarrassing faceplant when, prior to pushback from President Trump, considered putting a graphic on its Amazon Haul site to show added costs due to the new tariffs.

Miller blasted this failed proposal by noting they never did this with the burdensome regulations imposed by California (click “expand”):

JIANG: This administration has stressed the need for price transparency for things like health care bills and concert tickets. So why is it a political and hostile act for Amazon to display price transparency on consumer goods?

MILLER: Well, I think it’s the wrong way of looking at it, which is why would — first of all, that proposal is gone now. But why would Amazon, of all the different things that go into a theoretical price input — right — for example, does Amazon list the cost of California’s regulations on everything made in California? Anything you make in California, you have a massive price increase because of the health care regulations that are unworkable in that state, because of the labor regulations that are unworkable in that state, because of the subsidies that go to illegal aliens in that state, because of all the bureaucracy. So, anything being produced in California has a massive built in price hike. So, why wouldn’t Amazon have a list saying if you purchase it in California instead of in Alabama, this is the premium that you pay, that you pay? This is a clear attempt by whoever proposed it originally. I don’t know, because Amazon says they’re never going to do it to try to undermine our trade negotiations with China. I make another important point on this, which is that there have been many complaints about the fact that there are a lot of products that are sold on Amazon that are actually rip offs of American products that are then stolen by China, and that they take our IP and they put them into products to try to undersell our manufacturers, so to the extent that we are engaged in labeling issues on Amazon, I would say that would be the most significant one to fix is making sure we’re not undercutting American consumers.

It was left to Real America’s Voice’s Brian Glenn to not only close the briefing, but the only one to seek White House comment about former Vice President Kamala Harris’s speech from the night prior:

Senator Grassley

On Thursday Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) made public internal emails from Trump-hating FBI agents “planning and celebrating” the indictment of Trump advisor Dr. Peter Navarro.

In an email to a colleague, former FBI official Timothy Thibault celebrated Navarro’s impending indictment, “Wow! Great!”

However, Grassley noted, when a criminal referral was issued for Nellie Ohr the FBI and DOJ chose not to press charges against her.

In June 2022, a federal grand jury indicted Trump advisor Dr. Peter Navarro for contempt of Congress after he refused to cooperate with Liz Cheney’s unconstitutional January 6 Committee.

Navarro faced two contempt counts: one for his failure to produce documents demanded by the committee and the other for failing to show up for subpoenaed testimony before House investigators.

According to Navarro, the feds put him in leg irons and threw him in a cell.

“They intercepted me gettin’ on the plane and then they put me in handcuffs, they bring me here. They put me in leg irons. They stick me in a cell,” Navarro said to reporters after his arrest.

Dr. Peter Navarro speaks to reporters about arrest

Navarro did not take a plea on the contempt of Congress charges and he was convicted in September 2023.

In March 2024 Peter Navarro reported to prison for his 4-month sentence. He was the first high-ranking Trump aide to be imprisoned by the Biden Regime.

Navarro was released from prison in July 2024.

“According to the FBI’s own statistics, violent crime rose 4.5% in 2022. Meanwhile, the D.C. U.S. Attorney’s Office refused to prosecute two-thirds of the criminals arrested in our nation’s capital that very same year. Instead of focusing on the rampant cases of murder and rape perpetrated against everyday Americans, personnel in the FBI’s Washington Field Office and D.C. U.S. Attorney’s Office were obsessing over ways to target President Trump and his allies. Their conduct is disgraceful and un-American,” Grassley said of his letter. “Transparency brings accountability, which is why I’m requesting AG Bondi and Director Patel produce all records that further demonstrate this political rot.”

Nets Ditch ‘Maryland Dad’, Crown Mahdawi as New Immigration Poster Boy

May 1, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Newsbusters

With damning new evidence piling up in the case of deported MS-13 gangbanger Kilmar Abrego García and the media trapped defending his gang tattoos, there is a clear need for a new exemplar to promote against the perceived excesses of Trump immigration policy. Tonight, a new consensus poster boy may have emerged in Mohsen Mahdawi.

Watch the glowing coverage garnered by Madhawi on NBC Nightly News:

NBC NIGHTLY NEWS

LESTER HOLT: Now to an update on a Columbia University student activist detained by the Trump administration. Today a federal judge ordered Mohsen Mahdawi to be released on bail as he fights deportation. We get more from Stephanie Gosk.

STEPHANIE GOSK: Tonight, Palestinian Mohsen Mahdawi is released on bail, and sounding victorious.

MOSHEN MAHDAWI: For anybody who is doubting justice, this is a light of hope. A hope and faith in the justice system and in America.

GOSK: The Columbia University student, who is a legal permanent resident in the U.S., was detained during an immigration interview in Vermont earlier this month, handcuffed and removed by federal agents. Last year, Mahdawi helped lead pro-Palestinian protests on campus. In a statement, the DHS says “a green card is a privilege. When you advocate for violence, glorify and support terrorists that relish the killing of Americans, and harass Jews, it should be revoked.” Mahdawi denies he has ever advocated for violence.

MAHDAWI: They arrested me. What’s the reason? Because I raised my voice.

GOSK: The federal judge ordered Mahdawi released on bail while he challenges his detention. His legal team arguing that the government is trying to silence his opposition to the war in Gaza.

SHEZZA ABBOUSHI DALAL: This is not the first time we’ve seen the government go after basic First Amendment rights.

GOSK: In his ruling, the judge says “Mahdawi appears not to be either a flight risk or a danger to the community.” Adding that “continuing to detain him would likely have a chilling effect on protected speech.” DHS responding, “the Trump administration is committed to restoring the rule of law to our immigration system. No judge, not this one or any other, is going to stop us from doing that.” On the steps of the court, after two weeks in detention, Marawi with a defiant message for the administration.

MAHDAWI: To President Trump and his Cabinet, I am not afraid of you. [ Cheers and applause ]

HOLT: Now, Stephanie, this doesn’t mean he can’t be detained again.

GOSK: That’s right. He still has to challenge his detention in that federal court in Vermont. Meanwhile, the Trump administration is pursuing his deportation in immigration court, Lester.

HOLT: All right. Stephanie Gosk, thank you.

Coverage was glowing, casting Mahdawi as a victim of the Trump administration, and made sure to find the time to frame him as brave and defiant, resisting the evil tyrant Trump. In many ways, coverage mirrored that of Abrego García. That is, until the drip-drip-drip of damning evidence came to light- to wit: allegations confirming Abrego Garcia as a gangbanger going back to 2018, and a 2020 petition for court order alleging that Abrego Garcia bragged about being able to kill his wife with impunity.

Don’t look now, but the drip-drip-drip with Mahdawi has already begun:

Don’t expect to learn from the NY Times or NPR that Mohsen Mahdawi, whose deportation has attracted very sympathetic coverage, was reported to the FBI in 2015 for bragging to a gun shop owner about killing Israeli Jews and that he loved to kill Jews. 1/2 pic.twitter.com/cyYIbV3ONG

ABC and CBS also jumped on the Mahdawi bandwagon, albeit with brief reports nowhere near the length and scope of NBC. And as soon as the bloom wears off Mahdawi, they’ll find their next face of resistance.

Below are the transcripts of the aforementioned reports, as aired on their respective networks on Wednesday, April 30th, 2025:

ABC WORLD NEWS TONIGHT

DAVID MUIR: Tonight a federal judge has released a Columbia University student activist after two weeks in jail. Moshen Mahdawi, a legal permanent resident, was arrested during an interview to finalize his U.S. citizenship. The Trump administration claims they can deport anyone they believe threatens foreign policy. Mahdawi’s attorneys say he is being punished for legally protected speech and that they expect the government will try to appeal this release now.

MAURICE DuBOIS: A federal judge in Vermont ordered the release of a Palestinian student activist who led campus protests at Columbia University. Mohsen Mahdawi, a green card holder, had been arrested two weeks ago during a U.S. citizenship interview.

Kamala Cackles Back at Trump

May 1, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: The Blaze, THE NEWS

Failed presidential candidate Kamala Harris gave another paid speech on Wednesday to a group of Democratic activists in San Francisco. In a rather unconvincing attempt to mimic liberal outrage while reciting bland talking points about the importance of “we the people,” Harris attacked Donald Trump for sowing “fear” and punishing “truth tellers.” The former VP’s tone throughout the 30-minute address, which featured an extended discussion of a viral video of elephants at the San Diego Zoo, lurched from cacophonous shouting to saccharine sing-song. She declined to address the (still unresolved) controversy surrounding her alleged work at McDonald’s, the popular fast food chain.

“I’ll leave it to others to give a full accounting of what has happened so far [under President Trump],” Harris bravely remarked at the 20th anniversary gala for Emerge America, a group that trains Democratic women to run for office. “But I will say this: Instead of an administration working to advance America’s highest ideals, we are witnessing the wholesale abandonment of those ideals.”

As telegraphed by aides who spoke anonymously to reporters ahead of the speech, Harris invoked what has been described as “her theme,” which relates to the contagiousness of courage. “We all know President Trump and his administration and their allies are counting on the notion that fear can be contagious,” Harris told attendees, who hissed and booed in disgust. “But what they’re overlooking, what they have overlooked, is that fear is not the only thing that is contagious. Courage is contagious.”

Harris praised the American institutions that have attempted to fight back against Trump, such as Ivy League universities and unelected federal judges. “The courage of all these Americans inspires me, and I have been inspired,” she gushed. “I am not here tonight to offer all the answers, but I am here to say this: You are not alone, and we are all in this together.” The failed candidate, who is widely expected to announce a run for governor of California later this year, described this moment in American politics, somewhat bizarrely, as a “high-velocity event where a vessel is being used for the swift implementation of an agenda that has been decades in the making.”

The former VP cackled violently as she requested permission to “digress for a moment,” and asked members of the audience if they had seen “that video from a couple weeks ago, the one of the elephants at the San Diego Zoo during the earthquake,” urging those who had not to “Google it.” That video, she explained, was what she had been thinking about since losing to Trump. Harris is also reportedly thinking about starting an “institute for policy and idea,” according to the New York Times. This would come as a shock to many, given her remarkable inability to articulate coherent thoughts about policy or anything else.

It is presumed that Harris’s speaking fee for the Emerge America event was several times the U.S. median income of roughly $80,000. Tickets to the event itself ran as high as $50,000, while those watching via livestream had to fork over $25 for a “digital ticket.” The address was billed as Harris’s “most extensive” public remarks since the election. She has kept a low profile over the past few months as she plots her political comeback, which could include another presidential campaign if she decides to forgo the California governor’s race in 2026.

“There is a clamoring for her voice right now,” a former Harris adviser told NBC News before the speech. “No one can better prosecute the case while inspiring a call to action than the former vice president.” (Fact check: Not supported by the evidence.) For reasons that defy explanation, the former Harris aide requested (and was granted) anonymity to “speak candidly” in support of their old boss.

It’s not entirely clear why anyone would be “clamoring” to hear from Harris right now. Her reluctance to return to the spotlight is understandable in light of the recently published books about the 2024 election, which have revealed damning new details about the Democratic Party’s efforts to cover up Joe Biden’s cognitive decline. Those efforts to conceal Biden’s malfunctioning brain were motivated in no small part by the fears of party leaders who thought Harris lacked the competence and charisma to succeed on the national stage.

Barack Obama had “deep misgivings about Harris” and did not want her to replace Biden on the ticket, Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes write in Fight: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House. The former president thought Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer would be better, and sought to arrange a “mini-primary” that would “kneecap Harris” because he was sure she would lose. Nancy Pelosi, the former speaker of the House, was similarly unenthusiastic about Harris taking over for Biden. “Pelosi didn’t want Harris, didn’t think the vice president would prevail in a competition for the nomination, and didn’t think she would beat Trump,” a Pelosi ally told Allen and Parnes. “More than that … she doesn’t like Harris.”

This was also one of the main reasons Biden decided to endorse Harris almost immediately after dropping out. “[T]he most satisfying aspect of his decision to endorse had little to do with Harris,” Allen and Parnes write. “It was a fuck-you to Obama’s plan,” said one person close to both men. “At that moment, you have very few things you control, and that’s the one thing he had control over, and he chose to stick it to Obama.”

In addition to being a multimillionaire Netflix producer who plays golf with celebrities, Obama is also a credibly accused misogynist who once described Harris as the “best-looking attorney general in the country.”
