INVESTIGATIONS

MSNBC’s Beinart Hopes Trump Is Tried at The Hague for ‘Great War Crimes’

January 30, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Newsbusters

On Monday’s The ReidOut show, MSNBC political analyst Peter Beinart declared that he hopes President Donald Trump is tried for war crimes at The Hague in response to the President recommending that Gaza’s population be relocated to neighboring Arab countries. He went on to label the suggestion “monstrous,” “depraved,” and “racist.”

Host Joy Reid began the segment by showing images of Palestinians walking back to their homes in northern Gaza in the aftermath of the war, and set up an audio clip of Trump pushing for Egypt and Jordan to take in the Palestinians from Gaza. After bringing aboard Beinart as her guest and touting his new book on Gaza, Reid began by fretting: “I was stunned by the Associated Press reporting of the quote that we just heard Donald Trump saying in sound. And they did not use the word ‘ethnic cleansing’ in the Associated Press report, but what he described is ethnic cleansing, right?”

Beinart was quick to muse about the possibility of a kangaroo court in The Hague putting Trump on trial as the left-wing critic of Israel responded:

Absolutely. I’m glad it’s on tape so that, you know, hopefully, one day Donald Trump is before the Hague on some kind of international criminal tribunal, this can be played. This is going to be one of the great acts of — one of the great war crimes — one of the great human rights abuses of our time. And the logic is so insane and depraved, right? Gaza has been destroyed with American weapons, right?

He pushed for the U.S. to stop supplying weapons to Israel and even seemed to endorse the “Right of Return” demanded by Palestinian Arabs that would allow millions to move into Israel where their parents and grandparents fled from in 1948:

And rather than say that maybe we should stop sending those weapons — that we should rebuild Gaza — that we should look at the basic reality that Palestinians lack human freedom or instead of saying that maybe Palestinians, if they have to leave Gaza, should be able to go back to the places they’re from because most of their families were expelled from Israel; his solution after the United States has helped Israel lay waste to Gaza, is that those people should be forced to leave and never allowed to return.

Even though Egypt is about 45 times as large as Israel, Israel is the country where Beinart thinks Palestinian Arabs should be allowed to resettle where they would no doubt continue to destabilize the only free country in the Middle East.

As Reid followed up, she read quotes from a couple of prominent right-wing Israelis who voiced support for President Trump’s suggestion, and then commented: “So the two people who the ICC views as potentially war criminals or at least supporting it — they love this idea.”

Beinart further tore into Republicans as he responded: “This is utterly monstrous, utterly depraved, and just a sign of how profoundly racist and dehumanizing the American public discourse, especially in the Republican party, is about Palestinians, as if they’re not human beings who are deserving of equal dignity to all of the rest of them.”

He ended up discussing his recent article, “States Don’t Have a Right to Exist. People Do,” by pushing for Israel to be “re-imagined” to include the Palestinians in Gaza and presumably those in the West Bank as well:

So if states fail radically at protecting human life, then states should be reformed — re-imagined to do a better job, right? That’s what happened to Apartheid South Africa. That’s what many of us would like to happen with Iran. There are many, many states that we would like to be re-imagined so they treat their people better. So when people always say Israel has a right to exist, what they’re not — what they’re essentially saying is its right to exist trumps the right to exist of all of the people under its control, half of whom are Palestinians, that inverts actually the way Jewish tradition thinks about what fundamentally matters.

Transcript follows:

MSNBC’s The ReidOut

January 27, 2025

7:54 p.m. Eastern

JOY REID: As the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas enters its second week, new video shows the remarkable scenes in Gaza today as hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians begin returning home to what’s left of northern Gaza for the first time in 15 months, but it comes as, over the weekend, Donald Trump suggested moving more than a million Palestinians out of Gaza and into neighboring countries to, quote, “clean out” the Gaza Strip.

AUDIO OF PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: I’d like Egypt to take people, and I’d like Jordan to take people. I mean, you’re talking about probably a million and a half people, and we just clean out that whole thing.

REID: Joining me now is Peter Beinart, editor at large of Jewish Currents, MSNBC political analyst, and author of the new book, Being Jewish After the Destruction of Gaza: Reckoning, which comes out tomorrow. And I look forward to reading your book, Peter. I was stunned by the Associated Press reporting of the quote that we just heard Donald Trump saying in sound. And they did not use the word “ethnic cleansing” in the Associated Press report, but what he described is ethnic cleansing, right?

PETER BEINART, MSNBC CONTRIBUTOR: Absolutely. I’m glad it’s on tape so that, you know, hopefully, one day Donald Trump is before the Hague on some kind of international criminal tribunal, this can be played. This is going to be one of the great acts of one of the great war crimes — one of the great human rights abuses of our time. And the logic is so insane and depraved, right? Gaza has been destroyed with American weapons, right? And rather than say that maybe we should stop sending those weapons — that we should rebuild Gaza — that we should look at the basic reality that Palestinians lack human freedom or instead of saying that maybe Palestinians, if they have to leave Gaza, should be able to go back to the places they’re from because most of their families were expelled from Israel; his solution after the United States has helped Israel lay waste to Gaza, is that those people should be forced to leave and never allowed to return.

REID: Yeah. And this is as his son-in-law last year in 2024 talked about Gaza being great beachfront property, and he’s also holding two billion dollars worth of Saudi money if he wanted to become a real estate developer. Let me quote — I will note, to your point that you just made, Peter, Donald Trump — the other thing that he did is he lifted the pause on 2,000-pound bombs. Biden only let them get the 1,700 -pound bombs. He had lifted — he had banned the 2,000-pound ones. He also ordered a halt to virtually all foreign aid except Israel and Egypt. So that’s for those who voted for Trump as the preferable candidate for Palestinian freedom.

Here is the reaction of Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir: (reading from an NBCNews.com article)  “While the Israeli prime minister’s office has yet to respond to NBC News’ request for comment regarding Trump’s remarks, the President’s sentiments were welcomed by ultranationalist Palestinians, including” the aforementioned Smotrich and Ben-Gvir.”

“Smotrich called the idea of finding new homes for Gaza residents ‘wonderful’, telling Israeli broadcaster Channel 12 on Sunday that ‘only out-of-the-box thinking and new solutions will bring peace and security.’ Ben-Gvir also congratulated Trump on the initiative in a post on X.”

So the two people who the ICC views as potentially war criminals or at least supporting it — they love this idea.

BEINART: Right, and there was actually reporting from early — not long after October 7 — that Benjamin Netanyahu himself was trying to get Egypt to open the border so that there would be a mass forcing of Palestinians out of Gaza, and they would not be allowed to return. I mean, Israel has never allowed Palestinian refugees who were expelled to return. So there’s no reason to believe they would allow them to now, right? This is utterly monstrous, utterly depraved, and just a sign of how profoundly racist and dehumanizing the American public discourse, especially in the Republican party, is about Palestinians, as if they’re not human beings who are deserving of equal dignity to all of the rest of them.

REID: Yeah. You wrote a piece — I want to change courses just a little bit — you wrote a piece, and I actually watched the video of you discussing it on your Substack. And it’s a controversial title because it gets to a thing that people always talk about, and you wrote: “States Don’t Have a Right to Exist. People Do.” Because a question that people will come right back to if anyone criticizes the Israeli government — no matter what they do — is, “Does Israel have a right to exist?” And you say that states do not. Please explain.

BEINART: In Jewish tradition, we believe that only human beings are created in the image of God and have infinite value. States are merely an instrument. They are mechanisms for the protection of human life.

FCC Chair Brendan Carr Opens Up Probe of NPR/PBS Advertising, or ‘Underwriting’

January 30, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Newsbusters

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr opened up a probe of NPR and PBS Thursday over their airing of commercial announcements. The New York Times warned of a “politicized” debate over public broadcasting. They don’t want any debate. To suggest it tilts left “politicizes” it. But somehow, to tilt left is….not politicizing things? Apparently, liberal bias is the desirable norm. Anything the disrupts it is “politicized.”

Reporters Benjamin Mullen and David McCabe began:

The chairman of the Federal Communications Commission has waded into the politicized debate over NPR and PBS, ordering up an investigation that he said could be relevant in lawmakers’ decision about whether to continue funding the public news organizations.

In this piece, Carr questioned if these commercial messages undermine the notion of non-commercial broadcasting:

“To the extent that these taxpayer dollars are being used to support a for-profit endeavor or an entity that is airing commercial advertisements,” Mr. Carr wrote, “then that would further undermine any case for continuing to fund NPR and PBS with taxpayer dollars.”

Many underwriting announcements on NPR come from its progressive foundation backers, which give you hints about the tilt. PBS News Hour routinely touts its support from American Cruise Lines, BNSF Railways, Consumer Cellular, and Raymond James financial services.

NPR CEO Katharine Maher issued a statement: “We are confident any review of our programming and underwriting practices will confirm NPR’s adherence to these rules.”Likewise, PBS announced it had worked “diligently to comply with the F.C.C.’s underwriting regulations.” Both NPR and PBS played up their “educational programming.”

The Times ended their story with two leftist defenders of public broadcasting, but refrains from identifying them as on the Left — the standard practice.

Alex Griffing at Mediaite quoted from NPR media reporter David Folkenflik, but his quote contained several false claims: “Underwriting has been an increasingly important part of public broadcasting finances in recent decades as federal and state governments have pulled back from such funding. On average, NPR receives about 1 percent of its funding directly from the federal government each year, according to publicly available materials. PBS receives 16 percent, according to a network spokesperson.”

Federal funding through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting has steadily climbed over time, and now stands at around $535 million a year. NPR routinely lies with this “one percent” claim — watch for the weasel word “directly” — since CPB sends millions to NPR stations all across the country and then they send it back to NPR as payments for NPR programs.

You can bet that the leftist “public” broadcasters see this as a double threat: deny their federal funds or deny their corporate underwriting funds. The “public” broadcasting system has long demonstrated the worst combination of a public-private partnership. They take revenue from all sources and pump out reliable left-wing propaganda.

Trump Sets Saturday Deadline for 25% Tariffs on Mexico and Canada to Force Action on Illegal Migration and Fentanyl Crisis

President Donald Trump has set a Saturday deadline to impose a 25% tariff on all imports from Mexico and Canada.

The administration asserts that these tariffs will remain until both neighboring countries take substantial measures to curb the flow of unauthorized migrants and illicit drugs into the United States.

This announcement follows a recent agreement with Colombia, where the threat of similar tariffs led the Marxist president to fold like a cheap suit and begin accepting deported migrants.

In a statement from the Oval Office Thursday, President Trump emphasized the urgency of the situation.

“Mexico and Canada have never been good to us on trade. They’ve treated us very unfairly on trade,” Trump said.

“We’ll be announcing the tariffs on Canada and Mexico for a number of reasons. Number one is the people that have poured into our country so horribly and so much.

“Number two are the drugs, fentanyl and everything else that have come into the country. Number three are the massive subsidies that we’re giving to Canada and to Mexico in the form of deficits.

“I’ll be putting the tariff of 25% on Canada and separately 25% on Mexico. We will really have to do that because we have very big deficits with those countries. Those tariffs may or may not rise with time,” Trump said.

When asked about whether he would impose tariffs on Canadian and Mexican oil, Trump said, “We may or may not. We’re going to make that determination probably tonight.”

President Donald Trump emphasized the United States’ self-sufficiency in natural resources, particularly in lumber and oil. He remarked.

He also mentioned the possibility of imposing tariffs on China.

Trump:
“We have all the trees you need—meaning the lumber. We have more than almost anybody in those two categories. In oil, we have more than anybody, and we don’t need anybody’s trees. We have to free up some of the tree areas that we have. We have great lumber in this country, and we have to free them up environmentally, which I can do very quickly. But we don’t need what they have.

For us to be subsidizing Canada to the tune of $175 billion a year and subsidizing Mexico to the tune of $250 billion to $300 billion a year—it’s absurd. Mexico is being used as a method for China to send in its product.

With China, I’m also thinking about something because they’re sending fentanyl into our country, causing hundreds of thousands of deaths. China is going to end up paying a tariff for that, and we’re in the process of making that happen. We’ll determine what that tariff will be, but China has to stop sending fentanyl into our country and killing our people.”

BREAKING: President Trump just dropped another nuke, saying after tariffs on Mexico and Canada go into effect, China will be next.

“China is going to end up paying a tariff also. China has to stop sending fentanyl into our country and killing our people.”

Victor Reacts: TikTokers Fantasize About Fighting ICE Agents? (VIDEO)

January 30, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: Gateway Pundit, INVESTIGATIONS

A strange trend of liberal women on TikTok seemingly fantasizing about fighting ICE agents in on the rise.

One user posted a video with the text, “ICE can now raid hospitals. Show up on my unit and I’ll show you why I am my father’s daughter.” Seemingly insinuating that she would fight federal law enforcement officers in defense of criminal illegal aliens.

The concept of law enforcement arresting suspects at hospitals is not as new one. Police are allowed to arrest people at hospitals, and they do.

CBS News reported,

Hours after Mr. Trump’s inauguration, his administration revoked a policy that prohibited arrests by U.S. immigration agents at or near schools, places of worship and other “sensitive locations.”

The Department of Homeland Security has followed a policy since 2011 that restricted ICE enforcement actions, including arrests, interviews, searches and surveillance, at “sensitive” locations such as schools, churches and hospitals.

Under former President Joe Biden, the department issued a policy in 2021 that expanded on the definitions of what is considered “protected areas” for both ICE and Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

If these TikTokers are planning on the ill-advised idea of fist fighting federal law enforcement on behalf of gang members, rapists, and drug dealers, it looks like they will have plenty of opportunity.

The Gateway Pundit reported,

The Trump administration has issued a quota of 1,800 arrests per day by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) nationwide.

According to a report from the New York Post, the agency’s 25 offices must make at least 75 arrests each day to meet the quota.

Since President Trump took office less than 10 days ago, ICE has made approximately 4,500 arrests.

Speaking to CNN on Tuesday, White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller explained that the quota is a “floor, not a ceiling.”

“So first of all, the numbers you cited are a floor, not a ceiling. Very importantly, they’re a floor. The goal is to arrest at least that many, but hopefully many more,” Miller said.

Personally, something tells me that the fathers of these women would prefer if their daughters made smarter choices.

My doctor bullied me over vaccines. RFK will end the intimidation.

January 30, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, The Blaze

The left has spent the last year fearmongering about RFK Jr. and his stance on vaccines, and the attacks are only getting more volatile and desperate as his confirmation hearings rage on.

What the left has failed to admit or accept is that RFK Jr. does not want to rid the American health care system of vaccines but rather hold manufacturers liable and give American citizens the right to choose whether or not they want to give them to their children or take them themselves.

Allie Beth Stuckey of “Relatable” couldn’t be more thrilled with RFK’s stance — especially as a mother who has undergone intense pressure and scrutiny from her medical doctors to vaccinate her children.

“I don’t know if I’ve ever talked about this, but I started having some questions for my pediatricians when my oldest was a baby, and it just seemed like a lot. It just seemed like a lot at once, when they’re really little, and so I had some questions, especially as a new mom,” Stuckey explains.

While Stuckey had her first child before COVID hit, she couldn’t help feeling that something was off with her pediatrician’s response to her questions.

“I was just curious before all of that, like ‘Where do we get the science for the schedule?’ And ‘This is so much more than when I was a baby,’ and ‘What’s the reason for that?’ and ‘Is it okay to space them out?’ I just wanted to know, and I felt completely shut down by my pediatrician,” she says.

“First of all, I didn’t get any answers,” she continues. “And when I started to ask about, ‘Okay, well, what about this kind of adjusted schedule or something like that,’ I was told, ‘As you know, there’s no science backing your position. As long as you know that, there’s no medical necessity behind what you might choose to do, as long as you know that there’s no foundation to your concerns or your curiosities.’”

“It came to the point where I would not go to a pediatrician appointment without my husband because I felt like I was being made to feel stupid for just asking things, and if anything causes skepticism, it is being made to feel like you cannot ask a question,” she adds.

Stuckey isn’t alone in her experience, as mothers all over the country have reported feeling pressured by pediatricians to pump their children full of vaccines within the first year of their lives.

“A lot of parents go through this bullying in the doctor’s office, and if RFK being the head of the HHS at least changes that, gives parents more information and more power and changes the culture so that maybe doctors don’t feel like they have to be so defensive, because doctors really don’t spend a lot of time in med school learning about vaccines, but they should,” Stuckey says.

“They should know everything about them. They should know the benefits, they should know the risks, they should know the ingredients, they should be able to answer questions in a very cheery and helpful way that should be the norm,” she continues.

“I’m not saying that RFK has the power to change all of that as one individual, but I do think he has a lot of it. And I think no matter where you stand on vaccines, that would be a benefit for everyone,” she adds.

Ram, Jeep, Dodge rev up US car production in another Trump win

January 30, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, The Blaze

Buckle up: Stellantis has joined the MAGA movement.

Maybe not officially, but the huge auto conglomerate has reversed its plans to move production to Mexico— something on the table after escalating tensions with the UAW, beginning with the union’s 2023 strike.

The company’s smartest move? Bringing back performance expert Tim Kuniskis and putting him in charge of the Ram truck line.

Stellantis’ decision might have something to do with Trump’s threat to slap 100% tariffs on anything it ships from south of the border.

It also might have to do with the realization that the company — which owns Ram, Jeep, Dodge, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, and other brands — is badly in need of a course correction after the resignation of CEO Carlos Tavares in December.

At any rate, the company is doing its best to stay on the new administration’s good side.

Ram tough

In a letter to employees, Stellantis North America COO Antonio Filosa revealed that group chairman John Elkann met with Trump ahead of his inauguration and noted Trump’s “enthusiasm” for his strong commitment to the U.S. and growing jobs and the U.S. economy.

Filosa echoed this sentiment, confirming a number of specific actions it will take to “entail a multibillion-dollar investment in our people, great products, and innovative technology, all here in the U.S.”

The company’s smartest move? Bringing back performance expert Tim Kuniskis and putting him in charge of the Ram truck line.

He’ll be overseeing production of Ram’s first new midsize pickup — its first since 2011 — at the company’s Belvidere, Illinois, assembly plant. Stellantis shut down production of the plant’s Jeep Cherokee in 2023, a move that helped lead to the UAW strike.

The reopening of the Belvidere plant should return approximately 1,500 UAW members to work.

Durango deal

In addition, the company will move forward with plans to build the next-generation Dodge Durango SUV at its Detroit Assembly Complex. There had been rumors that Stellantis would move Durango production to Canada — prompting the UAW to file charges with the National Labor Relations Board.

Stellantis also confirmed new investment in its Toledo assembly plant — where it makes the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator — reversing its earlier plans to lay off workers and cut production. Both vehicles will be getting additional tech and other features.

Tooling operations at the Toledo plant will also be expanded, allowing the company to make more “critical” components in-house.

Likewise, Stellantis will beef up its Kokomo, Indiana, plant in order to produce a new four-cylinder engine, “ensuring that the U.S. will be the manufacturing home of this strategic powertrain,” Filosa said.

Making friends

It’s worth noting that Stellantis donated $1 million to Trump’s inauguration, as did Toyota, Ford, and GM.

Neither Stellantis nor Toyota donated to Biden’s inauguration in 2021. Ford and GM did but only to the tune of $250,000 and $500,000, respectively.

Looks like everybody’s ready to play nice in the hopes that Trump will make good on his promises to abolish strict vehicle emission regulations, remove tax credits for EVs, use tariffs to bring back automotive jobs, and make auto loan interest completely tax deductible.

Stellantis will have more to say about its plans at the end of February; as always, we will be watching.

WATCH: Illinois Governor and Chicago Mayor are Preventing ICE from Deporting Hundreds of Illegals in Local Jails

January 30, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: Gateway Pundit, INVESTIGATIONS

Real America’s Voice correspondent Ben Bergquam

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, both Democrats, are reportedly blocking ICE agents from entering prisons and jails to deport hundreds of illegal aliens in the sanctuary city of Chicago.

Real America’s Voice correspondent Ben Bergquam reports that there are about 300 illegal aliens in jail with ICE detainer requests, but leftist Chicago officials will not let ICE take them to be deported.

An immigration detainer is a request from ICE that asks local law enforcement agencies, including jails and prisons, to “notify the requesting agency as early as possible before they release a removable alien” and “hold the alien for up to 48 hours beyond the time they would ordinarily release them so DHS has time to assume custody in accordance with federal immigration law,” according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. “Immigration detainers are requests from federal law enforcement officers and agents, and officials only lodge them against aliens when there’s probable cause to believe that the person is removable from the United States under federal immigration law.”

“You’re going to see the federal government come after these cities and states in a way we’ve never seen before,” Berguam said. “I think we’re going to see defunding of sanctuary communities that don’t allow these ICE officers into their jails.”

As The Gateway Pundit recently reported, Illinois officials are working to sabotage the Trump administration’s mass deportation efforts through legislative changes and preventing Chicago Police from working with the Federal government to remove illegals involved in drug crimes, gang-related crimes, prostitution, human trafficking, or child sex crimes.

The far-left Governor, JB Pritzker, was also recently caught making up a hoax, claiming that ICE agents raided an elementary school in Chicago last Friday.

Another Hoax Blows Up! Democrat Gov Pritzker, Fake News Media Falsely Claim ICE Agents Raided Chicago Elementary School – Here’s What Really Happened

Ben Bergquam shared more on Bannon’s War Room about Illinois officials’ defiance of ICE detainer requests for illegal aliens.

Watch below:

Bannon: Pritzker’s, you know, he’s walking around preening, that’s a big victory. He’s standing down Homan and Trump. What’s your forecast, since you’re riding shotgun out there, what’s your forecast on this?

Bergquam: Well, yesterday was the kickoff of this, and I had the opportunity to ride with the Acting Deputy Attorney, Emil Bove, and he was there with me. I was actually in the car. I had a long opportunity to talk with him, and he was there to see just how bad it was, and he was shocked. He was absolutely shocked. So, you’re going to see the federal government come after these cities and states in a way we’ve never seen before. I think we’re going to see defunding of sanctuary communities that don’t allow these ICE officers into their jails.

Just to give you an idea, the ICE agent that I was with yesterday said there’s 300 being held with detainers right now that they will not let have— they will not give to ICE. So, they should be picking these guys up by the hundreds. And we spent millions of dollars yesterday to get a few of these guys off the street.

Bannon: Repeat that to the audience. How many?

Bergquam: 300, as of yesterday, just in Chicago is what the ice agent I was riding with told me.

Bannon: Bove is the number three guy in the Justice Department. He’s one of President Trump’s lawyers. This guy’s a heavy hitter. Are you telling me he was shocked? It’s tough to shock him. You tell me he’s shocked?

Bergquam: He was, I would even say, outraged. He could not believe what these guys— look, Steve, these guys are ICE agents. They’re not, you know, they’re not able to go down, bust down doors and get most of these guys. They’re getting administrative warrants to go; they have to knock on the door and wait for the people to walk out of the door.

We had one guy looking out the window refusing to come to the door, and we had to leave! I mean, that’s how insane this is. So, they wanted to test the waters and see how bad it was, and Bove and Homan, these guys got to see it is catastrophic. And what we have to have, you have to defund these guys, you have to go directly after Johnson, you have to go directly after Pritzker, and then again, Dragnet, and start rounding them up, because you’re right, it’s a drop in the bucket of what we have to do to secure this country.

Bannon: Ben, as you’re riding with Homan? What’s the what’s the spirit out there with the ICE agents? What’s the spirit with Homan? Where do we stand? Are people pumped up? Are they depressed? Where do we stand with all that?

Bergquam: Yeah, they’re pumped up to be able to do their job, but, you know, one of them said it’s like drinking out of a fire hose, you know, going from what they had to do before, what they were forced to do, not do their jobs. Now, the task that’s in front of them, it almost seems insurmountable. That’s why it’s so critical that we get the 287G program rolling out in all the conservative areas. Now, obviously, in a state like Illinois, communist state like this, that’s given their state over to illegals, 287G doesn’t apply, but everywhere else across the country, it does.

We’ve got to empower our sheriffs. You see what’s happening in some of the states; Mississippi and Louisiana are talking about doing some bounty hunter operations. You’ve got to come from all directions on this. But first things first, we got to go after these governors, mayors, everyone who’s running these sanctuary cities, and hold them accountable.

California Dems Abruptly Nix Vote on Newsom Plan To ‘Trump-Proof’ State, Avoiding Public Debate Over Funding That Protects Illegals With Felony Convictions

January 30, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Washington Free Beacon

California Democratic lawmakers suddenly canceled Thursday’s vote on their high-profile $50 million plan to fight President Donald Trump with no clear timeline for moving forward. The delay came as Republicans threatened to force a public debate on an amendment that would prohibit funds from being used to protect illegal immigrants with felony convictions from being deported.

The state assembly on Thursday morning was set to approve $50 million in taxpayer funds for Gov. Gavin Newsom (D.) to split evenly between the California Department of Justice and various nonprofits. The $25 million earmarked for the Department of Justice would bankroll lawsuits against Trump’s policies, while the other $25 million would bankroll nonprofit legal services, including deportation defenses for illegal immigrants.

Yet shortly after Democrats convened, they called an unexpected recess and huddled behind closed doors for nearly an hour before adjourning for the week. Assembly speaker Robert Rivas’s spokeswoman did not respond to the Washington Free Beacon’s queries about what happened but provided a printed-out statement given to reporters in the state capitol.

“In the Assembly, we are going to look closely at the special session legal defense bills to ensure they are airtight and protect all Californians,” the statement read.

Ahead of the scheduled floor debate, Republican assembly members planned to force their Democratic colleagues to vote on four proposed amendments, which were shared with the Free Beacon. Assemblywoman Leticia Castillo planned to introduce an amendment that would have barred any legal aid money from funding the deportation defenses for illegal aliens with felony convictions, according to assembly minority leader James Gallagher’s office.

During a Monday hearing on the $50 million plan, assemblyman Bill Essayli (R.) repeatedly pressed Newsom administration officials and legislative staffers for guarantees that no taxpayer money would protect convicted felons. They couldn’t give him those assurances.

On Thursday, two sources told KCRA that Newsom himself asked the legislature to change the legislation so it would be clear the money would not fund legal assistance for illegal immigrants with felony convictions. A Newsom spokesman did not address those claims in a statement to the Free Beacon, saying only that the governor “will take action on these measures when they reach his desk.”

“It’s becoming harder and harder to see how they could get a win out of this,” a Republican aide told the Free Beacon.

Newsom announced that he would call the special session two days after the November election, directing the legislature to develop a resistance plan. During Trump’s first term, California sued the president’s administration 123 times at a cost of about $41 million, according to a CalMatters analysis.

Both Newsom and Democratic lawmakers wanted to have the money appropriated and at the governor’s disposal before Trump’s Jan. 20 inauguration. Yet shortly after legislators reconvened in early January, wildfires began torching Los Angeles in the costliest disaster in U.S. history.

Republicans in the legislature called on Democrats to ax the special session on Trump and focus on wildfire relief instead. Essayli wrote a letter to Newsom, who was already facing criticism for the state’s failure to protect against wildfires, asking him to jettison his “Trump-proofing” plans for a special session to address the wildfires.

Still, Democratic leaders didn’t postpone their hearings until flames threatened the assembly budget committee chair’s district. Newsom then asked lawmakers for $2.5 billion in wildfire relief aid, which they approved last week before returning to their anti-Trump funding.

Under the existing plan, the legislature would send some $10 million for the California Department of Social Services to fund nonprofit grants or contracts for immigration legal services and removal defense. The department last year shelled out $37 million in grants to pro-migration nonprofits like Al Otro Lado, Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, and Chinese for Affirmative Action, the Free Beacon has reported.

Another $5 million would go to the nonprofit California Access to Justice Commission to expand its grants to legal aid groups. The commission’s top-funded nonprofits have included the California Collaborative for Immigrant Justice, which works to release detained illegal immigrants, and Centro Legal de la Raza, a nonprofit firm that sues to fight detention of illegal immigrants as well as landlords and employers over alleged violations.

An additional $10 million, earmarked for the California State Bar’s Legal Services Trust-Fund Commission, could help illegal immigrants as well. The legislature has designated this money for legal services for indigent people at risk of detention, deportation, eviction, wage theft, and more. The commission already sends money to pro-immigration nonprofits like the Center for Gender and Refugee Studies at UC Law San Francisco, Al Otro Lado, and the LGBT Asylum Project in San Francisco, which says its clients come to the city’s Castro District, a gay tourism hub, “to find a sanctuary.”

Expropriation without Compensation: South African “Unity” Government Passes Land Grab Law

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has signed a bill into law that will allow the government to seize property from farmers based on their skin color. Farmers’ rights organization AfriForum vowed to fight the Expropriation Bill in court, and the second-largest ruling party threatened to leave the coalition.

So-called “Expropriation without Compensation” has been debated in South Africa for many years, as the left-wing African National Congress (ANC) party complained that the majority of land is still in the hands of white farmers. In reality, the largest share of land in South Africa (14%) is owned by the government. On Jan. 23,  President Cyril Ramaphosa signed the Expropriation Bill into law:

“Local, provincial and national authorities will use this legislation to expropriate land in the public interest for varied reasons that seek, among others, to promote inclusivity and access to natural resources.” The law expressly allows the government to take away farms if “the expropriating authority has without success attempted to reach an agreement with the owner or holder of a right in property for the acquisition thereof on reasonable terms.”

Non-white Landowners own 26.7% of agricultural land and control more than 46% of South Africa’s agricultural potential, News 24 reported. “Twice as much land has been transferred to black entrepreneurs and farmers through ordinary commercial purchases than the state has managed to buy for black owners as part of its land redistribution programme,” a study found.

South Africa has been governed by a “Government of National Unity” (GNU) since the ANC lost its absolute majority in 2024, which it held since the end of Apartheid in 1994. The ANC currently rules together with the second-largest party, the reform-oriented Democratic Alliance, the majority Zulu Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), and the right-wing Patriotic Alliance (PA).

Now, that coalition is in danger of falling apart after less than one year.

DA Leader John Steenhuisen said that recent weeks have made it increasingly clear that the ANC “has lost interest in honoring its side of the relationship.” The ANC had “taken to openly disrespecting partners and undermining the trust upon which any coalition government is built.”

In his statement at the ANC’s January 8 anniversary, President Ramaphosa was quoted as saying that although the ANC failed to secure more than 50 percent in the elections, “the ANC is still in charge,” Steenhuisen said, calling Ramaphosa’s behavior “immature.”

Steenhuisen chided the ANC Minister of Health Aaron Motsoaledi for “declaring war” on the Government of National Unity at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where Motsoaledi told world leaders he is fighting a “war” against the people of South Africa.

“This is not how mature colleagues behave,” Steenhuisen said, calling it “arrogant and disrespectful.”

Minority civil rights organization AfriForum stated it will launch “substantial legal action to protect private property rights” in South Africa “in the event that the government targets property for expropriation without compensation.”

“AfriForum will do everything in its power to protect citizens against expropriation without compensation. We seem to be the last real lines of defense left,” said AfriForum spokesman Ernst van Zyl, stating the government “has declared war on private property owners with the signing of this Bill into law.”.

AfriForum announces three-point plan to fight Expropriation Act

“Expropriation without compensation is not a policy with a history, it is a policy with a criminal record.”

AfriForum today announced a three-point plan to fight the Expropriation Act at a media conference in Centurion: “Wherever the undermining of private property rights has occurred, such as in Zimbabwe and Venezuela, it has had catastrophic economic consequences. We must therefore use every option available to us in our resistance against this destructive law,” said AfriForum spokesman Van Zyl.

On Jan, 24, the ANC government also proposed a 100 billion Rand ($5.361 billion), slush fund or “Transformation Fund” for “economic redress and inclusive growth” following the racist quotas of the so-called Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) Act, which obligates the government to “increase the effective economic participation of black-owned and managed enterprises, including small, medium, and micro enterprises and cooperatives, and enhance their access to financial and non-financial support.”

B-BBEE are essentially race quotas for all South African businesses and ownership that serve as a gargantuan self-enrichment program for corrupt ANC officials.

President Cyril Ramaphosa was a union activist all his career and is accused of having ordered the police massacre of 34 striking miners at the Marikana mines 2012. He is now one of Africa’s wealthiest people, with an estimated net worth of $450 million.

South Africa currently has over 141 race laws, of which at least 116 came into effect after the advent of “democracy” in South Africa in 1994. AfriForum has published a detailed report on racist legislation in South Africa, available here.

The government has also passed the so-called BELA law (Basic Education Laws Amendment), which gives the government the right to regulate Afrikaans-language schools. AfriForum has called the BELA Bill “an attempt at cultural ethnic cleansing by the ANC government,” as the implementation of the Bill “will enable the destruction of a linguistic and cultural community’s schools, thereby jeopardising the group’s cultural existence.”

Afrikaans schools, monuments and institutions are under constant attack in South Africa. English and Afrikaner place names have already been largely eliminated and Afrikaans has been banned as a language at university level. The civil rights organizations Solidarity, AfriForum and the Solidarity Support Centre for Schools (SCS) have started legal action against the BELA Act.
