FAKE NEWS: ABC, CBS Misrepresent OMB Funding Memo Pullback

January 30, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Newsbusters

If there was any doubt that the Regime Media have fully transitioned back into Resistance Mode, one need look no further than coverage of the Office of Management and Budget’s pullback of its funding freeze memo. Without evidence, ABC and CBS misrepresented the rescission of the memo as a full rescission of the decision to freeze funding for certain government programs.

The most egregious instance of this comes via ABC’s Mary Bruce, former Biden Chief Apple Polisher, who uses a partial and out of context quote in order to misrepresent a complete pullback of the funding freeze:

MARY BRUCE: Still, this morning, The White House was adamant.

KAROLINE LEAVITT: The American people should not be confused about this.

BRUCE: But just hours later, in that two-sentence memo, the administration rescinding the freeze in funding. The White House still insists the president’s plan to root out spending that doesn’t align with his agenda, like diversity, equity and inclusion programs, climate initiatives, and foreign aid will be rigorously implemented.

Note that “will be rigorously implemented” is a citation presented without attribution, in support of Bruce’s presentation of The White House’s position as some sort of weird funds freeze hopium after publishing its rescission of the underlying memo. Had Bruce used the full quote, her premise of a retreat would’ve been blown to bits. And who, you ask, did Bruce deceptively misquote? None other than White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt:

This is NOT a rescission of the federal funding freeze.
It is simply a rescission of the OMB memo.
Why? To end any confusion created by the court’s injunction.
The President’s EO’s on federal funding remain in full force and effect, and will be rigorously implemented.
— Karoline Leavitt (@PressSec) January 29, 2025
Leavitt was crystal clear but Resistance Media does not let facts get in the way of a good narrative: the (fake) narrative being, in this case, the Trump White House taking a rare L after a week and a half of shock and awe. The gross misrepresentation of Leavitt’s quote is, by definition, the fakest of fake news.

The New CBS Evening News was just as fake, but more succinctly fake:

CBS EVENING NEWS

1/29/25

6:38 PM

JOHN DICKERSON: We have an update on Monday’s late-night order from The White House freezing some federal grants and loans. The order led to a lot of confusion and legal challenges, and the President has now rescinded it.

That’s it- that was CBS’s full report on the memo.

NBC included the memo within its D.C. roundup, but reported it with more honesty than anyone else, and all it took was this one line:

GARRETT HAAKE: The White House says the underlying orders freezing funding for DEI, climate, and other targeted programs are still in place.

The difference is that, unlike ABC’s Mary Bruce, Haake didn’t negatively frontload his citation of The White House, or tried to discredit it with partial quotes.

It’s been a little over a week into the Second Trump Administration but the fake news media are back to their old tricks, proving they still don’t understand what happened this past November.

ABC WORLD NEWS TONIGHT

1/29/25

6:40 PM

DAVID MUIR: Tonight, there’s also breaking news involving President Trump’s move to freeze funding for federal aid programs affecting millions of Americans, after 48 hours of confusion over programs like Head Start and Meals on Wheels, and the Medicaid portal being shut down for a time. Tonight, an about face from The White House. Rescinding that funding freeze. Here’s Mary Bruce.

MARY BRUCE: After 48 hours of chaos and concern that millions of seniors and children would lose aid programs they count on, tonight, a stunning about-face from the Trump administration. Now rescinding its sweeping directive to temporarily freeze trillions of dollars in federal funding that could have had major impacts.

DONALD TRUMP: We are merely looking at parts of the big bureaucracy where there has been tremendous waste and fraud and abuse.

BRUCE: But the president still hasn’t specified what funding exactly he wants to cut. The freeze, designed to follow through on his executive orders to overhaul government spending. But the move immediately sparking questions. The Medicaid portal going down for a time in the confusion, though The White House now saying it wasn’t even supposed to be affected by the freeze, leaving Americans wondering: what comes next? Monsignor Alfred La Pinto from Catholic Charities in New York, one of the organizations that administers Head Start, worried.

MSGR. ALFRED La PINTO: The most immediate threat would be in our child care programs.

BRUCE: Steve Monroe from Virginia, one of the 2.2 million seniors that relies on Meals on Wheels, says he would be devastated.

STEVE MONROE: Doing something to — to stop or cut the organization off is going to hurt thousands of people.

BRUCE: Still, this morning, The White House was adamant.

But tonight, a federal judge struggling to decipher what The White House’s intention is, vowing to block any kind of funding freeze going forward. This, as more than 2 million federal employees have been given a stark choice via mass email. Resign and be paid until the end of September, or risk losing their jobs. Those interested in the buyout told to respond with the word “Resign” and hit “Send.” Trump confidant Elon Musk, who used strikingly similar methods to slash Twitter’s workforce when he took over the company, calling it “very generous”, and appearing to laugh at the simple instructions. Unions representing federal workers from Forest Service firefighters to V.A. nurses say this isn’t a voluntary buyout but a purge.

FEDERAL EMPLOYEE: They’re scared. They’re scared that they’re not going to have a job. They’re scared that they’re not going to be able to, you know, pay the bills, take care of their families.

BRUCE: And the union is stressing that this could have wide-ranging impacts on everyone from doctors who care for veterans, to firefighters to civilians who work at the Department of Defense, and the union isn’t confident that the administration will be obligated to pay these employees through September if they do resign. Their message to federal workers tonight — do not resign. David.

MUIR: Our Chief White House Correspondent, Mary Bruce.

NBC NIGHTLY NEWS

1/29/25

6:35 PM

LESTER HOLT: After a day of confusion and criticism The White House reversed course, rescinding that memo freezing some federal assistance. And while the president announced dramatic new plans for Guantanamo Bay. Garrett Haake now, with late details.

GARRETT HAAKE: Tonight after rolling out hundreds of executive orders and actions in his first week, President Trump with a rare walkback. The Office of Management and Budget saying it has rescinded its controversial memo appearing to freeze federal funding for programs across the government. That Monday memo had paused, quote,  “grant, loan or federal financial assistance programs that might run counter to the president’s executive orders.”

DONALD TRUMP: Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid have not been affected by any action we are taking in any way, shape or form. We are merely looking at parts of the big bureaucracy where there is tremendous waste, fraud, and abuse.

HAAKE: The White House says the underlying orders freezing funding for DEI, climate, and other targeted programs are still in place. But all of it temporarily blocked by a federal judge.

PATTY MURRAY: Their explanations have created no clarity or certainty. (VIDEO SWIPE) There are a lot of programs they are saying won’t be affected. When that is not what organizations across the country are experiencing.

HAAKE: And tonight, another sweeping order amid President Trump’s escalating crackdown on illegal immigration nationwide. He announced the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security will begin prepping the Navy’s Guantanamo Bay facility to hold detained migrants.

TRUMP: We have 30,000 beds in Guantanamo to detain the worst criminal illegal aliens threatening the American people.

HAAKE: The massive Navy base in Cuba still holds 15 terror detainees and has been used to temporarily house migrants before.

What kind of civilian oversight would there be?

TOM HOMAN: ICE has the highest detention standards in the industry. You can’t find another state, federal, local or city that has higher detention standards than us.

HAAKE: All while the president signed his first bill into law. The bipartisan Laken Riley Act, which requires the detention of undocumented migrants accused of theft and violent crimes. Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student was murdered by an undocumented Venezuelan migrant who was previously released after he was arrested for shoplifting.

ALLYSON PHILLIPS: There is no amount of change that will bring back our precious Laken. Our hope moving forward is that her life saves lives.

HAAKE: And there’s new fallout tonight from the president’s buyout offer emailed to nearly every federal employee last night, which The White House says could save tens of billions.

TRUMP:  We think a very substantial number of people will not show up to work and therefore our government will get smaller and more efficient.

HAAKE: But Democrats urging federal workers not to accept.

TIM KAINE: You don’t have any authority to do this. Do not be fooled by this guy.

HAAKE: Army vet George Buchanan has worked for the VA for nearly 11 years.

What was the reaction when you first saw this email last night?

GEORGE BUCHANAN: Um- a little shocked. I thought it was combative, condescending, insulting, especially as a veteran.

HOLT: Garrett, if we can circle back to that announcement to send detained migrants to Gitmo, it took some at the Pentagon by surprise, we understand.

HAAKE: Yes, Lester. Five Defense officials tell us many people at The Pentagon were caught completely off guard and the military has no current orders or guidance from The White House beyond this brief order from the president. Tonight, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said this will require money from Congress, meaning it could take months to fully ramp up. Lester.

HOLT: Okay, Garrett Haake. Thanks.

Breaking: Trump Posts Truth on Reagan Airport Mid-Air Collision: “…It is a CLEAR NIGHT, the lights on the plane were blazing, why didn’t the helicopter go up or down, or turn…”

January 30, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: Gateway Pundit, INVESTIGATIONS

President Trump posted to Truth Social just after midnight Tuesday on the deadly collision near Reagan National Airport between a Army helicopter and a PSA/American Airlines passenger plane. The flight out of Wichita, Kansas was on final approach to Reagan when it appears to have been hit by the helicopter from the right side at about three hundred feet. The helicopter was on a training flight out of nearby Fort Belvoir, Virginia, according to the Army. The plane reportedly had sixty passengers and four crew, while the Army helicopter reportedly had three soldiers aboard. Rescue operations are ongoing at the crash site for both aircraft, located closer to the Maryland side of the Potomac River just south of Washington, D.C.

Trump’s statement:

“The airplane was on a perfect and routine line of approach to the airport. The helicopter was going straight at the airplane for an extended period of time. It is a CLEAR NIGHT, the lights on the plane were blazing, why didn’t the helicopter go up or down, or turn. Why didn’t the control tower tell the helicopter what to do instead of asking if they saw the plane. This is a bad situation that looks like it should have been prevented. NOT GOOD!!!”

“What a terrible night this has been. God bless you all!”

Earlier, the White House issued an official statement by Trump: “I have been fully briefed on the terrible accident which just took place at Reagan National Airport. May God bless their souls. Thank you for the incredible work being done by our first responders. I am monitoring the situation and will provide more details as they arise.”

Trump’s border blitz proves past presidents refused to enforce laws

January 30, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, The Blaze

Donald Trump has launched his second presidential term with a “flood the zone” strategy designed to overwhelm the left before it can mount a response. The real estate mogul, aware of how a hostile media and entrenched Washington bureaucracy hindered his first term, is using the overwhelming mandate from voters to build early momentum.

Among Trump’s many promises, none mattered more to his supporters than swift and substantive action on immigration. His first-week strategy shows he took that commitment seriously. In just seven days, Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducted nationwide raids, arresting thousands of illegal immigrants. Authorities prioritized the most dangerous offenders, ensuring gang members, drug traffickers, and child predators were swiftly removed. The speed of these removals raises one clear question: Was the Biden administration allowing violent illegal aliens to terrorize American citizens?

Trump deserves credit for his bold start and must stay committed to his promise of removing most illegal immigrants from the country.

With Tom Homan serving as border czar, both ICE and the Drug Enforcement Agency launched coordinated raids in major cities, including New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego, Denver, Miami, and Atlanta. Agents entered immigration law offices and targeted “sanctuary cities” like San Francisco. Homan has made it clear he will not hesitate to raid schools, churches, and hospitals if they are found harboring illegal immigrants who pose a threat to public safety.

As Homan recently told an ABC News reporter, “If you’re in the country illegally, you’re on the table.”

Some of Trump’s critics on the right argue that despite the thousands of arrests in his first week, the pace of deportations remains too slow to remove the estimated 20 to 30 million illegal immigrants in the United States within his first term. However, this critique overlooks several key factors.

First, this is only Trump’s first week in office, and many of his key personnel are still awaiting Senate confirmation. Mass deportations require extensive logistical coordination, which cannot be fully implemented until the executive branch is firmly under his control. Given that reality, the scale of his administration’s initial enforcement efforts is already remarkable.

Another flawed assumption is that all illegal immigrants should be rounded up and deported simultaneously. Trump’s team recognizes that foreign governments will resist accepting thousands — if not millions — of their least desirable citizens. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has already voiced opposition to the more than 4,000 deportations to her country in Trump’s first week. Colombian President Gustavo Petro initially refused to accept deportees until Trump threatened tariffs and visa restrictions. Petro quickly relented, even offering his presidential jet for deportation flights.

Rushing to detain millions of illegal immigrants without securing cooperation from their home countries would have been a strategic mistake. It would have forced the administration to hold them in detention facilities, giving the left time to obstruct the process and fueling media narratives about “concentration camps” or “kids in cages.”

By targeting and deporting the most dangerous offenders first, Trump immediately improved public safety while also testing the resolve of foreign leaders. With that precedent established, Homan and his team can now accelerate efforts to remove millions more.

The final flawed assumption in deportation math is that the administration must physically remove all 20 to 30 million illegal immigrants. That was never the plan.

Illegal immigration is largely incentivized by the government, corporations, and progressive NGOs that profit from it. The journey itself is expensive and dangerous — many migrants spend their life savings to make the trip, while women and children often suffer sexual abuse. Most illegal immigrants come because they expect easy entry, government benefits, and protection from deportation.

If the Trump administration continues ramping up deportations while cracking down on illegal employment and welfare, many will self-deport. As opportunities disappear and their friends and family are sent home, staying in the U.S. will become less appealing.

Trump’s aggressive start also exposes the corruption of previous administrations. Without passing a single new law or securing additional funding, he has already deported over 1,000 of the most dangerous criminals. The ease with which these violent offenders were removed suggests that the Biden administration allowed them to stay.

Democrats enabled mass illegal immigration for political gain. They knew that drug dealers, murderers, and sex offenders were here, yet they did nothing. Progressives effectively weaponized these criminals, using them as instruments of anarcho-tyranny against the American people.

Both Republican and Democratic administrations let immigration reach a crisis level. Past presidents had the authority to act but lacked the will. Democrats facilitated what amounted to a foreign invasion, while Republicans feared backlash from the media and their donor class.

With a single show of strength, Trump demonstrated how easily foreign governments could be forced to comply and how swiftly the worst offenders could be expelled. Much work remains, and scaling up full mass deportations presents logistical challenges. But the early results are promising.

Trump deserves credit for his bold start and must stay committed to his promise of removing most illegal immigrants from the country. While Democrats are in retreat for now, they won’t stay that way forever. The Trump administration should accelerate deportations before progressives can regroup and mount a resistance.

Passenger jet collides with military helicopter in Washington, DC; massive emergency rescue efforts under way

January 30, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, The Blaze

A passenger jet collided with a Black Hawk military helicopter in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

Video on social media appeared to capture the moment the helicopter flew into the plane and caused a large fireball before they both went down.

‘This clearly is a tragedy that will change aviation.’

The commercial passenger plane had departed from Wichita, Kansas, and was landing on runway 33 at Reagan National Airport before the collision.

“A PSA Airlines Bombardier CRJ700 regional jet collided in midair with a Sikorsky H-60 helicopter while on approach to Runway 33 at Reagan Washington National Airport around 9 p.m. local time,” read the statement from the FAA. “PSA was operating Flight 5342 for American Airlines.”

Emergency responders are searching for survivors in the Potomac River. The airport has been shut down, and all planes have been grounded.

An early report said the commercial plane carried between 68 and 70 passengers.

“This clearly is a tragedy that will change aviation,” said CNN correspondent Pete Muntean. “This is really staggering that this is happening.”

This is a developing story, and additional information will be added.

Did You Catch Megyn Kelly Laughing at the Buffoon Bernie Sanders During the RFK Jr. Hearing? (VIDEO)

January 29, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: Gateway Pundit, INVESTIGATIONS

Senator Bernie Sanders made an absolute fool of himself at the RFK Jr. hearing today, going off on an unhinged rant about ‘onesies’ for some reason.

Megyn Kelly was at the hearing and sitting not too far behind RFK Jr. on his right side. When Bernie started his ridiculous tirade, Kelly could be seen by the camera, laughing at the absurdity of Bernie’s comments.

The American media either didn’t notice or chose to ignore it, but not the Irish press.

The Irish Star actually reported on this:

Megyn Kelly distracts from RFK Jr. confirmation hearing as she cackles in audience – ‘so ridiculous’

Political commenter Megyn Kelly sat behind Robert Kennedy Jr. during his confirmation hearing, where he faced the Senate’s questions to vet him for the US Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Social media users spotted Kelly cracking up as Democrats grilled Kennedy on his conflicting statements throughout his public political career.

During the hearing, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders goes on a spirited rant, and Kelly is seen giggling at Sander’s presentation. Sanders asked Kennedy if he was supportive of child onesie clothing with anti-vaccination messages, which were being sold on Kennedy’s anti-vaccine non-profit. “Are you supportive of these onesies,” Sanders demanded Kennedy.

Watch this clip and check out Megyn in the background.

NewsBusters Podcast: Lawrence O’Donnell Sounds Delusional on WH Press Patsies

January 29, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: INVESTIGATIONS, Newsbusters

A Daily Caller study of first-week press interactions between Biden and Trump II drove MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell straight into delusional ranting. He claimed the White House press corps are now just polite stenographers of Trump’s lies, that they are uniquely polite to Trump. How insulting it was to NBC’s White House reporters!

The Daily Caller was boasting. “We did it. We triggered Lawrence O’Donnell with our fact-based reporting.” White House reporter Reagan Reese pointed out in Biden’s first week in office (Jan. 20-26, 2001), Biden took just six questions from the White House press corps, according to pool reports. “Some of these questions were answered with just one word.”

By contrast, the Caller found “Trump surpassed that number just several hours after being sworn in as he took 75 total questions and follow-ups over a 48-minute period in the Oval Office while signing executive orders.” Trump took questions from the press 11 times, often for extended periods of time, throughout his first week.

Lawrence O’Donnell was cranky about it:

O’DONNELL: Well, the right-wing, Trump-supporting website The Daily Caller ran a happy headline, for them, saying that Donald Trump, as president, takes more questions than Joe Biden did, as president, and, they’re right. They are very right to use the verb “takes,” instead of the verb “answers.”

Donald Trump takes more questions, publicly, than any president in history, but he answers fewer questions than any president in history, because, a lie is not an answer.  To be a member of the White House Press Corps now, is to become practiced at taking Donald Trump dictation of lies. Which Donald Trump does with a casual confidence, knowing that the White House Press Corps will never scream at him, the way they could scream at Joe Biden whenever they felt like it, whenever they had a chance, whenever they were close enough.

This is delusional. Screaming Jim Acosta, anyone?

Our Managing Editor Curtis Houck tweeted three minutes of NBC’s Peter Alexander pressing Karoline Leavitt about the kerfuffle and hubbub over the temporary spending freeze, the anti-Trump freakout of the day. Somehow Larry is painting Peter as a worthless footstool for MAGA.

O’Donnell really leaned into this “polite for Trump” spin:

O’ DONNELL: Here’s a sample  of some of the things that the White House Press Corps said to the White House Press Secretary, who was more than a week late in delivering her first so-called press briefing:

‘Welcome.’ ‘You look great.’ ‘Isn’t this true?’ ‘You’re doing a great job.’ ‘I apologize for interrupting.’ ‘If I may.’ ‘Secondly, if you’re willing-’

That’s how they would do a follow up, ‘secondly, if you’re willing.’ It was the most polite session in the White House press briefing room in — let me check — four years.

Because it is the Trump White House press briefing room, there will be no screaming. The White House Press Corps will all sound like reasonable adults, and some of them will sound like fawning fans of the Press Secretary and the President, because the White House Press Corps has a special standard of behavior that they reserve uniquely for the Trump White House.

One of these phrases Larry hates, “I apologize for interrupting.” That WAS Peter Alexander, from Curtis’s clip.

Curtis wrote for us that Leavitt did a fine job on the president’s behalf. He wasn’t alone. Brian Stelter wrote in his CNN newsletter “Leavitt was polished and practiced, and White House reporters speculated afterward that Trump must have been pleased with the nearly hourlong show.”

On Tuesday morning, MSNBC host Ana Cabrera devoted a segment to letting an immigration attorney advise audience members on what they can do to either avoid being arrested by ICE, or assist someone who is being arrested.

After the segment began by showing news clips of immigrants complaining about being afraid because of the ICE raids, Cabrera recounted:

From Baltimore to Las Vegas, reports of fear in immigrant communities as immigration raids have really ramped up significantly since President Trump took office. And now legal advocates are urging undocumented immigrants to learn their rights in case they’re detained because that information could be hard to come by once you’re in ICE custody. Just last week, the DOJ ordered an end to “know your rights” presentations and posters in ICE facilities.

After bringing aboard immigration attorney Ellen Pachnanda of Brooklyn Defenders, the MSNBC host began by asking her guest if she’s receiving lots of phone calls in the current climate, and Pachnanda quickly got into explaining what she thinks possible ICE targets should know and referred to the website WeHaveRights.us which has relevant instruction videos:

And I think it’s important that we remind everyone that, regardless of your immigration status, you have rights. And that’s why we launched “WeHaveRights.us, which, with our partners at the ACLU and the Immigrant Defense Project, are a series of videos that are available online at WeHaveRights.us which outline your rights when ICE is at your door, when ICE approaches you in the street or the community, when arrests you, and, most importantly, when ICE also — when they’re in your home. These are rights that you have, and I can go through the specific rights that individuals have.

As Cabrera followed up, she played a clip of a video from the website on how to deal with ICE agents visiting a private home. The MSNBC host then posed: “If agents show up at your door, what do you do? What can you do? And what are the other tough questions you’re getting?”

Pachnanda recommended that viewers demand a warrant if ICE agents come to their home or approach them on the street, and advised not to divulge information that could help the agents make their case:

Well, if agents show up at your door, do not let them in unless you see a judicially signed warrant. That’s critical because ICE officers do not show up with that — then make sure if for — if you’re approached on the street — if you’re approached in the community, remember you do not have to answer any questions. You do not provide any information about your immigration status. … If, unfortunately, you do get detained by ICE and they approach you and they say you’re under arrest, remain silent, ask for a lawyer, and do not sign any documents when you’re with them.

Cabrera then brought up the possibility of American citizens hiding illegal aliens and asked if it was illegal to do so: “So what about American citizens who want to help protect some of those vulnerable population? Could an American citizen be held legally liable if they tried to hide an undocumented immigrant, for example?”

Pachnanda, instead of informing viewers that helping illegal aliens hide is illegal, she pivoted to recommending that a viewer who witnesses an ICE detention should record it at a safe distance.

MSNBC’s Ana Cabrera Reports

January 28, 2025

10:50 a.m. Eastern

ANA CABRERA: From Baltimore to Las Vegas, reports of fear in immigrant communities as immigration raids have really ramped up significantly since President Trump took office. And now legal advocates are urging undocumented immigrants to learn their rights in case they’re detained because that information could be hard to come by once you’re in ICE custody. Just last week, the DOJ ordered an end to “know your rights” presentations and posters in ICE facilities.

And joining us now, Ellen Pachnanda is the director of the Immigration Practice at Brooklyn Defenders — one of America’s leading organizations offering public defenders for detained immigrants. Ellen, it’s good to have you here. Thank you so much. What is your world like right now? Is the phone just like ringing off the hook?

ELLEN PACHNANDA, BROOKLYN DEFENDER SERVICES: Yes, and I think it’s a lot of clients, as you explained, are in fear. They’re confused about what’s happening, and there’s so much uncertainty.

CABRERA: We actually have a little bit of a clip to play of one of those videos you just mentioned. Let’s listen to that.

VOICE OF NARRATOR: Do not open the door if authorities come to your home no matter what they say. Without a warrant signed by a judge, they have no authority to enter. But beware. ICE may enter your home forcefully anyway. And if they do, you ask them to leave if they don’t have the proper warrant. Be prepared, do not panic, and remember we have rights.

CABRERA: So we learned something in just that short clip. But walk us through it. If agents show up at your door, what do you do? What can you do? And what are the other tough questions you’re getting?

PACHNANDA: Well, if agents show up at your door, do not let them in unless you see a judicially signed warrant. That’s critical because ICE officers do not show up with that — then make sure if for — if you’re approached on the street — if you’re approached in the community, remember you do not have to answer any questions. You do not provide any information about your immigration status. And you should be prepared. You should be prepared and appoint an individual in your life that you trust to care for your children, and that individual should hold onto any identity documents. If, unfortunately, you do get detained by ICE and they approach you and they say you’re under arrest, remain silent, ask for a lawyer, and do not sign any documents when you’re with them.

CABRERA: So what about American citizens who want to help protect some of those vulnerable population? Could an American citizen be held legally liable if they tried to hide an undocumented immigrant, for example?

PACHNANDA: Well, what we have a video also that’s available by witness that we worked with is talking about what you can do as a bystander, right? So if you see these encounters that are on the street, you have a right to record them. If an ICE agent asks you to turn off the recording, then you should stop, but the way that American citizens right now — because so many people want to help everyone in this country who’s facing this fear and facing this possible detention, WeHaveRights has a way to do that — to make sure you’re sharing this information so that people understand, regardless of your immigration status in this country, you have rights. And you have rights under the Constitution and due process, but, in the face of this kind of fear — which that’s what this is causing — you have rights.

CABRERA: Well, thank you so much for coming in here and sharing that important information and offering people a place to go and get more information.

WATCH: Trump Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller Explains What Role Military and Insurrection Act Will Play in Deporting Illegals and Countering Cartels Amid Gunfight Incident at Southern Border

January 29, 2025 Ogghy Filed Under: Gateway Pundit, INVESTIGATIONS

White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller

President Trump’s deputy chief of staff for policy, Stephen Miller, joined CNN’s Jake Tapper on Tuesday and discussed the administration’s plans to use US Military troops to eradicate cartel presence on the Southern Border.

President Trump, immediately after taking office on day one, signed an executive order designating cartel groups as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs) and Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGTs). He further signed an executive order, declaring a national emergency on the Southern Border.

President Trump has already sent US troops to the southern border, and military cargo planes are being used for the first time in history to deport planeloads of illegal aliens from Arizona and Texas.

Miller on Tuesday hinted that Trump may also invoke the Insurrection Act to combat the cartels in line with the “national objective of eradicating their physical presence on US soil.” This law allows the President to deploy the military domestically. President Trump’s executive order to declare a national emergency at the border references the Insurrection Act as “additional actions that may be necessary to obtain complete operational control of the southern border.”

This comes after recent incidents of cartel violence on the Southern Border. As The Gateway Pundit reported, on Monday, Border Patrol agents exchanged gunfire with Mexican drug cartel members who tried to bring a group of illegals over the border in Fronton, Texas.

Border Czar Tom Homan also responded to these developments Wednesday, saying, “the whole of government is going to dismantle these people and wipe them off the face of the earth.” Homan continued, “The Trump administration is going to take them on, just like he did the Caliphate, and we’re going to destroy them.”

Miller says that invoking the Insurrection Act “is still being considered based on operational needs on the southern border” and would be used “specifically in the context of countering that cartel threat.” However, it does not appear that the military will be used to conduct raids on illegal aliens in American cities. “In the interior, it’s going to be about enrolling state and local law enforcement to massively increase the supply of guns and badges to conduct these immigration raids,” Miller says.

The White House deferred to Miller’s comments when we asked how the Trump Administration plans to address the violence from Cartels at the southern border and whether they plan to use military force to combat the Foreign Terrorist Organizations on the border.

Watch below:

Miller: ICE is absolutely prioritizing terrorists, public safety threats, and national security threats. It is also true that Joe Biden admitted some unknowably large number of millions of illegal immigrants into this country, all of whom are ineligible for asylum, ineligible for any form of immigration relief, are ineligible to remain in the country.

So, if you look at public polling on this issue, about 70% of Americans think that everybody that Joe Biden let in should be removed. About 80% of Americans agree that all criminal aliens should be removed. That’s the baseline of public opinion support.

Tapper: So you are going to prioritize the violent criminals, though?

Miller: Yes, but we’re not going to immunize everybody that Joe Biden let in. I mean, let me just, let me ask you a hypothetical and you can treat as a rhetorical question, not answer it if you don’t want to, Jake.

Let’s say that an illegal alien arrived in the last three months of the Biden administration from, say, Peru. He was released. He failed to appear in immigration court.

He was issued a final removal order, showed up, got released, didn’t appear, wasn’t deported, been here for six months. Is it your position, Jake, that that guy should get to stay till the end of his life? I mean, what kind of country can run that way? I mean, no country in the world runs that way.

Tapper: So, let me ask you: President Trump has left the door open to invoking the Insurrection Act, which would allow him to use military forces, US military forces, inside the United States for law enforcement. What would that look like? Are we going to see US troops in American cities arresting undocumented immigrants? Tell us what this is about.

Miller: So, the insurrection act in this context mostly applies to considerations related to the border and the cartel threat. So, we’ve already seen two shooting incidences in the last two days of suspected cartel violence against Border Patrol agents.

President Trump’s clampdown and closure of the southern border has disrupted the flow of funds to the most ruthless and dangerous organizations on planet Earth, like the Sinaloa Cartel, like the Mexican Mafia.

These are organizations that are being designated as foreign terrorist organizations, and the President has set the national objective of eradicating their physical presence on US soil. So, you should understand considerations about the insurrection act in that context.

Tapper: With respect to interior enforcement, that’s where a program known as 287G comes into play, that you’re probably familiar with, and that’s where we’re going to be enrolling state police, local police, local sheriffs, and law enforcement across the nation into federal immigration programs, and that’s how we’re going to significantly increase the arrest numbers.

But is the insurrection act going to possibly be used to use the US military to go after undocumented immigrants in American cities and American towns? Is the door open for that?

Miller: Right now, the Insurrection Act, which is still being considered based on operational needs on the southern border until a decision has been made, is specifically in the context of countering that cartel threat. In the interior, it’s going to be about enrolling state and local law enforcement to massively increase the supply of guns and badges to conduct these immigration raids.
