White House says oil price spike is temporary as Trump pushes energy dominance amid Iran war
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the recent spike in oil prices tied to the escalating Iran conflict will be short-lived, arguing President Donald Trump’s energy dominance strategy will stabilize markets and ease pressure on American consumers.”This is a short-term disruption for the long-term gain of taking out the rogue Iranian terrorist regime and finally ending their restriction of the free flow of energy in the Middle East and in the Strait of Hormuz,” Leavitt told “Sunday Morning Futures.”Leavitt said the administration is taking immediate steps to keep global energy supplies moving despite the conflict. She noted that the president has announced political risk insurance for cargo vessels and oil tankers navigating the Strait of Hormuz, a key chokepoint for approximately 20% of global oil shipments.OPERATION EPIC FURY DESTROYS IRAN’S NAVY AND CUTS MISSILE ATTACKS BY 90% IN ONGOING CAMPAIGNShe added that the U.S. Navy is prepared to escort tankers if necessary to ensure oil continues flowing through the region. The administration is also working to increase supply elsewhere, including by tapping into expanded access to Venezuelan oil markets following the collapse of the Maduro regime.”Look at the success. We are working in a cooperative manner with the interim authorities to bring that oil into the market as expeditiously as possible,” Leavitt said.EXPERT WARNS RADICAL ISLAMIST NETWORKS COULD SHIFT WEST AFTER IRAN REGIME SHAKEUP”Again, this is a short-term disruption. We’re seeing a slight increase in oil and gas prices, but ultimately taking out the rogue Iranian regime is going to be a good thing for the oil industry, and those prices are going to come back down just like they have over the course of the past year because of President Trump’s American energy dominance agenda.”Gas prices climbed higher late last week as the conflict with Iran continued to roil global energy markets, pushing crude oil sharply upward and raising concerns about fuel supplies.U.S. crude, for instance, settled at $90.90 per barrel Friday, a 12.2% jump from the previous day.The national average price for regular gasoline rose to $3.32 per gallon Friday, up from $3.25 Thursday and $2.98 a week prior, according to AAA.

President Trump Put Senate on Notice, Announces He WILL NOT Sign Any Other Bills Until SAVE Act Passes and Demands These Two Changes to the Legislation

President Trump has issued his ultimate ‘trump card’ to pressure the Senate into finally passing the SAVE Act to secure America’s elections once and for all. And he wants them to do a bit of additional work on the legislation as well.
The SAVE Act is an absolutely critical measure that requires every American to show ID to cast a ballot.
It also requires proof of citizenship BEFORE registering to vote.
Democrats are in meltdown mode because, should the measure pass, they will find stealing elections far more challenging.
But Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D) acknowledged that Republicans currently lack the internal cohesion necessary to execute a procedural maneuver called a ‘talking filibuster’ to muscle the SAVE Act through the Senate.
As a result, the bill remains stuck.
As TGP readers know, it takes 60 votes in the Senate to close debate and break a filibuster. Utilizing a talking filibuster in theory would make things more painful on the opposition and cause them, to eventually give up and allow a bill to pass with a simple majority.
On Sunday, Trump made clear he was fed up and issued an ultimatum on Truth Social: no more bills until the SAVE Act is on his desk.
And that’s not all: Trump also said he wanted two additional changes: no mail-in ballots except in necessary circumstances (which the SAVE Act does not limit mail-in voting) and a total ban on transgender mutilation for kids.
“Great Job by hard-working Scott Pressler on Fox & Friends talking about using the Filibuster, or Talking Filibuster, in order to pass THE SAVE AMERICA ACT, an 88% issue with ALL VOTERS,” Trump wrote. It must be done immediately. It supersedes everything else. MUST GO TO THE FRONT OF THE LINE.”
“I, as President, will not sign other Bills until this is passed, AND NOT THE WATERED DOWN VERSION – GO FOR THE GOLD: MUST SHOW VOTER I.D. & PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP: NO MAIL-IN BALLOTS EXCEPT FOR MILITARY – ILLNESS, DISABILITY, TRAVEL: NO MEN IN WOMEN’S SPORTS: NO TRANSGENDER MUTILIZATION FOR CHILDREN! DO NOT FAIL!!!” He added.
Should Trump get his way, that means the DHS will remain shut down until the SAVE Act becomes law, and Thune’s beloved ‘bipartisan’ housing bill will have to wait.
In addition, the House of Representatives would also have to pass the Save Act a third time, with these new demands on mail ballots and trans provisions.
This could create some challenges, particularly amongst more moderate GOPers in blue states.
Upon reading Trump’s post, disgraced Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer fumed, vowing total gridlock to stop the Save Act while calling it “Jim Crow 2.0.”
The SAVE Act is Jim Crow 2.0. It would disenfranchise tens of millions of people.
If Trump is saying he won’t sign any bills until the SAVE Act is passed, then so be it: there will be total gridlock in the Senate.

‘Grotesque Partisanship’: AZ Gov. Katie Hobbs Vetoes Charlie Kirk Memorial License Plate

On March 7, Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs vetoed Senate Bill 1439 that would have allowed Arizonans to purchase a specialty/memorial license plate honoring the late Charlie Kirk.
On September 10, 2025, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was assassinated at an event on the campus of Utah Valley University.
The vanity plate would have created a specialty plate to honor the slain activist, featuring Kirk’s photo and the TPUSA logo, with proceeds benefiting conservative grassroots efforts.
According to Fox News, $17 of the $25 fee would go to the Conservative Grassroots Network Special Plate Fund with funds focused on “restoring traditional values, maintaining a grassroots activist network on high school and college campuses in Arizona, and assisting college students with voter registration and absentee ballots.”
Per Fox News:
In a letter explaining the veto, Hobbs cited concerns with the bill “bring[ing] people together,” claiming it would “insert politics into a function of government that should remain nonpartisan.”
“Charlie Kirk’s assassination is tragic and a horrifying act of violence,” Hobbs wrote. “In America, we resolve our political differences at the ballot box. No matter who it targets, political violence puts us all in harm’s way and damages our sacred democratic institutions.
“I will continue working toward solutions that bring people together, but this bill falls short of that standard.”
Arizona state senator Jake Hoffman (R-15) slammed Hobbs for her far-Left extremism.
“Arizona Democrat Katie Hobbs VETOED the Charlie Kirk Memorial License Plate bill today,” he shared on X.
“My statement on her veto Katie Hobbs’ grotesque partisanship knows no bounds. Even in the wake of a global civil rights leader — an Arizona resident and her own constituent — being assassinated in broad daylight for his defense of the First Amendment, Hobbs couldn’t find the human decency to put her far-Left extremism aside simply to allow those how wish to honor him to do so. Katie Hobbs will forever be known as a stain on the pages of Arizona’s story.”

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), who announced his run for AZ governor in December, slammed Hobbs’ callous move.
“Charlie Kirk was one of America’s most influential voices and leaders,” Biggs wrote on X.
“He made his home in Arizona, building a company and raising a family in this state before he was assassinated because of his political beliefs.”
“Katie Hobbs had a chance to honor Charlie and she vetoed it.”
“A simple license plate for Arizonans to show they stand with Charlie for freedom and Katie Hobbs vetoed it.”
“We should not forget this petty and callous act.”
