The Border Crisis: Coming to a Neighborhood Near You
This article originally appeared on The Conservative Perspective by Ryan Ruyack and was republished with permission.
“We are a nation of immigrants.” “These people come willing to do the jobs Americans aren’t.” “They are refugees escaping hostile environments seeking asylum.” These are just a few of the talking points you have heard from Democrat politicians when asked about the disaster that is the southern border. At least, that was before the issue came to their front door.
Since the Biden administration has been in power, the amount of migrants crossing the southern border has increased immensely and continues to rise with no end in sight.
States like Arizona and Texas have to face this issue the best they possibly can, given the lack of assistance from Democrats and the federal government. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has taken matters into his own hands by sending busloads of migrants to cities all across the country.
What do these cities have in common? They are almost all under Democratic rule and self described as “sanctuary cities.” A perfect example would be New York City, run by Mayor Eric Adams and Gov. Kathy Hochul.
The New York Mess
The state of New York has become another example of failed policy that will, in the end, impact the lives of its citizens in a severely dangerous way. In typical political fashion, an issue concerning the lives of American citizens, as well as those crossing the border, has become nothing more than a blame game.
The NYC Mayor who has stated proudly in the past that NYC would welcome these migrants with open arms, is now singing a different tune. If it wasn’t enough that the Mayor of New York City was boldly stating to send migrants to their areas of jurisdiction, the Governor saw her opportunity to score political points as well.
Both Adams and Hochul are now calling for the Biden administration to offer more federal support for the issue. What is to be expected? Will these migrants be sent back to where they came from? No. Instead, you can expect to see them showing up to your local hotel or motel by the busload.
In an investigation I initiated while at Project Veritas, it was discovered that Mayor Eric Adams and his administration have been brokering deals with hotel owners in upstate New York to house the influx of migrants showing up in NYC.
This has led to local New York government officials taking legal action to prevent the shipping of these migrants into their communities. With the current standard operating procedures of US Customs and Border Protection, it is quite easy for migrants to make their way into the United States without a proper and thorough background check.
Citizens of these communities truly do not know who is being sent into their neighborhoods and whether or not they have a dangerous history. According to data from US Customs and Border Protection, there has been a drastic increase in illegal activity being committed by illegal aliens since 2021.
The State of the Historic Roosevelt Hotel
What better place to house the influx of migrants coming to New York City than the once great and historic Roosevelt Hotel. Having opened and thrived in the roaring 20’s, this iconic hotel is hosting a new tier of guests.
The sidewalks and streets leading up to the hotel entrances have been cluttered with strollers, migrants and their belongings. A Roosevelt Hotel security guard said, they “got them (the migrants) inside, so no more media.”
This individual working security at the hotel went on to say that they are swamped with migrants and they have more coming in everyday. “Whatever you see on there (the internet), it’s real.”
The same day the security guard spoke to me, 11/16/23, NYC Emergency Management Commissioner Zachary Iscol spoke to the media in front of the hotel about the current status of the migrants in the hotel.
Not much was said about the pending cuts to the cities budget that would effectively reduce the cities ability to offer services to the migrants. Ironically, the city’s budget cuts are happening in part to the fact that they have had to spend millions of dollars on migrant services already.
Kayla Mamalek, the Deputy Press Secretary to Mayor Eric Adams, has yet to respond to my request for comment on how New York City plans on moving forward regarding the migrant issue.
Ardsley Motel Status
It has been previously reported that migrants have been bussed to various locations in Westchester and Rockland County. Locations in Westchester include hotels in Yonkers, White Plains and Ardsley. The Ardsley Acres Hotel Court, located at 560 Saw Mill River Pkwy, Ardsley, NY, has been the home of migrants since June 2023.
This dilapidated motel is located right off the North-South County Trailway which is heavy with foot traffic in the warmer seasons. Now, more than 50 migrants are currently staying at the motel and there are at least 2 security guards stationed at the motel. After asking one of the security guards if they are seeing more migrants coming to the motel, they said, “Not here, because they’re full.” They also said, “I don’t know how they are keeping track of them all.”
The motel turned one of their rooms into an office where DocGo employees have set up their station. DocGo is the company NYC has contracted to organize the housing and services given to the illegal immigrants. DocGo, which has fallen under scrutiny for their lack of quality care for the migrants, is facing a class action lawsuit by their investors due to the negative press they have been receiving.
Westchester County officials have been touting themselves as the humanitarians whose first priority is the care these migrants have the right to receive, yet they have no plan nor infrastructure to back up their virtue signals. Instead, they collect their political points and kick the can.
Why is this happening?
What we are witnessing is the outcome of a state stuck in one-party control and the controlling parties policies fail miserably. Many of these New York State communities have fallen victim to the policies of Albany and New York City.
Now, these failed policymakers are attempting to backtrack their support for open borders and sanctuary cities once the issue has come to their front door, but instead of being in support of closing the border and sending these potentially dangerous migrants back to their countries of origin, they instead decide to send them into communities that do not support the policies that have brought the migrants there in the first place.
Looking at the electoral map of the 2020 presidential election, 41 of the 62 counties in NYS voted majority republican. Now, many of these counties are facing the consequences of their overpowered counterparts. New York City, Albany, Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo hold the fate of every NYS community in their hands. So far, they have failed.
What can be done?
It is up to every citizen living in communities impacted by the migrant crisis to contact their local representative and make sure they are hearing from their constituents. Go to your local town hall meetings and school board meetings, take a more active approach in your communities, or even run for local office. It is also important for everyone to know that they themselves have the ability to be journalists.
If you see an issue in your communities and want to hold your government officials accountable, what is stopping you from asking questions about it? Physically go to the location of the issue and just ask around. You may be surprised by what you find out. Then take that to your local government officials and ask them questions. These people need to feel the heat and pressure of the public otherwise they will think they can get away with anything and never have to answer for their decisions. To take back your country, it must start at home.

Biden Admin Delays Menthol Ban Amid Political Pressure: Report
The Biden administration will reportedly delay its proposed ban on menthol cigarettes amid mounting political pressure against it.
The administration is expected to announced its regulatory agenda Wednesday, which will include a plan to finalize federal rules in March to take menthol cigarettes off the market, but the ban could face a further delay due to pressure during an election year, the Washington Post reported, citing three anonymous officials.
Critics pushing to delay the ban have argued that it will disproportionately affect black communities, which could anger black voters who use the products, hurting President Joe Biden’s reelection chances, according to the Post.
The Biden administration announced its plans to ban menthol cigarettes in April 2021. The FDA then proposed the rules a year later and had originally planned to finalize them in August of this year, though the administration later hinted that it would finalize them in January 2024. The plan to wait until March is not binding, however, and the administration could hand the final rule down sooner. One official noted to the Post that waiting to finalize the rules could make it easier for a Republican successor to reverse them.
The Washington Free Beacon reported last year that opponents of the ban warned it would disproportionately impact black people and put them at risk of arrest for using the products. Those critics have included the left-wing American Civil Liberties Union, which warned in 2021 of “serious racial justice implications” of the proposed rule.
There is evidence that voters in at least one swing state disapprove of the proposed ban. An August 2022 poll found that 52 percent of voters in Pennsylvania were against it. Recent polls have shown former president Donald Trump beating Biden in Pennsylvania.

Ex-House Speaker Kevin McCarthy Says He’ll Leave Congress
Republican Kevin McCarthy, who won and lost the role of Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives in a tumultuous nine months this year, said in a Wall Street Journal column on Wednesday that he will leave Congress, bringing an end to his congressional career.
“I have decided to depart the House at the end of this year to serve America in new ways,” McCarthy, 58, wrote.
The departure of the former party leader and campaign fundraising juggernaut, who helped Republicans take control of the House in 2022, could hamper party hopes of retaining the majority next year.
His move followed weeks of introspection as McCarthy considered the consequences for his California district and himself.
“It’s a gut call,” McCarthy said at a New York Times event on Nov. 29. “I want to know that it’s the right thing to do.”
McCarthy, who first entered Congress in 2007, spent the ensuing years rising through party leadership ranks in the House before beginning a brief but wild term as the top Republican in Congress.
His tenure as speaker was marked by stormy relations with Republican hardliners, who forced him to endure 15 humiliating floor votes before receiving the gavel last January, and then voted him out on Oct. 3 after he backed a bipartisan spending measure that averted a government shutdown.
He was replaced by Speaker Mike Johnson, a relative newcomer to the leadership, after weeks of Republican infighting in which three more seasoned candidates were nominated and then rejected.
McCarthy ran afoul of hardliners when he publicly said that former president Donald Trump bore responsibility for the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, days after the violence, though he later repeatedly voiced allegiance to the former president.
He also drew their ire earlier this year by striking a deal with President Joe Biden that averted a default on U.S. debt and set a $1.59 trillion spending limit for fiscal 2024. Hardliners shuttered the House floor in days over the spending agreement but have since said they would accept it.
McCarthy was the first U.S. House speaker to be ejected from the chair. But he will become the third Republican speaker, after John Boehner and Paul Ryan, to leave Congress following repeated clashes with the Republican hard right.
He launched an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, focused on Biden’s son Hunter Biden’s business dealings, which Democrats have denounced as politically motivated and unsubstantiated by evidence.
McCarthy won reelection in 2022 by a 35-point margin and his California district is not seen as competitive by the three main non-partisan election forecasters.

Leo Hohmann: IMF Boss Says Governments Need to Impose Global Carbon Tax on Citizens to Punish Them for Using Energy
This article originally appeared on Leo Hohmann’s Substack and was republished with permission.
Guest post by Leo Hohmann
Kristalina Georgieva, a Bulgarian economist who serves as the managing director of the International Monetary Fund, said Monday that the IMF wants to see countries implement punishing new carbon taxes to “fight climate change.”
She delivered her dire message at the United Nations COP28 climate summit, where globalists in attendance flew in on jets and you can bet they are being chauffeured around in luxury automobiles and dining on the finest cuts of beef and other delicacies.
“We are very keen to give the biggest possible incentive for decarbonization, which is putting a price on carbon,” Georgieva said at the summit in the United Arab Emirates. “That price needs to go up, up, up if we are to speed up decarbonization.”
The IMF boss also tried to justify carbon taxes by saying they would raise revenues for governments.
“We are a huge proponent of carbon price,” she said, in a bold statement that seems to indicate only the rich will be allowed to maintain their current lifestyles if the globalists get their way on climate change policies.
Check out her audacious comments in the video below.
COP28 – The head of the IMF backing calls for Carbon consumption charges.
This will increase all consumer pricing, and paves the way for the ‘conspiracy theory’ of personal carbon allowances.
Only the rich will retain their lifestyles
— Elander & the News (@ElanderNews) December 4, 2023
Georgieva has broken it down in very simple terms for us serfs. Climate change means more money for governments to expand their power and control over the way we live our lives. It will provide a wonderful new excuse to reach into our pockets and rob us of your hard-earned money, then using that stolen money to hire more bureaucrats whose sole purpose will be to disrupt the middle-class lifestyle while creating new barriers for poor people seeking to rise up into the middle class.
Georgieva is a globalist elitist sitting there at COP28 under the banner of the IMF and World Bank, admitting in the wide open that what the globalists want is a global tax that punishes people for driving gas-powered cars, heating their homes, cooking on gas ranges, eating meat, flying on planes, etc.
These are all things that your typical middle-class family sees not as luxuries but as everyday necessities. If the globalists get their way, only the rich will be able to afford these things. The rest of us will be left to fend for ourselves in cold, dank little apartments, riding our bicycles to work, or catching the bus, while coming home to a dinner of meal worms and crickets.
No thanks.
These people sitting on their high and lofty perches at these globalist summits have somehow gotten the mistaken idea that they can lord their perverse ideology over us and make us conform to a lifestyle fit for the Middle Ages, while they dine on filet mignon and caviar and move about in their expensive SUVs and private jets.
As more people figure out what decarbonization and net zero emissions will actually mean for their own way of life, you can bet these globalists are going to have to run for cover.
That’s why we do what we do here at LeoHohmann.com, reporting and informing in an effort to wake up the sleeping masses. We must get them to realize that if we remain on the current trajectory, we will live as slaves.
In order to truly enforce such a dystopian society, they will crash the dollar and the rest of the global fiat currencies, replace them with digital and programmable CBDCs (Central Bank Digital Currencies), and require biometric digital IDs of all people, with your digital ID tied to your bank account. Once this is enforcement mechanism is in place, it’s game over. I believe this is all set to be accomplished by the end of 2025. That means 2024 will be a pivotal year in which a series of crises are launched aimed at getting more of us into a desperate situation. For only a desperate people will accept a life of techno-slavery in a 24/7 surveillance state.
Live free. Never comply. Use cash whenever possible. Never submit to a digital ID. There’s been too much compliance already, which is why we stand at the door of domination by these evil parasites.

Hundreds of NYC bodega workers are now concealed carriers through ‘secret society of gun owners’
Hundreds of New York City bodega workers have become concealed carriers — and they’ve done so through a “secret society of gun owners,” WNYW-TV reported.
What are the details?
The United Bodegas of America on Sunday said the group formed a “secret society” for bodega workers and owners across New York City to legally obtain concealed carry licenses, the station said, adding that the UBA initiated things after the pandemic.
“Anyone that’s out there looking to rob us, hurt us, kill us — beware,” said UBA spokesperson Fernando Mateo, according to WNYW. “You may be walking into the wrong bodega because now we have the same firepower you have.”
The station said the process took nearly two years because the bodega workers wanted it safe, legal — and secret, the station said. Specifically, criminals won’t know which bodega workers are carrying concealed guns, WNYW noted.
Gun training courses are held at UBA headquarters in Inwood, WNYW said, adding that authorized instructors such as Johnny Nunez — a retired NYPD sergeant and former New York City police academy instructor — head them up.
“Having a firearm is a defensive tool,” Nunez noted to the station. “It’s not an offensive tool. [It’s] to be used when your life or the life of another human is in – key words – imminent danger.”
Cases in point:
- WNYW said 15-year-old Lesandro “Junior” Guzman-Feliz sought shelter in a Bronx bodega before Trinitarios gang members dragged him out and killed him in 2015.
- Readers of Blaze News will recall 61-year-old New York City deli worker Jose Alba who fatally stabbed an attacker in 2022, only to be thrown in jail before Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg finally dropped all charges against him.
“We are not out here to provoke any incidents,” Mateo added to WNYW. “We’re trained to de-escalate situations, but we are also trained to use a firearm if we have to.”
Barbara Moreta is from the Dominican Republic and has owned a bodega since 2015, the station said, adding that she’s thinking about applying for a concealed carry permit through the UBA.
“When they see a woman, they think they can do everything, but if I have my gun, I think it’s better for the store,” Moreta explained to WNYW. “And [if] some people … come to do something bad, [they’ll be] scared.”
The station said a 2022 Supreme Court ruling in the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen case made it easier for the UBA to navigate obstacles that otherwise would make it difficult for members to get concealed carry licenses.

Biden says the quiet part out loud with admission that inadvertently paints grim picture for Democrats
President Joe Biden admitted Tuesday that he might not be running for re-election if Donald Trump were not running for a third time.
Speaking at a campaign fundraiser near Boston, the president told supporters that Trump and the Republican Party are an existential threat who “are determined to destroy American democracy.” The only solution that saves America, Biden offered, is to re-elect him and empower Democrats.
“If Trump wasn’t running, I’m not sure I’d be running,” Biden said. “But we cannot let him win, for the sake of the country.”
The admission is telling.
Not only was Biden suggesting that he may have been dreaming of political retirement after serving only one term, but his comments suggest that he believes that he is not up to the task of a second term, either in terms of motivation or physical and mental fitness.
Even more significant, the admission appears to confirm what Democrats are increasingly concerned about: The Democratic Party has a succession problem. The remark strongly implies that Biden is running for re-election because the leadership of the Democratic Party does not believe the party has another candidate who could beat Trump for the White House.
Would moderate voters — those who determine general election outcomes — actually want to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris or California Gov. Gavin Newsom? Probably not, and top Democratic brass know it.
Considering Biden’s standing in the polls — trailing Trump in a majority of surveys — and the fact that a majority of Americans believe he is too old for a second term at 81 years old, those 10 words that Biden snuck into the end of a campaign speech paint an alarming picture of the state of the Democratic Party.
Trump, for his part, told Fox News host Sean Hannity at a town hall in Iowa on Tuesday that he believes Biden will drop out of the race before Election Day.
“I personally don’t think he makes it. I haven’t said that; I’ve been saving it for this big town hall,” Trump said. “I personally don’t think he makes it physically. … Mentally, I would say he’s equally as bad and maybe worse.”

Alberta Compares Trump, Evangelical Supporters To Putin
The Atlantic’s Tim Alberta took his book tour to the Tuesday edition of CNN NewsNight with Abby Phillip where he warned that Evangelical Christians who support Donald Trump are not that different than Vladimir Putin.
Phillip began by reading a quote from Cal Thomas, “You kind of touched on this in your book. You talk about Cal Thomas, who plays a pretty important role in the rise of modern evangelicalism. And he said this to you about evangelical Christians. He says, ‘you can’t have a legitimate conversation with these people who are all in on Trump, because if you find any flaw in him, even flaws that are demonstrable, they either excuse it or attack you.’”
It should be noted Thomas does not have a problem with Evangelicals supporting Trump, he has a problem with people thinking Christianity and supporting Trump are the same thing. Alberta goes beyond that. For instance, Alberta condemns Evangelicals for not embracing gun control and allegedly not caring about poor people while voting for Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin which is, ironically, doing the same thing he accuses conservative Evangelicals of doing: confusing his own policy preferences for Christianity.
As for his repose to Phillip, Albert proclaimed, “Well, especially, Abby, yes, I mean, it makes me worry, and I think especially when you take the elements of authoritarianism, but then you inject the religious zealotry and the religious justification, not from Trump himself but from this base of conservative, right-wing, white evangelicals, whom he has cultivated over the past eight years.”
When it came time to provide an example of what this might look like, Alberta reached for the Putin card, “And these are folks who, if you look at January 6th, some of the religious imagery around the siege of the Capitol, if you look at the language he deploys when he’s in front of explicitly evangelical audiences talking about giving back power to Christianity, wanting to sort of take on Christianity’s enemies in the culture, I mean, this is loaded language. And you don’t have to look far to see just overseas in Ukraine, Russia’s invasion was loaded with this sort of religious, identitarian rhetoric, and Trump, in some ways, is borrowing from that same playbook. So, it’s very worrisome.”
Only Tim Alberta could think voting for the candidate who will enact conservative policies about abortion or transgenderism is analogous to invading another country.
Here is a transcript for the December 5 show:
CNN NewsNight with Abby Phillip

I mean, does that what he’s describing there make you or him worry that that’s a recipe for authoritarianism?
ALBERTA: Well, especially, Abby, yes, I mean, it makes me worry, and I think especially when you take the elements of authoritarianism, but then you inject the religious zealotry and the religious justification, not from Trump himself but from this base of conservative, right-wing, white evangelicals, whom he has cultivated over the past eight years.
