Korybko: Washington’s Claims Of Canadian Meddling Are Interesting & Ironic
Authored by Andrew Korybko via Korybko (Substack),They’re interesting because few could have predicted that Canada of all countries would one day meddle in American elections, and they’re ironic because the examples cited are a sliver of how the US regularly meddles in other countries’ elections. The US Embassy in Canada released a fact sheet in late October concerning “Canadian Activities In U.S. Politics” wherein nearly a dozen examples of its recently meddling in American politics are shared. They have to do with Ottawa’s reciprocal tariffs explicitly targeting Republican states and its officials extending partisan support to the Democrats ahead of early November’s midterms. Most observers expect, both per the decades-long documented trend and global fuel crisis, that the Republicans will get trounced. It’s in this context and less than two weeks before the vote that the US Embassy released its fact sheet. Quite clearly, Trump 2.0 wants to preemptively place partial blame for his party’s expected losses on Canadian meddling, which can in turn discredit the Democrats in the eyes of some voters as well as possibly justify additional tariffs against Canada on the pretext of retaliation. It deserves mentioning that these examples of Canadian meddling came amidst Trump’s repeated talk of annexing that country. That’s what makes these claims interesting and ironic: they’re interesting because few could have predicted that Canada of all cout6nries would one day meddle in American elections, and they’re ironic because the examples cited are a sliver of how the US regularly meddles in other countries’ elections. Economic restrictions and meetings with opposition officials are the tip of the iceberg. In this particular context, however, they might actually have an effect of sorts on the outcome of the midterms. To explain, Canada’s reciprocal tariffs can compound the economic pain that voters in Republican states are nowadays feeling as a result of the global fuel crisis brought about by the Third Gulf War that the US and Israel initiated last February, thus possibly influencing some to sit out the vote or cast their ballot for someone else out of protest. People can be finnicky like that, especially Americans who are stressed out by growing costs that directly reduce their standard of living, hoping that they’ll make a difference. It doesn’t matter to some of them that Canada is explicitly targeting their states for the purpose of undermining the last two years of Trump’s second presidency since some simply want to signal their displeasure with him. As for Canadian officials’ meetings with the Democrats, this could energize some of the Democrats in Republican states that might not otherwise vote, perhaps inspired by the belief that they can help set into motion some grand coalition against Trump that climaxes in 2028.In the event that the Republicans lose one or both chambers of Congress and Trump doubles down on his claim that foreign (whether Canadian and/or other) meddling was to blame, then this could help the Republicans in 2028 by rallying the base with fears of the aforementioned grand coalition against them. The belief that foreign powers are working with the opposition to undermine an incumbent government can become a potent rallying force as the US itself learned after the blowback from its own meddling.Looking forward, while it’s arguably the case that Canada is openly meddling in the US’ midterms, the impact shouldn’t be exaggerated, even though Trump is likely to do so for self-interested political reasons as explained. He won’t acknowledge that the Third Gulf War that the US and Israel initiated against Iran would be the most reasonable explanation for the Republicans losing one or both chambers of Congress since it would bruise his ego to admit that everything hasn’t gone according to plan.We publish a variety of perspectives. Nothing written here is to be construed as representing the views of ZeroHedge.

Mike Florio ends ‘conscious voting protest,’ decides to vote in 2026 midterms
Tuesday morning, far-left sports blogger Mike Florio announced that he planned not to vote in the 2026 midterm elections.Florio described his decision as a “conscious protest against a system that is corrupt, ugly, and broken.”The midterm elections will determine control of Congress, with voters also deciding a series of gubernatorial, state legislative, and local races. Apparently, Florio concluded that his most meaningful contribution would be staying home. That lasted a few hours.Despite the lack of reaction to his announcement, Florio changed his mind Tuesday afternoon and said he would vote after all.THE CRAIG CARTON SHOW–UNFILTERED, UNAPOLOGETIC AND UNMISSABLE. Pennsylvania Voter Shocked to Find Someone Already Voted in His Name Before He Even Got to the Polls — No Voter ID Required [VIDEO]
Pennsylvania resident Jean Franco Urbaez arrived at his polling place in Lower Macungie Township, PA, to vote in person. To his surprise, someone had already voted in person using his identity at 8:11. Urbaez videotaped himself making the discovery until he was told he was not allowed to videotape in the polling place.
Pennsylvania resident Franco Urbaez
According to Urbaez, Pennsylvania has no requirement to prove a voter’s identity, making it easy to steal someone else’s vote. He explains that after he discovered someone voted using his name and address, poll workers gave him the opportunity to cast a provisional ballot. Urbaez explained that once he cast his provisional ballot, it would be up to him to argue that the person who voted using his identity while Urbaez slept this morning was not him, for HIS ballot to count.
This is obviously a completely avoidable situation. If federal law required each voter to provide a legitimate form of identification to vote, this would never have happened. No voter should walk into their polling place to vote in-person only to find out someone else had already voted for them.
Watch:
MIDTERM ELECTION FRAUD
At 8:11am this morning, someone else went IN PERSON to my local polling place and stole my vote.
They forged my signature and were able to cast a ballot in my name because we don’t ask for VOTER ID.
To make matters worse, the ONLY form of verification we apparently ask for in PA is your street address.
So did I have to provide my street address? No! They provided it to me.
All you have to say is, “yep, that’s me.” and boom, you get to vote.
Why are we still letting this happen in this country!?
Get out there and vote, and remember to vote red. The only people that are taking advantage of voter fraud in this way are those that do NOT want legitimate elections.
Let’s flood the country red and fix this problem once and for all!
The Democrats might have stolen my one vote but if this message finds you and gets you to go out there and vote RED, we can turn my one vote into thousands!! God bless the USA

Never forget: Republicans and Democrats had the opportunity to pass the SAVE Act and make these scenarios rare, not commonplace across America. Every single American citizen should ask their Senator who voted against the SAVE Act to answer for their vote. Citizens have a right to understand why their senators chose to make elections less secure when they had a historic opportunity to make Americans trust elections again.

Verizon and AT&T quietly make major workforce shift amid pressure
Verizon and AT&T have quietly made new workforce changes as the battle for telecom customers intensifies.
Over the past year, both companies have been reshaping their operations to gain an edge over their rivals. For instance, in August 2025, AT&T CEO John Stankey doubled down on the company’s new return-to-office policy in a memo to employees, encouraging those who prefer remote work to find a new job.
“We run a dynamic, customer-facing business, tackling large-scale, challenging initiatives,” wrote Stankey in the memo. “If the requirements dictated by this dynamic do not align to your personal desires, you have every right to find a career opportunity that is suitable to your aspirations and needs.”
In December 2025, Verizon also shifted gears by laying off 13,000 employees to simplify its operations. Later, at a Morgan Stanley conference in March, Verizon CEO Dan Schulman said he aims to transform the carrier into an “AI-first company.”
Verizon and AT&T cut more jobs
As Verizon and AT&T reshape their operations, both companies have quietly conducted layoffs in the third quarter of 2026.
Verizon’s latest earnings report revealed it ended the third quarter of 2026 with about 93,300 employees, down from 97,600 in the second quarter.
The drop in employees comes after Verizon conducted hundreds of layoffs nationwide in May. In August, it also sold 274 company-owned retail stores and laid off over 3,000 employees, with 500 of those cuts affecting corporate workers.

At the end of the third quarter, AT&T had 127,150 employees, down from 130,870 at the end of the second quarter. This shift comes after the carrier reportedly laid off employees across multiple departments earlier this year.
In an interview with Wired in September, AT&T Chief Technology Officer Jeremy Legg said the carrier will continue to lay off employees as it invests heavily in artificial intelligence.
“We’re not going to have the same headcount in five years as we do today,” Legg says, adding that AT&T is comparing its staffing levels to those of peers, which plays a role in its decision-making.
Verizon and AT&T cut over 8,000 jobs combined in the third quarter. Headcount across both companies has declined by 142,460 between September 2020 and September 2026, a recent Light Reading report revealed.
The job cuts come at a time when employment in the telecom industry is declining. According to recent U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data, the telecom industry has seen employment drop by 5,700 jobs between June and September 2026.

Verizon and AT&T confront a changing telecom landscape
The recent job cuts at Verizon and AT&T also come at a time when both carriers are facing intense competitive pressures in wireless and broadband.
For instance, wireless carriers are facing tougher competition from cable operators, which have been successfully gaining wireless customers through bundled internet and wireless offerings.
In the third quarter, Comcast attracted 368,000 new Xfinity wireless customers in the U.S., according to its latest earnings report. This growth comes after it began attaching a free mobile line to its internet plans in 2025.
Spectrum also reported healthy wireless customer growth, adding 406,000 new wireless customers in the second quarter, its most recent earnings report revealed.

The additions follow the launch of its $1,000 savings guarantee earlier this year, which promises new and existing Spectrum internet customers who transfer at least two mobile lines from AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon $1,000 in first-year savings.
Cable companies aren’t the only competitors putting pressure on traditional wireless carriers. SpaceX’s Starlink is another emerging rival.
Starlink, which offers satellite internet packages currently ranging from $55 to $130 per month, has seen its U.S. broadband business grow considerably. New Street Research estimates that Starlink now serves about 4 million U.S. broadband customers, according to a Telecom Gazette report. This figure is higher than the 2.7 million the research firm estimated in May.
SpaceX is also pursuing a terrestrial network for its Starlink Mobile service. On an August earnings call, SpaceX Chief Operating Officer Gwynne Shotwell discussed the service’s potential to draw customers away from established wireless carriers, saying she expects it to “acquire quite a few” customers from Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile.
Telecom industry prepares for an AI-driven workforce shift
Amid rising competition, telecom companies across the globe are preparing to reshape their workforces with AI to improve productivity, a move many expect will lead to future job cuts.
According to a recent survey from EY-Parthenon, 97% of global telecom leaders expect AI to deliver significant productivity gains within five years.
Also, 69% expect three-quarters of their workforce to be either upskilled or replaced over the next five years as organizations increasingly move towards AI-enabled operating models.
“The workforce challenge extends beyond reskilling,” said Cédric Foray, an EY Global telecommunications sector leader, in a press release.
“Telecom companies must also rethink organizational structures, redesign roles and processes, and develop new leadership capabilities to support the next phase of transformation,” he continued. “Leaders that simply add AI to existing ways of working risk missing much of the value. The opportunity lies in reengineering how work gets done across the organization.”

‘Made In China’ Hypercar Crashes In 300-MPH Test-Run
Chinese automotive news website CarNewsChina reports that BYD’s Yangwang U9 Xtreme supercar crashed on a closed-loop track in China while attempting to reach a mind-boggling 500 kilometers per hour, or about 311 miles per hour.Footage of the $3 million Yangwang U9 Xtreme shows the hypercar striking a barrier at high speed. The impact tore the vehicle to shreds, but the cockpit remained intact and the driver survived.Per the report:The BYD’s 3 million USD supercar Yangwang U9 Xtreme with a combined peak power of 2,220 kW (2,977 hp) crashed in China, possibly during a test attempt to reach the top speed of 500 km/h. Although the car’s rear axle was completely detached, the driver avoided injuries. The hypercar produces roughly 3,000 horsepower with four electric motors and has a planned production run of 30 cars worldwide. BYD has claimed the hypercar can reach speeds of 308 mph.Automotive news website Autoblog commented on the crash:While the news of this accident is both good and bad, the reality is that traveling at those speeds brings science into question. The faster the car, the more it needs to handle the laws of physics and science that push back at high speed. It’ll need the right aerodynamics, but most importantly, the right tires to put all that power down at those speeds without breaking or losing traction.Notably, the Tesla Roadster is equipped with a fan-suction and skirt system that generates up to 2G of downforce, which can keep the hypercar’s tires firmly loaded at high speeds, improving grip, cornering stability, and braking.

WATCH: San Diego Ballot Drop Box OVERFLOWS with Votes on the Ground, Witness Says Workers Told Her to Delete the Video
An overflowing official ballot drop box at the Point Loma/Hervey Library on Voltaire Street in San Diego left ballots on the ground and forced voters to turn away, according to an eyewitness video and account.
The witness said election workers in high-visibility vests slowly emptied the jammed box into two bags, loaded them into an unmarked minivan, and that one worker told her to delete the video she was recording.
She refused.

VERY IMPORTANT: DISTURBING REPORT FROM SAN DIEGO BALLOT DROP-OFF LOCATION
An eyewitness reports that the ballot drop box at the library on Voltaire Street was so full that voters were being turned away.
According to the witness, ballots were on the ground as election workers slowly emptied the overflowing box, filling TWO bags.
The witness says one worker then loaded the bags into an unmarked minivan.
When she began recording, an election worker allegedly told her to DELETE THE VIDEO.
She refused.

Activist Amy Reichert posted about the incident and included the roughly 90-second video, describing the box as so full that workers were turning voters away.
The witness reported seeing completed ballots on the ground while workers in County of San Diego Registrar of Voters vests handled the overflow.
The workers can be heard discussing the open box and the need to secure it.
A follow-up video from Reichert provides the eyewitness’s full account of what she observed and whom she contacted.

No immediate public statement from the San Diego County Registrar of Voters specifically addressing the Voltaire Street overflow, the ballots on the ground, the unmarked minivan, or the alleged request to delete video was available at the time of publication.
California law requires that ballots placed in official drop boxes by the close of polls be counted, provided they are properly sealed and signed.
Voters who used the Voltaire Street box or nearby locations can track their mail ballot status through the California Secretary of State’s online tracking tool once results processing begins.

Tom Lee says AI investors may be selling at the wrong time
If you have $1 invested in an S&P 500 fund, a surprising amount of it may already ride on the artificial intelligence trade.
In State Street’s SPYM fund, Nvidia (NVDA), Microsoft (MSFT), Amazon (AMZN), Alphabet (GOOGL), Broadcom (AVGO), and Meta Platforms (META) together represented about 26% of the portfolio as of Oct. 29.
This implies that an investor does not need to purchase an AI stock intentionally to be concerned about its future.
Tom Lee thinks the latest sell-off may be approaching an important turning point. The Fundstrat co-founder said on Nov. 2 that he believes AI stocks are at or close to a bottom after a painful October for technology shares.
This means it’s difficult for regular investors to make a decision.
If Lee is correct, selling technology exposure during the downturn may entail leaving immediately before a recovery. Retirement portfolios that are already highly exposed to megacap technologies may suffer more if he is wrong.
It goes beyond just asking whether Nvidia has reached its lowest point.
After most of the harm has already been done, the question is whether investors are ready to sell.
Tom Lee says AI demand has not disappeared
Lee’s bullish argument starts with what he believes investors are getting wrong about the sell-off.
He does not see an AI industry that has built more computing capacity than customers need. “The market for AI is still very tight. It’s not an overcapacity market,” Lee said during a CNBC interview.
That difference is important.
Investors may see a far longer decline if AI businesses have already constructed too many data centers, purchased too many processors, and depleted consumer demand.
Lee instead argues that although demand remains strong, limits on how quickly infrastructure can be built are constraining growth. “I think we’re at the bottom,” he said.
It doesn’t guarantee that stocks will climb right away. And because investors can’t determine the extent of any declines, Lee himself cautioned that bottoms are risky.
Nvidia offers a helpful test to investors. It reported second-quarter fiscal 2027 data-center revenue of $89 billion, up 117% from a year earlier. The company expects third-quarter revenue of about $108 billion and reports results Nov. 17.

Your retirement fund may already be an AI bet
The average investor’s exposure is larger than many may realize.
Nvidia made up 7.77% of State Street’s SPYM S&P 500 fund on Oct. 29. Microsoft had 5.91%, Amazon 3.59%, Alphabet’s two share classes 4.5%, Broadcom 2.47%, and Meta 2.07%.
Information technology represented 38.4% of the fund.
More Wall Street:
Nvidia and Micron are about to lord their successes all over Wall Street
Nvidia, Palantir, and Alphabet send waves through Wall Street
Wall Street elites will pocket windfall from record $46 billion profits
For someone making automatic monthly contributions to a 401(k), IRA, or brokerage account, Lee’s bottom line is relevant.
Nvidia may not have been the investor’s first choice, since it was selected for them by the index. But as such businesses expand, they may have more influence on broad-market returns due to their rising market prices.
When they come together, an investor may find that what seemed to be a broad portfolio actually relied more on a small number of tech firms.
October was the weakest month for the Nasdaq-100 tracking QQQ fund since March 2025, with a roughly 7% decline.
That decline explains why the timing of Lee’s call matters.
Selling after the drop creates a different risk
Paying too much for technology stocks is a clear risk ahead of an AI sell-off.
Selling after prices have already dropped poses additional danger to investors after a significant downturn.
This does not imply that all investors need to purchase further Nvidia.
A person who is decades away from retirement could have a different perspective on volatility. When prices drop, that younger investor who keeps making regular payments may purchase additional shares.
If Lee is mistaken and another significant deterioration occurs, a person nearing retirement will have less time to recover.
Concentration is a typical problem. Before responding to the most recent market change, investors should be aware of how much of their purportedly diverse portfolio is already linked to the same AI firms.
Over the next weeks, it will be simpler to evaluate Lee’s theory. Nvidia’s Nov. 17 results will show whether extraordinary AI demand is still translating into extraordinary revenue.
Additionally, investors should keep an eye on whether Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, and Meta continue to spend heavily and if the revival of the stock market extends beyond a few megacap companies.
The latest sell-off may ultimately prove to be a reset in expectations if AI demand stays tight and profits continue to rise. Lee could have called it quits too soon if consumers begin to reduce their spending.
His call is important for everybody who has even $1 invested in the AI trade.
