Northpointe is our top choice for borrowers with bad credit, offering several options for borrowers with checkered credit histories. One such option is its New Start program, which provides financing to borrowers recovering from a financial setback, such as bankruptcy. The program’s expanded underwriting flexibility allows borrowers with bad credit to obtain mortgages of up to $1 million (other lenders that offer conventional mortgages generally require scores of at least 620).

Other mortgage lenders we considered
We evaluated over 30 mortgage lenders as part of our research. Below are lenders that didn’t make our top picks list but could be a good fit for your current needs.
Navy Federal Credit Union
Navy Federal specializes in loan programs designed for members of the armed forces. Although its main strength is VA loan products, the lender also offers conventional purchase and refinancing options, and its mortgage rates are competitive with other lenders. Membership is limited, however, to active and retired military members and their families, as well as some Department of Defense civilian employees, thereby limiting who can benefit from its loan products.
What you need to know about mortgage lenders
There are several types of mortgage lenders, including traditional brick-and-mortar banks, online lenders and mortgage brokers. Each one has advantages and disadvantages. Evaluating different lending options can result in a lower interest rate and a better overall experience.
If you’ve taken out a mortgage before, you already have an idea of what to expect and look for. But if you’re a first-time homebuyer, going through the mortgage process can seem overwhelming. The following tips can help you find the best lender for your financial needs.
How to choose the right mortgage lender
One of the most important steps in homebuying that many people skip is shopping around for a lender. Mortgage rates vary widely among lenders for several reasons, including differences in fees and origination costs. Comparing loan offers from multiple lenders could save you $1,200 or more per year.
When shopping for a lender, ask about all available loan options and understand the pros and cons of each. Learning about different loan types can help you narrow down which one best suits your financial situation. A reputable lender will take the time to walk you through the ins and outs of each mortgage loan and help you decide on the best course of action.
Once you’ve determined which loan type works best for you, compare offers from several lenders. Focus on the following areas to find the right fit.
Comparing rates and fees
The mortgage interest rate is one of the most important pieces of information you’ll need. It determines your monthly payment and the total interest you’ll pay over the life of the loan. The lower the rate you qualify for, the more money you’ll save in the long run.
The rate difference can be as small as half a percentage point. For example, the monthly payment on a 30-year, $400,000 mortgage at 7.28% — about the average rate currently on the market — would be about $137 lower than the same loan at 7.78%.
Rates can vary widely among lenders, so don’t settle for the first offer you find. According to Freddie Mac research, obtaining one additional lender quote could result in an average savings of $1,500 over the life of the loan. Obtaining five additional quotes increases the average to $3,000.
When comparing loan offers, make sure you’re comparing the same type of mortgage, loan terms, and amount for a more accurate estimate.
Interest rate vs. annual percentage rate
When comparing rates, you’ll see two separate numbers. One is the base rate the lender will charge, often called the interest rate. Your credit score and market conditions determine this rate. However, it’s not the actual rate you’ll pay on the loan.
Lenders add fees, including loan origination and underwriting charges, mortgage points, private mortgage insurance and broker fees, as applicable. The annual percentage rate (APR) reflects the annual cost of borrowing, including these fees, and is used by borrowers to compare offers.
If you find a lender offering a lower interest rate but a higher APR than another lender, it indicates they are rolling more fees into the loan cost. When comparing mortgage rates, APRs help you evaluate lenders on an apples-to-apples basis and provide a more accurate estimate of total loan cost.
Fixed vs. variable interest
A fixed interest rate means the interest rate charged on the loan doesn’t change over its term. As a result, your monthly principal and interest payment will remain the same, although it might vary from year to year if you pay your property taxes through your mortgage via an escrow account.
A variable rate, also known as an adjustable rate, fluctuates at specific intervals (typically every six months or year). Most adjustable-rate mortgages today are commonly called hybrid loans. They have a predetermined number of years at a fixed interest rate, after which the rate will become variable.
Whether and by how much the rate increases or decreases depends on market conditions and the loan terms, which can significantly change the amount of interest paid over the loan term. Some lenders, however, cap the rate increase per adjustment period.
Loan terms
The interest rate can also vary by loan term. Most homebuyers choose a 30-year mortgage because monthly payments are typically lower than those of shorter-term loans.
Loans with shorter payback terms, such as 10- or 15-year loans, tend to have lower interest rates. However, a shorter repayment term results in higher monthly payments than a longer loan with the same interest rate. The advantage of short-term loans is that you’ll pay less total interest compared to a longer-term loan, and you can build equity in your home more quickly.
Checking preapproval options
Preapproval and prequalification might sound similar, but they’re actually different, and the distinction is important when you’re trying to buy a home.
There was a time when getting prequalified for a loan was enough for you to be competitive in the housing market. Since the pandemic, however, the market has become more competitive, with more all-cash buyers (which sellers generally prefer). In this climate, we recommend getting not just prequalified but preapproved for a home loan.
When you get prequalified, the lender will give you an estimate of how much you could borrow based on the cursory financial information you provide. The actual amount you qualify to borrow could be significantly different once you submit a complete application.
With a preapproval, the lender will review and verify your financial documents and information, including your credit report, before issuing a preapproval letter. This letter is not a guarantee of a loan, but it confirms that the lender has vetted your finances and is willing to lend you up to a specified amount, subject to conditions. This letter is typically valid for 60 to 90 days, although some lenders issue letters that expire after 30 days.
Most lenders provide a preapproval letter free of charge, although some may charge an application or credit check fee. Verify with the lenders you’re considering whether there are any costs to obtaining preapproval and how long it will last.
Understanding loan costs and conditions
Once you submit a mortgage application, a lender has three days to provide you with an official loan estimate. This document is a standardized form that includes loan details and provides information about the following:

Loan term: Includes the loan amount, interest rate, and a breakdown of how each monthly payment is allocated to the loan principal, interest, mortgage insurance, and escrow.
Loan fees and other costs: Includes the loan’s closing costs, which range from 2% to 6% of the loan amount and include application, origination and underwriting fees, along with mortgage insurance premiums, property taxes, mortgage points and ancillary fees.
Estimated cash to close: Details the upfront costs needed to close the loan. Items in this section include the down payment, deposits and fees the borrower must pay in addition to the closing costs.
Comparisons: Provides interest rate and payment information you can use to compare with other loan offers.
Other considerations: Includes information about home appraisals, whether the loan is assumable (most aren’t), late-payment penalties, homeowners’ insurance requirements, refinancing terms and whether the lender will service the loan or transfer it to another party.

Read this document carefully and understand all the terms, fees, and conditions involved in accepting the lender’s offer. Because this document is standardized, you can easily compare terms across lenders and determine which lender best suits your needs. Once you choose a loan, you will receive the final closing documents, which should closely match the information provided in the estimate.
Latest news in mortgage lending
Mortgage rates are averaging in the low- to mid-7% range. Freddie Mac’s 30-year average was 7.24% on Oct. 29, down from 7.40% earlier in the month. The Federal Reserve raised its target range to 3.75% to 4% in September and held it on Oct. 28, with two members preferring another increase, so rates could move either way. Sticky inflation and rising U.S. debt are causing yields on the 10-year Treasury note — which mortgage rates tend to follow — to reach their highest levels in two decades.
These higher rates are straining many would-be homebuyers’ budgets. According to the National Association of Realtors, existing home sales in September rose 1.5% from August to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 3.99 million, but were 2.2% lower than a year ago.
In addition to high borrowing costs, prospective buyers are also facing rising home prices. The NAR reports that the median price of a single-family home was $422,700 in September, up by 1.2% from a year ago.
There is a bright side, however. Inventory stood at a 4.8-month supply of homes, up from 4.5 months a year ago, meaning it would take nearly five months to sell all the homes currently on the market at the current pace of sales. More inventory gives buyers who are still actively looking more options.

Mortgage Lenders FAQs
What are the current mortgage rates in 2026?
According to Freddie Mac, the 30-year loan rate averaged 6.76% for the week ending September 10. The 15-year loan rate averaged 6.09%. Factors currently influencing rate movement include the Iran War and its impact on inflation, labor market strength, and potential changes in Federal Reserve monetary policy.
How much house can I afford?
How much house you can afford will be determined by your credit score, income, debt level and down payment. These factors help determine the interest rate a lender will offer, which directly impacts your monthly payment. Use Money’s affordability calculator to determine what your homebuying budget should be.
Does applying to multiple mortgage lenders hurt your credit?
Shopping around for the same type of loan won’t hurt your score if you do it within the scoring window. FICO considers applications made within a 45-day window as one inquiry, while VantageScore and some older FICO models have a 14-day window.
Is it better to get a mortgage from a bank, a credit union or an online lender?
Banks offer the best in-person service and relationship discounts; credit unions offer lower rates and flexible terms if you are a member; and online lenders offer faster approval and disbursement times. Choose the option that works best for you.
How long does it take to close on a mortgage?
It typically takes 45 to 60 days to close on a mortgage. Factors that can delay this timeline include delays in getting the home appraised or inspected, conditional underwriting requests, and missing financial information or employment documentation.
How much of a down payment do I need in 2026?
The amount of down payment you’ll need to buy a home this year will depend on the type of loan you apply for. VA and USDA loans, for example, don’t require a down payment, whereas FHA loans require a minimum down payment of 3.5%. At some lenders, you can get a conventional loan with as little as 3% down — although putting down less than 20% means you’ll also have to pay for private mortgage insurance. Additionally, keep in mind that a higher down payment could help you qualify for a better mortgage rate.

Methodology
Money reviewed more than 30 of the largest financial institutions and their products, using publicly available data and confirming its accuracy through interviews with lender representatives. We then evaluated each one in terms of their sample rates, loan options, customer satisfaction, minimum credit score requirement and accessibility, scoring each lender on a scale of one to five on the following metrics: Credit score (25%), interest rates (25%), reputation/customer satisfaction (20%), loan options (15%) and geographic availability (15%).

Lenders that accepted lower credit scores received higher marks because they could serve a larger pool of borrowers.
We sampled interest rates over a one-month period and prioritized lenders that offered consistently lower rates.
Companies with higher customer satisfaction ratings received higher scores than competitors with lower ratings.
Lenders offering more loan options received higher scores because they give borrowers a better chance of finding the right product for their needs.
Companies with a broader service footprint scored higher than those with a more limited reach.

Appeals Court Rejects DOJ Request For California To Set Aside 20,000 Ballots

Authored by Jack Phillips via The Epoch Times,A U.S. appeals court has rejected the Trump administration’s request to stop California from counting ballots from 20,000 potential noncitizen voters. In a 39-page ruling, a panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled 2-1 that it declines the administration’s “invitation to contravene the Elections Clause by undermining the Constitution’s plain text.””If the United States believes different procedures are necessary for vote-by-mail ballots, we believe it should take that suggestion to Congress, not the courts,” the majority stated.A district court judge already denied that request and said that the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) demands could disenfranchise citizens.Referring to that ruling, the appeals court wrote, “As the district court found – and we discern no clear error – there is no feasible way to identify and segregate the ballots of specific individuals without potentially catastrophic effects on the entire system.”The panel rejected the government’s emergency request for an injunction that would have barred the 20,000 ballots from being tallied until the voters’ citizenship was verified. The midterm elections are set to be held on Tuesday, Nov. 3.The Trump administration said it believes that the suspected noncitizens have already received mail-in ballots for the midterms and that if California officials receive those ballots, mix them with legitimate ones, and process them, illegal votes will be counted.California officials have described the list as highly unreliable, saying it likely includes many people who are U.S. citizens.State and county officials confirmed they lacked the mechanisms and authority to prevent non-U.S. citizens from voting in the elections, the DOJ wrote in its lawsuit earlier this month, meaning those individuals could potentially illegally vote in the election.”As defendants continue processing ballots that cannot later be segregated or verified for eligibility, the dilution of lawful votes accelerates in real time,” the DOJ said on Oct. 21 in an emergency filing to the appeals court.Los Angeles County filed a motion asking the district judge to dismiss the lawsuit and argued that the DOJ lacked the legal standing to bring it.”The executive, like any other plaintiff, must identify a concrete injury, actual or imminent, fairly traceable to the county’s conduct and likely to be redressed by the requested relief. The complaint identifies none,” the complaint stated. The Trump administration is enhancing its scrutiny of local elections, and recently issued a raft of subpoenas in Alaska in a spoiler-candidate controversy. In that state, campaign aides to Democratic Senate candidate Mary Peltola allegedly sought to recruit a third-party candidate with the same name as the Republican incumbent, Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska). Peltola’s campaign has denied the claims, while the state’s governor and police force have confirmed an investigation. The DOJ has also provided a list of around 400 alleged noncitizen voters to officials in Washington state. In response, Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs said Thursday that his state has no capacity to confirm whether individuals are U.S. citizens when they are registered to vote.”We don’t have a system that can identify whether someone is an actual noncitizen,” he said at a news conference, adding it isn’t “unusual for noncitizens” to be on state voter registration lists.President Donald Trump earlier this week said he would offer a $1 million reward for anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals engaging in voter fraud in the upcoming election or in previous ones. No additional details about the reward have been provided.

JUST UGLY: Abdul Al-Sayed Brings Up Pete Hegseth’s MOTHER – Says Pete “Probably Rode the Pine” in High School… Hegseth Was All-State in High School, Played College Ball

October 30, 2026 MMN Editor Filed Under: THE NEWS

Radical Abdul El-Sayed went on with Hasan Minhaj this week and decided to rant about Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. Abdul, who didn’t play sports, tried to smear Hegseth – an all-state player in Minnesota!
Radical, offensive Democrat Abdul Muhammed Al-Sayed sat down with Hasan Minhaj for an interview this week.
During the interview Al-Sayed thought it would be good to bring up Pete’s mother!
That’s where we are right now with these offensive, conscience-less Democrats, bringing up Republican moms!
He also accused Pete of “riding the pine” or sitting on the bench his entire career.
For the record, Pete Hegseth was an all-state basketball player in Minnesota. He was valedictorian of his high school and an all state basketball guard. Pete also played wide receiver in football. Pete was later inducted into his high school’s Athletic Hall of Fame.
Hegseth chose Princeton University (over a West Point appointment) to play basketball and graduated in 2003 with a B.A. in politics. He was a four-year varsity letterman as a guard (~6’0″–6’1″, 170 lbs) on the men’s team, appearing in both the NCAA and NIT tournaments.
Abdul Muhamed Al-Sayed: Pete Hegseth, everybody knows that guy from the locker room.
He would’ve, you know, he would’ve rode the pine. He probably got to start two games his entire career playing whatever sport he was (in), and it made his life. And his parents came and cheered so hard for him.
And, as a kid whose parents never came, right, and started every game, part of me is just like, bro, I feel bad for you.
Somebody told you you were a lot better than you really are. Like, there’s something about being a brown kid whose parents, like, you know, no matter what you do, you’re never enough…
…So what that means is that you never take yourself too seriously. You’re like, I’m never gonna be enough. Right?
So you’re just like, oh, But for him, the very fact that he made the team, his mom was making cake, she was wearing his jersey, she had a cake made for him.
You know the type. So I’m like, bro, you grew up thinking that you were somehow special, but you are not. And you have been living off that fume for the rest of your life.
Could you imagine what we would’ve become if we had supportive parents who just uplifted us? For being mediocre?
Via Chuck Ross:

El-Sayed went on this bizarre rant against Pete Hegseth — claiming that Hegseth “rode the pine” in “whatever sport he played” in high school.
He invoked Hegseth’s mother (moms are fair game now, huh?), and claimed she was “the type” who would have worn her son’s jersey to games.
*Hegseth was an all-state point guard in high school in Minnesota, set various school records. He played college ball and got some floor time in the 2001 NCAA tournament. El-Sayed played club lacrosse at Michigan.*
Here’s El-Sayed’s animosity-filled diatribe against Hegseth:
“You know he would have rode the pine. He probably got to start 2 games his entire career, playing whatever sport it was.”
“His parents came and cheered so hard for him.”
“Bro, I feel bad for you. Somebody told you you’re a lot better than you really are.”
“There’s something about being a brown kid whose parents…no matter what you do you’re never enough.”
“For him, the very fact that he made the team: his mom was making cake, she was wearing his jersey, she had a cap made for him. You know the type.”

‘Decoy Dan’ Skipped Town Two Days Before NYT Bombshell As Feds Surge Into Alaska

The second Dan Sullivan on Alaska’s Senate ballot has left his hometown, multiple sources told CBS News on Friday, four days before Alaskans finish voting in a race that could decide control of the Senate.Daniel J. Sullivan, a retired Petersburg schoolteacher running as an independent against Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan, was seen on a flight to Anchorage on Monday by a resident and former student, who told CBS she didn’t know where he was headed. That was two days before the New York Times reported that operatives linked to Democrat Mary Peltola’s campaign had recruited him to run, as we reported Wednesday.Daniel J. Sullivan, the independent candidate running for Senate in Alaska whose name is almost identical to the Republican senator running for reelection, left his hometown of Petersburg earlier this week, multiple sources confirmed to CBS News. One resident and former student of Sullivan’s said she saw Sullivan on a flight to Anchorage on Monday — two days before The New York Times first reported that he was recruited by operatives linked to Democrat Mary Peltola’s campaign. https://t.co/hDk5Hc40g5— CBS News (@CBSNews) October 30, 2026A CBS crew in Petersburg found no sign of an active campaign, including outside his home, and dozens of residents said they never received any campaign material from him. A friend said he and his wife are known for traveling the world. Residents were split: one supporter told CBS that Sullivan is the only candidate who can represent Southeast Alaska, while fisherman Andrew Worhatch said, “I don’t think it’s a serious candidacy.”Sullivan didn’t respond when Petersburg public radio station KFSK sought comment Wednesday, and CBS’s report carries no comment from him. He has said his campaign had no connection to Peltola’s.Michael Heyman, the U.S. attorney for Alaska, said Friday that the reporting on the candidate’s origins was “troubling” and had prompted a “significant surge of law enforcement assets” into the state, though he wouldn’t say which crimes prosecutors are weighing, according to CBS. Heyman said the matter had been “going on sort of quietly for several months.” He had been recused while under consideration for a judicial nomination, and that recusal “has officially been rescinded,” he said. The Justice Department, which has subpoenaed several Democratic officials, will seek a preliminary injunction and expedited discovery by Monday in its civil suit to stop Alaska from certifying the result if Sen. Sullivan loses because of voter confusion, Heyman said. The administration filed that suit last week, as we reported, and Todd Blanche defended it in a testy exchange with CNN’s Dana Bash.Gov. Mike Dunleavy has ordered a separate state investigation into whether Peltola’s campaign should face criminal charges or civil penalties, and said the state could stop or change certification of the Senate result if it finds illegal conduct. Peltola has said she “knew nothing about” the Petersburg candidate and is “not interested in tricking voters.” No one has been charged.State election officials struck Daniel J. Sullivan from the ballot earlier this year, citing a “deliberate attempt” to confuse voters, but a judge put him back on. He then finished third in the August top-four primary to advance to the general election, Alaska Public Media reported. Sen. Sullivan calls him a “sham candidate.”

North Korea’s Kim Orders Drone Buildup In Push For “Absolute Superiority” In Unmanned Warfare

North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency reported that supreme leader Kim Jong Un attended an exhibition featuring intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) drones and a variety of one-way attack drones. In a speech at the exhibition, leader Kim focused on the urgent need to seize “absolute superiority in drone technology” and revealed unspecified steps needed to “rapidly expand and strengthen unmanned aeronautical technology.”Kim Jong Un — alive and well — showed up at a weapons exhibition and demanded that North Korea become a leader in combat drone productionLater, the dictator was shown what kamikaze drones, cruise missiles and powerful multiple rocket launchers are capable of. pic.twitter.com/aFEATZ4FVF— NEXTA (@nexta_tv) October 30, 2026
Belgium-based defense news website Army Recognition stated:North Korea has displayed a new flying-wing drone alongside large reconnaissance aircraft, armed unmanned platforms, loitering munitions and first-person-view attack systems, highlighting a broader effort to modernize its military drone fleet. The exhibition, attended by Kim Jong-un, was accompanied by missile launches and heavy rocket fire designed to demonstrate how unmanned systems could support strikes against South Korean and US military targets.Army Recognition highlighted a live-fire demonstration at the event that used a North Korean one-way attack drone to target a mock US M1 Abrams. The outlet continued:North Korea also presented several loitering munitions resembling the Israeli Harop and Hero families, alongside an anti-armor design comparable in appearance to the American Switchblade 600. Demonstrations included attacks against simulated South Korean guard posts, K9 self-propelled howitzers, counterbattery radars and US M1 Abrams tanks. These aircraft were accompanied by lightweight expendable drones, large numbers of first-person-view (FPV) quadcopters and systems apparently equipped with fiber-optic cable dispensers. The modernization of North Korea’s defense force with drones comes as the US is urgently seeking to unleash a massive procurement supercycle worth $1.5 trillion, with $75 billion allocated to drones and counter-drone technologies. However, that effort may face major headwinds if Democrats sweep the midterms, potentially delaying or drastically reducing funding intended to prepare the US military for these emerging threats.

DAVID MARCUS: California transplants in Texas are voting Democrat and they see no irony in it

October 30, 2026 MMN Editor Filed Under: THE NEWS

McKinney, Texas, is ground zero for the migration of voters from California to Texas over the past several years. On Election Day, it is these newcomers who may well tip the balance not just in the Senate and governor’s races, but also whether the once ruby-red Lone Star State will continue to grow bluer.I met Oren at The Celt on the picture-postcard town square, where we played a friendly game of pool. He moved from California about a year ago “because it’s a lot cheaper to live,” but is voting for Democrats because he believes that Texas needs “more social services and public transit,” as well as more support for transgender kids. When I gently tried to press Oren on the apparent illogic of moving away from a high-tax, big-government blue state for reasons of cost — only to vote to make his new home a high-tax, big-government state — he was unmoved, almost arguing that real California progressivism has never been tried.FOX NEWS POLL: TEXAS SENATE RACE GALLOPING TOWARD A PHOTO FINISHIt turns out that Oren was not as much of an outlier as I had expected because, not long after, I met Daniel, who works at a local restaurant and moved to McKinney a few years ago with his best friend and girlfriend to start a business. He has also proudly brought his politics with him.”It’s in the Constitution,” Daniel told Fox News Digital, going on to say, “We can go anywhere we want, it’s meant to be that way.”When I asked him if he could understand why so many people born and raised in Texas are worried about transplants changing its politics, he shrugged and said, “Things change.”JOE ROGAN WARNS LIBERALS AGAINST TRYING TO TURN TEXAS BLUE, SAYS IT WOULD WRECK THE STATE’S ‘DELICATE BALANCE’In the space of about five hours, I met two more refugees from California prepared to keep voting for Democrats. Like Oren and Daniel, they really did not see any irony in the fact that they may be recreating in Texas exactly the conditions they escaped in California. The natives, however, do see the problem with the Californication of Texas. Terry, a longtime local in her 60s, told me, “I love to see the growth, and there’s a lot of it, but if they bring Democratic politics with them, then we stand to lose the whole thing bringing people here.”Clint, who was in town from his home just on the other side of the Oklahoma border, is worried not just about Texas turning blue through domestic migration, but even about the Sooner State eventually turning blue.TRUMP WON THIS RELIABLY RED STATE BY DOUBLE DIGITS. NOW A DEADLOCKED RACE IS BRINGING HIM BACK”I cannot comprehend why someone would move from a state because there’s high taxes and then come down here and vote for high taxes, I just can’t comprehend it,” Clint told Fox News Digital, adding, “and I’ve asked them to explain it to me, but they just cuss me out.”Thankfully, nobody cussed out this columnist for asking, but Clint is correct that the liberal transplants see no problem with transforming the red states they arrive in into blue states, and it’s not just Texas.Arizona and even Montana have seen influxes of liberal California voters. West Virginians have similar fears regarding their neighbors to the south in Northern Virginia, who are also attracted by the low taxes and cost of living.ELECTION DAY 2026: JOIN AMERICA’S CONVERSATION HERE!In Texas, there is a kind of double-pincer political invasion because, along with the Cali converts, unchecked immigration — illegal and otherwise — over decades has also pushed the needle left in the state. This is, in a nutshell, the new Democratic Party coalition: wealthy, college-educated Whites and immigrants. The bottom line for Republicans — not just in Texas but in many red states — is that Americans are moving at stunning rates to cheaper states, which almost always means Republican states. The good news is that red states stand to gain in the Electoral College and in Congress after the next census, but that won’t matter if Democrats take them over.Between now and then, and especially on Tuesday, “Don’t you turn my red state blue” has to be the mantra of the GOP. If Texas falls this time, then anywhere can, and that is exactly what the Democrats moving to red states are hoping for and creating.

James Talafreako’s Email Appears on Dating Site Leak – Profile Tied to Email Lists “Fetish” and “Group Sex” as Interests

October 30, 2026 MMN Editor Filed Under: THE NEWS

Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico’s email address has been uncovered in a database from a 2011 data breach of Fling.com, an online dating and hook-up website, Townhall reports.
Townhall reports that Talarico’s attorneys confirmed the email belonged to and was used by the Texas Democrat.
The online account was created just before Talarico began teaching sixth graders at Rhodes Middle School in San Antonio, Texas, back in 2011.
The profile, “mohawk787,” which is reportedly associated with an email belonging to Talarico, lists “FETISH,” “GROUPSEX,” “SEXUAL RELATIONS,” “ONLINE FLIRTING,” and “OTHER” as the user’s interests.
The same email address also appears on other websites, including Myspace, and IP address matches suggest that Talarico’s sister, Madeline Talarico, created a Neopets page from the same location, Townhall reports. Still, it is unclear based on the records who actually created the account using Talarico’s email.
And, in a letter to Townhall, Talarico’s attorneys note that the birth date and zip code associated with the profile did not match those of Talarico, threatening legal consequences.
“Talarico never created an account on Fling.com, and objective evidence confirms it,” Jacquelyn K. Lopez and Sarah N. Mahmood wrote. “The account you are referencing was created using a hacked email address. It was also never used—it was active for a grand total of 54 seconds on Fling.com. You are formally on notice that any allegation that Mr. Talarico created or used such an account is false; if you publish it anyway, you will defame him and will be liable for the resulting legal damages.”
Townhall reports:
The records from the Fling.com data breach show displayed account creation and last-login timestamps that are 54 seconds apart. The screenshots show no later login before the database leaked in 2011, but they do not establish that the account was accessed again.

The Fling.com database record lists the email address as “validated,” marked with a “Y” for yes. According to the database structure published by cybersecurity researcher Troy Hunt, the default setting was “N” for no. This means the email address was marked as verified rather than left at its default setting.
The record also shares an IP address with a separate database leak involving an email address associated with Talarico’s sister used in association with an account at a company called Neopets. An IP address can identify the internet connection used to establish the user account, which could indicate that the accounts reflected in the Fling.com and the Neopets data breaches originated from the same internet connection.
