WATCH: California Jail Goes on Three-Hour Lockdown Rather Than Hand Criminal Illegal Aliens to ICE, Monterey County Supervisor Tells Agent They Will Not Release Anyone When ICE is Present

November 3, 2026 MMN Editor Filed Under: THE NEWS

The Monterey County Jail in Salinas was visited by ICE agents on Tuesday for a targeted operation seeking three individuals with prior arrests for DUI, drug offenses, and providing false identification.
Instead of working with them to facilitate transfers, the jail was placed on lockdown for roughly three hours, suspending new bookings and inmate releases while a crowd of protesters and observers gathered outside.
ICE left without taking anyone into custody during the standoff, and the sheriff’s office has indicated that they would do it again.
The three criminal illegal aliens in question were Eduardo Castro-Lopez (also known as Jordan Eduardo Yac), Jose Luis Quinones (also known as Jose Manuel Garcia), and Angelina Ramirez-Sepulveda.
An ICE spokesperson told Border Hawk that “what should have been a simple, routine operation quickly went sideways.”

NEW: A California Jail Went Into Temporary Lockdown Instead of Releasing Inmates to ICE Agents
October 27: Six @ICEgov agents arrived at the Monterey County Jail in Salinas, CA requesting custody transfer of three suspected criminal illegal aliens. Rather than release the people in custody, the jail chose to enter a 3 hour lockdown and refused to release the illegal aliens into federal custody.
A crowd of protesters quickly formed, and County of Monterey District 1, Supervisor Luis Alejo, was also on scene and took video of the crowd.
The agents were there to recover Eduardo Castro-Lopez, also known as Jordan Eduardo Yac; Jose Luis Quinones, also known as Jose Manuel Garcia; and Angelina Ramirez-Sepulveda.
The suspects have prior arrests for multiple offenses including DUI, drug offenses and providing false identification.
“None of the suspects were turned over to ICE during the lockdown,” said ICE Assistant Director of Public Affairs @MicahBock to @BorderHawkNews.
“A local county supervisor told the ICE officers that the sheriff would not release the inmates to them. It’s borderline obscene that a facility that’s there to protect the public would go on lockdown to protect criminal illegal aliens from the consequences of violating federal immigration law.”
Footage by KSBW Action News 8 shows an ICE agent talking to Monterey County District 4 Supervisor Wendy Root Askew who stated clearly the 3 men would NOT be released from the jail due to the presence of immigration agents.
By the next day, the online custody log showed that Castro-Lopez had been released from custody and Quinones was no longer shown as being in custody. Ramirez-Sepulveda remained in custody.
“Two of the individuals ICE sought were reportedly released from custody. This is where we are: Criminals are being protected in sanctuary cities and states, and a law enforcement facility is siding with CRIMINALS instead of cooperating with federal law enforcement,” said ICE on social media.
— Wid Lyman (@Wid_Lyman) November 2, 2026

While agents waited in an area marked with yellow caution tape, protesters arrived. Monterey County Supervisor Luis Alejo was on scene and filmed the protest.
Roughly 50 people, including legal observers, lawyers, and politicians, were present.
Supervisor Wendy Root Askew was recorded in a tense exchange with an ICE agent, telling him she had spoken with the sheriff and that “they will not be releasing anyone who is at risk today.”
“OK, so to be clear: Because we are here, the folks that are in there that would otherwise be legally allowed out there, Fourth Amendment rights are being violated by the sheriff to keep them in there? Is that what I’m hearing from you?” the agent asked, according to a report and video from KSBW.
Askew replied, “They will not be released in a location where ICE is present.”
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office announced the lockdown around 5:40 p.m., stating the facility was not accepting new bookings, that all inmate releases were temporarily suspended, and that public visitation was closed except for attorneys.
Officials said they took the measures “out of an abundance of caution to ensure everybody’s safety.”
ICE agents departed around 6:30 p.m. amid the protest. The jail resumed normal operations less than two hours later.
The sheriff’s office later said scheduled releases were not affected overall and that the lockdown was intended to maintain a safe environment.

MONTEREY COUNTY JAIL PLACED FACILITY ON FULL LOCKDOWN, HARBORING CRIMINAL ILLEGAL ALIENS FROM FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT
On October 27, the Monterey County Jail was placed on temporary lockdown following a targeted ICE operation involving criminal illegal aliens with prior arrests for DUI, drug offenses, and providing false identification.
New bookings and inmate releases were temporarily suspended. Two of the individuals ICE sought were reportedly released from custody.
This is where we are: Criminals are being protected in sanctuary cities and states, and a law enforcement facility is siding with CRIMINALS instead of cooperating with federal law enforcement.
— U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (@ICEgov) October 29, 2026

ICE, however, stated that two of the three individuals it sought were reportedly released from custody and accused the jail of “harboring” them, writing that “criminals are being protected in sanctuary cities and states, and a law enforcement facility is siding with CRIMINALS instead of cooperating with federal law enforcement.”
By the following day, custody records confirmed that Castro-Lopez had been released and Quinones was no longer listed as in custody, while Ramirez-Sepulveda remained.

WATCH: JD Vance at Final Ohio Rally Warns Somali Communities Are Coordinating to ‘Flood the Polls’ and Drown Out American’s Votes

November 3, 2026 MMN Editor Filed Under: THE NEWS

Vice President JD Vance warned voters during his final midterm rally in Ohio on Monday that Somali communities are coordinating to flood the polls and drown out the votes of Americans.
Vance urged people to vote for Vivek Ramaswamy for governor.
Standing alongside Ramaswamy at the Eugene F. Kranz Toledo Express Airport rally, Vance said he had seen a story in the last couple of days about the effort and framed the choice as one about whether American elections will belong to American citizens.
“Now, I saw a story, just in the last couple of days, that there are illegal communities of illegal immigrant Somalis who are coordinating to flood the polls and drown out your vote,” Vance told the crowd.
“Well, I happen to believe that we want American elections to belong to American citizens. Send a message by voting for Vivek for governor!”

Vance WARNED about illegal Somali communities coordinating to flood the polls and drown out citizens’ votes
He said he saw a story claiming these groups are organizing to overwhelm American voters, then called for elections that belong to citizens.
After everything that came out about Somali fraudsters in Minnesota and elsewhere, whether it’s true or not, it isn’t hard to believe at this point.

Vance’s warning arrived shortly after The Gateway Pundit reported on Ohio Democrat State Representative Ismail Mohamed, a Somali-born lawmaker, who has endorsed Ramaswamy’s opponent Amy Acton.
In subtitled clips, Mohamed told Somali audiences that the community’s aim is a united front to lobby for Somalia, referenced a network of Somali elected officials including Rep. Ilhan Omar, and urged support for Acton while describing Vivek’s backers as “the MAGA crowd, Trump’s crowd, the racist crowd.”

Bears prove they are NFC North’s most complete team with commanding win over Seahawks

Don’t let the standings fool you: the Chicago Bears are the darling of the loaded NFC North, and they proved why on “Monday Night Football” against the Seattle Seahawks.Lumen Field and the “12s” never make it easy for a road team to play against the Seattle Seahawks, and it doesn’t help that this group just gave the Kansas City Chiefs its first loss of the season in Week 7.But the Bears, led by head coach Ben Johnson and quarterback Caleb Williams, don’t seem to care where their games are held each week.CLICK HERE FOR MORE OUTKICK SPORTS COVERAGETheir offense, and a defense that saw All-Pro Jeffery Simmons show out in his first game with the club since he was traded, made problems for the reigning Super Bowl champions in a 34-17 victory to improve to 6-2 on the season. The Minnesota Vikings are still in first place in the division at 6-1, but there are a lot of questions about their offensive struggles compared to a suffocating defense that has kept them on the right side of close games thus far.The Detroit Lions gave the Vikings their first loss to move to 5-2, while the Green Bay Packers got the job done against the Carolina Panthers on “Thursday Night Football” to get to 5-3.THE CRAIG CARTON SHOW–UNFILTERED, UNAPOLOGETIC AND UNMISSABLE. The Bears totaled 363 yards, 237 of which were through the air on big chunk plays including a 23-yarder to Luther Burden III, who caught Williams’ only touchdown pass of the contest, and a 24-yard strike to Rome Odunze, who led the team with 87 yards on four receptions.Williams became the first quarterback to eclipse 200 passing yards against this vaunted defense. Then, there’s the ground game, Johnson’s bread and butter as he continues to draw up the right concepts with a disciplined offensive line that executes who D’Andre Swift can plow his way into the end zone three times in the game. But the Bears’ defense are no slouches either, coming into the game ninth in yards allowed and points allowed. With Simmons on board, Chicago was proving there are all-in for this championship window, and the veteran defensive tackle was present throughout his first-ever Bears game.He finished tied for the team lead in combined tackles (6), while collecting a sack and two tackles for loss. James Lynch also forced a key interception when it was 27-17 with six minutes to play, leading to Swift’s third touchdown of the game.Meanwhile, Sam Darnold and the Seahawks have shown spurts of that Super Bowl-level play that got them the Vince Lombardi Trophy last season. However, it hasn’t been as consistent as they would like. They made a trade themselves before the Bears landed Simmons, acquiring left guard Quenton Nelson from the Indianapolis Colts to beef up their offensive line, help the run game and keep Darnold upright. And with rookie Jadarian Price back from injury, and Zach Charbonnet making his season debut after recovering from an injury last season, the run game was supposed to be better heading into Week 8.The Seahawks had just 81 yards rushing, and if it weren’t for another 100-yard-plus game for receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who scored just before the first half ended, this game may have gotten out of hand. The Seahawks are still in the hunt with a lot of season left to play, but the Bears made a clear statement in a hostile Seattle environment on Monday night.SIGN UP FOR THE DAILY OUTKICK NEWSLETTER
