Ex-Chicago FBI chief sues DOJ, claims he was ousted over failed anti-ICE prosecutions
The former chief of the FBI’s Chicago field office said he was forced out of his job after he says he was wrongly blamed for the failed prosecution of six people who protested against the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown in the Windy City, according to a lawsuit he filed on Monday.Douglas DePodesta sued top Justice Department officials, alleging that federal prosecutors pushed “politically motivated prosecutions” against Chicago demonstrators before gathering evidence, according to the lawsuit. He said his superiors notified him that FBI Director Kash Patel pushed for his ouster before he was forced to resign over the summer.”I saw the writing on the wall,” DePodesta told The Associated Press.DePodesta accused the top federal prosecutor in Illinois, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois Andrew Boutros, of launching a “campaign” within the DOJ to blame him after the so-called “Broadview Six” case fell apart earlier this year.TRUMP ADMINISTRATION HAS LOST OR ABANDONED HUNDREDS OF LAWSUITS AGAINST ANTI-ICE PROTESTERS, MIGRANTS: REPORTHours after the lawsuit was filed, U.S. District Judge April Perry ordered Boutros and three of his assistant attorneys to testify under oath on Nov. 16 in the failed “Broadview Six” case.”There is more than an adequate factual basis for the Court to pursue an inquiry as to whether willful false statements were made to the court,” Perry wrote in the order.Federal prosecutors brought charges against roughly 30 protesters during the federal immigration enforcement operation in Chicago, dubbed Operation Midway Blitz, but many of those charges have since been dropped or dismissed.DePodesta’s lawsuit alleges that Boutros faced pressure from the DOJ throughout the immigration crackdown to slap protesters with felony charges.”Boutros sent DePodesta emails demanding that DePodesta open FBI investigations into individuals with political views or affiliations in opposition to the Trump administration,” DePodesta’s attorneys wrote in the complaint.Boutros often pressured assistant U.S. attorneys to press charges “before investigating the objective evidence,” according to the lawsuit, which says he wanted felony charges when assistant U.S. attorneys “favored misdemeanors or no charges at all.”Last October, Boutros charged six people with conspiring to obstruct a federal officer, a felony, in connection with their actions during a protest at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in the Chicago suburb of Broadview.Grand jury transcripts later turned over to the court showed that grand jurors twice declined to indict the six people as prosecutors sought charges, according to The Associated Press. Boutros dropped all charges against the six people in May as the court moved to investigate possible prosecutorial misconduct.Boutros “repeatedly complained to his superiors in Washington” that the failure was DePodesta’s fault “to deflect attention from his own malfeasance,” DePodesta’s attorneys wrote in the lawsuit.DePodesta denied Boutros’ claims to his superiors at the FBI, and they conceded that he was only being forced out of his job due to the “political pressure Boutros created,” according to the suit. The complaint alleges Boutros told DOJ leadership that DePodesta and his sister-in-law, Nancy DePodesta, who is an attorney representing one of the six former defendants, “conspired to destroy” the case.PRITZKER CALLS FOR CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS INTO ICE AGENTS OVER ‘MIDWAY BLITZ’ CONDUCT”There is no one at the FBI who took their oath of office and their ethical and moral responsibilities more seriously than Doug,” Nancy DePodesta said in a statement to The Associated Press, adding that it is “both heartbreaking and shameful that he was forced out of his position based on what appear to be utterly false rumors spread by” Boutros. In September, one of the prosecutors on the “Broadview Six” case abruptly resigned, writing in a resignation letter that Boutros had “scapegoated and publicly vilified” her. She filed a motion asking the court to treat her as an independent party moving forward. The former defendants have asked the judge to appoint a special counsel to probe possible misconduct by prosecutors. At an Oct. 1 hearing, Perry ordered further “fact-finding” about communications between Boutros’ office and DOJ leadership.Boutros has previously denied that politics played a role in charging decisions.Fox News Digital reached out to the DOJ for comment. The Associated Press contributed to this report.

King Charles was royally ticked off after being left soaking wet in a tropical downpour during a visit to Antigua.

The 77-year-old monarch showed a rare flash of anger as rain came pouring down during a ceremony marking the 45th anniversary of Antigua and Barbuda’s independence. The soggy spectacle unfolded at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, where Charles and Camilla had arrived for a military parade. As the skies opened up, the King found himself standing in the pouring rain without an umbrella, and he wasn’t exactly amused.Footage captured an increasingly irritated Charles throwing his arms into the air, turning toward his aides and repeatedly demanding, “Where’s the umbrella?”King Charles is not amused as torrential rain leaves him soaked through during a ceremony in Antigua on his Caribbean tour. The King is drenched by rain after waiting over a minute longer than the Queen for an umbrella.🔗 https://t.co/UEvXKSRozc pic.twitter.com/HCyMhVBZ24— Sky News (@SkyNews) November 2, 2026At one point, the frustrated monarch even appeared to mime holding an umbrella, seemingly trying to make his request impossible to misunderstand.Charles eventually got his umbrella and carried on with the ceremony, inspecting military personnel despite the soaking.Fortunately for the royal entourage, the downpour lasted only about five minutes before the skies cleared. The King apparently wasn’t one to hold a grudge, later cracking a joke to Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Gaston Browne about his drenched pants.”I’ve started growing watercress on my trousers,” he quipped.Charles is in the Caribbean to shore up ties with former British colonies, several of which have demanded reparations for Britain’s role in the transatlantic slave trade.

Walmart is selling a storage cabinet with drawers and a cupboard for just $67
TheStreet aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
Why we love this deal
Storing small items can be a hassle; even if you neatly set them on the counter or an open shelf, they can still be an eyesore. Hair care bottles can fall over and roll off the counter easily, and they’re easy to knock over if you’re trying to grab one. Having a spot to store smaller items more easily, like bathroom essentials, electronics, jewelry, or art supplies, while also having a bit of extra room for larger items like toilet paper or towels, can offer a much easier way to hide the clutter while still being able to find what you need.
The Ktaxon Bathroom Storage Cabinet is a versatile storage option that can be used in the kitchen, bathroom, hallway, bedroom, and more. The four drawers offer storage space to keep smaller items together, while the cabinet side offers shelves for larger items, and it’s only $67 at Walmart. Shoppers can save with this under-$70 deal.

Why do shoppers love it?
The four small drawers are great to hold pet treats and accessories by the doorway, while the cabinet side can fit your everyday walking shoes and an umbrella. Or, you can set down your purse, keys, and mail when you get home from work, instead of throwing them on the counter. The drawers are also great for children’s toys, TV, and gaming accessories like chargers, controllers, and remotes, or small kitchen appliances and utensils, while the cabinet is a great option for the TV box or the air fryer.
With the waterproof laminate material, this would also be a great option for a small coffee station. Tea and coffee bags, coffee filters, and stirring utensils can fit inside the drawers, while mugs can be stacked in the cabinet section. It’s a perfect way to keep all your items dust-free.
Related: Walmart’s 5-foot storage cabinet with 5 shelves and a drawer is only $79
The cabinet offers two shelves, with the top shelf featuring an adjustable design, or it can be taken out completely to fit even larger items. The drawers have a curved cutout design to easily pull them out without having knobs that can catch on clothing, and they feature high-quality gliding rails that open and close smoothly. The whole unit measures 32.28 inches tall, 22.04 inches wide, and 11.81 inches deep, with the cabinet half measuring 9.65 inches wide and the drawers measuring 8.66 inches wide. It includes an anti-tip kit that can secure it to the wall, preventing it from falling while opening the drawers.

Korybko: Germany’s Attempted Takeover Of Poland By Proxy Is To Prepare Europe For War With Russia
Authored by Andrew Korybko via Andrew Korybko’s Newsletter,Just like Nazi Germany seized Czechoslovakia’s gold and its robust military-industrial complex in the run-up to World War II, so too is today’s Germany plotting to seize Poland’s gold and subordinate European NATO’s largest army to Berlin ahead of a possibly upcoming war with Russia by 2030.Polish conservative firebrand Dominik Tarczyński recently explained liberal Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s attempted judicial coup as being driven by him then wanting to seize control of the Central Bank, introduce the euro, and then finally transfer Poland’s gold to the European Central Bank (ECB) in Germany. As it turns out, Poland has the world’s 10th-largest gold reserves, and its 550 tonnes as of 2026 are more than the ECB’s 506.5. The ECB would therefore more than double its reserves in that scenario. That’s a significant motivation for what was assessed here to be Germany’s attempted takeover of Poland by proxy through Tusk’s armed seizure of the Constitutional Tribunal with all that could follow. It could also at least temporarily rejuvenate the euro amidst the rapid militarization that most of its members, the vast majority of whom use the euro, are engaging in to prepare for war with Russia by 2030. The bloc’s de facto German leader is far ahead of everyone with a planned €800 billion program.Poland commands European NATO’s (E-NATO) largest military, and conservative President Karol Nawrocki is opposed to the EU’s “Security Action For Europe” (SAFE) loans that would also obligate that most of the equipment be purchased from the bloc’s members, not Poland’s American and Korean partners. He accordingly proposed the “Polish SAFE 0%” program for 185 billion zloty (~$46 billion), the equivalent of the loan that the EU is extending, which Tusk’s government agreed to despite Nawrocki’s disapproval. If the ongoing attempted German takeover of Poland by proxy succeeds, and Poland joins the euro prior to more than doubling the ECB’s reserves by transferring all of its gold there, then Germany could much more easily advance its plot of federalizing the EU with itself as the most dominant force therein. Coupled with the rapid militarization of the EU as a whole, with the largest army in E-NATO then subordinated to Germany, the 1941-like threat that Dmitry Medvedev warned about would materialize. The seizure of the Poland’s gold reserves is central to this scenario, ergo why Tusk is expected to support that through the introduction of the euro if his judicial coup succeeds, and there’s an historical precedent for his suspected German patron to pursue this policy that’s actually against Russia. Hitler seized Czechoslovakia’s gold reserves and its robust military-industrial complex in the immediate run-up to World War II, both of which were considered by historians to be indispensable to his war effort.Likewise, in the run-up to the EU’s possible clash with Russia by 2030, today’s Germany is attempting to seize Poland’s gold reserves and subordinate the largest army in E-NATO to Berlin in dual moves that would be indispensable in the aforesaid scenario. Unlike back then when Germany led the invasion of the USSR from the front, it might instead task its Polish subordinate with sending Poles to die in Ukraine for perpetuating the NATO-Russian proxy war there or starting another one after the latest conflict ends.Considering what’s at stake, namely the materialization of another 1941-like threat to Russia brought about by the German-dominated European Federation that could follow Berlin’s attempted takeover of Poland by proxy through Tusk’s judicial coup, Poland’s political crisis is of global significance. Its outcome could mean the difference between war and peace, without any exaggeration, since it’ll shape the post-war European order for years to come.We publish a variety of perspectives. THUMB ON THE SCALE: ABC Keeps Pumping Wild NYT Polls
With the midterm elections almost here, ABC’s World News Tonight took one last opportunity to pump viewers full of Democrat propaganda. They did so by continuing to tout the wild last-minute outlier poll published by The New York Times.Watch as correspondent Rachel Scott breathlessly goes through the NYT polling in each of the featured races, showing Democrats winning big in red states: WATCH: @ABCWorldNews’ Election Eve coverage touts the wild outlier NYT polls promising a Dem romp pic.twitter.com/uAk092keoB— Jorge Bonilla (@BonillaJL) November 3, 2026 DAVID MUIR: And one more note tonight showing just how fascinating this night could be tomorrow night, it could be a real nail biter. The new polls tonight on several key Senate races, many in normally deep red states. And what these polls show. So let’s bring in Rachel Scott. She’s already over at the big board getting ready for the big night. And what do these polls show, Rachel?RACHEL SCOTT: Well, David, these polls coming in the 11th hour right ahead of Election Day. I want to take you right to it, starting in Maine. It is the Democrat, Troy Jackson, 51%, polling ahead of the Republican incumbent, Senator Susan Collins, who is at 45%. Let’s take you to Michigan. Abdul el-Sayed, the Democrat, 53%, several points ahead of the Republican Mike Rogers, who’s trailing behind at 42. Over to Ohio, the former Senator Sherrod Brown ahead here, 49% of the incumbent Senator Jon Husted, a Republican who is at 44, and over to Iowa. I mean, take a look at this. This is a dead heat. The Democrat Josh Turek 48%. The Republican Ashley Hinson 47%. This race is neck-and-neck over to Texas. An unexpected battleground. Democrat James Talarico at 50% polling ahead right now, the Republican Texas Attorney General, Ken Paxton, he’s at 43%. And then the red state of Texas(sic), it is the Democrat, Adam Hamilton, sitting at 49% heading into Election Day ahead of the incumbent, Roger Marshall, who is at 45- 44%. David, many of these states have not sent a Democrat to the Senate in decades. This is ABC’s second crack at pumping these polls, as our own Curtis Houck pointed out earlier. Scott was equally enthusiastic about gas prices as a driver of voter discontent. But the gas price argument has its limitations. In order to manufacture a doomsday scenario for Republicans, Scott breathlessly stated that the $4.14/gallon average price is the highest ever on Election Day. This doesn’t consider inflation. The $3.80/gallon in 2022, adjusted for inflation is $4.38 today. The $3.06/gallon from 2010 adjusts to $4.73 today. This arbitrary gas price figure is little more than a fake statistic intended to further inflame the electorate into pulling the lever for Democrats so that ABC can resume their role as enthusiastic Democrat regime media.ABC doesn’t just want to spur liberals, they also want to help demoralize Republicans. We leave you with the words of the late, great Rush Limbaugh:The polls are just being used as another tool of voter suppression. The polls are an attempt to not reflect public opinion, but to shape it. Yours. They want to depress the heck out of you.Click “expand” to view the full transcript of the aforementioned report as aired on ABC World News tonight on Monday, November 2nd, 2026:DAVID MUIR: And one more note tonight showing just how fascinating this night could be tomorrow night, it could be a real nail biter. Very different midterm election on tap here. We should point out that many of these races are within the margin of error. We’ve seen polling errors before, but what this does show is it going to be a very close night. So we want everyone to tune in. In the meantime, you’re tracking another key number because we know what voters have been telling us about the key issue this election.SCOTT: The economy, the economy. It’s top of mind. I want to take you to one more number here. The average price for a gallon of gas, $4.14 a gallon. The average price for diesel right now averaging $6.29 a gallon. If these two numbers hold, it will be the highest gas and diesel prices on record ever on Election Day. David.MUIR: All right, Rachel Scott, this time tomorrow, you have some company. Rick Klein will be at the big board with you. And of course, John, Mary, Lindsay and Martha will be up here at the desk. Thanks so much for being here tonight. Early. The entire powerhouse political team will be here. And our correspondents from Alaska, Texas, Michigan, Ohio, South Carolina, Maine, so many other states, too, all across this country. Our coverage begins tomorrow night on World News Tonight. And then right at 7 P.M. Eastern, we come on the air right through the wee hours of the morning this time tomorrow night. Thank you.
