Rep. Tom Kean Jr., R-N.J., is responding to questions about missed congressional votes after a monthslong hospitalization for depression, saying he is “stronger than ever” as he seeks re-election in New Jersey’s competitive 7th District.Speaking on “The Fox News Rundown” podcast, Kean discussed his hospital stay earlier this year, explaining that his absence from Congress was due to a medical emergency.”Nobody can schedule a medical emergency, and we were able to discuss and tell people while I was in the hospital that we [had] a medical situation in the family with me,” he told Fox News’ Mike Emanuel.REPUBLICAN CONGRESSMAN WILL END MONTHSLONG ABSENCE FROM DC AFTER MISSING 135 ROLL CALL VOTES”I also spoke on the House floor when I returned that I’d been in the hospital for depression because I want to get rid of the stigma associated with any mental health condition.”In June, Kean returned to the House and disclosed that he had been diagnosed with depression after spending months in the hospital receiving treatment.MISSING GOP CONGRESSMAN REVEALS HE’S ‘MORE ENERGIZED THAN EVER’ TO RETURN TO WASHINGTONKean had been absent from Congress since early March, missing more than 100 votes before publicly disclosing his diagnosis. The extended absence drew calls for transparency from lawmakers in both parties and became a focal point for his Democratic challenger, former Navy helicopter pilot Rebecca Bennett, in the competitive district.Emanuel asked Kean whether his absence had affected his standing with voters.SWING-SEAT REPUBLICAN SIDELINED BY ‘SERIOUS’ ILLNESS MISSES 88 VOTES AS MAJORITY HANGS BY THREAD”As I said, I’m feeling stronger than ever. I spoke on the House floor that I had depression, and now we need to get rid of any stigma associated with mental health treatment.”Kean also pointed to his legislative record, highlighting his work on bipartisan legislation in New Jersey that sought to require health insurers to provide equal coverage for mental and physical health treatment. He said he continues to pursue similar efforts in Washington.
California dad of 5 says charter school rejected books that even mentioned God, ‘Publisher blacklist’
A California father of five says his family’s public charter school rejected homeschooling materials that merely mentioned God or faith, even when the books met state academic standards, forcing his family to pay out of pocket for educational resources he says other parents could access with public funds.John Woolard told Fox News Digital that he and his wife initially had no problems using a public charter school program that allowed them to educate their children at home. But he said they eventually discovered that their curriculum choices were being scrutinized for religious content.”Any book or curriculum purchase that we wanted to make that referenced God or faith in even like an adjacent sort of way was being denied,” Woolard said.CALIFORNIA SCHOOL DISTRICT SUED OVER FIELD TRIP TO MOSQUE WHERE STUDENTS ALLEGEDLY DONNED MUSLIM GARBHe described what he called a “publisher blacklist” and said the restrictions extended beyond explicitly Christian instructional materials.Woolard said he even encountered problems with books examining the religious beliefs of America’s Founding Fathers.”You would think that that would be something that would be non-controversial, but those curriculum choices would be denied,” he said. For Woolard, the dispute goes beyond religious expression. As a father of five, he said the charter school program provided a cost-effective way to tailor the curriculum to each child’s individual needs. But when the school rejected certain curriculum purchases, he said, his family was left covering the costs.”If our curriculum choices are denied, then we have to pay for those resources, we have to pay for those curriculum choices out of pocket,” Woolard told Fox News Digital.WASHINGTON FATHER SUES SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR DENYING RELIGIOUS OPT-OUT FOR 5TH GRADER FROM LGBTQ INSTRUCTIONWoolard said he pressed school officials to explain why the materials were being rejected. He asked whether the curriculum met California standards and whether it was academically rigorous enough. According to Woolard, the answer to both questions was yes.”So, at the end of the day, the only objection that you have to this curriculum, our curriculum choices, is that there’s a faith component to it,” Woolard said he recalled asking. He said both a teacher and principal acknowledged that the religious component was the objection.WASHINGTON SCHOOL DISTRICT THAT FORCED KIDS TO HIDE BIBLES IN SEALED ENVELOPES MUST APOLOGIZE, PAY $275K”What that tells me is that equality only extends as far as what the government approves,” he said.Stephanie Taub, senior counsel with First Liberty Institute, characterized the policy as discriminatory toward families seeking a faith-based education during an interview with Fox News Digital. “What we’re asking here is California has a policy that singles out parents who want to give their children a faith-based education, and it excludes them from homeschooling benefits that would otherwise be available,” the attorney said.Taub said the family is seeking Supreme Court intervention after an unfavorable lower-court decision.Woolard said he hopes the justices will ultimately force California to change its approach.”What I really hope is for the government or for the Supreme Court to come back and tell California you got the decision wrong and this is the way to correct it,” he said.He added that such a ruling could “break open California for a lot of families” seeking similar changes.Taub said the Supreme Court is considering whether to take the case and that she expects to hear whether the justices will review it in the next few months.CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTUREA spokesperson for the California Department of Education told Fox News Digital that the department cannot comment on pending litigation.

Polish president turns plane around after ‘coup’ at nation’s top court
While en route to Senegal, Poland’s President Karol Nawrocki turned his plane around and returned home after police entered Poland’s top court, the Constitutional Tribunal, and the tribunal’s president was suspended.”At such a moment, the President must be in Poland,” Nawrocki posted on X. “I’m interrupting my flight to Senegal. I’m returning.”Police say they secured the Tribunal after dozens of protesters gathered to demonstrate against what they called the wrongful suspension of the top court’s president by the current pro-European government. Police said there were also dangerous objects thrown at officers outside the building. Some protesters outside the court were seen praying, while others held posters reading “Tusk — a symbol of anti-Polish sentiment,” “Down with the commies and Tusk’s regime,” and “Stop destroying the state.”Poland’s top judicial bodies, including the Constitutional Tribunal, have been a major bone of contention between the current pro-European government, led by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and the main opposition party, national-conservative Law and Justice (PiS), which ruled the country from 2015 to 2023. Critics accuse the PiS of imposing political control over key judicial institutions, with some reforms having led the EU to impose fines on Poland.NATO ALLY PUSHES ‘FORT TRUMP’ US MILITARY BASE AS RUSSIAN HELICOPTER PENETRATES AIRSPACENawrocki, an ally of the PiS party, refused to swear in three of six judges nominated by parliament earlier this year. Constitutional Tribunal president Bogdan Święczkowski, who was appointed by the PiS government after also serving as a deputy justice minister, declined to allow judges elected by the current parliamentary majority to assume their duties. According to the tribunal’s website, Święczkowski was suspended Friday.”Restoring the rule of law is our duty,” said Tusk, who returned to power in 2023 with a promise to restore the judiciary’s independence. He posted to X, “After years of PiS-led lawlessness, this is a difficult process, sometimes painful, and it requires decisive action. There is no other way.” Since taking power, Tusk’s pro-European government’s efforts have been vetoed by two successive presidents aligned with PiS, including Nawrocki.HUNGARY AND POLAND DEFEND TOUGH MIGRATION POLICIES AS FRANCE REELS FROM VIOLENT UNRESTFormer Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, a former PiS member whose Rozwój Plus coalition is positioning itself as an alternative to Tusk’s government ahead of next November’s parliamentary elections, also took to X to denounce “the forceful takeover of the Constitutional Tribunal.””Justice cannot be achieved through violence,” Morawiecki said, adding that “Tusk will stop at nothing to cling to power… We do not consent to Belarusian methods in Poland!” “It’s true: a coup d’état is underway,” former PiS Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro wrote on X. “If someone were to forcibly break into the Prime Minister’s Office and take it over, we would all know what to call it… This is a blatant, criminal attack on the constitutional order… That is why I call for resistance that will be loud, firm, solidary and fearless.”Nawrocki was traveling to Senegal at the invitation of Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye for a visit Nawrocki’s office said was focused on bilateral relations, economic cooperation, and diplomacy. He was also scheduled to attend the opening ceremony of the 2026 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Dakar on Saturday. The Associated Press and Reuters contributed to this report.
Florida Woman Arrested After Threatening to Shoot Trump at Daytona Beach Rally
21-year-old Allison Albro
A woman has been arrested ahead of President Trump’s rally in Daytona Beach, Florida, for threatening to shoot President Trump on Thursday night.
President Trump is en route to Daytona Beach to speak at a midterm rally tonight at 7 pm ET.
Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood identified the suspect as 21-year-old Allison Albro in an X post this morning.
“Going to the trump rally in my city tmr so I can shoot him with my Glock!” she wrote on social media, according to a screenshot shared by Chitwood.
“Wish me luck guys !!”
The Sheriff also shared a photo of her mugshot, where she has mascara running down her face.
“She said she was joking with this post, she doesn’t have access to a Glock or any other weapon, and she would never hurt anyone. Today she’s sitting in jail on charges of written threats to kill and unlawful use of a communications device,” Chitwood wrote, announcing the arrest on X this morning:
We are not going to tolerate threats to assassinate the president. Allison Albro, 21, Daytona Beach, is learning that the hard way. She posted this last night and got a visit from the @VolusiaSheriff Domestic Security Unit and the @SecretService.
She said she was joking with this post, she doesn’t have access to a Glock or any other weapon, and she would never hurt anyone. Today she’s sitting in jail on charges of written threats to kill and unlawful use of a communications device. I would strongly advise anyone else thinking of posting a “joke” along these lines to think twice. VSO continues to work hand in hand with the Secret Service, FBI and all our law enforcement partners to ensure this presidential visit to Daytona Beach is a safe event for all who attend, and for our whole community.

Albro is reportedly being held without bond.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
This comes amid a growing wave of threats against President Trump and his supporters.
Another deranged leftist was also arrested for threatening to shoot President Trump during a rally in Wichita, Kansas, last week.
And liberals are still mocking the death of Charlie Kirk and inciting violence against conservatives on college campuses. Recently, a University of Texas student showed up at a Turning Point event and read a poem celebrating Charlie Kirk’s death. ANTIFA at the University of Oregon also showed up at a Turning Point event with a sign that read “F-ck him right in the neck hole,” a reference to Kirk’s death.
Then, on Thursday, a man inside Trump’s midterm rally in Rock Hill, South Carolina, appeared to call for a “massacre” of Trump supporters and said he was there to witness it.
